PDF Hyperlinks

RH7
WebHelp Pro
I have some PDF files in ../../../Images/PDFs/. The
hyperlinks I have created work in View Selected Item but not when I
View Primary Layout in Internet Explorer. I moved these files
(within the project) from the top level folder to a newly created
PDF folder, and think that may have something to do with it.
However, I can't solve the problem by moving them back to where
they were moved from. I do have Adobe Reader 8.0, BTW.

Hi harooki2
If they are in Baggage and the path is correct, about all
that is left that could be the issue is maybe you have Mark of the
Web (MOTW) enabled and you are running locally off your C drive
instead of from a server.

  • Pdf hyperlink and CF

I am developing a coldfusion web application that contains a
page displaying a pdf created in Autocad. The pdf contains a
building's layout and a hyperlink has been created in each of the
    rooms containing the room number.
The question is - how can I get CF to:-
    1) Detect the user clicking on the hyperlink in the pdf
    2) Pick up the room number contained in the hyperlink
    3) Prepend the correct forwarding page information in front
    of the room number
    4) Get CF to then navigate to that page (in the same window)
I do not want to hard code the full URL into the pdf
hyperlink as the system may move servers etc in the future.
    Hope this makes sense!

I think the problem might be that PDF's are opened locally
from the client so there is no context to resolve a relative URL.
    Suggestion:
Dedicate a domain name to the location of your .cfm page and
hard code that URL into the PDF hyperlinks. If the system changes
servers, just remap the domain in the DNS to point to the new
    location.
    Hope that helps.

  • .pdf hyperlinks in word open in Internet Explorer instead of Firefox

I have website addresses copied and pasted into a word document, which automatically makes them a hyperlink. Normal website addresses open fine in firefox (which is my default browser) when I Ctrl+click on them. Web links to a .pdf, however, open Internet Explorer and then open in Adobe Acrobat inside Internet Explorer. How can I get .pdf links to open in Firefox when I Ctrl+click on them?

I have the same problem (roughly) - I have PDF hyperlinks in an Excel spreadsheet and, when clicked, instead of them opening directly in Acrobat (or via Firefox, my default browser), they open via IE. Regular HTML links in the Excel spreadsheet open in Firefox.
I have enabled the '''Block PDF files' access to all web sites''' option under ''Trust Manager'' category in the Adobe Reader ''Preferences'' tab.
I have also disabled the '''Adobe PDF Link Helper''' Extension in the ''Manage Add-ons'' tab in IE.
Obviously, neither of these settings made any difference.

  • Preserving PDF hyperlinks

Haven't found the answer for this -- how do I preserve hyperlinks in a PDF when I import it into InDesign and then create my .folio file for DPS?
I work for a magazine and many of our files come in as PDFs, and sometimes they have myriad URLs in them that are not hyperlinks. I'd rather convert URLs in those PDFs to hyperlinks in Acrobat (using a script and/or the "Create Links from URLs" command) than tediously convert them to hyperlinks in InDesign by drawing boxes on top of each individual URL in the PDF, or adding buttons, etc.
It doesn't seem logical to me that DPS would completely ignore hyperlinks in a placed PDF in InDesign, but recognize them in a PDF generated by InDesign.
Any/all help appreciated -- thank you....

    Howdy Bob!
Any news on Adobe development in this direction? It would facilitate my life 103%...

  • Problem with PDF hyperlinks

    Hello,
I am having a very weird problem with exporting PDF from InDesign (CS3).
Ok, so I create, with InDesign, different pages with hyperlinks (text and graphics) and I export them as a PDFs, making sure the "Include hyperlinks" is checked.
Now the hyperlinks in those PDFs work very well.
My problem comes when I import those PDFs in a new InDesign file and then export again a new PDF (again with the "Include hyperlinks" checked). The hyperlinks of the imported PDFs doesn't work.
Does anyone know about a solution?
    Thank you,
    Kina

