PDF in Pages convert to ePub

Hi all
I have a problem with Pages (version 4.0.5) and uploading my ebook to Apple's iBookstore.
Apple says that PDF can be used with Pages 4.0.5 and used as an ePub. Doesn't give any example of this.
I have written a 112 page book using the DTP mode of Pages. Output it as a PDF and transferred it to my iPad. Works fine.
Tried to upload it to Apple and I can't select the file as a PDF in iTunes producer. Change the .PDF to .pub and it's icon changes to a . pub doc, I can now select the file but it doesn't upload. The error is: that the file contains more than one resource and lots of xml references.
What's the score with Pages, DTP mode, PDF and ePub? I also tried exporting to PDF but no luck.
I need to use PDF because there are lots of large pictures and the pictures are more important that the text.
Steve

I don't know anything about submitting a pdf to the iBookstore, but you cannot convert one format to another by just changing the filename extension.  Converting pdf to epub is not recommended even if you want to go through the proper procedures for doing that, because the results can be very poor.  Instead you would compose in Pages and then File > Export > ePub.

  • Error in converting from a PDF (first page does not convert)

I want to convert a PDF to an excel worksheet. The file is some 30 pages this month, the first page renders as a picture, the rest of the pages convert correctly! I have tries converting to other formats but end up with either unusable text or the first page as an image, albeit of the first page but not usable.
I think the graphic at the top of the first page is the cause as the conversion process is looking at the whole page now as a graphic and not 'seeing' the text in the table below.
Any help, ideas appreciated as I have spent hours on the Internet and in front of the pc trying to sort this out.
    Thanks
    Philip

  • Redistilling PDF some pages have been converted from cmyk to rgb.

When re-distilling a pdf on certain files, some pages convert to rgb, even though the setting "High Quality Print" in Acrobat is set up leave colours unchanged.
Same problem occurs on Acobat X, 9, 8 versions.
    Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Do you re-print them to Adobe PDF printer using Acrobat or use distiller for this.
In Acrobat once you select Adobe PDF printer click on Advanced option. Click on Color Management. Select -> Same As Source under Color Handling drop down. Having selected "Leave colours unchanged" and Same As Source will not make any change.
I believe it will work for you.

  • When converting multiple word and excel docs to a combined PDF random pages have blue background in the finalized PDF.

I have a user using Acrobat 10. It was installed two weeks ago and initially had no problems. Today she reported that when she tries to convert multiple word and excel docs by selecting them, and right clicking on them to select convert/combine to PDF, random pages in the finished PDF have a blue background. I did some searching online and can find no information about this problem. Can anyone here shed some light on this issue and maybe point me in the direction of a solution? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Gilad,
So, something I didn't consider was that this could be a setting in the office docs. The reason I didn't consider this was be cause we tested multiple docs and had similar results each time. I went back and looked into this possibility and found a setting in word that was causing this issue. Although the word doc showed no page color when opened in word, if I went to "Page Layout" -> "Page Color", a shade of blue was selected. By selecting "No Color", and then converting/combining the docs to PDF we got the desired result. Thanks again for your reply!

  • Do you know how to convert form pdf to pages then to word doc?

Hello Everyone I use pages #Iwork #Mac so basically I have a pdf document with contains equations which I have to transcribe to a word document. But I don't know how to get started for adding these equations.. I will thank you so much http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/163/screenshot20130420at658.png
Please help me I am new with mac
I scanned this document frome of a page of papaer and I have to trascribe to a word document but actually I don't how to do that.

There’s a easy and free way, just go to docs.google.com, click the upload button to upload your pdf file. Remember to check the option "Convert text from PDF or image files to Google Docs documents " before you click the “start upload” button. After the upload is done you can find the converted file on your Google Docs, now copy the texts to an empty word file, done! With this method you can also convert pdf to ppt if you copy the converted tsts to your empty ppt file. Or you can simply use a PDF to word converter, Adobe has a professional software that can do that but I can't think of the name right now.

  • How to keep Korean fonts when converting .pages file to .epub file

Hi, I am also asking about embedding Korean fonts other than English when converting .pages file to .epub file.
I really like to use application for Mac in order to make certain file format for e-books though there seems to be some problem that should be improved.
Please answer to my question and help me to find the best way to make .epub file with Mac.
    37Fides

You should have no problem keeping your text in Korean when you convert to .epub from .pages.  Are  you saying that the Korean is converted to something else?   Please provide more details about what is not working the way you want.
Pages can't embed fonts, you would have to use another app.  But there is no need to embed fonts to create Korean books.

  • IBook converting periods on PDF formatted pages into question marks

Can someone tell me why iBook is converting periods on PDF formatted pages into question marks in the search function?

In case in matters, Apple doesn't accept pdf's for the ibookstore.
You might try different apps for producing the pdf and see if there is any difference.
But only Apple can change how iBooks behaves.  You can tell them about the problem at

  • Black Pages - Convert from Word to PDF

When I convert a Word document to a PDF, the pages on the PDF document are black.  This only happens on select Word document that use a specific cover graphic.  I've sent the same document to a co-worker and they were able to convert the document to PDF with no issues.  I have verified my preferences with my co-worker and these are the same.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader (10).  I was previously able to convert a Word document with the same graphic to PDF without any issues.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • How do I create a Table of Contents in InDesign CS6 for print that easily converts to epub?

How do I create a Table of Contents in InDesign CS6 for a print book that easily converts to epub?
Can anyone point me to a link for a step-by-step (not a video) on setting up all the elements of a print book properly (pages, table of contents and index) so they will convert and reflow perfectly from print to epub in InDesign CS6. This is not about building an ebook from ground up, but taking 50 backlisted print books (converted from old versions of Quark to InDesign) that now need to be converted to epub formats.
OR could someone point me to the link in the Adobe InDesign CS6 support that explains how to create a Table of Contents for a print book (5.5" x 8.5", 288 pages), one that will convert when the file is converted to ePub (for MAC OSX)?
Just downloaded the 706 page inDesign CS6 reference manual from Adobe <http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/indesign_reference.pdf>  but there's not even a search feature on the pdf file.
Up until this week, we have only done print books, creating the TOC the old fashioned way, as a fixed page, comprised of two columns: page numbers and chapters/subject. The files I have created are taken by our printer and printed beautifully.
However, when I convert the same book to epub in CS6, the character and paragraph styles converted beautifully - but everything else is all over the place! The table of contents is on different pages, the columns split apart. That goes for the page contents as well - everything is all over the place. when it's converted to a pdf -- total perfection. Never any problems converting with perfection to pdf format and reading those on the various readers.
(Thank you so much in advance for any help).

<http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/indesign_reference.pdf> Adobe Digital Reader does have a search feature for reading pdfs. Found the TOC instructions on page 176 of 706 pages.
