PDF in EPS umwandeln

Guten Tag,
Claudio

  • What determines how a PDF or EPS file is opened??????

Hi I was wondering if anyone can tell, what determines how a PDF or EPS is opened in Photoshop.
If I open a PDF in photoshop, the first thing that pops up is the settings for which you want it to open. i.e., color mode, resolution, you choose what you want and then open.
I always thought that how the file was created determines the initial settings in which photoshop displays in that little dialogue box. (for example, if I open an illustrator eps file that I created in photoshop, it always prompts the correct settings (300dpi, CMYK) I click open and it works great.
But when I open a PDF in photoshop it always displays the color mode as RGB, not cmyk. Which i find odd, because I know there is no RGB color space in the PDF.
Today something weird happend, I created an Ad in Indesign, every image I am certain was 300 dpi, and the rest are vectors. Exported it to PDF with high resolution settings, but when I opened it up in Photoshop, the settins dialogue box promted it as 72dpi, which again I find odd because I know each image is 300, the rest are vectors, and I know the PDF preset to which I exported it creates high res images.
Does anyone know what determines how a PDF or eps file is opened in Photoshop and why photoshop is rendering a PDF in which I am certain is hi res, to a low res?
    Thanks for any help. Kevin

Nothing, really. EPS provides this info openly in its header, but it is not always right, so PS cannot even assume it would be correct to use that info. For PDF it's a different story. PDF is a container format that can contain any number of items in mixed resolutions and colorspaces, hence PS cannot assume anything. Likewise, you can have multiple pages, links, multimedia content, all of which may influence the result upon display or rasterization...

  • Is there a way to export individual page items as PDF or EPS?

I have a long document, all threaded, with a bunch of inline graphics. Many of the inline graphics have callouts and pointer lines. I take the graphics, callouts, and pointers, group them, and then cut and paste the group inline into the text flow. I want to be able to tag the graphic (complete with pointers and callouts) for an XML export. But I cannot tag a grouped object. I remember learning at the PeP conference in May that one way was to build the graphic with callouts in AI, and then place it into ID. But I already have an established workflow, with hundred of grouped inline objects in my ID docs.
So I was wondering if there is a script that will allow me to export individual page page items as PDF or EPS. I know that you can export page items as JPEG, but I don't want rasterized text. Please assist. Thanks.

  • PDF to EPS broken in 8.1.5

I use adobe acrobat to convert images in a PDF to EPS.  The process is normally straightforward:
    1.  open pdf
    2.  extract page
    3.  crop page
    4.  save as .eps
As of version 8.1.5 (and possibly 8.1.4), converting to .eps causes what I think is a bounding box problem.  Specifically, only a portion of the eps image is viewable.  This worked fine before the upgrade.  As far as I can tell, no other system changes have been made.
To illustrate the problem, I have include the cropped pdf file along with the resulting eps.
Please, can someone give me some pointers as to how to troubleshoot/solve this problem?
    Thanks.

    (1) I have been using Adobe Acrobat to convert to .eps for years, and
for many projects.  It has worked reliably and flawlessly every time,
until...recently, when I upgraded Acrobat to 8.1.5 (and then, last
night, to 8.1.6).  At some point, it seems one of those upgrades changed
the behavior of exporting to .eps, because the resulting eps image is
    clipped.
    (2) This morning I did the following:
    1.  crop PDF as desired.
    2.  save to .eps
    3.  use Acrobat Distiller to convert from .eps back to PDF
At the end of step 3, the resulting pdf shows only the cropped image,
    not the full image.
So, even though irfanview shows the whole image when viewing the .eps,
there is something about the format of the .eps that is confusing the
    distiller as well.
I used the .pdf and .eps files supplied in an earlier post to perform
this experiment.  If someone can repeat the experiment, then that can
help to isolate whether the problem is some weird configuration of my
machine that is causing this, or whether it is a problem in the Acrobat
    code.
Or, other suggestions to get at the root of this are welcome.
    Thanks.

  • No Adobe PDF or EPS available in InDesign "Print Booklet?"

I am  running Windows 7 and  have InDesign CS6 and Acrobat X Pro installed. I need to save a multi-page document in booklet form to a PDF to send to a service provider. When I try to use the “Print Booklet” routine there are no presets for Adobe PDF or EPS. A non-Adobe PDF creator that I have installed does show up but it is inadequate for this job. Exporting the document to Adobe PDF works just fine. but that doesn't impose the proper page sequence, Can’t seem to find an answer anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure that the PDF virtual printer is actually installed after Acrobat 9 since it no longer works in Mac after Snow Leopard.
There are scripts that will allow you to do simple two-up impositions that don't use creep, and an inexpensive (used to be free, and might be still) plugin for more complex impositions: Overview | IDImposer
But this printer is really not doing his job if he wants you to d the imposition, and I'd be very suspicious of his ability to output your file correctly. Do you have other options?

