Pdf not opening in browser

Just starting yesterday I am unable to open a PDF file with my browser (Chrome) .
It wants me to download the file.  Until yesterday I was able to open any file and just view it with the browser with out downloading it as a file.
What do I need to do to be able to go back to viewing a PDF file with out downloading it?

Hi toddp96226656,
It seems that the PDF Viewer plugin has been disabled on Google Chrome.
Please type " chrome://plugins/  " in the URL of your Google Chrome Browser. You will see a list of plugins there on the page.
Enable the Chrome PDF Viewer plugin.
Restart Google Chrome again & it will be working.
Let me know if you still experience any issue. We  will be happy to help you.
Regards,
Aadesh

  • Chrome on Mac, Reader X, PDFs not opening in browser

    I've found lots of comments on problems with Adobe's Reader in various browsers in Windows.  However, I am thinking of transitioning to Chrome on my Mac, but I can't get Chrome to display PDFs in the browser using Adobe's plugin.  In fact, the plugin does not appear at all in the about:plugin list in Chrome.  I'm searching Chrome forums as well, but thought I'd ask here if anyone had heard of such a thing, and if they had workarounds.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Currently Chrome is not supported in Adobe PDF Plug-In for browsers in Mac. You can view pdfs in Browser window for Safari Browser only in Mac. If you open pdf file in Chrome browser, it will download the file for you to open this through Adobe Reader.
    Thanks,
    Karan

  • PDF not opening in browser Reader 10.0.1

    When you click on a link to a pdf a new browser window opens but its gray were the PDF is suppose to be displayed.

    I'm having the exact same problem.  Hopefully at some point there will be an answer????  Also, Adobe reader is not loaded as an add-in in IE.  How does it get loaded?

  • PDF not opening in browser Mac

    Until FF 36 I had a plugin to open pdf in browser. But I notice the PC version didn't need it. Now the plug in no longer works on the Mac and neither do any others. Every single PDF downloads.
    It appears the Mac users have been left out of whatever changed, because its not an issue on the PC I use at work.
    How do I get this feature back? I really need it. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

    The Adobe Reader plugin may not work properly on Mac and the recommendation in the past was to disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application.
    Note that there are other things that may need attention.
    Your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
    The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
    You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click).
    The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
    You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.

    You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • PDF File not opening in browser for sharepoint 2010

    Recently we have moved our web application from one server to another in Sharepoint 2010. Back up of entire web application was taken and restored in another server. But in the new server , the PDF files in the document library is not getting opened in browser.
    it always open in browser
    I have already made following changes but didn,t work
    Set browser file handling to Permissive from central admin
    Set "open in browser" in setting s of doc library
    Set the doc library file handling property using $docLib = $web.lists["Your Document Library Title"] $docLib.BrowserFileHandling = "Permissive" $docLib.Update()
    Added "AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeType.Add("Application/Pdf") in web app
    Installed Adober eader in client machine
    Even after trying all these, the PDF files are still opening in Client application(Adobe reader) but not in the browser
    It would have been great help if anybody provide a solution for this. I have been banging head on this for two days

    It would be handy if you didn't double post too.

    To answer your question, you've tried most things that I normally see working, but there may be an extra solution here for you.  The solution 2 Powershell that deals with updating the Inline MimeType may help.

  • Blank error message with ? appears and PDF does not open in Browser (IE11) when clicking link to open pdf. PC - IE11 Acrobat 9.0

    Blank error message with ? appears and PDF does not open in Browser (IE11) when clicking link to open pdf. PC - IE11 Acrobat 9.0
    Cannot access in browser PDF files unless blank box is closed and then website address is clicked on again in browser address bar and page reloaded.
    Uninstalled Acrobat 9, reinstalled, still same problem.
    Help please!

    Yes I can it only happens in the browser..
    I reinstalled Windows on my machine and started over a couple of weeks ago.
    When my desktop started up I didn’t have Acrobat installed and clicked on a pdf file and the open with xxx dialogue box came open.
    I chose a different program as Acrobat wasn’t installed yet so it associated pdf files with another program.
    Later Installed Acrobat and couldn’t associate the pdf file with acrobat so I went into Folder Options and manually associated PDF files with Acrobat.
    Ever since then I get the error when something is downloaded and opened in the browser.
    Works fine everywhere else and when I cancel the blank error, highlight the web address and press enter to reload it works 90% of the time.
    Not sure what to do..

