PDF Issue in Preview to iPad

I've seen this issue floating around where I need to disable "Enable PDF Zooming" in some setting. How do I access this if I am just using the content viewer to iPad? I am in the process of creating a SE app with Creative Cloud membership, if this matters.
Thanks,

Bob's correct, there's no setting to disable it in the published Adobe Content Viewer. If you are a professional or enterprise customer you can build your own version of the Adobe Content Viewer and turn it off.

  • PDF issues in Preview

I use pdf's all of the time for looking a primary literature online, and this problem certainly does not occur on every, or even the majority, of pdf's that I view.
When opening some pdf files the scrolling is extremely jerky (especially between pages) and the text takes some time to clear up (it is initially all jagged and blurry after I scroll). This happened on leopard and still happens now after running snow leopard.
Again, it is only some of the pdf files that I view, but it happens consistently to certain files. It is as though the macbook is struggling to load the file and needs a couple extra seconds to scroll (this takes me back to my old windoze days)
Any ideas what is going on here?

Does the character of the slower-loading .pdf items change when or if you
use Adobe Reader instead of Preview? Which one is your primary choice?
Although my main choice and default is Preview for .pdf items, some of the
files I have were made in a version of Reader and for whatever reason,
appear to be encoded or somehow customized in a way Reader will do a
better job of rendering them in the computer. So, for those files, I have
chosen Reader; while leaving the system default set to Preview.
While I did read the question, in reference to Preview, this may be the only option.
Perhaps such an arrangement may work for you, with only the troublesome items.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • PDF Issues with iPhone and iPad mail program.

I can no longer open a PDF from mail on my iPhone or my iPad.  It will not download. I click the down arrow but it will not download to the phone.  All other documents work fine.  Any suggestions?

Seems like this is a bug that apple might know about.

  • Issue saving edited pdf file on preview

    Hi
I opened a 5 page page pdf file on preview and just wanted to save the last page and delet the others.  When I am done, I am not able to save, or save as or cancel. When I click on save as a page for save as came on but disapeared without i could change the folder name and then it frooze.
    Thanks for your help.

First, you need an app capable of reading PDFs but that's not the issue you should be addressing. You cannot upload PDFs to job sites using Safari. Safari allow this ONLY for videos and pictures.
To do what you're asking, others have suggested using an alternative iOS browser called iCab Mobile or iUploader (iTunes links). Both should help you.

  • Repetitive PDF creation issue in PREVIEW (Terminal option to not save?)

i have a real annoying issue in Preview which i generally find to be a model of efficiency. it is for pdf creation and goes like this:
i scan 50 images into Preview in order to create a pdf to send to someone.
i rotate them and make sure they are properly ordered and oriented.
i select them all and go to print pulldown menu item
then i select the pdf button at the bottom lower left (this is redundant and would be really nice to eliminate by providing a PRINT TO PDF pulldown)
anyway, then i create the pdf and i try to CLOSE OUT of Preview.
however - since i don't need the images any more i am not MANUALLY SAVING ALL THESE IMAGES by CLICKING SAVE on each of the 50 images (this is a pain too and would really be nice to fix)
/instead/ what i have to do is to click DELETE on all 50 images in order to simply close out of Preview after having saved my PDF.
is there a better way to do this and if so what is it.
also, why isn't preview smart enough to not act like adobe software and to give me a "Don't Save All" or "Delete All" button instead of giving me carpal tunnel confirming this on each image.
is there a Yes <> No switch in Terminal that will turn this off??

You can open the PDF in Acrobat and save to Acrobat 4 compatibility, either through optimize or preflight. I would also ask the client why they want Acrobat 4 compatibility.

  • Saving a PDF document in Preview.app Corrupts It

If I take any PDF that is searchable (say from Apple's site) open it in Preview.app, and do a "Save as..." the resulting PDF is not searchable. I can properly cut and paste text from the original, but from the saved PDF the text is corrupted. Is this a known issue?

Preview is not really a PDF editor. You can do basic stuff such as add annotations, insert pages, but you cannot add hyperlinks.

  • Image Added to PDF FFile via Preview Adds Large, White Border

::not sure where to stick a 'Preview' discussion::
I've downloaded several books as PDF files to add to my iBooks app on my iPhone, and I'm wanting to give them their respective book covers. I open the PDF file in Preview, drag and drop the image to the top of the list to create the cover, but I get an ugly, white border around the image itself. There is no white border on the image file itself, so I have no idea why this border is being created.
I've noticed smaller image files have a larger border, but the image I'm using is 716x1024. It doesn't matter if I increase the image size to help reduce the white border, it still remains.
    Any advice?