  • ALT text not appearing in PDF for EPS files

    Hi,
I have a created a document in InDesign CS5.5 which has images and text. the document should be accessibility complaint.
The document has images which are in PSD, tiff, eps and PNG files. I have applied the Alt text for each images.
After I export the document as PDF, when I mouse over the images, the Alt text is appearing for all the image formats except EPS file format. But Acrobat reads the Alt text for the image.
I am wondering why the Acrobat is not showing the ALT text for EPS file formats when i mouse over the image.
Is anyone facing the same problem? should I do anything in the settings?
    please help.
    Regards
    Ramji V K

The EPS image is not created in photoshop. the image is created in Illustrator.
Also, what do you mean by Single image? can you please explain a bit more about that?
    Thanks.

  • Indesign crashes when exporting to pdf with .eps and .ai files placed

    Hi everyone,
I have an Indesign file with 4 placed Illustrator .eps file placed. Whenever I try to export to pdf, it starts to export and then when it reaches a page with a .eps file on it, it hovers for a minute and then Indesign crashes. I decided to save these 4 .eps files as .ai files and replace them. Now when I export to pdf, it gets through the export and a pdf file is created but immediately after, Indesign crashes.
Is this a sign of corrupt .eps or .ai files or a corrupt Indesign file? All I know is that if I remove all the image files, then the ID file is fine, ie. it exports and ID doesn't crash.
Is there a way to test either .eps, .ai or Indesign files for corruption, and if they are corrupt is it possible to repair them?
    Appreciate any help offered.

You haven't said which version of Indesign you are using or other specs, but I would bet that you are using CS2 on an Intel Mac. CS2 runs under Rosetta on an Intel Mac, and I have found that memory problems are often the result of crashes like the ones you have described. My advice is to stay away from EPS files and use AI or PSD, especially if the file is a bitmap or photo. This has eliminated all the crashes that used to occur on my system. As far as the crashes after making PDF files, I don't have a solution other than restarting Indesign after exporting a PDF file or two at a time. The same Rosetta memory problem seems to mess it up for me. Mine would just exit from Indesign with no warning. Hope this helps.

  • Pdf to eps issue on Illustrator

I'm creating a pdf with Apache FOP in Linux then I need to convert the pdf it into an eps.
I'm trying lot of ways, the only one that seems works is the pdftops. But, when I convert it into Linux in command line
    pdftops file.pdf -eps file.eps
This command creates me the eps but when I try to open it in Adobe Illustrator in Windows XP It returns me the error
    EAAFD+HelveticaNeueLTStd-MdCnO_99-Identify-H;
Font not found on the system; missing font has been substituted.
1: the fonts han not been substituted2: the eps do not show words inside it is all blank instead of the images
I'm sure that in Windows XP I have all the fonts becouse if I convert the pdf to an eps inside the Adobe Illustrator all works fine and Adobe Illustrator do not show me the fonts issue.
I need to convert the eps via command line in Linux.
And then send it to someone that will open it in Adobe Illustrator.
(I need to do this for lot of reason that I do not want to list here.)
    Can you help me?
    What I'm doing wrong?

  • Can I flatten/expand stroke to outlines on Export to PDF or EPS?

I have 300 page document that I need to use to send to a sign makers to have 300 different vinyl cut signs made. I've used a heavy stroked line in my document but when exported as EPS or PDF the stroke has not been outlined, meaning the path for the vinyl cutter is in the centre of the stroke, rather than the edge of the stroke.
Does anyone know of a way to outline the stroke in the export options? Or a way of converting the files outside of inDesign?
    Thanks in advance

@Linus – since the sign maker rely on CUTTERS that follow paths, instead of a pixel based workflow, the only way is to convert thick strokes to areas. Do it by a proper transparency flattener preset. Check "Convert Strokes to Outlines". Apply your preset when exporting to PDF v1.3  (in InDesign CS5 and above print to PostScript and distill to PDF).
Of course you have to introduce transparency to all pages. Do so in setting up a rectangle above all page objects (best on master pages), fill it with "[Paper]", give it a opacity of 0 % in the effects palette and you are ready for output.
Check the results in Acrobat Pro with the touchup object tool and Adobe Illustrator (select the touchup object tool in Acrobat Pro, select all, right click and do "Edit Objects…", Illustrator will open the objects. All strokes should have a weight of 0).
Or set up a special preflight profile in Acrobat Pro that will throw an error if a path object has a stroke weight other than 0.

