Pdf hangup in Stellent UCM contributor mode

Hey all,
I am having a problem when I try to make a contributor change to one of my pages. I select the page then select the "Choose External URL..." layout in Manager/Contributor mode to load my pdf. Once I put in the URL and click OK, the contributor page just hangs/sits there. It won't let me click "Apply". I have to refresh the page to get the hangup to go away and repeated attempts to load this pdf (and other pdfs in different pages) all hang up. This happens even though I have the latest IE and Firefox.
What could be causing this issue?
Your help will be appreciated.

Under the metadata field websites I have set it to myWebsiteName, it is set by pressing browse and then putting a check in the box next to the website you want to assign it to. The criteria for the workflow is Field: "Account" matches value: "Customer". The Account is set to Customer on the CDF metadata field. This does kick off a workflow because I get a notification but I have to reject and approve through ucm not contributor mode.
I have a second test site that I will try a workflow on but I am pretty sure the green icon is not working on that one either. =\

You can create new secondary pages in contributor mode - you would normally do this via a dynamic list fragment though technically you could also achieve it by switching region content and creating new data files. You can then use the linz wizard to link between pages.
If you are talking about creating new primary pages and sections in your site then you would need to use something like Site Studio Manager fragment.

UCM contributor green gear

The green gear icon is not showing up while in contributor mode when an item is in a work flow. What are the configurations that we should check to ensure this icon is enabled?
It is my understanding that a contributor can click on this icon and accept, reject or edit using this icon, is that correct?

How do you set the default view of a PDF portfolio to be the Files mode?

I can set my personal view of portfolios to that, but if another user opens it, it shows the preview mode. It needs to be accessible, and I read Files mode is the only way. We want to load a PDF portfolio onto our internet for anyone to view, but it needs to open in the Files mode. Thanks

Then have a function as follows:

Export as PDF and viewing in full screen mode

Using LR 4.3, I'm exporting a slideshow to PDF. Even though I turned off transitions in LR, the transitions automatcally start in Acrobat X in full screen mode.
My goal is to present ths slide show with a mouse click, or arrow key, to move to the next slide in full screen mode. Any ideas?

Yes, because Acrobat has its own transition settings that take precedence over the settings in Lr.
In Acrobat go >Edit >Preferences >Full Screen and under <Default Transitions> select <No Transition>.

How do I display PDF in 'book' or 'facing pages' mode?

I don't mean VIEW> PAGE DISPLAY > TWO-UP.
I've created a PDF document designed to be a book. I need the first page (the cover) to come up by itself, or with a blank on the left. Then all subsequent pages to display side by side, odd numbers on the right.
When I open the document in Acrobat Reader Pro it displays it just fine, automatically. But with Adobe Reader it displays page one first, on the left side, and page two on the right ... making the whole document out of sync. There is no blank on the left, nor does it display page one all by itself (as does 'Preview' in Mac).
The document is going out to a dozen people who are helping with the edit. It is imperative that they view it properly. They will all have different Readers. I'd like to recommend they all get Adobe Reader for now (as it is free and comes for both Windows and Mac). But I have to be able to tell them how to set the preferences to get a (BOOK MODE or FACING PAGES).

Contributor mode for external users (SSXA)

Hi All
On our environment we have UCM 11g and SSXA (with deployed application) and
ActiveDIrectory provider configured on WLS.
I created WCMContributor group in AD and WCMContributor role in UCM
The goal is that external users in WCMContributor group in AD has contributors rights in SSXA (lets be user “test1”)
Weblogic.xml in application has below block:

But I get error for user test1:
ERROR: Error creating the contribution markup for placeholder 'ContentPlaceholder'

Could you please provide a bit more details:
If I create local user ‘test2’ in UCM, add him to WCMContributor role and add him to weblogic.xml - it works:a) Do you really use local users; that is, those created only in User Admin applet? b) Or is it rather that you create users in the security realm of the Weblogic server? I'd actually expect that a) without b) won't work - except for few admin tasks (running applets as standalone applications), local users should not be used in 11g or higher. If you do just b), it's an external user, just coming from a different source.
My guess is that rather than external vs. local, the issue is that mapping of roles from AD is somehow mis-configured (that is, your users don't actually get the role assigned). Any one noticed issues when UCM contributor data files indexing in GSA

Hi Guys,
We are using Google search appliance to crawl UCM content (native documents).
We don't have any issues with search results in this way. We are using dynamic converters to convert these documents into HTML in site studio web sites.
But we have plans to move to site studio contributor data files (XML format).
From your experience, any one noticed any issues in search results with UCM site studio contributor data files indexed by GSA.

