Pdf has white line on one edge

I have jog photos going to the edges of the page - bleed is set to .4mm - but get a white border on the rhs - see attached. using Indesign CS2...help!

Me too! I have the same problem and I don't know what is causing it!
I use Indesign4 and the background is definitely covering the whole page.

Display image issues
This can include bright or dark pixels, lines in video, or sections of video missing.
1.Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
2.Verify the issue is not content related, by viewing different content.
3.If the image is too dark, adjust the brightness. In General Settings choose Brightness and Wallpaper and slide the slider.

Viewing a pdf in Firefox browser has white lines. How can I fix the problem?

Viewing a pdf document in the FireFox browser (other browsers the document is fine) shows white lines though the pictures. I have tried different ways to save the document (printing or save as) as a pdf and I either get white lines or missing content while viewing on Firefox.

Please update to the latest version of Firefox.

Which pdf viewer are you using?
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and click Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac).
#In the Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac) window, select the ''Applications'' panel.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right hand side you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

PDF has white gaps between images

Hi,
I'm getting white lines between InDesign rendered images when viewing them in Acrobat.
ie. When I place a .psd file with trasparency onto another image and make a PDF, the area around the psd file has a faint white line.
I've looked into it a bit and seen that these are called atomic gaps or something and will never show on print. Also that I can turn off 'Smooth Line Art' in preferences to remove them (which then screws up other areas).
So the client isnt happy with an explanation of it, and would prefer a fix. One that makes everything look nice on his screen.
Is there fix? A way I can make InDesign or Distiller render the whole image maybe?

If you can't use PDF 1.4 (Acrobat 5) due to your service provider, then this is known as stitching and is only visible on screen. It does not effect final printed output.
In Acrobats preferences turn off smooth line art (Preferences > Page Display > Rendering > Smooth Line Art). This may have a visual on screen effect on type etc.

PDF has white areas due to overprinting?

I'm printing from a clients PDF file and it has blank white area where one of the images should be. When I turn on simulate overprinting the graphic appears. Is there a was to do a conversion in this pdf so that when I rasterize it inside photoshop or send it to a rip that the areas don't come up blank? Thanks.

I tried running various preflight analyze and fix settings and none of them make the white object print as it should, which is not white but a vector graphic. But when I turn on simulate overprint the object does show up. But when I try and rasterize in PS or send it to my Colorburst RIP I get white. Idealy I would make the PDF myself from the clients Indesign file, but they are often just middle men themselves and have nothing to do with the file creation.

PDF - Thin White Lines Present

Hi there,
When I "print" as a PDF file from my .ai file, thin white lines appear in the PDF where frame edges would normally be invisible.
Is there a way to create the PDF without this happening? And, why is this happening?
If this has something to do with not flattening my artwork before I create a PDF, then how do I do that?

You are giving him a PDF file.
The problem is that he is literally ruining the content of the file by converting the PDF file to a raster image in Photoshop and then printing that, in other words it looks like your printer is using Photoshop as a “poor man's RIP!” The transparency effects in your PDF/X-4 file are being flattened at whatever resolution your printer sets the Photoshop image to be. In fact, transparency blending should be performed at the printer's RIP where such flattening artifacts that you are seeing are avoided.
You say you don't have your choice of printer?
Would you say you don't have your choice of physician if a doctor told you he was going to do an appendectomy by operating through your nose? Would you claim you don't have your choice of physician?
Professional incompetence is professional incompetence. If you have a “printer” who is really printing PDF files by opening them in Photoshop and printing directly from Photoshop to the device somehow, you are dealing with demonstrable incompetence!
The advice to find another printer is the best advice that we (including Adobe) can provide to you!

The Screen Has A White Line Running Left To Right Or (Vise Versa) & A White Line Up & Down. Very Noticeable @ Start-Up And Visable At All Times When Screen Is On. The Unit Has Never Been Dropped Or Mishandled! The Laptop Sits On A Logitech Stand Along Side My Recliner Or On My Lap On The Logitech Stand. Only Moved Back & Forth By Myself! Noone Else Has Ever Used The MacBook Pro. Would Anyone Please Respond, If They Have Had This Problem Or Knows If There Is A Setting Or Anything I Can Do To Remedy This?? SAPSCRIPT to Web(pdf) has different line spacing than in SAP?

