Pdf on 5800

I'm planning to buy nokia 5800xp in few days as a ... few doubts
1.  Does adobe pdf files can be practically easily read on this handset. Is it quick moving through pages and images in a pdf file?  Any  experience??   Does the orginal handset  come with this software   or need to download seperate....free?     I heard windows mobile platform is better for pdf than symbian...correct?    Any suggestion on the model which reads pdf well- moderate cost range?
2. Can I use the 8GB memmory as a substitute for seperate pen drive - like to transfer and store different types of files- without removing microdisc. ?

I had the same problem and I culd not find the solution. I think it is a nokia issue, as I read it in several webs

Reading pdf files is very slow on my nokia 5800 mobile phone. I have Adobe Reader LE 2.5 and when i open any pdf file, it runs very slow and the scrolling is very slow in spite of opening pdf files which contain text only and in black color. I have tried also wrap text option and the problem persists. Is there anyway to reduce the quality of the pdf displayed on my mobile?? and What i have to do to make it run smooth and fast to make reading on my mobile possible???
    Thanks in advance

  • Open pdf / doc in 5800 xm

    hi
how can i open in my nokia 5800 xm  files like doc / pdf ?
    thanks

well, you just download the doc/pdf from your phone's browser, or you upload it to the phone by the usb cable, and then you browse to the specific document with the phone's files manager (which it should be under the "settings" menu). when you find the document, just open it, and the quick office app will automatically start. that's all!

Just update the "Download" in your 5800 and then look in the Applications folder and you will see Adobe pdf Reader, download it and install...
    Cheers!

friedbrains - this is the QuickOffice PDF reader, correct?  I installed it a week or two ago, but it's a 14-day trial and mine is about to expire.  A visit to Adobe.com takes me to the QuickOffice site for the acrobat reader so I don't think there's any other choice at the moment, is there?

  • Nokia 5800 - Word-pdf

    Hello,
How is it possible to view a word or pdf file i.e. file.doc and file.pdf
    Thanks

I felt the same when I surfed Ovi.  This is my first nokia phone, so I've got pretty much lost.
I did not use Nokia PC Suite, I downloaded the application directly on my phone.
I believe this is the easiest way.   Once you download the application, your phone will prompt automatically for installation.  Once connecting your phone to any network, you can try it.
If you prefer to downloading it on your PC, then go to the following address.
    http://www.quickoffice.com/download/S60/4.2.368/ProExSAVariant_QO_4.2.368_S6050.sis
Open the link and save it on your computer, and then you can send it to your phone via Bluetooth or USB whatever you like.  Once you open the file from your phone, installation will automatically start.
    Good luck!

  • 5800 XM "Expired Certificate" error message

For people who own a Nokia 5800 XM, the error message of "Expired Certificate" when downloading applications onto the device will be mean you cannot load on new apps, which can be frustrating.
Firstly you should try to update the firmware on your phone by 1 of 3 ways.
Using FOTA (Firmware Over The Air). Another thread of mine will explain this in detail. You can find it here.
Downloading Nokia Software Updater(NSU) and connecting your 5800 to the computer using a data cable.
Taking the handset to a Nokia Care point if you do not want to try the above 2 options.
**NOTE: Always be sure to make a back up of your personal details that are held on the phone as updating firmware will most likely delete any data left on the phone.
If you have used FOTA or NSU to update your firmware, or there is no new update available then doing the following will work and will allow you to install new applications without the expired certificate error message.
With the phone switched on, press the power button key once.
Scroll down to and select "Remove E: Memory Card".
Select Yes to remove the memory card.
Press OK and remove memory card from phone.
Press the Dialler on the main screen.
    Type *#7370#
Enter security code. Default is 12345 unless it has been changed.
The phone will reset, wait for this to complete and power back on.
Select your country and type in the correct time and date.
Wait for the phone to complete its configurations, you may receive "My Nokia" or tutorial messages.
    Power off phone.
    Insert the memory card.
    Power on the phone.
Wait for the phone to install any pre-loaded content from the memory card
Phone is ready to install applications, without "Expired Certificate" error message.
I have done the above myself and downloaded the PDF reader from the "Download" application from within the handset and it installed with no error after these steps.
    I hope this helps.

