  • Saved PDF form opens blank on another workstation

I have a weird problem I have been unable to resolve. On one pc I have acrobat 6 pro. On another PC I have acrobat 7 standard and on the last pc I have acrobat 9 standard. I have a PDF form that we have been using for the last couple of years that was created in acrobat 6 pro. it is running with no security and you can saved the completed form with no problem. When I open it up on the acrobat 6 pro pc all the text i typed in in the form appears. when I open the same file on the acrobat 7 or 9 pc's the text i typed in is missing. I have been unable to find an answer to this problem and would appreciate any input anyone might have.

No reader is not installed on any of these systems. I could not see any problems with this form either but that form I posted actually is one of the completed forms yet it too is empty. I even went to a friends location and opened it with his copy of acrobat and it to was missing all the text filled in fields.

  • Export PDF converts filled PDF form without the data - Turns filled PDF form onto blank Word doc. Is there a solution to this or did Adobe just sell me a service that doesn't work?

Export PDF converts filled PDF form without the data - Turns filled PDF form onto blank Word doc. Is there a solution to this or did Adobe just sell me a service that doesn't work?

ExportPDF is not for forms. In general, converting forms to Word is a really, really bad idea which can even cause legal problems. Work with the form as a PDF. Acrobat (not Reader) can export form data as simple text for example.

  • PDF forms open with data in Acrobat 6 but open Blank in Acrobat 9

I have various forms which I have filled with data using Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional. Now When i open them using the same, it shows the data inside the form (like it should).
Unfortunately, there are these new forms released that are not compatible with Acrobat 6 Pro, so now I upgraded and have both Acrobat Professional 6, and Acrobat Professional 9 installed.
When i open the forms with data which I have saved when i used Acrobat 6 Pro, they open all blank in acrobat 9 pro, what shall I do.
I have been looking for this answer for days now. All the data is very important, and I do not want to loose it, these forms are my business please help...
I am stuck in between different versions of Acrobat. Thanks.

    Hi there,
I'm having this exact same problem, so I wanted to bump this back into circulation, since I've yet to find a fix - let alone any information on it - anywhere.
I can't attach a file at this point (confidentiality), but I'll try to create one that I can upload.
In our case, they are Government forms.  I know they have security on them, and I know that Acrobat 9's security differs from that of Acrobat 6, so I have to figure something 'broke' in the compatibility.
Basically, we've used Acrobat Standard 4, 5 and 6 for ages.  I finally got the go ahead to upgrade everyone to 9 Standard (and a few to 8 Standard).  These forms, which were filled out over the past number of years, all show up fine in any Acrobat (Reader, Standard or Pro) from version 7 and below.  Opening them in 8 or 9 show the form in it's entirety, but the fields completely blank.  If I open it again in a lesser version, the data is once again viewable.
I'm really hoping someone can point me in the right direction.  Although I've read the contrary, I can't believe Acrobat would create a product that didn't allow you to open previously created PDFs - even if it takes a patch, or plug-in, or some sort of setting change.
Well, that's my call for help.  Hopefully someone has some answers since this thread died a year ago.
    Thanks!
    Dave

  • Trouble opening a PDF form (getting blank tab)

I'm having an issue in Firefox on Windows 7. My company's intranet has a PDF form that I need to complete but it won't open properly. With the option for PDF files set to "Use Adobe Reader", the PDF opens in a new tab but the error “This PDf document contains forms. This filling of form fields is not supported.” is shown. When I change the option to "Use Adobe Acrobat (In Firefox)", a blank tab is shown. Normally selecting "Use Adobe Acrobat (In Firefox)" works and that is what is set on other computers. I just won't work on this one. I've upgraded from Firefox 29 to 33 and that did not help. Can anyone help me?

Hmm, "Use Adobe Reader" should launch the PDF outside of Firefox in the stand-alone Adobe Reader application, so seeing it in a tab is something of a puzzle.
Could you check your version of Adobe Reader? For Windows 7, you normally would have the Reader XI series (Reader 11), which has had several updates. From inside Adobe Reader, you can use Help > Check for Updates to make sure it's current.
In Firefox, could you check your Adobe Acrobat plugin version or possibly versions? You can view that on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. If you find multiple versions, this can cause problems and may need to be cleaned up manually (post back on that for suggestions).
Sometimes, the settings file which stores those download handler preferences becomes corrupted and there's not much else to do than to rename or remove that file and let Firefox rebuild it.
To do that, open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This will launch a new window (Windows Explorer window) listing various settings files.
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
    * (menu bar) File > Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''mimeTypes.rdf''' to something like mimeTypes.old
Start Firefox back up again and "PDF Files" should be back to their default setting of "Preview in Firefox". Try changing that to "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)" and test to see whether there's any improvement.

