Pdf form file conversion

How can I convert an existing pdf fillable form to MSWord format?  Adobe's standard pdf file conversion service does not accept fillable pdf forms.

Hi whatsagoodname?,
You will need to use the formscentral.acrobat.com service. There are
several great tutorials there as well.
Let me know how it goes!
Kind regards, Stacy

  • Reducing PDF form file size

When creating the dynamic PDF form in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.x, the file size is < 200K. When opening in Acrobat 9 Pro and extending to Acrobat Reader, the file size > 1.2MB. Is there any way to reduce the file size?
    Thanks!
    -JoeF

Are you using any font's other than the standard ones (aka base-14)? The standard ones are Helvetica, Times, Courier (including four variants of each), Symbol, and Zapf Dingbats (Adobe Pi is the replacement).
If that's not it, do a Save As, as opposed to just a Save. This will rid the document of unused objects that accumulate each time you save.

  • Word form  to pdf form fields conversion

Does anyone have any expereince with converting form Word
    form with active
x controls to pdf form fields - any help would be appreciated
    Ann Steer

No. What you can do, though, is after you edit your file create a new static PDF from it, open your old PDF and then use the Replace Pages command, selecting the new PDF file as the one to insert. This will replace the underlying PDF content while keeping all the form fields in tact. You then might need to adjust them a bit, but it's much less work then re-doing the entire form.

  • How to create PDF form files

    Hi, how to do this:
I have two PDF forms,  form "A" and form "B",
both files are located in the same folder.
Form B has an array of fields, like this:
    Name1, Address1
    Name2, Address2
    ...etc
Form A only has one set of fields: Name , Address.
How do I script a button on Form B, such that when the user clicks the button,
it creates a bunch of "Form A"s with their fields populated with the data on B?
i.e. it creates a number of PDF files:
    A_Name1.pdf     -- filled with the data of (Name1, Address1) on form B
    A_Name2.pdf     -- filled with the data of (Name2, Address2) on form B
    ... and so on...
    Thanks for help.

  • How to reduce PDF Form file size?

    Hello
I have a PDF that is 22KB without form fields, but once I add the fields to the form, it increases the size to a huge 528KB.
There are 5 or so text fields, one digital signature, and 14 different 'Radio Button" categories.
Is there any way to still ensure the form works as I need it too (ie. I don't want to get rid of any fields, and I don't want to change radio buttons to check boxes or anything), but reducing the size of the file??
    Thank you

  • Selectable map not saved in fillable PDF form file

Hi all, I have a problem with a document (it's a book for children) which has been created using InDesign CS6 on Macintosh. I need to make a fillable form (which is not a problem) and I have applied the "Extended Features for Acrobat Reader". I guess the client uses Acrobat Reader for Windows.
The problem comes when the client asks me to include a map where the pupils can select the countries, and that I have solved using buttons that show/hide these countries. It works fine, but when the client fills the form and saves the document, the map doesn't save the selected fields.
How can I make it work properly? I also tried creating a "SAVE MAP" button, but unfortunately, Acrobat only applies this feature to the current state when I create the document, NOT when the client clicks on this "SAVE MAP" button. Is there another solution, please?
And there's still more... In another page, the pupils must select 5 words, and the problem remains the same... the selected fields are not saved.
    I hope I've explained myself correctly, I know it's a bit confusing.
    Thanks in advance!!

If you will be adding up the mileage reimbursement amounts you might need to round the result of the calculation to 2 decimal places and that will require a custom JavaScript calculation. Using unrounded values can result with an answer that does not add up to the displayed value.
Using the simplified field notation also requires that field names meet a very specific format. The field names need to start with an alphabetic character and it cannot have any white space character in the name unless some additional coding is done. These restrictions are a result of processing the formula string with JavaScript and how the data string is parsed for processing.

  • InDesign equivalent of LiveCycle's "Image Field" in PDF form creation?

LiveCycle has a PDF form field called "Image Field". We add this field to the PDF files we create so that our end users can select and import a JPEG image into their PDF document using Adobe Reader.
Now we would like to use InDesign to produce the same PDF form files as an alternative to using LiveCycle. Does InDesign have a PDF form field like LiveCycle's "Image Field"? We haven't found it yet.
In other words, does someone know in InDesign how to create a field in PDF forms which has the same functionality as LiveCycle's "Image Field"? LiveCycle's field works in enabled Adobe Reader files, and permits JPEG format, among others.
    Thank you,
    Kevin
P.S. We discovered a way to create PDF forms in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI with similar functionality by using JavaScript, but the Acrobat Pro created documents only permit Adobe Reader to import PDF files, not JPEG or other image formats. So Adobe Acrobat Pro XI was not a viable alternative to LiveCycle for creating our PDF files. We'd like to know if we need to rule out InDesign, too.

It's worth separating out the different responsibilities and products.
Whether a functionality exists in Reader depends on the Acrobat team. Reader, being free, is limited by design, the aim of the design being to sell copies of Acrobat. Obviously, Reader can't make PDFs or do preflighting. Less obviously, there are a bunch of JavaScript functions that don't work. Sometimes, with Reader enabling, more functions become available. (There are different kinds of Reader enabling, some of which need very expensive extra products).
Whether a form capability exists at all is largely down to the PDF specification (now an ISO standard) or the XFA specification. Adobe can choose to go beyond the specification but largely choose not to.
So, the InDesign team can make form fields, not because the Acrobat team approves, but because the way this is done is written down in the PDF Specification. InDesign _could_ choose to make XFA forms, but thank goodness that will never happen.
So, if you want InDesign forms to do something you first have to ask: can Acrobat forms to this. NOT XFA (LIveCycle forms) which are done by a different team to different rules. So far as I know Acrobat forms cannot do the sort of thing you want; that is, placing arbitrary graphics, but in certain circumstances they can place PDF files.
    Why make the distinction?
    - If Acrobat can make forms that do this, then so can InDesign: it's worth asking the InDesign people to do it.
    - If Adobe limit Adobe Reader, there is no use asking the InDesign team to solve this.
    - If Acrobat can't make forms that do this, then nor can InDesign.

