Pdf into iphoto

I am trying to upload photos into iphoto for a slideshow.  Somebody scanned some photos for me and the files had weird extensions like "marilyn.pdf.pdf".  I can't get them to load into iphoto.
Thanks

Open them in preview (in your applications folder) - you may need to delete the extra ".PDF" - and print using the PDF option and selecting the send PDF to iPhoto command

how do i transfer pdfs into iPhoto on a mac. the pdfs are in my pictures folder but i need them to be in my iphoto

If you have pdfs with multi pages that you want to get into iPhoto here's a way to do so enmass:
Here's how to get any file (pdf) into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the (pdf) file in any application that will open it, in this case Preview.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place them in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of each page of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto.

  • Can you still print a pdf into iPhoto?

Does anyone know where the prompt went?  I used to prepare a document in pages with the intent of making it a JPG.  I would print it and from the print menu choose PDF then Save PDF in iPhoto.  Then I'd be able to use it as a jpg, edit, etc.
Any thoughts?  Can you still take a Pages document and turn it into a jpg in iPhoto?

It seems that that PDF workflow has been removed from Lion.  You can get a copy of it from   Toad's Cellar. There are two versions available, the standard at 200 dpi and one at 300 dpi. I use the latter when I want to use the resulting jpegs in an iPhoto book.
Place the files in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder.

  • Save a pdf to iPhoto option gone for good?

You used to be able to save a pdf file to iphoto when you would print a document and in the left hand corner where there is a pdf option box, you could save your document as a pdf into iphoto, making it a .jpg file automatically.
This feature is not available in OS X Lion anymore that I can tell.
DO NOT BUY OS X LION!  It's a joke.

Like they said thanks rbii, I've never used Automator and never used the slideshow from a Book.  Great
It would be nice to copy out the photos I've used to create the book into an album so one can use them for the full slideshow or into iMovie - I think one use to be able to do that pre-Lion.
But this was great to know - making slideshows can just absorb so much of your life !
    Thanks JJ

  • Cannot import PDF files into iPhoto 4.0.3

Is it possible to import PDF files into iPhoto 4.0.3? I can't drag and drop them into iphoto folders without the "Unreadable Files" error. I have tried importing them through the iPhoto menu and still get the same results. I have tried importing the PDF files from several places such as my desktop because I wondered if the location of the original made a difference, but that doesn't seem to help. I didn't find anything when I searched for this problem here in the forum so I wondered if anyone else is having the same problems.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Morgan

No because I had iPhoto 4 open and tried to run the Save PDF to iPhoto on a book in that library. I think it's just the different data structure, etc.. It's just not compatible with Automator or at least that particular workflow. I tried printing to PDF from V4 and then do the Save to iPhoto from Preview with V4 open and I still get the error message. So iPhoto 4 is just not compatible with that workflow.
A workaround is to create a PDF file of the whole book and then manually save each page as a jpg file and import those. That's what I did for my first book. You could do a screen shot of each page in the preview mode and use those but the resolution will be limited to screen resolution, 72dip. You will get resolutions on the order of 150-200 dpi thru the Save As route in Preview or the Save to iPhoto automator method.
I'm sure you could create an Automator workflow that would take the PDF file and save each page as a jpg file and name it sequentially. I'll have to take a closer look at Automator soon.

  • Can't import .pdf file into iphoto

I think the problem is that I had taped pics onto 8.5x11 paper and at copy shop they scanned into a .pdf file which has 8 pages of pics. What I want to do is find a way to drag pics off of a page into iphoto to email to family.
Maybe this is impossible? I don't have a scanner, is why I went to copy shop.
I can view the pages in PREVIEW and in ADOBE reader, and try to highlight pic and copy into iphoto, but it only shows a part of top of image.
I also tried in Adobe Reader the menus: Tools/Select and zoom/snapshot and it shows "copied to clipboard" but when try to go into iphoto to paste, the PASTE word is greyed out; same if try to paste to desktop. Any ideas how to get photo's off .pdf file? TKS ahead for help!

In preview go to print and click PDF and select send PDF to iPhoto . In iPhoto duplicate the resulting image and crop to a photo and repeat as needed

  • How do i upload pdf's into iphoto?, how do i upload pdf's into iphoto?

I have photos in pdf not jpg and I am having problems importing into iphoto .... Please help!

pdf isn’t a photo format and iPhoto doesn't support that. So use Preview to convert them to tiff or jpeg or some other app to comvert them to another photo format.