Thanks for the reply. I would discard the first one, because
I already built the whole site using XML Data Sets, and the idea
from the start was to use my own Atom feed to update the site. But
the second one seems like a good choice, but I'm a bit puzzled. I
was already using Spry:content for the pages that don't index
correctly, putting them on an empty <span> tag so that they
hid unloaded references... could you elaborate on that second
choice, then, please?

Viewing PDFs in Safari in 64-bit mode - how?

For me, in 64 bit mode, Safari insists on using Preview to view PDFs (and which is slow and clunky).
If I make Safari downgrade itself to 32 bit mode, it properly calls up Acrobat to view PDFs.
How can I have Safari running in native 64 bit mode and call up Acrobat to view PDFs on webpages? Or is it not possible?

If you have Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro installed, the plugin they install to view PDF files in Safari is not 64-bit compatible. Aside from that, unless you have more than 4 GB of RAM installed in your machine, you will not benefit in any way from running Safari or any other application in 64-bit mode, so you should be running everything in 32-bit mode.
Because Safari is perfectly capable of rendering PDF files on it's own, you need to ditch Adobe Reader or Acrobat Pro, or at the very least, deactivate them so they are not called when you want to view a PDF file. To do that:
Quit Safari if it's running.
Start Adobe Reader and/or Acrobat Pro.
Go to Preferences > Internet and uncheck the box at the top where it says "Display PDFs in browser using:", or something similar to that.
Quit Adobe Reader and/or Acrobat Pro and restart Safari to test it.

PDF's open in Read-Only Mode

Hi,
I purchased a Windows 8 (not pro) 64bit system and installed Acrobat XI Pro, I never installed Adobe Reader. The computer and Adobe are both fully updated and I am running into the following problem.
I look for a pdf in my windows browser and when I see in the Preview Pane (which I have eneabled) Acrobat opens the PDF's but will not let me save any edits I make to them. At first this was happing to local and network files but it is not only happening to files in my network drives. I did the following to resolve the problem (which worked, but only for Local Files NOT PDF's in my Network Drives):
1. Stopped the services for all Adobe products.
2. Re-named my AcroRD32.exe to AcroRD32.OLD
3. Opened windows explorer to use Acrobat as the Previewer instead of reader.
This onlly worked for the pdf's I have saved locally, not on network drives.
I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. I receive the following error when leaving a file selected in Preview Pane and working on it simultaneously and try to save it:
"The document could not be saved. The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."
I have also selected a different file in the preview pane and then tried tosave the file and it worked. (This confirmed to me that the problem was with the Preview pane, but only on PDF's saved in a network folder, not locally)
Any suggestions, answers, help? Please and thank you, I appreciate everyone's help or comments!!!!

Am getting the Error "No form is open in the Acrobat viewer" while trying to instantiate fields list inside the form via an AcroForms object. The problematic code snippet is given below

The GetFields method is giving error in Acrobat 9 but its working fine in Acrobat 7 and 8.
Since the AV layer methods are working fine in Acrobat 7 and 8, please let me know why they are not working in Acrobat 9 and if there is any workaround.
Also, if I use only PD Layer methods, can I access the form fields inside the PDF?

Integrating WebCenter Interaction 10gR3 with UCM Contributor 11gR1

Hello,
I found there are services such as WCM_BEGIN_EDIT_SESSION to do it but I wonder what is really available within a WCI portlet.
For instance :
- does it give access to the placeholder menu (like in a site studio website) ?
- does it highlight the contribution region too ?
- if yes, does it give access to the same options like "switch content", "document info", "edit" ?
- Is the edit form available from WCI like a site studio website ?
- Is the FCKEditor working as well in an edit form from WCI as from a site studio website ?
- when switching content, can we browse into UCM and/or local system ?
- would you have already done such integration showing it is feasible ?

15.Click the Switch Placeholder Definition Role value, and select the admin security role from the drop-down list.
In this step, I can't find "Switch Placeholder Definition Role" in my SiteStudioDemo.xml, so I jumped over this step, but when I run the startSiteStudioDemo.jspx, press ctrl+shift+F5, login with weblogic/weblogic1, IE displayed an error message showing insufficient access to create placeholder, the wls startup console showed the following message:

Since I didn't finish step 3.2.12.15 mentioned above, I doubt that was the reason for the issue, the point is why I couldn't see "Switch Placeholder Definition Role" when I edited SiteStudioDemo.xml?

Merging of PDF at runtime in UCM

Can anyone tell me how to merge the PDFs at runtime & to view the merged the PDF.

Hey there,
You can use the Folios Renderer to do this.
Step 1. put all items into a folio. If they are not already in a folio, run your search query to find all the items you want. Check the check box in the search results and then select "add items to folio" from the 'Actions' drop list near the top of the search results.
step 2. once the items are in a folio (a simple folio is enough) select "Download PDF Rendition". This will create a single, merged PDF of the items in the folio IN THE ORDER IN WHICH THEY ARE LISTED
