PDF Merge in Publication of Web Intelligence

Is it possible to do PDF merge in Publication of Web Intelligence documents in BO Xi 3.1

Hi,
You can-not merge the two pdfs in publication by default. It might be possible through SDK.
You can look for some 3rd party tool for the same feature.

Wingdings and OCRB fonts in Web Intelligence 4.1 : not possible in pdf

Dear all,
I have a Web Intelligence document containing Wingdings and ORCB fonts.
This is possible in Web Intelligence 4.1 HTML viewer and editor.
However, when you export the Web Intelligence document to pdf, these fonts are changed to Arial :
Does anyone has a solution to display the Wingdings and OCRB fonts in pdf ?
According to SAP KB http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1825538, it should be possible from 4.0 SP8. I'm on BI 4.1 SP02 Patch 2

I fixed it as follows:
1. Modify the fontalias.xml
Location :
Solaris : /(install_dir)/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/solaris_sparcv9/fonts
Windows :
(instal_dir)/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win32_x86/fonts
(instal_dir)/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/fonts
To be added : see attachment : fontalias.txt
This is sufficient for a deployment on Windows
2. In case of Solaris
To be more precise : when the Web Intelligence Processing Server runs on a Solaris box, copy the ttf-files in the directory (see attachment) :
/(install_dir)/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/solaris_sparcv9/crpe/fonts

Problem with the result of multiple queries in Web Intelligence (BO XI R2)

We have a problem with Web Intelligence reports. Behavior of the results is like if we selected the function Count in Designer the properties indicators. Same queries separated one for one report give correct results and together 7 queries in one report give correct results only for the first query and for others (6 others) same results for each date (if report is monthly) or the same result for each hour (if the result is daily) for all Queues tested (other which were not tested have result 0). Even the function Sum inserted into the report structure behaves weird u2013 we have the same result as in the filed (it is a copy of that result, not a sum). We tested queries together in SQL Developer and they give correct results, while in BO big query which contains script from Query 3, Query 2 and Query 1 cannot be completely executed (it executes without end).
We use Business Objects XI R2 SP3.

Hi Peter,
I guess it is the problem due to the merged dimension and different granurality level in the BO queries. From the document properties uncheck the option of auto-merge common dimension objects or manually unmerge all the common dimensions
than give it a try.
I guess this would solve your problem. If not can you provide more query details like what objects you have used in the query.

WIH 00013 time out error while viewing a BO Web intelligence report

Hi,
I have a BO web intelligence report. While viewing the report i get WIH 00013 time out error. I have another report with everything same as this one except for one filter condition. That is working fine but former is giving me an error.
I tried changing the timeout values to 120 minutes from 90 minutes in connection server setting but didn't work.
Also when i run the same report by scheduling it in CMC and format as PDF, then it works fine. This error only comes when i try to view the report directly from infoview.
Please let me know if there is any other way to resolve.

If I change https to http I receive file. Or Business Object server have set ssl in Tomcat but we havenu2019t got set ssl in business object cms server. We want only to have ssl communication on our page but not in fat client Desktop Intelligence.
The same function but not in edit windows work properly.
We got Business Object R3.1 SP2.07

SSL just on Tomcat (Client Browser to Tomcat implementation) should work with no problems with Java Report Panel. No SSL for CORBA communications between BOE servers needed.
There must be some config issue - I think it'll be easier to find out and fix this if you open a support ticket.

BLOB data in Web Intelligence report

Hello,
I am doing research, how to display documents which are
stored in BLOB field in a database.
I would like to create list of the document names with Web Intelligence
report and make a link to document. Link to the document should open the
document, the document can have different MIME types (doc, pdf, jpg,
tiff, ....).
Could you please help me to find right solution for this?

Hello all,
I need help for publishing web intelligence document (universe) into InfoView.
can't find this information in Business Objects Designer's Guide and in Business Objects Administrator Guide.
Can somebody give short instructions how can I do it?

If the change between the 2 types of data has to happen dynamically during run time them
1. Use 2 dataproviders
a. Current
b. Historic
2. Merge the 2 dimensions
3. Use Webi variable to switch between the measure of the current and historic universe
Ex if [year] < 2010 then historic.[expense] else current.[expense]

How to add a barcode font for use in Web Intelligence (WebI) XIR2 and 3x?

Anyone have the steps to add a barcode font to WebI XIR2 and 3x? Not finding a good KBase on it and was also wondering if there any "gotchas" in terms of printing and exporting to .pdf.

Also, if the solution provided in the previous post doesn't helps you then try the following solution.
Following are the steps to apply barcode font (IDAutomationHC39M):
1) In Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:
-- C:\Windows\Fonts
2) On the File menu click Install New Font then browse to the font you want to install.
3) Edit the properties on the fonts you have just added:
In the "Embedding" tab, you should get a property like "Preview & Print embedding allowed".
But, nothing related to a license limitation regarding the embedding, else, you will not be allowed to use the added fonts in PDF or XLS generation.
4) Once the above points have been done:
-- Copy the .ttf fonts you want to use in the following XIR2 folder:
<BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\j2sdk1.4.2_08\jre\lib\fonts
5) Add the following entries into the fontalias.xml file, which is in the following folder:
<BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\fonts
The template looks like the following one:

8) Restart the Businessobjects servers or local computer.
9) Login in to infoview and create a new web intelligence report by using the Java Report Panel or Html Report Panel;
10) In the left pane, select the "Cell Format Properties": you will notice that an entry "IDAutomationHC39M" has been added into the font dropdown list.
Just test the above u2018IDAutomationHC39Mu2019 barcode font, at your end and update me with the results.