  • Inserting PDF files into iPhoto

I am trying to insert separator pages for my slideshow using the article in MacWorld. All is fine til I get to the point where I need to insert the pdf into my slideshow. Below is the error I receive:
    Unreadable files: 1
The following file could not be imported. (This file is in an unrecognized format.)
Here is what I have done so far in regs to troubleshooting.
Removed my iPhoto library from my shared directory to my original Pictures directory & did the batchmod that someone recommended elsewhere to make sure all my iPhoto files/dir have the correct permissions/owners.
Deleted all references to adobe reader on my mac & reinstalled the latest & greatest (7.0.8)
Recreated the pdf files (from the pics) after I reinstalled reader 7.0.8.
Ran disk utils to make sure permissions were correct on my system.
Where else do I look to see what the file formats are besides Get Info? Dh says I should resintall iPhoto, but the updates take forever even with a dsl (but then it could have something to do with my 1500 pics too
Something is missing between Adobe & iPhoto or even OS X but I can not seem to figure it out.
    I am currently running OS X 10.3.9 (Panther), iLife 6-iPhoto version 6.0.5 (316)
Thanks in advance for any & all help.

Thanks, OT for getting back on this. I was hoping you'd respond I've been reading all the posts you've had on this subject & knew you were a resident expert.
I had seen before that the pdf's could not be imported but I was hoping that iLife 6 now took care of that problem & according to the below linked article it appeared to.
    http://www.macworld.com/2006/12/secrets/jandigitalphoto/index.php
Is the article incorrect that this version of iLife does not support it as the article seems to imply?
In regs to your suggestion, I had already done exactly as you suggested sometime yesterday & the quality of the jpeg that was done as a 'save as' from preview was horrible.
I am now in the midst of using iDVD to make my slide show. Unfortunately, the process is slower than iPhoto & I'm not remembering what I've already edited, sorted, etc etc since I've been working on this for at least 2 days now & am now doing it a 2nd time.
I've read your posts about you saying you only use iDVD for SS & thought I'd try it. I am having a problem about the refresh rate on our video & the speed with which it is working on our mac but I don't know if that is due to the number of photos on iDVD, the fact that I am still on OS X 10.3.9 & iLife 6 is supposed to work better on Tiger, my learning curve since I've never used it or what.
Anyways, I'll be up bright & early tomorrow working on it hoping I can get it complete & shipped out to famiy members late afternoon or evening.
    Take care & thanks,

  • Importing PDF files into iPhoto

I seem to remember being able to import pdf files into iPhoto; now I am unable to.
When I click on the pdf option in Print, "Save PDF to iPhoto" is one of the options given. If I click it, and try to save pdfs to iPhoto, I get a dialog box asking me to choose which album to import to. Whichever one I choose, I get an Applescript error, "file/private/temp/etc.etc.jpg was not found (-43)" .
If I create a pdf and drag it to iPhoto, I get an "Unreadable files" dialog box telling me "The following file could to be imported. (The file is in an unrecognized format.)"
And if I try to import via File––>Import, the pdfs are all greyed out.
    Any suggestions?
Would upgrading the OS to 10.4.5 or the iPhoto to 6.1 help? I'm temporarily abroad, and don't want to screw up the laptop if I can avoid it.

    luba:
That's been a bug with the Automator workflow ever since it's been introduced. Be sure to post that fact at the iPhoto feedback page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
I wanted to create a slideshow of a book that I created but had to open each page of the book and do a Save As, picking the jpg format, to be able to do what I wanted.

You can make the collages easily if you have iWork.  Just open a letter sized page in landscape mode and drag the photos onto the page, rotate and postiion as necessary.  Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto to get a 200 dpi jpeg version of the Pages page into iPhoto.  From there you can add it to your book and use a blank page with the option to have an image as the backbround.
If you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers you can create the collage with it.

  • How do I save a pages document as a pdf to iPhoto?

I recently purcahsed a new imac and have upgraded to Mountain Lion.  Under my old system: Leopard, in Pages 07, I was able to complete a document and then save it as a .pdf to iphoto.  When I upgraded to Lion, I lost this capability.  It was my understanding with the upgraded system (Mountian Lion and Pages 09) that I would once again have this feature but I don't see that option now.  Does anyone know how I can get a Pages document saved into iphoto?
    Thanks in advance:)

Pages does not export to .png. You can export as a PDF then open the PDF in Preview & export as .png. A better way would be to select the content you want & copy then switch to Preview & go File > New from Clipboard & save that as a .png. You'll get a better result with the second method.

  • How do I save a photo as pdf to iPhoto?

I know this seems like a very basic question but with the new Yosemite update it has disappeared as an option and totally disrupts my workflow.  Typically I make a document in pages then save as a jpeg in IPhoto... I can then use that in Adobe photoshop elements. .. Doing a screen shot tend to ruin the resolution. I have read in other threads about transferring the PDF preferences library from a prior OS but that is not an option for me.  My iMac is running on OS X Yosemite and is the latest iMac out there. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Here's how to get any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