When we issue to output the order in SAP it looks fine. When we open it in the web, using PDF, the lines are spaced differently.
We have never had an issue before, but now we added a lot of text to a final page of the sapscript.
Any suggestion how to adjust the PDF line spacing for output via our SAP Function Modules that create OTF to PDF?

Hi,
The SAPscript must generate an OTF output and then you convert the OTF into PDF format.
There are 2 possibilities :
1.Without generating any spool :
2.When calling OPEN_FORM function module, export parameter OPTIONS-TDGETOTF = 'X', and when calling CLOSE_FORM function module, use returned parameter OTFDATA
call CONVERT_OTF function module to convert the OTF to PDF. Returned parameters are BIN_FILE (the PDF binary) and BIN_FILESIZE (the length of the PDF binary). See below how to save a PDF binary to a file.
If an OTF spool has been generated, you may convert it using CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF function module. Returned parameters are PDF table (the PDF binary) and PDF_BYTECOUNT (the length of the PDF binary).

Screen has white lines across it. Can barely read Screen. Is it fixable?

Someone was throwing my phone and it hit the back of laptop. Not even that hard. But now lines are all over screen.

Illustrator CS3 - Bug? Export to JPG has white line on outline of image

When using the export (under file) in Illustrator CS3 to save the image to a .jpg file I save it as a RGB (was created initially as CMYK) using quality of medium, method = baseline (standard), depth = screen and anti-alias checked. I tried a number of variations from these standards. THis is what was used on the image you can see at http://www.punchitupnow.com. You will see that a white border (even though made sure to use yellow border color) is present, especially on the bottom of the image (look closely as the image include yellow, which blends with the page color). I you use the file > save for web option you get a preview that shows the white border on the bottom of the image. Any ideas why this is showing? Is it a bug?

Jacob is saying you should use a crop area.
You should also consider setting the Matte (in Save for Web) to match the background-color of your page.
Also, you really should work in RGB from the get-go to design anything for the web at all... There are lots of colors in CMYK that don't exist in the RGB gamut and vice-versa.
I'd suggest using a smaller image or just some text on your page while it's under construction, or maybe a combination. The way it's set up now, it's kind of annoying to have to wait and look at that horrid yellow while waiting for an image to load only to find it won't do anything for you.

After printing a few good lines, the print fades or has white lines through it. Suggestion?

My HHP 1610 has been causing me problems for months. I've replaced the cartridges a couple of times. I sometimes don't use it for a week or two so have dabbed alcohol on the ink disbursing face of the cartridge to moisten it. Neither the colour nor the black are working well today. How do I know if I need a new printer?

Try the troubleshooting steps here.
It is not good to manually wipe the nozzles, you can force air into the nozzle plate which can cause issues. Also, alcohol should not be put on the nozzle plate, it can cause the plate to delaminate from the underlying electronics. Alcohol can also dry out the capping station using the rubber to crack.

Apple TV has white lines, poor/no audio, flickers

We have just finished suffering through ongoing issues with our Apple TV. Screen would go blank or flicker consistently, usually about 20 minutes into a rented or purchased video. Tried a range of solutions (changing to lower resolution, hardwiring to the network, etc.), but could not isolate the cause. Reset the system, updated the software, unplugged/replugged the HDMI cables, etc.
I should have remembered my basics.
After switching the HDMI cable from the existing port to a second one on the TV, all the issues went away. And have stayed away. It seems to have been an issue with the TV's HDMI port, which was not the one originally used when I bougth the Apple TV, but we started using the poor performing port when we tried cable for a bit. (BTW, combination of MLB + Hulu + iTunes = no cable. I only get a box when we need to watch a particular sporting series)

A restore does solve the problem, however if I wait a few days to use the Apple TV, I end up with the same issue...No sound. I then have to reset it to factory Settings again. My Apple TV was working great and then I updated the latest and "Greatest" software.....Since then I've had these issues. Any idea what would cause this ?
