PDF Format Oracle Reports font size is not consistent.

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
Their key map is:
Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS server is generating and saving the report in the specified location. The problem is sometimes the report font size is very tiny (especially headers & footers), it is happening for few reports. What could be the reason is there anyway to make sure that always the generated reports font size is good.

it is happening for few reportsSo is the problem that the same reports-module sometimes has the right font and sometimes not, or is there one report which has always the wrong font?

  • PDF Format Oracle Reports font issue

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
    Their key map is:
    Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS ser is generating and saving the report in the specified location.Reports are running on the server locally and DESTYPE=FILE. So the Oracle Reports output is saved on the server itself. Whenever i open the report on my machine/server i have font issue. Some of the reports has very tiny font. It seems the reports generated by using oracle reports which is Arial Unicode font type is causing the problem. If any reports other then Arial Unicode font like Arial Westrn, those reports are fine. We have 1000s of reports. So we don't want to change each report font type. For me it seems the issue is with the font on the server. Is there anyway to ask App server use Arial Westrn if Arial Unicode not found. How to make these configuration changes in the server. Any suggestions please.

Maybe this helps or at least points you in some direction ...
Have a look at font aliasing when configuring Application Server : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_font.htm#i1006140
If your Application Server is located on Windows I would suggest to install the fonts there.
In Unix, this a more complex task.

  • Printing a Dashboard in pdf format with bigger font size ?

    Hi,
When we are trying to print a Dashboard with few reports in pdf format, the font size seems to be very small in the print, and it is not readable.
Is there a way where in we can make the pdf's print a bit larger?
    Thanks

Yes, at last I managed to change the look and feel of the generated PDF, including the font.
The attributes of all the objects that can be affected in the pdf output are kept in 2 .fst files: for general attributes in pdfstyle.fst and for pivottable attributes in pivot.pdf.
These 2 files are present for every skin, like Oracle_10 and Siebel77.
Try a global find and replace of 0.75pt to 4.0pt and 8pt to 20pt in pivot.fst. Save the file, restart the presentation server, log in again and try print to pdf of an existing pivot table. It will have thick borders and a big font.
I still do not understand that the same attributes are kept in 2 different files. For a color-change it is necassary to change the file views.css and the .fst file(s).
Good luck changing fonts and colors.

  • How to Change Report Font Size in 11i

    Hi,
Please let me know how to change font size of an existing report in Quick steps.
Basically the printed report font size is too small. We change the font size from the printer but still it dose not change.
We have 11i on Unix Server and a dot matrix printer.
The report is character based and Report Builder shows Courier 10, print style is Portrait. We need it to be 12-14.
    Thanks!

  • How to send the output to PDF format in reports 6i?

    Hi,
How to send the output to PDF format in reports 6i? I given Mode = BITMAP.
    DESTYPE = File, DESFORMAT = PDF, DESNAME = C:\x.pdf.
Report is running fine. But PDF file not generated. I don't know what i missed. Any one can help this?
    Thanks
    Kavitha

    Hello,
Do you get this problem only for DESFORMAT=PDF ?
    Test with :
    DESFORMAT = RTF, DESNAME = C:\x.rtf
    or
    DESFORMAT = HTMLCSS, DESNAME = C:\x.html
    does it work ?
Check if DESNAME is modified in the reports itself.

  • I have iphone 4s and just bought an ebook for ibook, trouble is the font is so tiny I can't read it and the font sizer is not working? Please help!

Hi, I have the  iphone 4s and just bought an ebook for ibook, trouble is the font is so tiny I can't read it and the font sizer is not working? Please help!

    Hello Glittergirl68,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the function to reseize the Font in an iBook is not functioning properly.
I recommend a few things here. First close all the apps that are running in the background:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
When you have done that, restart the phone, and try again.
If the issue persists, I would follow these steps from the article:
iOS: Troubleshooting apps purchased from the App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702
    2. Check for app updates
You can setup apps to update automatically in Settings > iTunes & App Store, but make sure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
If  prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the app updates.
Note: Some apps may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You can also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.
    4. Restart the app
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app.
    5. Restart your device
Turn the device off and on.
    6. Reinstall the affected app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it:
Tap and hold any app icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle and show a small "x" in the top-right corner of the app.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the app you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the app and all of its data from your device.
    Press the Home button.
    Go to the App Store.
Search for the app and then download it again.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Font Size is not correct in the exported PDF-File

In the Report is the Font Arial Size 8, but in the exported PDF-Fildethe size is only 7,15. The Fontsize in the PDF-File is always smaller then in the Report.
I use Crystal Report XI. With Version 9 is everythink ok.