  • Why is my PDF form empty (blank) when I open it from my Iphone?

The only solution I've found is to download adobe reader on my Iphone and open the PDF form with this app... Do you know if there is an option when creating a PDF Form with Adobe Acrobat Pro to allow people to see a PDF Form with their Iphone?

    Hey peterlavigne,
Please let me know whether it is a simple PDF form or a form designed using javascript?
For normal PDF forms, you might need to refer the link given below:

  • How to paste into PDF form opened by Adobe Reader?

    Hi,
I need to fill out and fax a PDF form online that I've opened with Adobe Reader 9. Typing in the information is straightforward enough, however I can't seem to be able to paste onto the form. Is there some feature that I need to change that will enable me to do this?
I know the alternative is to print out the form and then fill it out but my preference is to do this online, if possible.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Do you mean "open in full screen mode"?
If so there is an example here: https://acrobat.com/#d=JK2I24ZgmsvMr6BtCQNMOg
The script is in buttons to show the separate functions, but you can combine the ones you want in the docReady event.
    Hope that helps,

  • Any Function in a PDF form opens a different window of the same form

    Hello,
I have a customer who uses forms pulled from our company's SharePoint site. Within the form there is an "Open" button that she clicks on which opens a window within Adobe Pro to the location on our SharePoint site that stores her completed PDF forms. In SharePoint, there is a "copy" option which obviously creates a copy of the selected form into the storage location. The issue is, that when she clicks on copy, another window to the same storage location opens, this time in her web browser. In the past she would click on "copy" and, from within Adobe Pro, the page would simply update and show the copy of the document.
Additionally, when she clicks on any function or button from within the document a new version of the same document reopens in a different window. By the time she's completed working on a form she has roughly 6 or 7 windows open.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention that she is running Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 on a Windows 7 64Bit machine.

  • PDF form open in viewer not browser

I'm having a problem with a PDF form on my website. I've tested it up and down with no problems, yet I'm getting feedback that users complete the form, click "submit" and nothing happens...and I don't get the form using form central.
I've determined that the problem is that users are completing the form in a web browser, rather than in adobe reader/acrobat.
I would like to make a change to the form, or something with my site that would automatically open the pdf in a viewer (or detect if the user does not have Acrobat) - versus having to hope that the user follows the directions that I've posted to my site.
    Please help!

    Hi;
Yes, unfortunately when you post a PDF online as you discovered it does not work right when filled out in a web browser and you want/need users to download the PDF and use Adobe Reader or Acrobat to fill out the PDF.  It sounds like you are likely doing what you can - directing users as to what to do, you can see if you can get a good recommendation from the Acrobat forums on this topic (it is a general PDF issue and not specific to FormsCentral): http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat
You also might want to do some google searching, this Stack Overflow discussion might be helpful: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6794255/html-download-a-pdf-file-instead-of-opening-the m-in-browser-when-clicked

  • Completed PDF form showing blank on iPad/iPhone

A few months back I asked for some help making some functionality on a PDF form work.  Here is the link to that post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/783271?tstart=0  I used a "read only" button/JavaScript to make the forms based on the help in the above post.  I discovered this weekend that the forms show up blank when viewed on an iPad or iPhone after they have been filled in and "locked" through the JavaScript button.  I did some quick Internet searches and found that completed Acrobat/Adobe forms have known issues displaying on the Apple iOS.  So based on this information, am I correct in my assumptions?  (I know my completed forms are not viewing correctly.)  Also, is there any fix for this issue?  Is there a workaround?  Am I just making my forms incorrectly?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I was going to just let it go and forget the iOS problem but I decided I would post here and see if anyone has some advice.
    Thanks

The problem is indeed the PDF viewer used in the iPhone does not support PDF forms. It is not related to how you created the form.
You can approach the problem in tow ways. Either use a PDF viewer on the iPhone/iPad that does support forms, or flattent the form before distributing it. The former approach may not be feasible, and the latter approach cannot work unless the person preparing the document has at least Acrobat Standard. Reader cannot flatten a form.