PDFs imported into ID are treated as images. The hyperlinks are not visible in an image. If the hyperlink is a full URL, then it may still be active in Acrobat when viewed because of abilities in Acrobat and Reader but it is user choice and may not work for everyone. See here

  • Saving Word-11 docs as PDFs, Hyperlinks don't work

I have a MAC Book Pro running OSX 10.7.3.  I am running Microsoft Word (for compatibility reasons for clients) and need to save documents as PDFs so I can place them on a web site with the hyperlinks active.  When I save as PDF all of the hyperlinks appear blue with the line underneath them but the links do not work.
Does anyone know why this does not work on the MAC.  The same process works fine on a PC with the Windows version of Word.
    Thank you,
    Dave

It has to be a setting in Word. Not sure which one.
But then Office for PC and Office for Mac are slightly different. MS may not include this feature in the Mac version.
You could always get Adobe Acrobat and then you would have the real PDF creator.

  • Microsoft Access report to pdf-hyperlinks don't work

    Hi,
Does anyone have a solution to hyperlinks not working when a Microsoft Access report is converted to a pdf?  The hyperlinks work when I am in the Access report, but once I convert to a pdf (Acrobat 9), the links don' t work.
    Thanks,
    Jamie

How did you convert? In looking at the PDF Maker options for AA8 in ACCESS 2007, there does not seem to be a link button in the preferences. That may the issue and I do not have a solution for that.

  • How to create an interactive pdf, hyperlinking text to a video on a usb drive?

Creating an interactive pdf in InDesign CS6, hyperlinking text to a video.  Both pdf and video placed on a usb thumbdrive.  When clicking link on Mac a warning box came up, but after clicking Allow the video played fine.  On PC the warning box also came up but clicking Allow did nothing

You'll need to use startDrag and stopDrag  in order to be able to move an object (the slider handle).  You will need to specify a rectangle that has 0 height for the drag limits.  The width of that rectangle will define the maximum value of the scroll (which will be the maximum value of your scale.
Assuming you will have a linear scale for values along the drag line, the math is fairly easy to manage.  The x property of the handle at the minimum slider position should be 0.  You use the ratio of the current x position of the slider handle to the full width to determine what value to assign ( ex: ratio = handle.x / rectangleWidth).  So if the minimum value is 1K and the maximum value in 10K, you essentially have 9K represented by the length of the line, so the value provided by the slider position at any point along that line would be 1K + (ratio * 9K)
You can use a MOUSE_MOVE event listener that you assign when the slider's MOUSE_DOWN event occurs to update the textfield as the slider is moved.  You can remove the MOUSE_MOVE listener when the slider's MOUSE_UP event occurs.
So, in summary, you need to look into the startDrag and stopDrag methods, which will be inititiated using MOUSE_DOWN and MOUSE_UP events, respectively.  The MOUSE_DOWN event will create a MOUSE_MOVE listener that you will use to have a function continually update the textfield value displayed, while the MOUSE_UP event will have that MOUSE_MOVE listener removed.  The ratio of the x property of the slider to the total slideable distance will be used to determine the current value that the MOUSE_MOVE event handler assigns to the textfield display.

  • Help with PDF hyperlinks

    Hi all.
So I been working on this project for school, I am making a database and after the user enters a specific entry a PDF will open up in Adobe Reader.
Now that PDF file has hyperlinks that open other PDF files. Now here is where I have my problem.
When I click the hyperlink, a new browser window shows up and shows me the pdf file but for some reason parts of it appear blank. Now if I were to open that same exact file on Adobe Reader I can see it just fine.
The browser that opens up is Mozilla Firefox btw. Any reason on why certain parts will be blank when it open ups in firefox but look perfectly fine if I were to open it on Adobe Reader?
Also this is separate but is there a way to make it so that when you click the hyperlink, the pdf file is opened in a new Adobe Reader window?
    Thanks in advance.