Edited to add - sorry, my description was slightly wrong.
If I open a single .JPG in a new Preview, and save it as a .PDF, the dimensions are fine. The issue only occurs if I try to add .JPG's to existing PDF's.
It also occurs if you use the shell to convert a single JPG image, i.e.
    "/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/./convert" -f /users/me/downloads/cvg06300162.jpg -o /users/me/downloads/cvg06300162.pdf
    - this gives the reduced size image as well.

  • No smoothness in PDF scrolling in preview

    Hello,
I bought a MBP retina 13' mid 2014 (2.6GHz i5) a month ago and i am currently using Yosemite as my OS. I would like to know if there is any issue with the low end retina MBP's or not. Because the PDF reading using Preview is sluggish even in very light pdf files.

  • Single page PDF issues! Please fix!!!

When sending or receiving  a PDF single page file, my iPad changes the format to something other than a PDF. This make it very difficult to do business with non Mac/iOS users. I know that this is not a hardware issue, it is an operating system issue. I need this fixed in order to have a successful experience.

For all intents and purposes you are trying to do more with Acrobat than designed. Pitstop might do the trick as well as other plug-ins. But the obvious method is to import the scans into ID and do your page numbering there. If you want increased capability try the Adobe request/wish form:

  • Output is reduced in size when printing PDF documents with Preview

When I print a PDF file with Preview the printed output seems to be about 20% smaller than actual. If I print the same file with Adobe Reader for Mac the output is normal and not reduced. Other file types do not seem to have the same issue. I don't recall having this problem before I upgraded to Leopard. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
If you have a rummage through Preview's Preferences and look at the scale settings in the 'PDF' tab, do you have it set to respect the 100% scale factor of the PDF? This can sometimes affect the scaling when the PDF was formated for a different paper size from the one you're trying to print it on. If everything there seems to be ok, try comparing the two different expanded print diaogs which you receive in Preview and Adobe Reader, looking at things like scaling and paper-size again.

  • Completed PDF form showing blank on iPad/iPhone

A few months back I asked for some help making some functionality on a PDF form work.  Here is the link to that post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/783271?tstart=0  I used a "read only" button/JavaScript to make the forms based on the help in the above post.  I discovered this weekend that the forms show up blank when viewed on an iPad or iPhone after they have been filled in and "locked" through the JavaScript button.  I did some quick Internet searches and found that completed Acrobat/Adobe forms have known issues displaying on the Apple iOS.  So based on this information, am I correct in my assumptions?  (I know my completed forms are not viewing correctly.)  Also, is there any fix for this issue?  Is there a workaround?  Am I just making my forms incorrectly?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I was going to just let it go and forget the iOS problem but I decided I would post here and see if anyone has some advice.
    Thanks

The problem is indeed the PDF viewer used in the iPhone does not support PDF forms. It is not related to how you created the form.
You can approach the problem in tow ways. Either use a PDF viewer on the iPhone/iPad that does support forms, or flattent the form before distributing it. The former approach may not be feasible, and the latter approach cannot work unless the person preparing the document has at least Acrobat Standard. Reader cannot flatten a form.

  • Is Preview on iPad lo-res only?

Just tried out "Preview > Preview" on iPad on a new iPad (iPad 3), and it looks like it's lo-res. Is this because it's just previewing? Thanks!

Are you doing the preview from the Folio Builder panel or from the Overlay Creator/Folio Overlay panel?
If you are in Folio Builder then the preview is what you will get on the device. If it looks low-res you should make sure the folio you are previewing is in PDF format, and if you are specifically going to target the new ipad that the folio size is 2048x1536.

  • Preview on iPad doesn't show

I'm refering to this post from Colin http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS9293e1fb3b977c5c-6373a356134d312f091-8 000.htm
Create a custom Adobe Content Viewer for iPad
I just created a Adobe Viewer app through my DPS Pro account, and have it installed on the iPad (used the iPad 1st generation for testing). http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS9293e1fb3b977c5c-6373a356134d312f091-8 000.html
Phone disk runs, and shows the root connection to the Adobe Viewer:
Now when I open the folio builder and open one inDesign dokument from the folio, the preview doesn't give me any options, there is no "Preview on iPad".
If I go one level higher in the folio panel, where I can choose the different folios, the "Preview on iPad" option is there. If I click it, it prepares the whole folio for the preview.
So my problem is, that I can't preview a single inDesign document from a folio, only the whole issue.
I have the latest folio builder panel 12.1.3 installed, using inDesign CS5.0.

I wouldn't delete the post!  It's how I discovered an answer to a similar problem - thanks for asking first!