  • PDF Form opening on Acrobat X

I cannot open a downloaded PDF Form on Acrobat X on Mac, but it opens on Acrobat Reader. My Plug.in AcroForm is loaded. Any hint or halp available?
    Message given by ACROBAT X:
"Unable to read the form. Do not save and exit the program as it might cause data corruption or
loss. The form can only be edited using Adobe Reader software!"

    Hi,
Thanks for the tip. I disabled JAVA and got now the following message:
"If the form is viewed in "Protected View" mode, all features should be
    enabled for the form to
function properly. If after enabling all features this message is still
    visible, check that JavaScript
is enabled in Edit Preferences Javascript"
Enabling JAVA leads again to the initial message?
    Best!

  • The pre filled fields from downloaded pdf forms are blank; e.g.; prefilled pdf forms from insurance companies.

I download pre filled pdf claim forms from the web site of my insurance company. The fields are not pre filled with my personnal data ( name, address, etc) like it is supposed to. Furthermore, I cannot even type my own data in the blank fields. All of this works all right with another browser.

The new built-in PDF viewer does not have the capability to do fill-in forms. Development is still underway on enhancements to the PDF viewer.
In the meantime, you will need a PDF application that can do fill-in forms (Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader are 2 free PDF applications that can fill-in PDF forms).
*You have Adobe Reader 9.3.4 installed, but it is a very old version and needs to be updated due to security issues.
    *Check your Plugins - https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
*Info about Adobe Reader - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-adobe-reader-plugin-view-or-download-pdf-files?esab=a&s=pdf&r=0&as=s#os=winxp&browser=fx19
You can change Firefox settings to use another application's plugin to fill-in forms in Firefox instead of using the built-in PDF viewer as a default. Here's how to do that - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/disable-built-pdf-viewer-and-use-another-viewer

  • PDF form is blank in SFP

Hi I have a requirement to add some texts to a PDF form. It is copy of a standard form Payment advice note.
When a report is run which calls this form it shows some output on the PDF. But when I view this from in SFP , the form layout is totally blank? Any idea?

    Hello,
The problem probably is the language of the form is different from your user language. That means: go to the properties tab  of the form/ layout and check the language. Next login using this language and you should see what you expect. You can copy the form layout to yor language or print it using original language or copy the designer elements to the clipboard and paste to the new form. Good luck, Otto

  • PDF document opening blank with just a frame.

I have a computer when it opens up a PDF file that is created by a certain user I get a blank document with a frame. If I open the same PDF on another computer it opens fine. I can open other PDF files on this computer with no problems just when I try to open PDFs from this one user. Is there a way to set Acrobat Reader back to its default settings to see if that will help.
    Things that I have tried.
    - Uninstall and reinstall Acrobat Reader
    - Running version 9.3.3
    - Running Windows XP SP3
    - Tried a new user profile on the computer
    Thanks

    Hi usatravel,
I'm having the same exact trouble with opening a pdf file.  I'm able to view it from another computer and I can view other PDF files from my computer but when it comes to opening certain docs in the company database, I'm not able to view, I get just gray screen.  I'm sure it has something to do with the settings.  My technical support team is baffled and he can't seem to find the trouble.  He's uninstalled the program and re-installed it, but to no avail the same problem.  If anybody out there is familar with the problem, please help!

  • Fields in PDF form are blank: Another Preview question...

So I get that filling out a form in Preview can create a problem where the end user cannot see the info in those fields unless they click on them.  But I have some additional questions:
    1. Is just viewing a PDF in Preview without making any changes enough to cause this problem?
    2. Is it only Windows users reporting this problem or are Mac users having it as well (when trying to view it in Acrobat or Reader)?
Here's why I ask:  We created this form but send it out to clients to fill in and return.  I sometimes view these returned forms in Preview because the info loads faster than it does in Acrobat.   No issues there.  But with one form in particular that we received today, anyone trying to subsequently open the form in Acrobat is having a problem.  It seems to be just this form that is causing the problem.  I'm not sure what the client used to fill it out, but they sent back other forms that don't seem to be a problem, so it seems unlikely this one would have been filled out using a different tool from the others.
Also it appears that Mac users AND Windows users are having issues seeing the fields in this form properly filled out.  Heretofore, I've only read of Windows users having this problem.
Any insight would be appreciated -- thanks!

A form has to be saved in Preview in order for it to be corrupted, not merely opened. What OS is used when opening a corrupted PDF in Reader/Acrobat doesn't matter.