  • Disabling JavaScript when pdf is opened in browser

    Is it possible to disable AcroJS when the pdfs are opened in browser?
    The setting  "Enable JavaScript" in Preferences/JavaScript seems to disable JS only for pdfs opened natively.
    Thanks,
    Radu

    OK... I'm still puzzled. There seems to be something else that controls whether Acrobat JavaScript runs or not.
    If I'm loading a pdf stream though a http GET, JavaScript in Acrobat is run even when the setting in Edit->Preferences is disabled.
    <body>
        <iframe height=600 width=400 src = "http://<some servlet that returns a pdf stream>" />
    </body>
    If I'm loading the pdf from a file...
    <body>
        <iframe height=600 width=400 src = "<pdf file path>" />
    </body>
    ... the expected warning (that Adobe javascript is disabled) pops up
    The http response in the first case is something like...
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK

  • Why will PDF not open from email?

    I recently modified my Adobe Reader 9.1 (with instructions from the bank) to be able to electronically sign documents.
    Since then I can not open any PDF documents from email.  I went back and reversed the changes I made. I uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled it. No luck.
    I have to save the documents and open them from Windows Explorer.
    Any Ideas?

    A fast workaround for PDF problem (See my original post)
    In Firefox:
    Open Tools > Options > Under Main tab click Save files to > click Browse
    Scroll up or down to find where you want it to go (I put mine under Documents because it's the easiest to find).
    Click New folder and label it something you will quickly recognize.
    Now when you click on a PDF attachment it will automatically be sent to that file and you can double click or open
    it in Adobe Reader
               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    (Note) If I use Internet Explorer (I have not used IE in years) I can open PDF's from Hotmail with out a problem.
    I like Firefox better so I will continue to use the quick workaround until somebody finds a fix.
    If you use IE, here are the instructions for saving PDF files.
    Click
    to open Windows Mail.
    Open a message that contains an attachment by double-clicking it
    in the message list.
    In the message window, click the File menu,
    and then click Save Attachments.
    Select the folder where you want to save the attachments.
    By default,
    Windows Mail saves attachments in your
    Documents folder. If you want to save the attachments to a different folder,
    click Browse, and then select a folder.
    Select the attachments that you want to save, and then click Save.
  • Firefox will not open in browser but will on iPad
    I have a good signal to the router and iPad works well. The PC will not open any browser (Firefox, explorer internet), and Thunderbird opens but will not connect and times out.
    So I cannot reinstall Firefox or Thunderbird. I can get messages on my iPad but not the PC.
    I have scanned the PC and have no virus or malware.
    Any ideas of what to do next please?
    You weren't very clear about what you are trying to do, but there is no Firefox for iOS devices - iPad and the iPhone.
  • Safari 5.1 -- 'Open at Login' not opening a browser window?
    I have Safari set to open at login (right-click Safari in the Dock > Options > Open at Login). When I reach my desktop, the Safari icon in the Dock bounces and the spotlight lights up as expected, but Safari does not open a browser window -- I have to click the Safari icon or click File > New Window to see a window.
    I've used Open at Login with Firefox and Mail and have never experienced this issue; the application window always opens. I've also tried disabling Safari's extensions and resetting Safari's settings (Safari > Reset Safari) with no luck.
    I know I can probably trick Safari by adding a shortcut to my homepage to the Dock and have that open at login, but I would like to resolve this if I can. Any ideas?
    I found this discussion about three or four months ago. I was having the same problem with Safari not opening, along with my other login items.
    The tip posted by Linc on Oct 3, 2011 9:22 AM, resolved the issue.
    Thanks Linc!
    HOWEVER... Today, all of the sudden... Out of out of the blue... I have the same problem, again!?
    I tried removing, then re-adding, the URL file from the log in items, automatic open list.
    It did not work?
    Does anybody have any ideas/solutions regarding this issue? This is becoming VERY aggravating!
  • PDFs will not open in Browser with Adobe Reader 9
    I am using Vista Ultimate x64 (SP1) using IE7. I am using the 32-bit version of the browser. I have selected "Display PDF in browser" on the Internet settings tab of the Adobe Reader 9.
    Every time I select a PDF document, it forces me to save the document to the hard drive and open it from the hard drive. It will not open the PDF in the browser. How do I fix this problem??
    The above procedure did work in Windows XP (32-bit), but does not appear to work in Vista (64-bit).
    I have a similar problem using Adobe Reader 9 with Vista 64. I am also using the 32 bit version of IE7. Every time I click on a pdf to open in IE7 the screen remains white without starting Adobe Reader 9 in IE7 browser window.
    Using Adobe Reader independantly works without any problem. Only the IE7 plugin does not seem to work. I reinstalled Adobe Reader 9 but without any effect. Adobe Reader 8 works. How comes?
