PDF generation special characters not recognized

Dear All,
I have problem with special Croatian characters šđčćž when generating reports in PDF. I am generating reports with Report server 6i and sending it with email.
I read that solution may be PDF:subset, but I am not sure that I can do it with report server 6i.
Is anyone had the similar problem?
Regards,
E.

Hi,
Developer 6i does not support PDF subset (that is the easiest way to achieve this). In 6i you can try the following approach.

    Hi,
    I am facing the same problem. My report developed on Windows Server 2003 FTPed to HP-UX. And when running the report as Oracle Apps concurrent program shows "symbol" fonts instead of Areal.
    Document 207711.1 about font subsetting is also not looking very helpful because other reports developed with same font and size are producing correct output.
    Please write if you have found solution of this problem.
    Thanks

    Wow the customer service is even worse. Does Apple want me to go around jailbreaking my iPod now so I can use something that actually recognizes my product?

  • Special characters not available in interactive pdf

    Hello, when typing in one of the textfields in my interactive pdf I noticed I can't use special characters like é, à, ê, ...Instead I get Ø
    I can't choose the font so am I stuck with this characterset?
    We need the forms in combination with the forms on our new website. When filled in on the website this interactive pdf gets created automatically so we can work with the data so it's quite important people can fill in their data correctly.
    grtz

    What version of InDesign are you using?
    Might help an upgrade as a similar error was in CS6 in German where we got different letters than ÄÖÜäöüß.

  • PDF with special characters (é, ñ) needs to be legible cross-platform(mac & pc)

    I am using Illustrator to design a PDF. Because it's in Spanish, accent marks and other special characters are needed (á, ñ).
    When I export the PDF from the ai file and view it on my mac it looks fine. However, when I open it on a pc some of the special characters are completely missing.
    I tried Creating Outlines with the text, although it will make it harder to update in the future and so less preferable to leaving the text editable. Creating Outlines works fine on the mac, however on the pc the L's appear thicker than they actually are.
    Does anyone know how to make special characters legible cross-platform when creating a PDF using Illustrator?
    Thanks!!

    Does anyone know how to make special characters legible cross-platform when creating a PDF using Illustrator?
    Yes. You use a correct OpenType font that has the glyphs in the place where they belong and can be embedded without limitations. Older TrueType or PostScript fonts are simply unsuitable as are fonts that cannot be emebdded and require to be installed locally. It all comes down to system language settings vs. the unified environment inside acrobat. This also requires any PDF to be created on systems with the language settings correct in the first place, i.e. creating Spanish text with a Japanese version of AI would be pretty desastrous due to how foreign language fonts are accessed... check these things and then try again. If possible, enforce embedding of the full font in the PDF settings, not just a subset and choose a suitable font.

  • OTF to PDF missing special characters

    Hello!
    I am trying to convert OTF output (SmartForm, spool) to PDF and it works fine, except that special characters (in this case, Croatian) are not printed well. In original document (SmartForm print preview and output) everything looks fine.
    I checked OSS and found some notes like
    141343 PDF Conversion: Latin-2
    588724 PDF conversion: incorrect special characters with Latin-2
    but suggested solutions didn't help.
    Is there something else that can cause this problem? Are there any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Igor

    Just trying to troubleshoot here, have you tried different printer types? Same result?
    I guess you have followed the SAP notes correctly right?
    If you still have the problem and you are sure you've implemented/followed the notes correctly, you better open a OSS message for it. It may be a particular problem with your Unicode environment... strange...
    Sorry cannot really help much.

  • 1st Generation Ipod Touch not recognized by Itunes 10.3

    2nd generation touch ipod is no longer recognized by itunes. The ipod has been reset and the only screen image is the itunes icon with an arrow and a USB cord connection pointing to the itunes icon.

  • 3rd generation iPod Touch not recognized by Mac & iTunes!

    My 3rd generation ipod touch is not recognized on iTunes but is recognized when I plug it into a different computer. I've tried reinstalling iTunes numerous times and have referred to other online tutorials. With no success, my iPod will still not show up on my Macbook, and I've never experienced a problem like this before with either device. My mac and itunes still recognize my iPhone so I don't know why they would recognize one device but no the other. Solutions?
    Any feedback will help greatly. Thanks.

    It should work fine.  I have a 1st gen shuffle, and it still works...
    If you are updating to iTunes 11.x for the first time, iTunes may hide the sidebar initially, which is where the shuffle appears.
    If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the shuffle should appear under DEVICES.

