PDF in a webpage

I'm working on a website that is subscription based. We are either linking or embedding the pdf's in an php page because we want the pdfs to be printable by the subscribers, but we don't want them to be able to copy the pdf. On the other hand we are also using google search on the site and while we want all searchers (not just subscribers) to find the pdf text, when they click on it, we want them to go to a 404 page which invites them to subscribe but not access the pdf until they are subscribed. Does anyone have any ideas? Feels like I'm up the creek without a paddle.

If they can read the PDF on their system, they already have a copy and there is nothing you can do about it. The only protection you would have is to use Digital Rights Management for a substantial cost.

Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go > Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

There is no such thing as IE for iOS.
There are alternate browsers for iOS - I use iCab Mobile and Chrome on occasion - check the app store. Most are free or very inexpensive.

Acrobat 9 Pro - Creating a PDF of a webpage in a language such as Hindi or Punjabi

Using the 'Create PDF From Webpage' command of a webpage in languages such as Hindi or Punjabi results mainly in a blank PDF where the text should appear. My system has all the required Fonts already installed in order to render the respective scripts but the resultant PDF file is still blank.
Note, however, the generated PDF does display a title in the target font but some of the characters appear to be misordered. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, George. Thank you again for pointing a new user in the right direction.
It took me a while to get some time to sit down with this again, but I was able to take your information above (specifically that what I wanted to do was create and spawn a page template... I would not have known what terms to use to find the information on my own) and search out the kind of script code and procedure needed to execute the "spawn".
Everything works perfectly and as I needed it to! And it was easy once I figured out what to do.

Problem creating a PDF print from webpage

When printing a pdf using Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5. from a secured webpage (IE 9.0.8...), I get unreadable characters in the printed document. Can anybody help me out here?

It may be that some of the characters can not be embedded in the print (or you were using a wrong setup). Check the PDF properties to see what properties of the fonts exist.

Blank box when opening pdf within a webpage

Often, but not always, but TOO often, when I try to open a pdf document within a webpage, the pdf is shown as blank white and a single blank box pops up. The only option is to hit OK, which doesn't do anything. There's no error code or message. Just a blank box. It was happening with google chrome so I went to internet explorer and it was okay, but now it does it there too. It even happens with my stamps.com account which connects to the internet but I would hardly consider it a browser. I use Windows 7 and Acrobat 9 Pro. Somebody PLEASE help me! I've had this problem for weeks... but it's inconsistent - like one time out of twenty there's not a problem at all. Maybe it's a compatibility issue? Is there some kind of upgrade that will solve the problem? Any input is appreciated!

What version of Acrobat 9?

Acrobat Writer won't create pdf from GenoPro webpage

A teriffic genealogy program is GenoPro. It prints to the web (or to the hard drive) as an actual html web page(s). I can click on any name and go there, click on any name in the pedigree chart and go to that person. I tried creating pdf and chose the entire site. It would get only the main page. So I figured I could click on each name and append. It would not do that. Just said general error.
There is another genealogy program named Gramps. It can also make a web page family tree, also on your hard drive. I tried the same thing, created pdf using entire site. This worked. Every name has a clickable link, every pedigree I can click on any name and go to that name.
I am trying to figure out why GenoPro won't.There is no reason why it should not work. I am mystified.

I will have to change some of my problem. Acrobat Writer does indeed use all of the names in the GenoPro webpage to pdf when I use create from web page. The only problem rather than a page of ancestry I get the following code. And it is the same for each person. The only actually formatted properly page is the initial one with all the names. Any ideas why this is happening?

trying to copy and paste text from a pdf to my iWeb edit page shows up as red lines, only shows up on the website if I highlight it, please help

If it only shows up when you highlight it, then it could be your font or your font color. Try changing both to a different font to see if that helps. If not, copy it into a word processor such as Microsoft Word, Pages, or Text Edit to see if it shows up there. If it does, try copying it again from the processor to your webpage.

Uploading a pdf to a webpage

My computer is unable to load pdf documents onto a webpage. The error message reads 'there was an error uploading your document'. This appears in both firefox and safari. It seems to only occur on my machine; uploading the same files was successful on another mac in the department, and a pc. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

To what page are you trying to upload the document?
Does the error message come from the web page or from your system?
Is it a Flash uploader? If so, do you have the latest version of Flash installed?

Customize toolbar when pdf opens in webpage

I open the pdf use window.open javascript in my webpage. I want to always have the "Rotate Clockwise and Rotate Counterclockwise" icons always appear on the toolbar. Without having to right click and enable them.
Can I pass a parameter to enable this?

From your description, I know you want to open SharePoint 2013 PDF files with default application.
You could re-install your Adobe Reader, and then test this issue. Also, you can have test in another computer with Adobe Reader.

Reduce steps to save PDF 'Print' of webpages

I save images of many webpages for my work. However, I count at least 5 key strokes and/or mouse clicks to complete each PDF 'Print': 1) Print, 2) PDF, 3) Save as PDF, 4) name file and select location, 5) Save.
How may I reduce the number of steps to 'Print' PDFs of websites in Safari?

How to Create a PDF of a Webpage Data Entry Form

When using Adobe Acrobat XI, what conversion settings do I need to create a PDF file of a completed webpage data entry form so that the created PDF file contains the data that was typed into the webpage form? Typically whenever I try to do this, I get a PDF file that is a copy of the webpage form but does not contain any of the information that was entered into the form. If I want to retain the information that I entered into the webpage data entry form, I have to retype it into the PDF file that I created.

I created a pdf of 100+ pages from a webpage. When I print them, a pdf
page appears about 1/2 the size of the paper. According to Help, one
should go to Print and see some was to enlarge the printed material.
I see a picture of a page with 73% below it. There seems no way to
change the 73%

When you select to create PDF from Web Page, the window that requests the URL should have a conversion settings button. Select that button and adjust items accordingly. THere are options for the headers and such (includng the URL) as well as a layout with margins and such. This may not be enough variation to meet your need. In that case, try to print to a PDF from your browser and see if that is acceptable. In this latter case, the layout would defined by your browser, not Acrobat.
