PDF Forms - continuous text

I am trying to set up a PDF form for a client using Acrobat Professional since I don't have LiveCycle (I am on a Mac and don't do a lot of web based projects).
See attached file for example of what I am trying to do: The fields at the top are all individual and the user can tab through them, but I need to set up a set of text boxes in the comments section on each one of the lines shown (client wants the lines for hand completing purposes instead of computer use), but as you get to the end of one line, I need it to immediately go to the next line/box below without having to tab. I know you can set this up in LiveCyle but I don't have access to this. Is there a way to make this happen in Acrobat Professional?

Hi Torben
I found your script very helpful for a similar problem to an original post you replied to. Thank you so much. In my example I've used it because I had an indented first line.
Have you ever used this script in a way which would allow deleting of type back through the fields? I've been finding that once a mistake is found in the typing, the whole block of text must be started again, as well as there being no possibilities of selecting all of the typed text in those linked fields to copy and paste elsewhere (eg into an email or Word).
I know this post is a little old, but if you're available to reply if you've done this before or seen it done, I'd be very grateful.
Thank you
Lisa

  • PDF-form looses text style on another computer

I created a PDF-form with text fields using our corporate font. My colleague has to open it in the Preview and insert text into those fields (she has corporate font installed). But while opening and typing the text, she got my text style lost (corporate font and probably its size). What should I do for she types in my forn and get the same text style as I have? Thank you.

Do NOT use Apple Preview to open PDF forms. It corrupts them in various ways and is very buggy.
Stick with Adobe software for best results.

  • Acrobat Forms - Continue text to another sheet

OK so I am sort of teaching myself to create forms in Acrobat.
We have a memo that is a .docx format that I'd like to convert to an Abobe form. The reason being it just seems redundant to edit the document in word - only to then save it as a PDF and insert it the page(s) into a PDF package containing other plans and details in PDF form. I have designed a form that actually works great... except for situations where the "details" of the memo exceed the text box size of the sheet. I need some way to continue the text onto a second sheet. Then the user can simply save the PDF and insert it into their plan set with other documentation. Is there a way to do this? My first thought was just create the form with a second sheet already in it. But like I said, it just depends on the complexity of the project that the user may not even need that second sheet. The downside to that is making sure the user deletes that second page if it isn't necessary. The document also has to be able to be printed to Letter size if necessary.
Attached is an example... you can see the area I am referring to with the green arrow. The details of the project could be four or five paragraphs or just one.
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

You can set up a form to automatically expand the multiline text field to another page if you create the form in LiveCycle Designer as a dynamic form.

  • I have created a .pdf form with text boxes, but the recipients are unable to fill in their answers.

How can I distribute a form with text boxes so that the recipients are able to type into the boxes?

This forum is for the Adobe FormsCentral (formscentral.adobe.com) which is a service that allows you to create, collect and analyze data using an online web form. You should ask PDF related form questions in the Acrobat forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/forms
I'll move your post to that forum so you don't need to retype it. They can help you out...

  • PDF Form with Text in Particular Font

I have created a Certificate of Completion in CS4. It is 8.5x11 and, among other things, has a TIFF certificate background and border overlaid with text. My customer wants a PDF in which they can type two pieces of info: the name of the awardee and the date. These go in different places and in different fonts and sizes. How do I create such a PDF so that only this info can be entered, and entered in the correct size, font and area?
Should I post this in the PDF forums?

Basically, you need to create a pdf form.
Add a text field to your form.
There you can choose which font your want the text to appear in.
The trick is, when you export from InDesign, in the "Advanced Tab" — set "Subset fonts when percentage…" to 0%, so the whole font embeds.'
I believe there's an option in Acrobat to embed the font as well, but I'm not recalling what it it.
But that will ensure the font appears correctly.

  • PDF Form Printing Text, but no Form

I have an accountant trying to print a PDF Form.  It cannot be saved, but only printed.  When the form is completed and printed, it only prints out the entered text, and nothing else.  All other PDF docs print fine
    IT conditions:
She prints to an older Panasonic Copy machine
    Her printer connection is Shared
Another PC can print the same form 100% fine and that machine goes through here PC to the printer.
    Completed Troubleshooting:
First discovered she was on Reader 10.1.3 and the other PC was 10.1.1
Did a complete uninstall of 10.1.3 to include deleting from registry
    Installed 10.1.1 with same issue.
Verified all a printer and reader settings are the same for both PCs
    Attempted work arounds:
Installed doPDF virtual printer to try and save the completed form as PDF
PDF prints text and form text, but not the field borders for each block
Installed Nitro PDF as default PDF reader, same issue.  Will not print out the field borders.
    Additional Troubleshooting:
Ran full virus and malware/spyware scans with no issues.
    Specific Form:
    https://forms.in.gov/Download.aspx?id=4722
Searched all over the internet with Google and have had no luck finding any suggestions

When you print it, the box that pops up should say, under the Comments and Forms box, "document and markups".  Hope that helps.

