PDF Maker - Converting Word 2010 headlines to PDF Bookmarks

Hi Guys,
I'm facing some issues within my organization using the Adobe Acrobat PDF Maker for Word 2010.
Since version 10.1.1 it seems that the bookmark creation tool malfunctions .
I'm trying to produce a PDF bookmarks based on word 2010 headlines , when I'm comparing version 10.1.1 output to 10.1.2,10.1.3,10.1.4 and even 11 outputs I can notice a variety of changes although all my settings are identical .
Is there any known issue regarding this problem ?
As for now  - I cannot upgrade any of my users to any version higher than 10.1.1.
Should I report a new bug ?
Any help will be really appreciated .
Thanks !

No I was referring to the post that started this thread:

Sound like appearanced order is changed between the different versions. He saying if you set up Bookmarks in one version it should look the same in all versions. Apparently the organization (Business) he belongs to, each station have different version of Acrobat.
The best answer would be have evenone update or upgrade to the same version.

  • Problem converting word 2010 Document

I am having a problem converting a Word 2010 document using Live
Cycle Designer ES2. I get the following
    error msg:
Word (version XP onwards) could not be found
    Word 2010 is installed.

I have just run into this issue myself.  At first I thought it might be that LiveCycle is not yet fully compatible with Office 2010 but after doing some googling it seems there are plenty of folks out there successfully converting Word 2010 documents to PDF.
As a temporary workaround, you could try a copy of an earlier version of Word should one be available to you.
If I'm able to find a solution to the issue, I'll let you know promptly.

I can't get my Word 2010 document to convert to pdf. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9

  • Trouble converting Word 2010 file into PDF

I have a file that was original composed in Word 2007.  It has a box with dialog on the front page (think a disclaimer on the cover of a brochure).  I use Acrobat 9 Pro.  Converting that file was perfect.  I recently upgraded to Word 2010 and I open, edit and save the document in compatibility mode.  When I print to Adobe (or alternatively convert the file), the disclaimer in the text box doesn't convert properly.  The rest of the document looks fine, but the text in the box is smushed to the far right of the box.  I have no idea what to do.  Another person I sent the file to has no issues converting from Word 2007.  Is there a known issue with Word 2010?  Is there a fix or plug-in?  Thanks all.

Customers using Acrobat 9.0 through 9.2 will see the Acrobat ribbon in Office 2010 applications; however, attempting to use PDFMaker functionality from the Acrobat ribbon can result in unexpected behavior. Customers who update to Acrobat 9.3 or later will not see the Acrobat 9 ribbon in Office 2010 applications.

  • Can I be guaranteed Acrobat XI will convert Word 2010 accurately for print?

Can I be guaranteed that Acrobat XI will convert a Microsoft Word 2010 documents which contain many tables 100% accurately and to a press quality "print ready" pdf without loosing any formatting etc?

One aspect you may have to be careful about is the attached printer when you are editing the DOC file. Depending on a switch in WORD (in some versions of WORD it was turned off, but most have it checked), the formatting depends on the printer attached in the print menu (default system printer unless changed). WORD will reflow the document when you change printers or use PDF Maker if the printer was not the Adobe PDF printer. So ALWAYS edit with the Adobe PDF printer attached if you expect to get reliable results.
This happens with most word processors (they are not layout packages and generally reflow to best print on the attached printer). The dependence on the printer has long been a major issue of DOC forms that end up printing differently than they were designed. (OK, a bit long winded.)

  • Batch create Multiple files in Acrobat X and X1 cannot convert Word 2010 with graphics

I work for an exams board where hundreds of exam papers are produced. Once approved, these exams are converted to PDF and sent to print.  Using the Batch Create Multiple Files option is therefore essential to getting these papers print ready on time.  We have found that using this function to convert multiple Word 2010 files with graphics will not render it properly.  It deconstructs the graphics which loses the integrity of the exam paper.
I have trialled the same group of files on Acrobat X1 with the same result.
Have other Acrobat Pro Users experienced the same problem?  Is there a fix?

I have uploaded the files and shared them.  These are the links

  • Missing images when converting Words 2010 to PDF (Acrobat 9.0)

    Hi,
I tried to convert documents from docx (2010) to pfd, but some images went missing. When I tried to convert using CutePDF, other images were 'discoloured'!!
    Anyone with the same problem?