  • Auto fill same fields in multiple different pdf forms?

I wish to enter information such as project name, company name, date, etc. into a single data sheet.  Then I need to autofill the same two or three fields across multiple separate pdf form files.  In this case I have approximately separate files to autofill.  The forms are all different however, they have the same two or three fields.  Any ideas?
I have been searching the internet for ideas or methods and haven't found a single solution yet.
    Thanks.

  • Sending Filled PDF Form ONLINE without promting outlook/windowsmail etc

This question has been placed serveral times. But no one seemed to have THE anwers/script for it.
now we all know that a filled pdf form, can be send as an attachment when you click on the submit button. It prompts, your computer mail software and place the e-mail adress and subject on the right place with the filed pdf file attached. That's cool.
And also we know you can save the pdf form on your local disk. Login in your gmail, hotmail or yahoo and attach the saved pdf form file and send it there.
But what I want is something more simpler. The above mention is tricky when someone dont have mail client. I just want the complete filled pdf form, send online (through mailserver?). just the send button. without prompting outlook/windowsmail. Just the submit and send the whole damn thing to the right address.
So what's the script to do so?

I have the same question, did you have any luck  finding an answer/script ? It seems like this process its much more complicated than it should be.

  • PDF Form Submit Format

    Hello,
Does anyone know the format of form values that are sent out after user clicks the submit button in the form?
I have a PDF form file stored in my computer. In my program, I read this form file and dynamically create a submit button. After that, user can enter data in the form and submit the values to my server in HTML format.
I was wondering if anyone knows how the format looks like. It seems like a field can have many values associated to it, value, valueAsString, event.value etc. Exactly which value here is sent to the server? And how does the format of the entire HTML looks like?
I have been looking around for this information but I can't find anything. Acrobat Javascript doesn't provide something like onSubmit event for me to stop the process right before the form data is sent.
    Any hint would be helpful.
    Thanks a lot.

One way to test this out is to set up a button that's configured the way you want but with a mailto type URL. When the button is clicked, you will be prompted to send the email with your email client or save the data file to your machine so you can manually attach it to an email. Choose the latter and save it to a file. It will have an FDF extension, but it won't be a valid FDF. Open the file in a text editor and inspect it. It will be URL encoded form data, just as you'd get from an HTML form, and can be processed in the same way as an HTML form submission. So what you get isn't HTML, it's URL encoded form data.
The field name/value pairs will be sent. For fields that format a value for display (e.g., 3.1415926535 to 3.14), you will get the unformatted value.
The valueAsString property is only relevant when a field value is retrieved via JavaScript. It basically prevents leading zeroes from being dropped. Leading zero for numeric values will be included in the form data when submitted.

  • Combining form files

I have 286 separate pdf form files that I need to combine to one pdf file so that I can export the text into a spreadsheet. Problem is that when I combine the files, Acrobat replaces the data on the forms with the data from the first file. For example, one of the fields is 'Name'. When i combine the files, Acrobat fills in the name from the 1st file to all 286 pages of the combined pdf. Obviously this is a big problem. Does anyone know of a remedy for this problem?

Thank you so much! It looks like this function SHOULD do exactly what I need it do; but, there is a bug in the function. When I run it, it only enters the name of each file in the spreadsheet. Adobe is looking into it and gave me a case# to check back for a fix in 24-48 hrs. Hopefully they can fix the issue.   Thank you again!

  • How do you swap out an embed font in a PDF form

Here is my problem, I am trying to get ride of a specific font in a PDF form file.
Before I applied this font "SimSun-GBK-EUC-H(Embedded Subset) the file was roughly 150KB. After I applied this font the file size increased to 800 KB. The major problem is this font requires an extended language pack to be installed, in order to fill out this PDF form.  My computer is installed so it won't be an issue so me, however it will be a huge pain in the butt for the public who usually don't have the extended language pack.   I have already finished editing the rest of the form, I really hope there is a way to swap out this font within something else.
    Any suggestions?
    Update
I decided to redo the form from beginning, just by a small little mistake I added a reset button that uses a different font, now the file size jumped from 150KB to 1.2MB.
I check the file and found 92% of the file size is occupied by Fonts.  How do I get swap the font?  How do I optimize it?
    Thanks!
    Thansk!

By Popup do you mean a link that when clicked causes a separate topic to be displayed in a seperate window (popup) or Drop Down text?
For Popups that are displayed in a new window then the font and colour is changed in the topic that is displayed. Simply open the topic and change colours / features as required
If you are using drop down text and confusing this with a popup then the font and colour is changed when creating the drop down text. Right click the text and select Font to change colour etc.

  • How to generate PDF from file with linked images

    Hi,
did anybody met/solved problem how to create PDF form file, which contains links to another files/images using PDFGenerator? For example from FrameMaker documents which contains linked images; or from CAD files which contains linked components...
The issue is, that the CreatePDF function moves the source file into a temporary folder, and this operations "brokes" the relative links to linked/included files.