In Crystal Reports 10 and 11, exported fonts are shrunk by 5% to avoid field truncation.
For version 11, create the following registry entry and then set the value to 1 to maintain the font size:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
Please back-up your registry before editing.
    Cheers,

  • Oracle Reports 6i - image do not show on html

    Hi,
I am using Oracle Reports 6i, on Windows 2000.
I am running the reports from a Java Web application using RWServlet. The reports are just fine if I use PDF as DESFORMAT, but the images are not shown if the DESFORMAT is html.
The architecture is with the application running on a different server than the Reports Server and the Oracle 8i database, which reside on the same machine.
    Any idea, why?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Whew...lot's of questions...let's see if I can help (at least a little)...
    1. Quite possibly, the user is/was pulling the image from the database? I do this in my environment, so it might be worth a look.
    2. You should be able to print in any format from the web. You may need to adjust your destype/desname/desname parameters.
    3. Only thing I can think of here is that maybe the original report was not written using a standard web-friendly font?
    4. There's a couple of ways you can get data into an excel file:
    A. Use DDE and poke the data right into it (messy when you need to print the regular Oracle report too).
    B. Add an option to print to file and set the desformat to DELIMITEDDATA. Be sure to go through the data model and set Exclude from XML Output to 'Yes' for fields you don't need. Also, be aware that this may not come out in the same order as they do on the printed report. You can read about this on Metalink.
Hopefully that helps you a little bit. :)

  • Oracle Reports Font Standardization

We need to make our Oracle database and applications Unicode compliant. To do this we have decided to use the UTF8 character set. The NLS_LANG Oracle registry string can be set to use UTF8.
We have decided to use the Andale font. This means the data items in all our forms and reports need to be set to use the Andale font.
With Oracle Forms, a property class can be used but with Oracle Reports I'm not sure how this can be implemented so the font for all our pre-existing reports can be changed in one place. Oracle reports does not have property classes like Forms does. You can create a Reports template that can be selected from the Reports Wizard before the layout is generated but as far as I can tell that would require regenerating the layout for every report every time a font change is required. I don't want to do that I just want to have it changed from a reference like Forms has with the property class that can be inherited.
Do you know how Oracle Reports works in this regard? Is there a clean way to set up Oracle Reports so the font for all data items can be changed in one place or will I have to manually change it for every desired item in every report? There is also the possibility of creating a custom Oracle registry string for font and using that but I don't know if that is a good idea.

    Hello,
If Cyrillic or any other locale served by a single-byte font is the only requirement, then it is easier to achieve success. You can use UTF8 in your database, and use the appropriate single-byte character set in your Reports environment (e.g., Windows 1251 for Cyrillic). There are still issues that may need to be resolved - for example, Reports doesn't generate the corresponding IANA characterset marking at the beginning of the HTML file, nor put the specific codepage marking at the beginning of the RTF file to force the respective applications to use the correct codepage if it isn't the user's default. But most of the issues are pretty straightforward to remedy in one fashion or another.
In general, to get past a wealth of issues today (e.g., availability of fonts, performance, issues with graphs, printer drivers), it's generally easier to set up multiple web/application server environments, each one dedicated to serve a particular locale or range of locales (e.g., Western European). This can be front-ended by a generic servlet that senses the user's browser settings, and redirects to the appropriate environment.
Note for Reports 9i, we've rev'ed up to PDF 1.3 format, and provide support for font embedding and subsetting, and also multibyte support via the 4 Asian font packs that Adobe offers as options for the Acrobat Reader.
There are other locale-specific and multi-locale improvements to Reports 9i, too. But a pure UNICODE web/application server environment will remain a challenge to implement for a few awhile, yet.

