PDF form not editable

Hi,
I have created a form with an input element and bound the same to a context attribute. I have embedded the Interactive form in my view and set it to enabled.
When I run the WebDynPro application, the PDF gets displayed, but I am not able to enter any data/edit into the input field of the PDF form. I am not able to click on the submit button that I have in the form.
I have Active Component Framework and Adobe Lifecycle Designer installed in my system. Can you help me out?
regards,
Praveen Kumar

Hi,
Please add the following code in the WDdoModifyView method to make the form editable.
data: LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM type ref to CL_WD_INTERACTIVE_FORM,
LR_METHOD_HANDLER type ref to IF_WD_IACTIVE_FORM_METHOD_HNDL.
check first_time = abap_true.
LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM ?= VIEW->GET_ELEMENT(‘INTERACTIVE_FORM_1’).
LR_METHOD_HANDLER ?= LR_INTERACTIVE_FORM->_METHOD_HANDLER.
LR_METHOD_HANDLER->SET_LEGACY_EDITING_ENABLED( abap_true ).
This makes the  form interactive in case you are using forms with Function module-based interface.

Sharadha

  • Making an editable PDF Form non-editable (a shortcut)

How to make a PDF form non-editable or locked.
For those who aren't script-savvy, I believe this may be a little shortcut to editing a PDF form and then saving and sending it as a non-editable or locked PDF.
This is what I have written out for my client, whom I provided an editable PDF Form, so they could edit the PDF and then send it out to their own respective clients as a NON-editable PDF.
    Instructions as follows:
How to save your PDF Form into a separate non-editable PDF to send to your client: (Using Adobe Acrobat Professional)
Step 1. Fill out the original PDF Form
Step 2. Once finished, go to “File” menu and click “Save a Copy” - title the file appropriately and save it to the desktop.
Step 3. Close the editable PDF document and do not save it (Saving it will save over the original file). Now open up the PDF you’ve just saved to
the desktop (you’ll now take the steps to make this file only non-editable).
Step 4. In the top menu, go to “Advanced” then select in that drop down menu “Security” then “Show Security Properties” - a ‘Document Properties’ window will now appear.
Step 5. From this new window, select the “Security” Menu.  Set your ‘Security Method’ to ‘Password Security’.
Step 6. A new window will appear named ‘Password Security Settings’. In this menu, tick the box that says “Restrict Editing & Printing of the document”
you’ll need to a) set a password for it,  and  b) In the ‘Printing Allowed’ drop down box, select ‘high resolution’   and if you want to, tick the
box that says ‘allow the copying of text, images and other content’
Step 7. Click OK and Save the document. Now it’s not editable unless you have the password.
Note: If you happen to want to edit the PDF at a later date, you can open the file and in the ‘Security settings’ menu on the left hand side
(the menu is represented as a little gold lock) click ‘Permission Details’ then ‘Change Settings’ to revert everything back to an editable document
    - repeat the above steps to make it a locked document again.

Thanks for your suggestions. You should also consider flattening a form if you want a non-editable copy; because the permissions password is not always respected by third-party PDF applications (for some people the form will remain editable, depending on what software they're using).
Flattening a form can be done in several ways in Acrobat: you can run a script - this.flattenPages() - or print the PDF back to PDF (aka refrying), or use the Sanitize tool in Acrobat X. It also strips out hidden content associated with the form (button actions, field calculation scripts, etc.) so provides additional data protection. Sanitize is the heavy-duty option of the three; it will remove all hidden content, leaving only what you see on the page.
One correction to your workflow - the Save a Copy menu item is not intended for creating a duplicate of a normal form, it's only available if the  form has been rights-extended and it serves to remove the extension certificate from the PDF (allowing full editing in Acrobat again). As your client is working in Acrobat they don't need a rights-extended version in the first place, and working with a normal form will make things simpler for them. In Acrobat X Pro you could create them a custom Action which automatically flattens the file and saves a duplicate, so they don't accidentally overwrite the original.

  • Error : Form not editable

    Hi All,
we have generated an add-on which insert value to the transcation 4m user form. while doing so....
i am receving an error -
    Form Not Editable.
    Pls try to solve it.
    Regards,
    Avijit

    Hi Avijit,
The reason for the error might be that the field type is not editable, this can be achieved by selecting form settings > Table format>Active for the corresponding field.
The other reason might be that the character length that you have defined might have exceeded the target field.
Hope this might solve the problem.

