Pdf form for data from another form with data, xml or pdf, tables not expanding

Sir,
I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and LifeCylce to do these forms. I have made several subforms for a Risk Assessment for the mission they fly. I have also made up another form with tables that would connect with each subform data. This form also will give me and others a % of the values received from the data to help us with seeing problem area towards Safety.
I am able to connect the data to the form from the Risk Forms but when I go and add another group of data it over writes the data that was already in the data collection form. The tables are dynamic and able to expand with the generated data but when I compile several Risk Forms, xml. data into one single data group, the receiving tables will not except this data. To compile the data I am in Acrobat and using the form-manage form data-merge data to spreadsheet than enter as a report that is xml. Still not working. I also tried to save the form, with data already in the tables, and then opened it again and add data to it, it will over write the existing data in the form. This form does work great with the generated data in LiveCycle.
Any suggestions???

Did as you said and for each subform binding tab made sure I have "Repeat subform for each data item" checkbox and still no change when I add the data.
I even tried to combine the xml data and that file just has the main page and not the data pages. just another problem that is happening.
Any other suggestions on this expanding tables and receive single forms one at a time.

Interesting is that when exit and open form again, changes is SAVED !?.
If open that form directly, message is that like should be ( Transaction completed...).

SharePoint 2010 and InfoPath 2010 - Load data from another form

Hello,
I have two questions on this topic.
Is it possible to open an empty InfoPath form and give the user the option of loading it with data from a previously submitted form? They want the ability to save some time of filling in some fields that were entered in an earlier form. Any description
of how or a link would be appreciated.
Also, if I create an InfoPath form template in a SharePoint Form Library like above, the user would like to be able to have multiple forms associated with each other. There would be some key that packaged them with each other. Then from within
one of the form, there would be an option to submit the whole "package" at once. All the forms associated with that one key. Again, any examples or links would help.

You can use InfoPath Query Data connection to point to a library / list where your data is located.
For loading data, you should be using Form Load event, and then populate ID's to a Drop down list.
when the user selects the ID from the Drop Down list, you can write another rule to query data based on the ID's from the list and store the values in your current form.
For the second question, you should try creating a single form with multiple views. and show hide views based on user or business logic.
You can write multiple submit rules to submit Form data to different different library / list.

Populate PDF template with data from another form

Hi all, it's been a while since I've been here. I'm not a LC pro by any stretch, but I've been working on a personal project which I hope will someday result in a small business. The idea is simple: a client fills out a custom form in Acrobat Reader which I've created in LC Designer. Upon completion, they email the pdf (or XDF, or XML, or E4X or whatever might be possible, I'm not even sure!) back to my website.
On my end... and this is hopefully automated... the data would be injected into a template PDF the client needs. This would then be sent back via email for them to print.
It's been over a year since I worked on this. Both the front end forms and the pdf templates are built, but the interaction between receiving the client data and populating the template form never got worked out.
Could anyone provide me with a clue as to what this workflow might look like?
Just to be clear, this application would be waaay too small to even think about going the Enterprise route. I'm "thinking" the automation part of it would be handled by some custom PHP coding, but that's another story.

Yes, I am wedded to the idea that I will only use Adobe PDF. The server component is a whole other story though. I understand the value of it, but as a small business, the idea of coughing up 60k is pretty much out of the question. Especially given that this form is a one of a kind, simple, time saver for my prospective clients.
From what I understand about LC, Acrobat and Reader, there are severe limitations imposed on saving form information in Reader. My clients need to be able to do that, as the form is quite extensive and needs to be revisited to be sure information is correct.
While any one user will probably not exceed the 500 submissions issue, hopefully there will be more than 500 users submitting 1 time!
We'll see if I can work around this issue.

Difficulty synchronizing data from VISA resource with data from a physical channel

Essentially what I'd like my program to do is control the electrical power going (sourcing either current or voltage) into a light and measure the intensity of the light at a given power level, and then do this automatically for ~1000 increments of the source voltage/current.
One of my lab partners made a program a while back which does what we want("LIV Sweep Rev.vi" the first image in the link at the end of this post), but it's a bit sloppy: the program is able to interact with the power supply (connected directly to the computer via USB) and make it turn on, increase the voltage/current, and record the "IV" characteristics just fine. The program can also interact with the light detector (connected via NI-BNC 2110) and gather the photocurrent data. The problem, however, is that the data wouldn't be in sync. The photocurrent data for when the light was actually supplied with 1V would be improperly recorded in the cell for when 2V are applied to the light. To fix this problem my lab partner added in a time delay so that the detector will pause for ~0.35 sec (user-specified in front panel) before gathering data.
The program works, but I figured there had to be a better way. The thing about the timing, however, is that it changes from run to run. Sometimes a delay of 0.45 s works well, and other times the power supply will have shut down while the detector is still gathering data (and thus we miss the low end of the sweep). Other times the detector will turn on too early, which will cut off the high end of the sweep.
(Note: I have next to zero experience with LabVIEW, but I know a little bit of java, so I understand most programming jargon)
I spent all day yesterday trying to find out how to synchronize two data aquisitions (my attempt is shown in the "LIV SweepSummerDuncanRev3.vi" in the link at the bottom, 2nd image) but I'm running into trouble when I try to trigger the sample clock using the VISA Resource Name for the power supply.