  • PDF format of Reports (Very urgent)

I am using developer 6i forms & report server to run my application on the web.
My forms r working quite fine. My reports when I run my reports in HTML/HTMLCSS format the output comes well.
But when I set FORMS60_REPFORMAT=PDF in registry to get the output of the reports in PDF format, the browser opens acrobat reader, but does not open the PDF file and an error comes 'Error while opening the document'.
But in the temporary folder of reports server the output of the desired report is created perfectly well. When i open that file directly by giving the path of the folder separately the browser shows that document very well.
    I have tried IE4, IE5, IE6.
When using Netscape 4.7 when report's URL is sent to browser, the browser shows save as window instead of directly opeing the file.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks

Maybe this solution from Metalink will help you:
    fact: Oracle Reports Developer 6
    fact: Oracle Reports Services
    fact: Microsoft Internet Explorer
    fact: Acrobat Reader 4.0
symptom: Running Report with Desformat=PDF and Paramform=HTML Returns Blank Page In Browser.
cause: Problem documented in <Bug:784236> WHEN PARAMFORM = YES AND DESFORMAT=PDF WEB REPORT SHOW BLANK PAGE WITH IE
and <Bug:761674> PDF STREAM TO IE DOES NOT WORK WHEN PARAMETER FORM ENABLED
Problem closed as 3rd Party product problem
    fix:
    Use the following workaround
    1. Click on the Report name and bring up the property palette to show all of the properties for the whole report.
    2. Under Report Escapes->Before Form Value, change form method from post to get.
This will then do it dynamically for the report without having to save a static paramform.

  • Unicode support in PDF format :: Crystal Reports XI R2

    Hi,
We are using crystal reports XI at present. While generating the report using JRC and exporting the same in PDF format does not display the unicode characters (japanese). However, exporting the reports in RTF format or displaying HTML content using crystalviewer displays the unicode data properly.
We have heard that CR XI R2 package does this support in displaying the unicode characters for PDF format.
So we have downloaded the latest files from BO forum and we tried. But the result is the same, it does not display the unicode characters.
Is there any work around to display the japanese characters??
Changing the font type to MS-MINCHO in the respective fields in the RPT object does this trick. But we almost have 35 rpt files and needs to be supported for European and as well asian languages.
Changing for the font type for every reports or keeping different RPT files for differnet languages will be tedious to do.
Is there any JRC method available to set the font type @ runtime?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Issues in exporting SSRS report to PDF format in Report Server - Blank spaces are deleted

    Hi Gurus,
I have a problem in exporting SSRS report to PDF format. It deletes all the blank spaces when I use bullet in a Text box and try to export to PDF formt in Report Server . For example
    •             Project submitted to the TRC
    Result in PDF format:
         • ProjectsubmittedtotheTRC
I also noted that when I try to export to PDF in Visual Stuio 2005 (Business Intelligence development studio), it does not delete any blank spaces and shows the correct aligned Data in PDF format.
Please help me as it is frustrating a lot
I would highly appreciate for your quick response

Was there ever a solution found for this as i have the same issue.
When bullet point is entered in a field all the spaces are removed when exported to PDF
i tried exporting to excel and it does not remove spaces, however this is no use to me as it needs to be in PDF
Using IE 7 (Don't think the browser has anything to do with it as this happened via a subscription)
Didn't know SSRS had specific Service Packs, i though they came as patches to SQL Server (SQL Server is on Service Pack 3)
This should be easy to replicate all you need to do is copy text containing a bullet point into a sql server database field and then add this field to a report export to pdf and the spaces are gone
    Thanks in advance,

  • Change Report Font Size for Printer Friendly Page

I have a report using a template of 'Reports Region' and I have a link to a printer friendly page. Because the report text is so big I would like to make it smaller. I have already reduced the width of the report region but that has made 2 page reports run into 4 pages. I tried adding tags to the page to modify it but I was only able to make the text at the top of the page smaller and not the report. I tried modifying the theme_V3.css file but I could not find a place to modify text/font size in the report (This was trial and error as I am unfamiliar with css).
I would like to only have it smaller on the printer friendly page but if I will be forced to change it all the time I would like to know if there is at least an option.
If the only way to make this happen is to build a custom report then so be it. (But again the printer friendly page only pulls in the current page and I want it to only be small on the printer page)
    I am on V2.2.
    Thanks

You need to use a print media stylesheet. You'll need to find class(es) or other CSS selector(s) to attach the font size rule(s) to - look at the HTML source for your page.
