Pdf has grey background?

Lately, all the pdf files that I open have a dark grey background on them... it makes it hard to read and even harder to print....
HELP! Why is this happening? these are files I download or that are emailed to me. I am not the creator.
I have never had problems before.
Acrobat version 10.1.13
Windows 7

Without a sample or a screen shot, there isn't much we can do to assist!

PDF has black background

When I import a PDF, all of the text areas are black. Images are fine. Same with more than 75 PDF files. Perhaps I am doing something wrong?

Please don't think my tardiness in answering is lack of interest. This is an on-going 'background' project here in the office as we attempt to post some PDFs.
These are all taken from an 'ePaper' version of the newspaper where I write a weekly column. I wanted to make the columns available to people as PDFs, not as tiff, for all of the usual reasons. Should be simple, right?
But this is proving to be more difficult than I imagined.
I thought about converting to tiff and then using linked smaller images; people would click on the preview and download the pdf. But this can be onerous when you have a lot to do and a lot to keep doing. And it obviates the use of Aperture, which is how we handle all images; the workflow that I imagined involves adding the PDF files to Aperture each week, and then publishing to a gallery. Sweet.
Not sure what direction to go now, though.

[Dashcode] Image as button, has grey background when pressed

Basically what I have, is button that uses transparent PNG image as the selector to play a sound clip when pressed. All works as intended, but when I press the button/image, the rest of the "work area" gets kinda highlighted in grey, with rounded corners.
How do I remove this "effect"?
Shouldn't overthink things: naturally it's shaded as it's button, using plain image as the trigger works as I wanted it to.

In Cp4, did you play with the slide quality settings in the Slide properties dialog. If so try setting all the slides to high(or optimised) quality and publish the project.

Grey Background of Arcobat program conflicts with Grey PDFs

I have a client who use a grey background & border on their ads. This grey background is almost exactly the same colour as the background colour of Adobe Acrobat Professional - so when I view pdf's I cannot see where the pdf page ends or starts as it merges with the background colour of the Adobe Acrobat Professional program.
In previous versions of Adobe Acrobat Professional the page had a black drop shadow and the program grey was lighter so this was not an issue.

Disconnect all devices from the MBP when troubleshooting to avoid conflicts. Try the following by clicking on all the links until you try the one that hopefully works:

Grey background while saving pdf file as a ZIP in IE browser

I am getting grey background while saving pdf file as a ZIP file in IE browser like below screen shot
The pdf open properly but when I click on save button on below screen it become grey.
The file is getting saved properly.
But the same thing working fine in firefox(I will not become grey while saving)
we are using adobe 11 version.

The latest drivers from official site (HP Universal peinting PCL and Universal printing PS v 5.8.0)
When printing pdf files from Acrobat Reader, Adobe Acrobat or FoxIt the grey background appears on the paper. The content of the file is printed normally. Printing from the other sources (Word, Excel, NotePad) is OK

Converting from Word 2013 to PDF - grey background appears

When converting my document from Word 2013 to pdf, it appears to be on a grey background. Now my images are "sticking" out instead of blending in.
How can I get the background to appear white, as it does on my screen.

Be sure that WORD gets patched too. Often these problems turn out to be OFFICE issues. You might try a sample print to paper to see the issue. Also, AA is at 8.1.6.
There have been several problems folks have had with WORD 2007. The updates help some, but it is almost as though MS put some hooks in WORD 2007 to cross up Acrobat in some cases. I have run PPT documents with earlier versions of WORD and Acrobat with no problem. WORD 2007 would produce a totally different result that was not expected. There are even differences in graphics that you put in a DOC file versus a DOCX file. The latter seems to be doing some strange things to graphics. I would tell you more, but I really try to stay away from WORD unless I need it for compatibility with others.

Grey Background Error

Hello! I have had a book printed with lulu before with no problem. But this time, some of the illustrations in my book randomly have a grey background, when they should be white. I am confused because every single illustration comes from the same PSD file when i was making them, so they all have precisely the same white background. When I open the individual images up in Photoshop to check the background colour, they are all the same, all exactly white. When I open the PDF images in Photoshop, they are all white, all 100%. I don't understand why it is that just some of them turn up with grey backgrounds in the printed copy... Anybody got advice? If you need to see anything to understand what I'm describing, please let me know

Is the best thing for me to do is try something else besides JPGs,
They work for me (at 300 or more DPI). I doubt they remain as jpgs once a file is converted to PDF anyway.
and select "lossless compression" when saving out the PDF?
I use Word and I have never actually changed the defaults on Word's Save As PDF, and they are > Standard (publishing for printing) - Page Range [All] - Document - Document Structure Tags - and the ISO option.
The original files are JPG yeah. I put them together using Photoshop. But - all files are in one master PSD file when I am working on them, so they all have precisely the same background, and I am just switching out the layers I am working on above that background, which is why this has me scratching my head. They are all precisely the same colour, but a few of them come out grey when printed.
I assume you Merge all Layers?
I compile the JPGS in OpenOffice.
If all the images are in one file, how are you creating a Word Docx with them?