  • Adobe PDF Form: Include text in table

    Hi,
Im kinda new to Adobe Forms, and this may seem like a very basic question.
I have copied a standard SAP VAT invoice adobe form and Im making changes to it.
I have added an "include text" (which has multiple lines) to an already existing table with multiple columns.
The problem is that while the include text prints correctly when it expands, the entire table does not expand along with it.
So when the include text goes into many lines, it exceeds the table boundary and overwrites other areas of the form.
The table layout is like this .
    Column1                Column2 Column3 Column4 Column5 Column6
Inc text                    50$        1.00       PAID       DELIV
    Many Lines       -
    Line3
    Line4
    Line5
Is there any grouping or somehting that i have to do?
    Thanks,
    John

  • Interactive pdf form with text fields. Chinese fonts

    Hi All
We have designed an interactive pdf with text fields. We need the text fields to be in a Chinese font. I understand that this cant be done in Indesign (change the inputting font to Chinese) I have moved the file over to Acrobat Pro and used the text property to amend the font to Simsun but when we try it out the font is still in English. Any ideas on how to remedy the problem??
    Thank you in advance

  • Fill in pdf form with text

recieved a pdf form and need to fill in the lines with text
    using acrobat pro9 mac

Is it a fill in form (if so, then you should get an i-bar as you move over the fields)? Are you filling it out in Acrobat or the MAC preview? The latter has problems with PDF forms and should not generally be used for this need.
If there are no form fields (not fillable), then you will either have to add form fields yourself (maybe the MAC version has the recognize fields feature of the PC version -- assuming the form is actually text and not just a picture). The other option is to use the Typewriter tool.

  • Interactive PDF Form Field Text properties InDesign CS6

I am new to InDesign CS6 (upgraded from CS4) and after advice when attempting PDF form creation.
Is there a way of defining text style of text colour font for the form field,
(in the same way thay is possible if I was editing the PDF within in the text properties of Acrobat).
Or do I need to export and change the font and colour properties from Acrobat (which would be a shame).
    thanks
    MattHM

Short answer…no, you can’t do that in InDesign.

  • PDF form, vanishing text when click

    Hello
I´m working with a form were car dealers can fill out name, address, registration numbers and so on when they sell a car.
If I make a text field I place a standard text inside the field "write here" so they know were to write.
How do I do to make the standrad text to dissapere whem they click on the "write here text"? I only get to the point were they must mark the standard text and then write a new text. If not the standard text is still there and the new text put behind.
    Is it possible?

Also, if you don't want the default text to print, add the following line of code:
// Set field to not print if empty
    event.target.display = event.value ? display.visible : display.noPrint;

  • Error when editing a PDF form

I created a PDF form with text field boxes and saved it. I opened it and was able to type in the field boxes no problem.
When I try to edit that same form and then re-save it the field boxes are suddenly no longer highlighted or able to type text in them.
Do you have to re-create a form each time you want to edit it???

I was able to figure out why they werent showing up. I stupidly had the "read only" button on.
Next question, how can I set it up so that when the form is typed into and then saved that it cant be edited after that?
Example: someone enters text into a text field, then saves it under a new name, then emails it to a 2nd party and they can not edit the text in the field box.
    Thanks

  • Import XML into Single Page PDF Form - Form Repeats

I have a created a PDF form in Acrobat, which is a single page that has about 16 text fields to be filled in. The data I am importing is in an XML format. I am able to import the data for a single page with no trouble. I would like to be able to import multiple pages of data and have the form repeat with the corresponding additional data.
    For example,
    - I have a "grid report" that is 3 rows and 16 columns. Each row of data represents a separate page. The data is converted to XML format and saved as a single file (see below sample).
    - I have a single page PDF Form with text 16 fields. The text fields correspond to the column data from the "grid report"
    - (Desired) After importing the XML data into the single page PDF form, I would like to have a file that has 3 pages. Each page is a replicate of the original form.
              - The data contained in the 16 fields of page 1 reflect the data from Row1 of the "grid report"
              - The data contained in the 16 fields of page 2 reflect the data from Row2 of the "grid report"
              - The data contained in the 16 fields of page 3 reflect the data from Row3 of the "grid report"
I am not sure if I need to change the format of my XML, or if there is a way to add a tag of some kind at the end of the PDF From that indicates the (blank) form should repeat for each <Row> of data.
I am open to other reporting/form applications, but I am having a hard time finding anything online that indicates this specific functionality. I would think that this is a pretty standard process, but I am having quite the time finding a solution. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

  • Can CreatePDF write on PDF forms?

I have a few documents that my company uses and don't want to carry around my laptop all the time when I can take out my iPad and get things done quick.  We have some PDF forms and I noticed they will not work on an iPad.  Will this program allow you to fill out PDF forms with text input fields?  Is there a program for the iPad that will allow this if this app does not?

With Adobe CreatePDF app, you can convert Microsoft word , excel documents and many other file types into pdf. However, this app cannot be used to fill forms.
    Thanks,

Why can I only import xml, xdp, or xfd files into my pdf form? Text (tab delimited) is not an option. I'm using Acrobat X Pro. Thank you in advance!

Hello George -- The form was not created by me, but appears to have originated in Acrobat.  I also saved a copy with LiveCycle Designer to view/edit in design view.  Unfortunlately both files had the same limited formats for import.  Thanks, Julie