They are missing.. for example, i have this graphics with a few circles within a circle (different tones of blue). The pdf document only shows the 'outer' circle, whereas the inner circles are gone. Another is that I have a blue/grey graphic against a white background, with a text box with words on top of it. When printed, the text box is 'under' the graphic instead (I can see part of the text box on the white background)

  • Convert word 2010 TOC to pdf without numbering and hyperlink errors

I made an automatic TOC (Table of Contents) for my Manual of procedures using the automatic creation under the Reference tab-create a table of contents. It looks great in word. I made sure the hyperlink is clicked in word as well. When I convert this document to pdf using adobe acrobat XI, the numbering of the TOC just changes to incorrect numbering. And the hyperlinks work only for a few initial pages only. I have 22 pages. Once converted, the TOC shows that I only have 16 pages and the linking is incorrect. How can I convert this and keep the numbering correct and also allow for the hyperlinks in the pdf document? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I bought this product (Adobe XI pro) for the same purpose. After waisting many hours and digging through google and Adobe community, I learned it doesn't work, at least not for Mac. I HATE ADOBE!!!! GIVE MY MONEY BACK!
This is a 15-20 year od bug in Acrobat. That Adobe refuse to fix. In this case they blame MS Office claiming they don't have the "proper hooks" for web Links. But it’s a red herring. The Mac Version of Office has the same exact hooks as the PC version. You can take a Mac version of the word file. Unopened on a PC and Drop on AcrobatPC and the links will appear. This has been proven by MS MVP's and employees. The defect is squarely with Acrobat and acrobat alone.
You can have weblinks as long as they have been created with Office Auto-correct feature both http: 's and mailto: 's.  Go to Print menu > hold down PDF key until context menu apppears. Next choose adobe PDF. Now when first screen appears choose quality of PDF and whether to have Acrobat or reader Open immediately.   Click okay. Next screen  browse to desired save location. And you can alter the name. Click save. Tou links will appear and will be active.
Another way which is easier  for one or two page PDF's:
Save word file in .docx format.
Now Dragthe file from save location and Drop on top of the Acrobat icon in the Dock.
Wait for a few minutes while file is processed (it like using Distiller) You might be able to dring a couple of cups of tea or coffee while waiting.
The the PDF will suddenly appear
    Save immediately.
Now any links created by autocorrect will appear and be active.
Both of these two methods only started working in Acrobat X, and XI so someone finally figured partially how to fix the 15 year old Problem

What do I need to do to make my Word 2010 cross references appear as active links in a PDF generated by Adobe PDFMaker?

I have 13 documents - "Word 10/AAX (all updates installed)", with many cross-references.

  • Converting Embedded fonts in Word 2010

Need help converting Word 2010  doc to pdf. Doc has an embedded font that is not installed on my computer. Tried doc in PDF complete and the font converts to PDF fine, but the quality output is a little blurry in heighest  print quality. Is there a way Acrobat XI Pro can convert so I can get a sharp quality readable document?

I am assuming the font is embedded in the WORD file. I would hope that just printing would include the font unless it is not licensed for embedding (something that MS might likely ignore, but Adobe does not). What version of Acrobat are you working with and what OS? You can check for embedding in the document properties font tab (ctrl-D).

  • Cannot Convert and Combine Word 2010 docs to PDF Binder

Have Acrobat Pro 9.4 Extended.  This worked fine with Word 2007, but I upgraded to Word 2010.  Now, when I add files and press on combine button it opens Word and asks me to save the first file to a pdf in Word, not in Acrobat.  Then, the conversion in Acrobat starts but hangs up until the program stops responding.  The binder that holds the combined and converted word docs to pdf never occurs.  Maybe the settings are wrong.  Or is there an issue with Office 2010?  I did a repair of Acrobat, but it has not helped.  Any help appreciated.