How does Merged Dimensions Work in WebI created on SAP BI Queries

I need to know how does Merge dimensions work in WebI when using SAP BI Query as source?
Below is my understanding when connection is defined for the universe on oracle database:
1) To get the data in merged dimensions, there must be physical join (Either Direct or vai some other tables) between different tables at backend level (This means there must be join between tables in Oracle database.)
2) we get the UNION of data when dimensions are merged at webI level.
I dont know how this works in SAP BI.
Since there is different data model defined for different BI Queries in SAP , and for each BI Query and there is seperate Universe, So how can you get correct data in WebI when there is no connections in DSO's used in different BI queries?
Can any one suggest me the way data apperas in merged dimensions for WebI created on SAP BI?

I assume we are only talking about merging dimensions in Web Intelligence here and not on the BW backend. this is a client side mere where you have 2 resultsets.
if you want to do this on the BI server side it would be a multi-provider combining different InfoProviders - or a InfoSet - depending on the join type you need. MultiProvider is a union, Infoset allows you to choose

Web Service consumption in Web Intelligence

Dear Community Members,
does anyone have an idea how-to consume Web Services in Web Intelligence?
The scenario is the following:
The data is stored as XSTRING (ABAP AS) and it is retrieved via ABAP Web Service which translate the XSTRING into STRING.
However, is there a possibility to consum this web service in Web Intelligence resp. is it possible to access the data via SQL as Ingo Hilgefort has it posted on his wiki Page to access SAP via SQL:

Use the WebI rich client (assuming you are using XI 3.x) to build a new report. Activate the Other data sources option and choose there Web services . It will enable you to choose a Web service as data source.
Starting with SP3 this type of provider can be refreshed dynamically when the report is viewed in the InfoVIew.

Personalizing web intelligence with prompts ..

i am trying to schedule a publication of a Web Intelligence Document. This document uses a prompt. I personalized data for 2 users example 'John' and 'Larry' with values 'California' and 'Texas'. The document is saved with parameter value 'California' (not removable). The Option "Refresh at run Time" is set ..
Issue: When runing publication. John becomes personalyzed data for california. LArry bvecomes empty report. Any suggestions ..? Thanx .

Getting data from another query is not an option with the BICS based webi.Also unfortunately there is no good way to have a custom cascading prompt if the hierarchies are not available in Bex. Here is a link to the idea place to have this functionality in a future release https://ideas.sap.com/ct/ct_a_view_idea.bix?c=7732DE74-E9A6-4736-AEE0-6181E5BB5F5E&idea_id=EE6432C0-BC6C-47E6-BB04-C095B3C398B8 However if performance is not an issue and you need this functionality you might also want to look at MDX based OLAP universe using the old UDT tool which is still available with BI 4.0 . That will allow the custom cascading prompt to be created on the universe.

No Input controls in Web Intelligence Ritch Client ?

I have got Web Intelligence Rich Client 12.1.0.882 ( the one from the Trial BO Edge)
I wan't to set Input Controls like Buttons, etc.
According to the Documentation "Building Reports with the Web Intelligence Java Report Panel"
( xi31_sp2_webi_java_en.pdf ) this is possible:
Chapter 19 "Filtering data using input controls"
Input controls defined
Input controls provide a convenient, easily-accessible method for filtering
and analyzing report data. You define input controls using standard windows
controls such as text boxes and radio buttons. You associate these controls
with report elements such as tables or section headers, and use the controls
to filter the data in the report elements. When you select values in the input
control, Web Intelligence filters the values in the associated report elements.
Anybody found the Input Control Tab ?

Thank you for your interest in that feature.
Input controls were delivered from Service Pack 2 of XI 3.1, and are available from all WebI clients, with that release level.
Version number you provide corresponds to XI 3.1, not XI 3.1 SP2, for which About... should display version number 12.2.0.290, reason why you haven't been able to find the feature.
Input control tab is available as an extra tab on the left hand side of Rich Client (by default), tab is simply called 'Input Controls', there are also a specific entry on some Report Element contextual menus (to facilitate input control definition from current selection).

Public login to web intelligence

I have restricted number of CAL and Named user license Business Objects license. I want to put only one web intelligence report to web. So unlimited numbers of user can see and filters the web intelligence report. The login access must be public and anonymous to the system for only that report. Is it possible to do that

gentilmente volevo chiedervi due cosette al riguardo di Business Objects, Web Intelligence.
1. Per una certa tipologia di reportistica ci sarebbe utile unu2019analoga funzione di Web Intelligence quale quella esistente u201CIndietrou201D, però che si comporti in modo opposto, quindi che dia il risultato dellu2019attributo richiesto appartenente alla riga successiva. Ho provato ad esplorare le funzioni esistenti in Web Intelligence ma non ho trovato o forse mi e sfuggita una funzione di questo tipo. Come posso fare per poter avere une risultato del genere?
2. Nella reportistica utilizzando lu2019opzione di creazione delle variabili, come si può fare per unire due dimensioni una delle quali è nativa nellu2019universo e lu2019altra invece è una variabile creata nellu2019universo? (Provando nel menu di u201CUnione dimensioniu201D, non sono riuscita a trovare un modo per potere includere una variabile creata a livello di report, nelle dimensioni candidate ad unu2019eventuale unione).
