PDF, iPad, and iBooks question

I seem to be able to import any PDF into itunes, but only certain ones will let me drag them onto my iPad for iBooks.  What are the restrictions that let me copy some but not others?

I can't answer your question directly but you might wish to try the (free) Adobe Reader app.  It's never given me any trouble.

Can I download an iBook to my older iPad and then download the same book to my older iPad Touch without paying for the second download? If so, how?

If your ipad/ipod are compatible with ibooks, then you can sync it to any of your idevices that you like.

  • IPad and iBooks will not display pdf text in form fields.

I use pdf forms to create assignments for my students and would like to use the iPad to mark the assignments afterwards. I would use something like iAnnotate to add comments and text freehand but apparently the Apple's PDF rendering engine can not handle complex PDFs. Any thoughts?

I haven't installed it, but I seem to remember hearing that the adobe pdf reader app allows for people to enter forms. If that doesn't work, there should be other pdf reader apps that allow for forms to be utilized.

  • PDF Output and Index question

I know its a little unorthodox - but due to some security and
search-spider constraints for a project I'm on, we need to post PDF
documentation to our website rather than HTML Help or WebHelp.
My question is this - is there a way when generating a PDF
from RoboHelp, to have the index that was created in the project be
converted to a PDF page(s) with links in it that when clicked will
take the user to the location in the PDF where the word they
clicked on in the index appears.
Basically, I'm looking for the index in the PDF to function
much the same as it would in HTML Help or WebHelp.

The reason for needing the PDF is a bit convoluted, but I
will try to explain it to the best of my ability.
First, the content which the client is trying to post is
actually not a "Help" system, but actually more of a document, a 50
    page guide to be exact.
As for security, CHM files are out of the question as using
them would require changes to our servers which our Information
    Security team refuses.
As for the WebHelp format, as the document itself is part of
a larger website, all of its content need to accessible to
search-engine spiders. Since Web Help utilizes frames, and frames
are a roadblock for spiders, the only way around this would be a
decent amount of additional development to make each section of
content within the Web Help directly accessible through some
indexed page of links - which isn't practical for us with this
    document.
Therefore we chose PDF, as it is indexible and the contents
can be read by spiders. The reason the client would like to use
RoboHelp to generate the PDF is in order to take advantage of the
    Content Managment features it provides.

  • HT5557 why can't I sync my epub books to my ipad and ibooks

I have several epub books on my pc. when I try to sync them onto my ipad it says syncing but they never show up in ibooks on the ipad

The exact same thing has been happening to me. I've searched all over the Internet for an answer to the problem but nothings  listed. The problem started when I got my new Iphone 5 and started to sync it on my computer  from then on everything just went down hill. Every time I add epub files to itunes and then try to sync it to my ibooks library the files don't show up. I'm using the same method that I always used but nothing seems to work. Sometimes when I try to add a new epub file to my ibooks, ibooks would delete some of my other books. Then it's al whole new struggle to get my old files and the new ones back on ibooks. I really don't know what to do anymore..!!

  • IPad and Quickbooks question

Hi, how can I view Quickbooks 2007 data on an iPad2?  Currently, I am running Quickbooks 2007 on an older Powerbook 1G (2005) with 10.4.11.  I have purchased a new MacBook Pro with 10.7; however, have not yet bought the new Quickbooks program, so will need to take my Quickbooks data from the older system.  What apps are available for the iPad2, and secondly, how will I get the info from the older Powerbook to the iPad (as I can not sync directly the older Powerbook with the iPad)?  Thanks for any help!

If it were me, I would charge them up fully, perform a backup, then power them off completely for storage.  I can't see any benefit to leave them in a less charged state as lithium ion batterys don't have a "memory" like an old ni-cad battery would.
If left on, the battery would probably slowly discharge over time...but a month isn't that long.  I wouldn't leave them plugged in for fear of fire or possible exposure to power surges.

    B@rt,
Try the procedures listed in: MobileMe: Troubleshooting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch sync issues.
If that is not helpful, follow the Express Lane link at the bottom of the linked page.

  • How do I move an iBook from my iPad to my Macbook Pro?  I have iBook on the Mac and the iPad, and Kindle for Mac.

How do I move an iBook I bought with my iPad II from the iBook store to my Macbook Pro so I can read it on the MacBook Pro?

As long as you are using the same Apple ID for both iPad and iBooks on your Mac, you do not need to transfer the book to your Mac.  It should already be in your iBooks library.

  • I just downloaded a lot of PDF textbooks to my ibooks, and now it crashes within seconds of opening the app. I have tried restoring the iPad and just updated the iBooks to 3.1. Any ideas? I have the new iPad.

What a waste of space to paste the code.
Why not ask in the iLife > iPhoto forum where your question belongs.

  • Since downloading the iOS on my iPad, I cannot download more than one pdf from mail to iBooks.  I have to shut down y iPad and start again.  Any suggestions?

Since downloading iOS on my new iPad, I cannot downlaod more than one pdf from mail into iBooks.  I have to shut down my iPad and restart it to save a second pdf. Wasn't a problem with the old operating system.  Any suggestions?

It seems that I have solved my issue by performing a full factory reset (erasing all content, something which I had hoped to avoid) restoring from an iCloud backup did not alleviate the issue, I had to set up as a new iPad.
Hopefully anyone else else who has this issue in the future will be able to find this.

  • I have an iPad 2 and will be buying iPad mini this weekend. my question is: i have books on ibook that i want on my new iPad and some that i don't want... how can i download only the books i want?

I have an ipad 2 that has about 300 books on the Ibook app. This weekend i'm buying a mini Ipad, now my questions is this: I don't want all of the books on Ibook on my new Ipad. Can I just download the books that I want on Ibook? How do I do that? Can anybody help me please?

In the settings you can choose to not automatically update content so you can manually manage the books on the mini.

    Hi jybravo70,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.
The following information is located in the print at the bottom of the article.
Apple - iCloud - Family Sharing
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • How do I transfer PDF files from PC to IPAD using Itunes 12.1.2.  Previous versions let me drag file in Itunes to Ipad and files appeared under Ibook but can't get it to work in latest 12.1.2 version.

How do I transfer PDF files from PC (Windows 7) to IPAD using Itunes 12.1.2.  I would like to do files manually rather then auto synch.  Previous versions let me drag file in Itunes to Ipad and files appeared under Ibook and then I could move them to an appropriate collection title.  The interface appears to have changed in the latest ITunes version and I am not sure what the proper procedure is.

King_Penguin - Thanks it worked perfectly.  I had my pdf files copied into ITunes on my PC but when I clicked on a pdf file to copy it I thought the sidebar would appear with my IPAD name and then I would drag it over.  I didn't realize that I needed to click-and start dragging it towards the left-hand side for the sidebar to appear.  It worked like a charm - THANKYOU!!!

  • How do I sync a PDF file between iPhone and iPad in iBooks?

How do I sync a PDF file between iPhone and iPad in iBooks?

If the PDF supports it then you can try opening the PDF in iBooks on your phone and use the 'share' icon (the square with the upward pointing arrow) to email it to yourself (some PDFs a protected and don't support emailing) and use 'open in' in the Mail app on your iPad to copy it to its Mail app.
Or you can connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy it over to your iTunes (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just ibooks) and if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its  iBooks app, and you can then sync it to your iPad.

I have PDF files in iBooks on my iPad and am not able to sync them to my Mac computer.  Please help!

You should be able to copy them over to your Mac's iTunes by connecting the iPad to it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (that should copy PDFs and epubs that are in iBooks, not just actual ibooks) - does that not work ?