Do you see the same issue with PDF Maker also ? I would recomend to update the Acrobat to the latest version : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-10.html

  • Hyperlinks not converting when creating a pdf from Word 2010 to Adobe Acrobat 11.0.6

First off, let me say that these are not table of contents hyperlinks.  I have created a document in Word 2010 (not a MAC) with hyperlinks to files residing on our company's intranet.  In Word the hyperlinks work great but when I create the pdf, the links do not work.  I have converted using both PDFMaker from Word and Create a pdf from within Acrobat.  Yes, I have all the boxes checked regarding saving links.  The links appear to work partially.  Meaning that when I hover the cursor over the link, the pointy finger appears but when I click I get a pop-up message telling me the file could not be opened.  Also, when I hover over the hyperlink, the address appears.  So, I think it knows there's a link and it tries to open but can't.  When I create the file within Adobe the link works - once.  When I click on the link I get a pop-up window asking me if I want to save my file before closing.  After my response the file closes and the linked file opens.  However, when I go back into the file and try the hyperlink again, I get the pop-up telling me the file cannot be opened.  HELP!  I am at my wits end.  After spending hours yesterday trying to research (I think I read every thread related to hyperlinks but I am not using a Mac, table of contents or Adobe 7 around which it seems all the prior questions revolve) and futily creating and recreating the pdf (as if doing the same thing repeatedly would somehow magically work) I am about to give up.  This is a document that will be published to our intranet for use by employees which cross-references other documents to which they can refer for additional information.  I would prefer to publish a pdf and not a Word document.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for your input Bill. I've checked the preferences and "view large images" is turned on. It's not all of the images which are missing, only certain ones do not transfer over to PDF.

  • Acrobat 11 Standard Office 2010 Pro Convert Word documents to PDF not working

    Adobe community,
I can create PDF's inside Word 2010 using the Acrobat Add-in but right clicking a Word document or dragging a Word document into Adobe Acrobat 11 Standard does not work. I have updated both Acrobat 11 and Office 2010 with the latest updates available. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi markl16215442,
In order to convert word document to PDF by right-clicking or dragging the file, you must have Adobe PDF printer installed.
For Windows, please check that Adobe PDF is set as default printer under "Start > Devices and Printers"
While for MAC, Adobe PDF printer option is no more available and as it was removed with some changes in Apple's policy regarding virtual printers.
So, check with your OS and then let me know.

  • Mangal Fonts and Tunga Fonts in (MS Home and Student 2010) Word 2010 not getting converted into PDF

Why do I get a totally blank PDF file whenever I try to convert any (Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010, Version: 14.0.6029.1000) Word document file containing either Mangal Fonts (Hindi) and Tunga Fonts (Kannada) into a PDF file (by using Adobe Acrobat X Standard - English, Version: 10.1.4, Program File Size: 1790 MB, Complete/Full Version) after formatting and reinstalling all the necessary software / softwares (Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3 and Windows XP Service Pack 3, Version: 20080414-031525, Program File Size: 9.08 MB)?

Any Word 2010 document file that has been converted into any PDF File unfortunately does not show either the Mangal (Hindi) Fonts or the Tunga (Kannada) Fonts.
The PDF file will unfortunately become/remain totally/fully/completely blank.
When I convert an Excel Workbook having the Tunga Fonts (Kannada) to/into a PDF File, some of the Tunga fonts in the PDF file are legible and some are unfortunately illegible (get superimposed / overwritten on each other).
Perhaps I may get the same result if I try to convert an Excel Workbook having the Mangal Fonts (Hindi) to/into a PDF File with some Mangal fonts being/becoming legible and the rest being/becoming illegible (getting superimposed / overwritten on each other).

My chronological sequence of steps to create a Word 2010 Document or an Excel 2010 Workbook:
I first create a Word Document File or an Excel Workbook File and save it by giving an appropriate file name.
Then I right click on the closed Word Document File or the Excel Workbook File in the file folder and convert it into a PDF by retaining the same/original file name.
The font list of Microsoft Word 2010 claims/says/states that both Mangal and Tunga are True Type fonts and also that these fonts will/would be used on both printer and screen.
In case if there is any text content in English in the beginning it will get converted into PDF only till/until either a Mangal(Hindi)/Tunga(Kannada) Font starts.
The remaining English text content does not get converted into/to PDF the moment a Mangal(Hindi)/Tunga(Kannada) Font starts. If the entire matter is purely (100 per cent) in English text it will fully / completely / totally get converted into a PDF file without any problem.