Most likely because Firefox has its own PDF viewer plugin which is quite buggy, and is unfortunately used by default.
You can set up Adobe Reader as the viewer by following these instructions: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • InDesign interactive pdf hyperlink problem

Hi, I've set up an InDesign document to have Hyperlinks to other pages which is fine and separate pdf's where the problem lies. They're all in one folder, all a certain shortish length, not overly high in memory, numbering around 35 so far, will work fine for a while then want to connect to the internet with the Windows Internet Explorer warning box saying: Cannot find xxxx%5xxxx%20xxx%20... Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
I'm working from the company server on a PC in InDesign CS6 CC, exporting as an interactive pdf including hyperlinks. Any ideas please?
    Thank you, Emma

Thanks Sumit but the Hyperlink list does not have %20 in, only when you hover over or get warning.

  • PDF Hyperlink not working-why?

I use a variety of hyperlinks within my topics - internally
within the topic, externally to remote topics, externally to other
media such as Excel, Word, etc. My problem is with PDF's.
My coworker can link no problem, and if I work on one of his
topics, I also see the pdf. If I create the pdf, however, on my pc
and embed it as a remote hyperlink, when clickin on the link in the
chm, I get the good ole "Page Not Found" error in the topic pane.
He and I both have XP and both use Office 2003. In our Word, we use
the PDF Toolbar to compile our Word Docs into pdfs.
WEIRD THING: I created several topics awhile back in Office
2000 and those pdfs continue to work!!!! Everytime I try to update
however, even those old topics, the new pdf won't open. If I
restore it to the old pdf, it works again. I assume by this there
is something weird on my pc with my MS Office - any ideas?
What kind of setting can we compare? Neither my supervisor
nor VP has any idea why this happens - Thanks!

    Hi Lisa and all
Well, I do have one thought that may work. Seems the goal
here is to use MOTW and still be able to make links work. I'm
thinking that one could create a redirect topic that would do the
linking. The trick with this would be to keep the redirect page out
of the main topic files. After all, the topic files are all
recipients of MOTW. So how to create a HTML page that doesn't end
    up receiving MOTW?
Use RoboHelp to create the redirect page. A redirect page is
created by inserting the following META tag:
    <meta HTTP-EQUIV=refresh CONTENT="0;URL=FileName.PDF">
Just replace FileName.PDF with the actual file name you wish
    to use.
Now you should have a topic in RoboHelp that will perform a
redirect. The trick here is to make RoboHelp unaware of it. So this
is one of the few times I'll actually suggest stepping behind
RoboHelp's back and making a change. Right-click the redirect topic
and look at the topic properties. Click the File tab. See that
button labeled "Open Folder"? Click the button. Rename the topic
file name and close Windows Explorer.
Back in RoboHelp, you should see that RoboHelp now has a
fancy red X on the topic, indicating it cannot find it. This is
good and what you want! Just delete the topic from RoboHelp. You
aren't really deleting the topic. Only the errant reference. Now
right-click the baggage files folder and import the redirect topic
as a baggage file. If the topic exists as a baggage file and not a
normal topic, it shouldn't receive the standard MOTW stamp.
Give that a go and see if it works. Hopefully it will!
    Cheers... Rick

  • Can't get pdf hyperlink in DW CS4 to work...

    Hello all,
I created a page on which I wanted a clickable link to download a pdf. I went to Insert>Hyperlink, selected my text and pointed the window to the pdf file. When I upload it, I can see the text with the usual blue underline, but I cannot click on it. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? You can see the page at www.stepbystepcare.org/newagency.html

You have spans covering spans, covering spans, but some how have too many closing spans. Quick fix:
    Change:
    <span class="Welcome"><span class="Welcome">Welcome to Step by Step Care, Inc.</span></span></span>
    to:
<span class="Welcome">Welcome to Step by Step Care, Inc.</span>
    Change:
    <span class="GeneralText"><span class="GeneralText">
    to:
    <span class="GeneralText">
    Change:
Our agency's service delivery is endorsed by:<br />
      </span><br />
    </span></p>
    to:
Our agency's service delivery is endorsed by:<br />
      <br />
    </span></p>
Then upload again and enter your URL here and start working on fixing other errors:
