.pdf icons saved as 'plain text' style on desktop

Hello Forum,
As suject, with the new Acrobat 8 Pro, my saved pdf files (pdf icons on desktop) are showing as 'plain text' view style. How do i make them back to the classic .pdf style.

No, i can open them indeed, it's not a file association issue. They (icons) aren't really in 'plain text' view, it's a sort of way how they are displaying (looks like you can choose the way of displaying or something like that). By the way, I noticed that if i refresh my desktop (by pressing F5 key), these pdf icons are back to their 'classic' view but just for a miliseconds, before they turn to the strange behavior that i mentioned above. Could it be my display's refreshing rate or something like this?

On Adobe Premiere Essentials 13 video editing, if I use Quick is it possible to set a default style for titles and text? I see instructions for setting a default style in Expert, but that doesn't seem to work in Quick. Thanks.

What is this Premiere Elements Essentials 13? I know the program only as Adobe Premiere Elements 13 for Windows or Adobe Premiere Elements 13 for Mac. On what computer operating system is it running and is it a pre-installed program from the computer manufacturer?

In Adobe Premiere Elements 13 Windows (assumed Mac also), there should be no problem in creating a text title in the Quick workspace and saving a particular text style and setting that created text style to the default. Are you OK with doing that in the Expert workspace if not the Quick workspace?

Hi,
You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

Save pdf file as plain text using VBA

I am looking to save a pdf file as plain text through VBA, however I am getting the error "Security Settings Prevent access to this property or method". I had this code working in a trial version of acrobat 9.0, but I now have a licensed version through my company of Acrobat 7.0 Standard and it is not working, even after I cahnge the object reference. Please help!

PDF-form looses text style on another computer

I created a PDF-form with text fields using our corporate font. My colleague has to open it in the Preview and insert text into those fields (she has corporate font installed). But while opening and typing the text, she got my text style lost (corporate font and probably its size). What should I do for she types in my forn and get the same text style as I have? Thank you.

Do NOT use Apple Preview to open PDF forms. It corrupts them in various ways and is very buggy.
Stick with Adobe software for best results.

Simple text Editor App.. Saving Plain Text

I am trying to write my first text application in cocoa... I have got a working app from an Apple tutorial, however when saving, it uses the following:

Which saves the content as not plain text. Is there anyway I can change the above to save as plain text ?

Perhaps something like this will work for you:
NSString *s = [textView string];
NSData *data = [NSData dataWithBytes: [s UTF8String] length: [s length]];

Text of pdf, but no pdf icon appears in email

I have received an email on my iPad with a pdf attachment. When I open the email, the whole text of the pdf appears in the body of the email, but there is no attachment icon anywhere to allow me to open the pdf and print it or send it to iBooks. Is there some way to get that pdf icon to show up?

This is because it is only a single paged document. Press down in the middle of it for a prompt box to open and take it from there!

How to remove a saved text style

I saved a Text Style using the option "Save All Basics+Style Sttributes" but now I want to overwrite it. As far as I can see it is impossible, I have to save the new version with another name, but the old one remains on the styles list. So I went on Final Cut App pack content, and I found all the text styles, but only the default ones. There isn't the one I saved. Is there anyone who knows where I can find it so to remove it?

Saving plain text on a mac (Keyboard shortcuts file)

Hi there perhaps some mac users can help me...
I am manually editing the keyboard shortcuts file in TEXT edit on a mac (Im a pc user). I open the file as plain text all the rich text stuff turned off.
(Looked up how to do this.)
I edit one of the shortcuts, no unusual characters etc.
When I restart CC, it gives an error and shows squiggley characters at that line as the problem.
On a pc I just edit and save as plain text and there are no issues...
What am I doing wrong on a mac in Text edit ?

The issue you are encountering might be related to how TextEdit handles line endings? Not sure, but have you tried using the KeyedUp script to edit shortcuts? I used it for CC and it seems to be working fine.

Bug in Mail: Plain-Text | Rich-Text-Mails

just found a bug in Mail (Mac OS X 10.6.2):
I am using a faxservice-provider, which sends my PDF-files to the transmitted fax-number.
This stopped working a few weeks ago, the recipients of my faxe just get blank pages.
I talked to the provider and they told me, that I was sending "Multi-Part-HTML"-mails, so their fax-software just sends the first part of the mail (some blank lines) and not the attached PDF-file.
So I checked a few thing and found the following bug:
Mail is set up to send mails only as "plain-text"-mails.
But if i send an email via the print-dialog ("send PDF per Mail") Mail creates a Rich-Text-mail. This also happens when using the "send PDF via Mail button" in Adobe Reader.
The created Mail is NOT a plain-text-mail!
Saving a PDF-file to the desktop and dragging the file to the Mail-Icon in the dock creates a "Plain-Text-File".
So you need to check the format of the Mail in the "Format-Menu". If you change the format at this place to "Plain-Text" everything is working fine.
Something in this Automator-workflow-script is working wrong. This workflow just has the order to create a new Mail with the PDF as attachment, so I can't change anything their. But the error must be founded in this script/workflow.

Rejection Applicant: How to add plain text to the mail E Mail Letter?

Dear All:
I'm working with a ECC6 version.
In transaction PB60, when we do the candidate rejection activity, the E Mail letter generates a mail with empty body text, and an attachment with the letter in PDF format. The letter is OK, but I would like to know how to add some plain text to this E Mail letter. An empty mail is not a good practise.
I searched across the forums and SAP documentation, but I could not find any clue.
I would appreciate any help regarding to this matter.

Personnel Management->Applicant Activities->Mail Connection ->Create standard texts for mail connection
Create standard texts for mail connection
In this step you can create the standard texts to be used in mails.
Example
u2022     Request for return of applicant file
u2022     Notification of date of job interview
Requirements
u2022     You should have assigned a standard text to the activity.
u2022     You should also have set the variables which are to be used.
u2022     Finally, you should also have made the settings for supplying the variable with values.
Standard settings
The standard system contains two examples of standard texts. You can use these examples as references to help you create your own standard texts. The standard texts have the following names:
u2022     MAIL-APPLICANT (note on an applicant activity)
u2022     MAIL-APP-INTERVIEW (note on appointment for interview)
Please note that the standard texts are stored under text ID PAML.
Activities
Now create the standard texts you require under text ID PAML.
Further notes
Every mail is made up of a heading and contents. In the first line of the standard text you enter the heading of the mail and from the second line on, the contents.
The standard default settings for style and layout are used for mails.
The SAP System treats standard texts as application data. This is why there is no automatic connection to the transport system. If you want to copy texts from one client to another within the same system, please use the functions of the transaction to create the texts. If you want to send the texts to a different system, please enter the transport manually as follows:

PDF Desktop Icons - Content Icon Vs. Standard PDF Icon

Hi...
I tried getting an answer to this in the READER forum, but to no avail, so someone suggested I try here...
On my desktop, for any PDF file, currently all icons are the standard Adobe/PDF style. From time to time, and I don't know what causes this, but these icons change and show as the first page of content in a little image. This is how I would like them to be all the time, but they always revert back to the standard Adobe / PDF icons. I don't know what changes these or how I can go about making this change permanent.
Anybody have insight to this? All replies would be greatly appreciated! It's not anything major, but it's bugging the hell out of me.

a) Yes, I know the desktop resides in the Docs and Settings folder.
b) I haven't a clue as to what this question means, other than I know what a JPEG image is.
c) There are no differences in my various PDF files - most are downloads, others are saved copies, still others are converted to PDF via PrimoPDF Free - makes no difference - currently, all PDF icons on my desktop look like this:
Funny thing, though...when I went to upload the above image, and the image upload set up a browse for the image file, I saw IN THAT VIEW the PDF icons as CONTENT icons, the way I would like all to be shown on my desktop as well - so you are onto something...

Attaching ONLY a PDF icon, not the open file to a mail message.

I recall that I once found a Menu item for limiting the attachment of a PDF to its icon only and NOT the opened file. I can't find it now. Any idea welcome.

I had it and now it is gone. Don't know exactly when but recently (OSX 10.8.5). Perhaps I am not the only one with this experience. It seemed to work for all attachments too ala MS Exchange. Changing to plain text did not help me.
Does the recipient get it the same way it is sent - not having tested? Yes I'm lazy.
Is there a way to set attachment as icon by default without a third party tool?

How to conver HTML text to plain text?

If I am lucky, I hope to get some real good answers. Basically, I have an HTML file saved on my hard drive, and I want to convert that HTML file to a plain text file.
I tried implementing something myself. My algorithm was to simply match "<" and ">" and get rid of anything in between. It's working fine, but it's not fully cooked. It doesn't get rid of some weird characters like &XXXX, which is supposed to be some sort of a code for HTML. Also, it doesn't remove JavaScript codes or anything that's not contained in <BODY>...</BODY>. I sure can improve my program, but I am also hoping to see a faster and more efficient way to deal with that.
I browsed thru some old topics, but nothing was satisfactory. Someone suggested the use of JEditorPane:

But the problem with that is how a JEditorPane object should be instantiated. I could do something like this JEditorPane pane = new JeditorPane (URL url) or JEditorPane pane = new JeditorPane (String url). Either way, the program takes time to download the HTML page from the corresponding url. If one tries to detect �int len�, one can see that �int len� is likely to be zero, because the HTML page cannot be fully loaded in time. I guess I could try to deal with that problem by creating threads and stuffs. But I hope that there are some better solutions to end this misery once and for all.