  • 3rd Generation IPOD Nano not recognized

    I have two 3rd generation IPOD nanos that are not being recognized by 4 different windows XP systems. One of them is a 4G unit that my daughter has been using for at least half a year. It is not being recognized when plugged into the USB. The other one is a brand new unit that is also not being recognized. I have installed and uninstalled the iTunes software and have the latest. I have reset the IPODS. I have double checked the USB drivers and such. Rebooted. The whole bit. The 5 R's +.
    On my system at work, they are not recognized either. However, I plugged in somebody else's 2nd generation IPOD nano and it was immediately recognized and happy. So this is clearly some kind of 3rd gen IPOD nano issue and likely some kind of software issue that has recently happened.

    Mate i have had this problem for ages managed to sort it with itunes 7.4 but i have the problem again.
    It is becoming very frustrating to say the least, and no matter what you say on these forums or the amount of times i have emailed apple i dont get any answer.
    I basically have over 100 punds worth of equipment on myy desk which is a waste.
    And no one is helping from apple.

  • German Special Characters not displayed correctly in RTF  using code

    Hi ,
    In my code we are using webdynpro method
    WDResourceFactory.createResource(
    byte[] data, String resourceName,WDWebResourceType
    Type)
    Here in our code we are implementing this as
    ITemplateElement templateEl = wdContext.currentTemplateElement();
    WDResourceFactory.createResource(
    templateEl.getReportData(),
    reportName.substring(0, reportName.lastIndexOf('.')),
    WDWebResourceType.RTF); reportName.lastIndexOf('.')),
    Here templateEl.getReportData() returns a set of bytes which has some
    german special characters.
    We are generating the Bytes using String.getByes(),Just before
    String text = new String(in);
    collector.putBusinessObject(boName, bo);
    reportDocTemplateParser(collector, text);
    collector.removeBusinessObject(boName);
    String generatedText = collector.generateRTF();
    out = (null != generatedText) ? generatedText.getBytes() : null;
    The out put is the if i am giving a word with german special characters for eg:
    Betriebsübersichten it first gets converted to bytes and then passes through method WDResouseFactory.createResourse(.....) which creates an RTF file and finally in the RTF file it appears as Betriebsbbersichten the special character is not displayed correctly.
    i came to knw that while converting into bytes we have to make it RTF supported encoding.ie for eg generatedText.getBytes('cp1252').i even tried with other charactersets like ISO-8859,cp1253 and so on but none of them worked.
    It would be really great if you could suggest the needful.
    Thanks and Regards
    Neeta

    I soved this by using get_data function of response object. Then converting this into ISO-8859-1 charset.
    See code below.
    DATA :  lv_encoding   TYPE abap_encoding,
              lv_conv       TYPE REF TO cl_abap_conv_in_ce,
              lv_x_string   type xstring.
      lv_x_string = pv_http_client->response->get_data( ).
        lv_encoding = '1100'.
        lv_conv = cl_abap_conv_in_ce=>create(
                              encoding = lv_encoding
                                 input = lv_x_string ).
        lv_conv->read( IMPORTING data = pv_result ).

  • 2nd Generation Shuffle is not recognized by iTunes or My Computer

    I bought a 2nd generation Shuffle for my sister in August. It was washed once in November or September she cant remember. It has worked perfectly fine. The only problem is that when we plug it into my mom's desktop it says the device is not recognized. I have updated to iTunes 7 or whatever the latest is, I have done the 5 R's that Apple Recommends. I even downloaded and tried the Reset Utility sill nothing. But what I don't understand is I can plug it into my laptop and it works perfectly fine. If anyone can help I would appreciate it cause im going to school soon and she wont be able to user her iPod and I wanted to get info before I submitted a service request. Thanks
      Windows XP

    If you bought it in August, it must be a 1st Gen shuffle...2nd Gen wasn't available for purchase (in stores) until November.
    Are you plugging it directly into a USB port in the back of your mom's computer?

  • Special Characters Not Displaying at Logon Screen

    Hello, my daughter set her password on her iPad using special characters and has been able log in  by holding down a certain letter on the keyboard and choosing a latin character.  This is no longer working as the popup menu doesn't appear when holding down on letters anymore.  She recently updated it to iOS8, but claims that she was able to log in at least a few time since the update.
    Is there any trick to making these special character menus appear again?  Thanks so much.

    Hello Paul,
    I once used hexadecimal coded characters like &xnnn; and they were not transformed. When coding them in decimal, everthing worked fine.