Saving photoshop file as pdf but transparent background turns white

Am trying to save file created as photoshop file (which has transparent background) as pdf to send to printer but when I reopen the saved pdf file it appears to be on a white background? Can anybody help please?

What are you "reopening" it with?
"Photoshop PDF" is not enough information. The PDF options window has various settings for PDF versions - Acorbat 4, Acrobat 5, Acrobat 6, etc. Actobat 4 will not include transparency or layers. Acrobat 5 will include layers but not transparency, Acorbat 6 will include both layers and transparency.

Grey background in converted text

I added some shadow to text to have it converted to an image (PNG).
This looks good at the iMac at home. At some PC, which also doesn't show the navigation bar, the text gets a grey background. Example:

Something similar here: http://www.hasselo.eu/photography/Gallery-photo_course.html where the button "Gallery" at the top has a grey background.
I assume that not all viewers will be able to see this because some browsers show it well and others don't.
Is there something in iWeb that I can do to fix this?
Is this because it is PNG and some browsers have an issue with PNG.
Alternate solution is to type the text in a graphics program, save it as jpg and at this to iWeb so that iWeb does not have to convert to PNG.

Pdf phase black background

Sometimes when I export an InDesign document as a pdf, the pdf has a black background. I am using InDesign CS5.5 on an IMac with OS 10.7.5.

Kyocera 3035 prints grey background in Mail & Safari

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, whenever I print with Mail, a grey background appears in the message portion.
With Safari, the entire document has a grey background.
Printing from other programs is unaffected.
I am printing to a Kyocera CS-3035 using Snow Leopard's built in KM3040EE.PPD driver v8.4

After the update to 7.1 it will not be. I did my 5 and set the transparency off and it is not as greyed but it is no longer translucent/transparent as before the update. now it is as same as the 5S i have.

Detect the centerpoint of an object on grey background

I have many photos I want to center my crop script.
It is done already, but now I want to more:
Is it possible to detect the top right down left sides of the object in the grey background and give me the x,y center of this object?
The object is always surrounded by grey background.
The grey background is almost allways similar and with no dust (almost...).
I can imagine that I could create a rough tile selection (larger or smaller), move it on all the image to read the colour and leave what is similar with the first lefttop reading. Then select al the remains: my object.
But something tells me that there is an easy and smart way of doing this with not much processor saturation.

Doesn't work. I only do this when the backgroung is flat color.
My grey background has smooth variations and it trims the image on all of it, not only the object.
It should be helpful if the trim dialogue could have a fuzziness % to tell what I want to really select.

In Numbers I have grey background color in some cells, when the rest of the sheet is white background. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.

Probably nothing. The default 'blank' template in Numbers contains a table which has one Header Row and one Header Column. The grey fill is there to draw your attention to the fact that these cells are different from the 'regular' cells in the rest of the table.
If you are starting a new document and you do not want any header rows or header columns, I would suggest starting with a Plain style table.
From the Blank template there are at least three routes to a Plain table:
Open a Blank document from the Templates Chooser
Click on cell A1
Go Table (menu) > Delete column
Go Table > Delete Row
You now have a table with no header columns and no header rows
Open a Blank document from the Templates Chooser
Click on any cell to activate the table.
Go Table (menu) > Header Rows > 0
Go Table > Header Columns > 0
You now have a table with no header columns and no header rows.
Open a Blank document from the Templates Chooser
Click on the Table 1 icon in the Sheets list to select the tabel.
Press delete.
Click the Tables button in the Toolbar and select Plain from the pop-up menu.
You now have a table with no header columns and no header rows
For more information on how Header Rows and Header Columns differ from regular cells, see the Numbers '09 User Guide, Chapter 3, Working with Tables, with particular attention to the section on Working with Rows and Columns in Tables, starting (in the edition I have) at p 56.
You can, and should, download the guide through the Help menu in Numbers.

Pdf with transparent background

I put a logo inside a PDF. The PDF has a transparent background. When I import the PDF into FCPX, the PDF's background is opaque white. When I import the same PDF into Motion 5, the PDF's background is transparent. I want transparent backgrounds in FCP. How do I do it? Does FCPX support transparent PDF files?

But since with pdf you don't get the support for transparency,
there is as middle-of-the-road solution.
You can rasterize and choose a big-enough resolution for your purposes.
In Preview, if you save as png, you can choose a resolution of, say, 300 dpi, or 3000 dpi.
Of course, the larger the resolution the larger a file you get. This is not as elegant a solution as a vector graphics, but it works and lets work with transparency. Call it a workaround if you will.
I suggest you keep the original pdf and try with a few different resolutions in png to find the sweet spot between file size and zoomability. Keep in mind that very large files may also diminish performance somewhat.
