PDF maker, Acrobat 9.0, Excel 2007 - wrong page sizes

When I use PDF maker, or "Create PDF", with my entire excel workbook, the sheet sizes come out randomly, though they are set as 8.5X11.
I notice there have been many reported problems. Are there any current solutions?

Thanks for that, I have checked thwe Word Document and the 'lines' are actually Cells so it would appear that the creator has copied
in these from a spreadsheet, into a Word document and then created the PDF.
The resolution is set to 300DPI in the PDF and the lines appear when unticking the Line Weights, however, this change isn't saved, if you can advise me on how to save the document with the line weights option unticked then that would be brilliant!

PDF maker change format of Excel 2007 document

Hi,
I use the scale option in Excel 2007 to format my document on a 8 1/2 X 14 page. I set the scale 80%.
When I print the document with Adobe printer, the document print to the right size ( 8 1/2 X 14).
When I use PDFMaker, the page size is too large (10 1/2 X 16).
When I set the Excel scale to 100%, PDFmaker print is 8 1/2 X 14.
I have mulitple sheet in a my document with different scale. So if a print all my workbook, the page format is all different.
Is there a way to correct this ?

I don't deal with Excel much,but I would suggest you check the preferences for the PDF Maker in Excel. You may have to select the paper size there for it to work right.

Every time I try to print a pdf my printer now says No paper-Custom Size. It used to work fine and other programs work fine.

I had this problem. The error message said that this document cannot be printed and after clikcking ok, another message said that the page wasn't selected or something like that. I went to Programs and Features in Vista Control Panel and deleted Adobe Reader 9. Then I rebooted and went to adobe.com and installed the 9.1 version. Now, I can print my documents. Thank you. I used to be able to Export from Quark to Acrobat without any problems when I was using Acrobat 7. Just changed to Acrobat 8 and have this problem. My 8.5x11 pages become 33x44 inches when exported to Acrobat 8. 400% increase in size. I don't know why. I tried Printing my Quark file to Adobe PDF and that worked. Thank you for your help.

Wrong page size for my printer

When I try to print an A4 page to my HP CLJ CP3505 in PostScript mode from Acrobat Pro 9.4.2, the page size and preview says Letter, and nothing goes to the printer.
I've checked all possible places and the page size is definitely A4 everywhere in the printer's setting and any place I can think of. Despite that, the print dialog says Letter and I can't find any way to change it.
Printing to this printer driver from any other program works correctly, including Acrobar Reader, and also printing to the same printer in PCL mode (or any other printer) works fine.
I'm prretty sure it worked a couple of weeks ago. Don't know when it started but it may have been after upgrading Reader to Reader X.
I have tried to repair the Acrobat installation to no avail.
Ideas?

You should be able to enter the Printers paper choices through the Properties tab.
If the document is indeed the "Choose paper source by paper size" toggle should suffice.

PDF Maker not shown in excel 2013 ribbon

I have got Windows 7 64-bit. I have excel 2013 installed on it. I have recently installed every version of adobe acrobat reader but when i open excel I cant see the PDF Maker add-in in the ribbon.
I have checked it in COM-Add ins list and it is being marked checked. But its not showing up. I have currently installed version 11 of adobe acrobat XI Pro. But issue remains same.
I have searched on google.com a lot but did not find anything.
Can anyone help?

You have to do the updates to AA XI before the ribbon comes up in OFFICE. OFFICE 2013 came out after AA XI and the updates addressed the fixes.

Acrobat 8 and Excel 2007 - drops elements

If you are having problems creating a PDF, there are two steps you should do FIRST
Go to the appropriate vendor web site and apply all updates to the program you are using (several recent messages have concerned problems with MS Office conversion, with the response that different versions of Office have different BUGS that must be fixed by a download from Microsoft - and MS Office products are not the only ones which may, from time to time, need to be updated to work properly)
Go to the Acrobat update page and apply the updates for your version of Acrobat
IN NUMBER ORDER (updates are not cumulative so, using version 8 as an example, you must apply 8.1.0 before the 8.1.1 update)

I can no longer create a PDF with Save As in Excel 2007

I can no longer complete a full page of my graphs with the "Save As" function in Excell 2007 and have tried various methods to correct my problem from pagination to finally completely recreating the graphs as the original file was created in Excel 2003. What happens is it cuts off the right hand margin of my pages and scews all the graphs so they do no appear as they do in the print preview of Excel. Does anyone have any solutions? Thank you.

Change the printer to the Adobe PDF printer before you start looking at the print margins and such. (I am assuming you are using the Acorbat process with Excel 2007 and not the MS plug in.) Once you have the printer selected, then look at the preview and such. Excel and WORD both reflow documents based on the printer that is attached. It may be that simple.

Die neue Acrobat Version wird unter anderem damit beworben, dass es unter Beibehaltung der Layoutstile möglich sei, ein Pdf in eine Excel-Datei zu konvertieren.
Ich habe mir diese Funktion für einen Kunden zu Nutze machen wollen: Tabellen wurden in InDesign erstellt, diese als pfd-Datei ausgegeben und die pdf-Datei als eine Microsoft-Excel-Arbeitsmappe abgespeichert.
Das Ergebnis ist auch mit viel Wohlwollen leider völlig unbrauchbar und kann ohne weitere Bearbeitung nicht vom Kunden verwendet werden: von "Beibehaltung der Layoutstile" kann absolut keine Rede sein.
Kann es sein, dass diese neue Funktion von Windows optimaler unterstüzt wird, als von Mac OS X?

Na das hat wohl mit der Platform nix zu tun, eher ein Fall von "wo nix ist, kommt nix hin". Hab's zwar nie selber probiert, aber ich denke mal eher, dass das Feature so gemeint ist, das von Excel nach PDF konvertierte Tabellen mit erträglichem Aufwand zurückkonvertiert werden können, weil in der PDF dann die Datenobjekte entsprechend strukturiert angeordnet sind und möglicherweise sogar zusätzliche Daten vorhanden sind. Fällt natürlich bei InDesign-Tabellen alles unter'n Tisch. Oder anders ausgedrückt: Wo keine logische Struktur, da keine Tabelle und da sich ein Layoutprogramm nun mal primär auf's Hübschaussehen konzentriert, egal welche komischen Verschachtelungen von Elementen dazu notwendig sind, sollte man hier keine Wunder erwarten....

How to make restoration of corrupted excel 2007 file?

When I open an excel file the following error message is displayed: “The file may be corrupted, located on a server that is not responding, or read only”.
Since this happened whenever I open any excel file, the above error message is again displayed, I must also mention that I am sure my files are not read-only and the files are stored on my hard disk and I use VM ware and my OS is windows server!
How can I solve this problem?

You may copy the file to another computer with Excel installed, and open it. If the error still exist, then your file is corrupt. Otherwise, there may be some problems with your Excel in the original computer and you need to uninstall/reinstall Excel.
If the file is corrupt, then you can try several methods to recover it:
1. First of all, you can try to repair the file manually in Excel, as follows:
(1) On the File menu, click Open.
(2) In the Open dialog box, select the file you want to open, and click the arrow next to the Open button.
(3) Click Open and Repair, and then choose which method you want to use to recover your workbook.

There may still be some warnings when opening the fixed file in Excel, just let ignore it and Excel will try to open and repair the fixed file. If the file can be opened successfully, then you can just save the contents into another error-free file.
5. If all above methods do not work, then you may try third-party tools such as DataNumen Excel Repair at

Creating a PDF from Word, endnote links jump to wrong page

I have a Word file with a large number of endnotes. In Acrobat 9.5.5 the endnote links jumped to the correct page. In Acrobat XI, which I just upgraded to, all endnotes jump to the wrong page. Somehow when converting the Word to PDF the calculation of what page to jump to is calculated incorrectly. Is this a known problem? I see other discussions on problems with endnotes but they are for different problems. How can I resolve this. I don't want to have to revert to Acrobat 9, but it worked.

Well I tried that. I set the printer driver to Adobe PDF. I then selected all text and hit F9 to refresh all links and saved the file and then went to the Acrobat tab to create the PDF version. Using the application and importing the file to create a PDF causes the same result. I can now see a pattern of what is happening. This has a large number of endnotes, 525. There are probably 30+ endnotes links per page. I noticed that all the endnotes links for the first page that has the links all point to the second page of endnotes in the endnote section (strange that it starts with the second page and not the first), then all the endnote links of the next page point to the third page of endnotes and it continues that way until the end.
Another way to describe this is that the first page of endnote links should point to endnote pages 1 through 4 but they all point to page 2.
I checked and all the links in the Work doc are linking correctly.
I wonder if version XI has been rewritten since version 9 and my case is too extreme for this version and it chokes. I'm trying to rebuild part of the file from scratch and see if the problem goes away since there is a lot of history to this file and it started at least at Word 2007. I'm using Word 2013 now and have converted the format to the 2013 level.
I've sent in a bug report but have not heard anything and talked to customer service over chat but they don't seem to care enough to pass this to development even though it's easily reproducible.

Printing to PDF: prints the wrong page size and orientation

I am trying to print a simple 60 page document composed of 8 x 11 inch pages to a pdf. I want the pdf in spreads, so that 2 8x11 inch pages in portrait orientation will be next to each other as a spread. Each time I try to print, the pdf comes out in the wrong orientation or the wrong size or both. When I export it to a pdf, it is the right orientation and page size, but the file size is way too large. So how do I fix this annoying problem? I have tried adjusting the print setup but it still won't print right. This seems like a simple operation, but indesign has been giving me trouble with this for weeks. I should mention I'm using CC. Thank you.

Go to the AdminUI ( http://<servername>:<port>/adminui ), and to Services, PDF Generator. Pick File Type Settings, and click on the Standard entry. If you pop open the HTML to PDF section, you can edit the size, margins, orientation, headings and footers, site recursion, and pdf initial view settings. Save your settings as a new Filetype (you can make as many as you want), and pass the name the filetype as the second parameter to the call to the htmlToPDF method on the web service client. http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/es/sdkHelp/programmer/javadoc/com/adobe/livecycle/g eneratepdf/client/GeneratePdfServiceClient.html I am unfamiliar with interacting directly with the web services via SOAP, so if you are not using the pre-built GeneratePdfServiceClient supplied by Adobe and this information does not solve your issue you will need to see if anybody else can help. I imagine that there is a similar String parameter where you place the Filetype name defined in the AdminUI. (edit: I should mention, the GeneratePdf service is a part of PDF Generator ES, not Output ES, so you may have better luck in the general Livecycle ES forum)

To place an Excel chart, first convert it to PDF. Then place the PDF file in InDesign.
Copying objects from Excel isn't reliable.

PDF created from Office 2013 with Acrobat X doesn't have correct page size

We have a process of quickly creating PDFs along with combining several Word files to PDF by utilizing the "right click" on a Word file(s) to save as a PDF within Windows. Many times, our page size in Word is 5.5 X 8.5 and it does not save actual page size once PDF is created by using the "right click" and defaults to 8 1/2 X 11. Is there a way to fix this or edit a setting? It works fine from within Word if you "Save as" or "Export" but we need the right click to save as actual page size. Please help. It worked fine in all previous versions of Word/Office. Thanks!

Could you please let me know what version of Acrobat are you using.
Try using 'Create PDF' option under Acrobat ribbon in your word file and check for the same.
Also, please open 'Preferences' for Acrobat PDFMaker and check what 'Conversion Settings' have you selected.