  • InDesign CS5 exports PDFs where EPS elements have low resolution

I am rather new to InDesign CS5. I am currently working on a magazine, where I use graphics in TIFF and EPS. The exported PDF shows graphics in correct quality (300 dpi - TIFF) and graphics with poor resolution -> EPS. How is that even possible? The problem disappears when I use .AI, but it should work with EPS to, shouldn't it?
I figured that it might have something to do with the Transparency Flattener Presets, am I right? My presets are set to "low resolution" and it is not possible to set them to "hight resolution", as InDesign refuses to remember those settings.
    Please help!

Well, I was just trying to figure out why it's happening and thought that it might have something to do with the transparency flattening.
My colleagues, who also work with InDesign (althought with older versions), always use EPS and they never have problems. But your advice is not to use EPS format, am I right?

  • Exporting PDFs to EPS files without masks or invisible paths to release or deal with.

We send files to a CAD department which has issues with masks and paths which can't be seen in Acrobat, nor Illustrator unless in preview mode, and which cause problems when programming.
In other words, is there a function in distiller or acrobat or Illustrator which can provide a file using a plugin or flattener (preset) which gives me a vector file with just the black as seen on screen and no other vectors? Usually the PDF file is vector to begin with.
I've tried opening in Photoshop and get what I need but the file is sooooo big it is not very easy to manage.
We're Mac OS 10.6 based CS4 on the front end with very old cad software at the end. We have to save as AI/EPS 8.
    TIA,
    KC
    [email protected]

    Here is one way,
open the PDF in Illustrator, make a new layer, select the desired path(s) and move them to the new layer (drag the little box from the old layer to the new), delete the old layer(s). Save as .eps

  • PDF to AI - No. PDF to EPS to AI - Yes

Sorry if the topic is a bit confusing but here's what happened / what i did.
Needed to make some minor changes to an ad. Had a HDD failure so lost all working / original files.Anyway, got the print ready PDFof the ad from the publication. Opened it in AI and all the images pointed to links. Not good as the linked images weren't available any longer.
So, exported from Acrobat as an eps file. Then opened in AI. Images there but flattened. No hassle. Text and logos, editable. Great. Changes effected, mission accomplished.
So the question... why wouldn't AI open the images that were in the PDF?

if The creator of the PDF's you have been opening was Illustrator (with default save PDF options settings), Illustrator will always read the Illustrator Private Data while reading such PDF, hence when you have opening such PDF's it ask for missing link.
But if you import any PDF which is not created from illustrator or createed from illustrator with preserve illustrator editing capabilities off , Illustrator will always read the PDF data of such PDF's and will not show any missing link dialog.
please let me know if this helps.
    Thanks

  • File handling like PDF's, eps etc

I deleted Preview, then Color Sync utility tried to open PDF..when I'm in InDesign CS and I want to edit orginal, it should 100% always open in Photoshop.
But, it looks for Preview sometimes (no matter what I do with the litte "Get info/Open With" trick.
I want Tiger to never know Preview existed and most certainly, not to open a low-level viewer.
I remember the old days of setting via the systems settings, not application, what apps to use to open different files.
Is there a similar way in Tiger?

If going the Get Info->Open With route doesn't do the trick, then I suspect that the LaunchServices database is fouled up. See http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/resetlaunchservices.html and
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031215144430486 for details on how to rebuild it.
BTW, IMHO, deleting Apple-supplied apps is bad juju. Updates will probably get hosed when the installer can't find the pieces that are included. You should reinstall it (extract it from the install disk using Pacifist), run the latest COMBO update, and then use the Get Info method to use something else for PDF files.

  • Adding keywords to eps, ai, pdf & jpeg

Hi I'm new to bridge and I'm also new to keywords/tagging so I need little help.
I'm trying to tag files with keywords then upload them to a service called fluxiom (which is like an online portfolio). Fluxiom allows you to search your files by keywords. Now I've added keywords to jpgs and tifs with success but when I try other files like pdfs, ai, eps, etc my keywords are not "sticking" - any ideas? I've also tested it locally by searching my files with Spotlight which is giving me the same results - tif, jpg are okay but not the others.
    help please.

I tried restarting with the option key and reset everything but I'm still not having success. I've attached a pdf that shows the results I'm getting. The tif and the jpeg worked fine, the pdf half worked and the ai and eps (which I saved a variety of ways using different previews) didn't work on any of them.
As I mentioned I'm running CS3 on all these apps in Leopard 10.5.5.
Another related question to help me get a better understanding of Bridge and tagging shouldn't I be able to search on my mac either using the finder (command + F) or spotlight for these embedded keywords? Isn't tagging the files to have the ability to search for them either on the web or on my computer the main reason for tagging. I ask because after I added these keywords/descriptions and searched for the files the only three I found where the tif, jpg & pdf - again confirming the issue I'm having.
sorry if I'm asking a dumb question.