  • How to distribute on browser a PDF form but editing it only online?

    Hi,
    this is my issue:
I need to distribute a PDF form made with InDesing or Acrobat X Pro and collect data. But...I have  some other requirements/constraints.
    1)     The final user have to edit form only online
    2)     The final user have to edit the form in more work session (also day by day…the form is very long).
    3)     I have to collect data on a database for reporting
    Optionally…
    4)     The final user could not download the final pdf (I would have avoid that he/she print the pdf).
Could you propose a technical solution to implement all this?
    Thank in advance!
    Valerio

    Hi Bernd
I saw that Adobe have web tool also to publish and edit online the PDF... (into Acrobat X Pro - trial ed. - I see that it's possible publish on "some" server).
But - after published - accessing to the form on line I could save locally the file?... will be open with a standard Acrobat Reader to fill the form?

  • How do I save edited PDF forms as editable PDF templates?

We need to download empty pdf forms, add some generic details (eg our company name and address) and then save that as a template so we can then open it and fill out through the year for different clients with their own individual data without having to fill in our own address again.
Preview cannot do this. On Tiger you can save the edited file, but it prevents it from then being editable again; in Leopard you can fill in the form with your data, save it, then open your saved file and edit it again but none of the data you added the first time has been saved.
We have to go into Windows and fire up Acrobat Reader 4.0 which has this functionality. All versions of Acrobat above v4 on both Windows and Mac were unable to do this so Preview isn't alone. It is frustrating though as we have to do this all the time - we fill out tax return forms for many different clients each year and really don't want to have to add our data manually each time.
Any suggestions? Any settings I can tweak anywhere?

    Basilisk wrote:
If Preview is not for editing, why has it been made possible with the Leopard release to reorder the pages within a pdf, delete pages, and add completely different pages from other pdfs?
There's a huge difference between reordering existing pages and altering their content. The PDF specification is quite vast and Apple doesn't even attempt to support much of it because of the work involved.
The bottom line is that Preview doesn't do what you want it to and that's certainly not going to change anytime within the next year, so it's up to you to decide what to spend your money on. Since it seems that you are using this for business purposes I'd say it's a little silly to gripe about such a trivial investment, but again, it's up to you.
You could also hire someone to put together your templates for you.

  • PDF form not working in Reader 7.0.5

    Hello!
We had created PDF form with Adobe Designer to work with Acrobat Reader 7. It contains a submit button to send XML with results via e-mail.
This form works fine with Reader 7.0.0., but not with version 7.0.5. - in the latter version the submit button doesn't work.
    Any clues?

  • Older forms not editable in Adobe X

We currently have Adobe Acrobat Pro X installed on a Windows 7 computer.  Forms created in an older version of Adobe (exact version unknown) will not allow a copy to be made so the form can be edited. It doesn’t allow us to actually “Save a Copy”.  It wants to replace the existing file only.
However once a copy is saved via "save as", the same message comes up so the form is not editable.  This does not happen in forms created with LifeCycle.

It's more of a process than an error.  When the user tries to edit the form she gets the above message.  Then when she does to "Save a Copy" it will only save with the existing file name, won't let us specify another.  At this point the process starts all over.
If we do a "Save As" we can make copies of the form until the cows come home, but trying to edit will still start the above process.
    Thanks!

  • Generate PDF FORM with editable fields

    Hi,
my requirement is to create a document wich has a number of fields which users can fill in. By default, these fields need to be filled in with the data from the database, but editable by the user, the rest of the document has to be non-editable. I'm looking to PDF Forms for this, but am open to other suggestions. I can't get the output to show such fields. Is it even possible?

  • PDF Form not printing all field/letters properly.

    Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me.
I recently created a PDF Form to be filled out when setting up an new customer at my job.
After filling out the form one of my co-workers is experiancing an issue when printing. Anytime he has two or more of the same letters in a field, they do not print.
    (For example)
[email protected] will print as Je  @aol.com and will just pring our a blank field.
Just for fun we tried to pring [email protected] and all we got was "        @aol.com".
This seems to only happen on one pirinter and from my one coleagues computer, no one else.
    Any ideas?
I did update his Acrobat to the most recent version and restarted the computer but we still have the same issues.
    Thanks.