Change the code such that rather than using a ramp from your power supply, just output a single value. Then do your measurement and then step to the next value in your ramp.
You can use a State Machine (SEarch if you do not know that term in LV).
Some gear will allow specifying a ramp driven by an external clock. If you widget can handle an external clock/trigger that approach could run faster.
Without hardware to syncronize the various sub-systems you would have to resort to using a RT OS and depending on the instruments, even that could be hit-n-miss.
So re-code to step-measure-step-measure etc.

File upload hanging when called from another form

Hi
I have created a file upload form from the documentation I found on metalink and the form works fine on its own. I have then implemented the form into a multi form application and when the file upload form is called from another form it hangs trying to get to the client drive so that it can pick up a file. I have tried using the 'call_form', 'open_form' and 'new_form' built-ins but the results were all the same. Can anybody help me?

How can I pass data from a form guide to another form in a business process

How do we pass data from a form guide to another form(not necessarily a guide) without having to open the form. For example we have a small form guide to capture the contract id so we can then get data from contracts table to present to the user in a form. We want the user to open the guide (either Flex guide or form guide) to enter the contract id. Upon submission we want the process to get the contract data and put it into the form that will be opened at the next step by the user without having a user interact with the form to get the data into it. In other words we need the process to get the data and populate a different form than the form guide the contract id was entered in and this new form needs to be opened in the next step by the user.

Firstly, I'm assuming that you have a Forms ES Server if you are rendering a Guide. This could be either version ES1, ES2/2.5 or ES3/ADEP
If you submit the form back to the server, you can populate a second (PDF/XDP) form with the data bound to the same schema/Data Model using Forms ES.
You referred to the next user in the chain - If you are using Process Management, this is very easy, as you define what form is used to render the data in the "Presentation & Data" section of the Assign Task activity

How to make Copy and Paste buttons to transfer data from one form to another

Hi, a complete newbie here. I’m looking to create a Button 1 that can Copy data from a filled out adobe form, mainly the text fields and checked radio buttons, and then have another Button 2 that can Paste the copied data to another form, containing the exact same text fields and radio buttons.
Example:
1. Click "Copy" in Form 1
2. Click "Paste" in Form 2
3. Fills data from Form 1 to Form 2
Any idea how to do this?

Users will need to uncheck Enable Global Object Security Policy, found in the JavaScript section of the Preferences to do it. That's unlikely to be the case since the opposite is the default.
Take a look at the section of the JavaScript SDK "Querying an Acrobat form field value in another open form" for details on how to do it.

No, you can't change the way this built-in command works. You can either process it later on in Excel, or you would need to use a custom-made script and an Action to collect the data in the format you want in Acrobat and then export it.

How do you print data from a form?

From the interactive report, there's a built in function to print to variious formats (e.g., PDF, CSV, etc).
As long as the columns do not exceed the width of a page, it's okay.
But what I want to do is when a user clicks on 'edit' from the interactive report and displays the data entry screen, I want to be able to have a 'Print' button to print the data from a form.
Don't want to manually modify the URL to change a parameter to print.
Really appreciate any help I can get on this matter!!!

This is quite straightforward using a print media style sheet.
You'll need to identify CSS selectors (usually IDs and classes) from the page HTML for the components and regions that are not to be printed: a web inspector such as that found in Safari, or the Firefox+Firebug combo is useful for this. It's also a good idea to give all of your regions a unique static region ID to assist with this identification. Using this information, you can construct the style sheet to exclude all of the unwanted content using <tt>display: none</tt> rules.
In a simplified example, say you identify that there are 4 regions on the page, and you only want to print region 3. You would add the following style sheet to the page HTML Header:

Offline scenario - post data from saved form to SQLServer

This is the scenario am struggling to develop. User downloads the interactive form. Goes offline. I mean no connection to the Web Application Server. But he will have access to a SQLServer database (it may be on his machine or in his intranet). He will fill the form and save it on his local hard disk. Now, I want his saved form data to be posted to the SQLServer. I thought about a couple of ways to do this.
1) Is it possible to change the control type of 'Submit' button to submit and then in the URL field, call some ASP page (this page is deployed on a local IIS) and then submit the form fields to that ASP page which takes care of database connection, posting etc. So user downloads form only once. But fills it with different data each time and clicks submit. First of all, will submit button work when the form is not opened in web browser? I mean when it is saved on a local hard disk opened in a standalone Adobe Reader?
2) Is it possible to write some java program using any APIs and extract the data from the form saved on local hard disk? It may be possible because I have the .xdp file for the form. But I dont know if there are some APIs available to do the same.
Any inputs whether these ideas are feasible? Any other new ideas are also welcome. Thanks in advance.

if you want to export xml data from Reader to local disk you can use a command:
xfa.host.exportData("",0);
It works like from menu Export data from Forms.
To your second post:
Yes, you can save form in Adobe Live cycle designer as pdf and you can open it in Adobe Reader and test it. It will work.
In tab Submit for your button set these properties:
Submit Format: XML Data (XML)
Submit to URL: url of your page
Encoding: UTF8

Thanks for your answer, I tried the solution 2, I create "Submit" button, and ser the mapping scope to be "All data rows", it only works when I select at least one row, otherwise the data would not be passed.
Another question is I have serveral imported table parameter, for each table I have one "submit" event, I want these tables to be submitted at the same time, but if I click the submit button in one table toolbar, I can only submit the table data which has a submit button clicked, for other tables, the data is not passed, how can I achieve it?