If it only acts up with the one printer. Then it’s a Print Driver Issue. Or some strange Printer problems that can be fixed by:
Quiting the application your using with the printer
    Next Unplug Printer.
IF wired Printer (SCSI, Serial, Parallel, USB, Thunderbolt) unplug computer that comes from Computer
Leave everything unpluged for 2 minutes or more.
Plug Power to Printer back in first
Next Plug cable from Printer to computer in
    Turn power on to Printer
    Open Application
    Try to print Document.
    If prints okay  your done.
If it doesn't Print, obtain the latest Print Drive from Manufacturer
Remove the old driver from computer first.
quit all apps and restart computer before installing new Driver
    Install New driver.
    Now try to print.
If prints okay your done. If not there is an issue with Acrobat.
Yes a Printer can work with 500 of your applications, and utilities, and not work with a particular application. (Usually  a conflict.)
For example Adobe (Acrobat) has a very rich history of conflict with Print Drivers from HP. At time in the past It seemed like a Contest Adobe had seeing how fast they could change something Acrobat/Reader to conflict with HP Deskjet Printers, as soon as HP fixed an issue Hp would change something with a week or two.
Another issue can be be font. Perhaps a Font used in the form is not on the computer that is acting up.

  • Making pdf form non-editable after submission

I created a form for users to fill in and submit by a "Submit by Email" button. The form is being send back as a pdf form in an attachment in an email. After we receive it back and have reviewed it and possibly making changes, we need to save it so the form fields are not able to be changed. How can this simply be done?
    Thanks,
    Chad

FWIW, if your form does not have to be dynamic (grow, shrink, add fields on the fly), it is often better to create it in Acrobat. It's generally easier to create, easier to program, and will have much fewer backwards compatibility issues. There are a lot of things, such as flattenPages, that are available with Acrobat forms that are not available with XFA forms.

  • Checkmarks in PDF forms not being saved

    Hi,
I have a PDF form that I have filled out in Preview.  Regardless of whether I "save" the filled in form (Cmd + S) or simply close it, the next time I open it the checkmarks in the fields that just require a click to produce checkmarks are missing.  This has not always been a problem.  I can restore a version in which the checkmarks are present, but when I close the restored document then reopen it, the checkmarks are missing.  What this means is, at some point in the past, the checkmarks were saved, but now they're no longer being saved.
This is extremely frustrating, as it has been a problem off and on with Preview in Lion.  Does anybody have a fix for this?  No, printing to PDF is not an option, as then the form can no longer be filled in comfortably.
    Regards,
    Richard

  • Why doesn't Preview print out my pdf forms as edited anymore?

A week ago, I was able to print out a pdf form  the way it was editted on the screen using Preview. As of Wednesday, it no longer prints what I have editted in Preview.  It prints the naked, empty form only. No edits.  I have Mountain Lion and am using an hp deskjet 6122.

Assuming that you're talking about printing from Adobe Reader for iPad or iPhone, you either (1) need an AirPrint-enabled printer, or (2) (for the iPad only), purchase a third party app like Printer Pro from Readdle.
    Here's a list of AirPrint-enabled printers:

If you're talking about printing from Reader on your laptop or desktop computer, you're in the wrong forum.

  • Embedded PDF Form Not Appearing in Explorer 8

I have a Joomla site where I have embedded an interactive PDF form that was created on FormsCentral.
The embedded form appears using Window 7 and 8 with Internet Explorere 10 and 11 ... but will show on machines running Windox XP with Internet Explorer 7 or 8. It shows if viewed using Firefox and Google Chrome .. but not Internet Explorer.
Is there a solution to this problem as many of our clients still are using Windows XP ????

  • Convert Word 2007 Form to PDF Form not creating dropdown list fields

I created a new word document with all my text fields with lines and 5 dropdown list fields with all their values.  Works great in Word 2007.  When I convert it to a pdf form (Acrobat Pro X) none of the dropdown list fields get created.  The text fields do, but no drop downs.  If I have to create them all manually in Acrobat, what's the point of doing all the work in Word?

The Word conversion to PDF and Forms Wizard do not detect and do not know how to complete a drop down box. I do not even create the form fields in Word as there is no transfer to the PDF. I also find the Wizard lacking in proper naming and grouping. It is just easier and more efficient to add the fields manually or with JavaScript tools.
The only product that can do this is apache OpenOffice when an author creates the from body and form fields in the Writer application and then exports to a PDF.