  • PDF viewer

Why Nokia is losing market share?
The set of free applications is not interesting. The OVI suite is not better than the older app
A free pdf viewer should have been provided for years
Look what could be done with an Android phone
    I have a  5800 X a nice piece of hardware but:
The connection to PC / files transfer / viewers are not on par with the competition, gadgets are not enough...
Sorry but if this does not improve rather quickly I will be another user moving to Android
And by the way Windows is not there yet, the main screen and the icons look flaky

  • 5800 xpressmusic javascript problem

while im accessing some security sites n some pages in the internet ,msg like javascript not enable is coming.so please give the solution regarding this ? Im using nokia 5800 xpress music. Also tell me that can this model support pdf file n please guide how can i open pdf file?

And I also have problem mentioned above (sgouder), so sometimes I can't touch the buttons I want and always the button on the right of the screen in that line is pushed (e.g. number 3 is pushed  when I try to press number 1 when dialing number). Same on the whole screen (error stills same with change of orientation of display). This behaviour in the beginging happened only sometimes, now is very often and occuring especially when I have phone in pocket and unlock it. I have to lock and unlock it for several times until the problem is gone. Sometimes the problem also appears after few touches after unlocking (I can go into writing SMS and there it happened). I also experienced that it can be connected with gyroscope (sometimes only rotation of diaplay and back helps, but not often). Unfortunatelly there is no more warranty on my phone (water accident), but the touchscreen was replaced after this accident for the new one. I hope the error is only in the touch display.

  • Nokia 5800 Annoyances

I've just got the Nokia 5800 and think it's a great phone but there are a few annoyances that I have with it.
    1.  No predictive text on QWERTY keyboard
    2.  The notification light (white button) is inadequate
    3.  If screen is off, it doesn't light up when new messages arrive
    4.  There seems to be no msoffice or pdf compatible viewer/editor
I'm hoping that nokia will rectify some or all of these in future updates.  Does anyone know of any inexpensive ways round these problems?

The only thing I could see to be fixed is the 4th point. There's the MobiSystem Office Suite and QuikOffice Adobe Reader LE Touch. I don't know if QuickOffice do a s60v5 touch version about the QuickOffice Office Suite. You culd buy or "come to the dark side of the force". Just your choose xD

  • Problems with 5800

Last week i bought N 5800 XM and I'm very disappointed. I can't open PDF docs, but this is on second place. The major problem is that when i'm deleting contacts, phone gets restarted, not on every contact, but often (on every 5th in average). I download the latest firmware, but here it comes again... I don't know what to do. Please help me

It says "Not updated" because an NSU update resets the update marker. Had you done a FOTA update meanwhile, the date you did it would show up there.
It looks like you need to reset the phone. In fact that's the first thing you should do when you get it, really, even before updating it.
Back the phone's contacts, calendar events, messages and anything else you want to except the settings. You can do this backup to the memory card (look in the file manager).
If there's any password protection on the memory card, remove that protection.
Once that's done, dial *#7370#. Supply the security code when prompted (the default is 12345 so that's what it'll be unless you've changed it.
The phone will reformat its own memory (but not the memory card) and reboot.
Go back into the file manager and restore the backup you made earlier. Also reinstate the memory card password protection if it was on before.
You'll have to redo your profile/theme/etc. settings, but that's all.

  • Opening PDFs is extremely slow

I am using Acrobat X Pro 10.0.1.434 on a new PC with 12GB memory under WIN7 64 bit.
Displaying any PDF takes extremely long until the first PDF is opened. Opening any additional PDF thereafter is fast as ever (with the first PDF opened). Acrobat seems to have problems with displaying the first page or first file. Sometimes it takes 15-30 seconds even if it is a single page PDF with a single word in it. It is relatively fast displaying the first page, but Acrobat is frozen for that period of 15-30 seconds as it seems to be doing something in the background.
Funny enought: the same Acrobat version works fine on my ACER laptop with 8GB memory and WIN7 64 bit. Very fast, regardless how big the PDF files are.No delay whatsoever.
I have of course reinstalled but nothing changed. I have installed the latest Acrobat Reader that shows the same behaviour. So I uninstalled Acrobat Reader again.
My feeling is that Acrobat might have a problem with the graphics card of my desctop, its a ATI Radeon HD 5800, but driver is up to date? Does anybody have a clue what I can do to solve that issue, change settings?
    Thanks
    Klaus

  • Cisco SG300 with QLOGIC Sanbox 5800 Interoperability

    Hi,
Is cisco smb switch compatible with Qlogic Sanbox?
We are presently implementing new Cisco SG-300 switches over an existing Qlogic Sanbox 5800 Fiber Network.
None of of new SG300 are able to initialise the Fiber ports at both ends (cisco to Sanbox).
However, Cisco to Cisco and Qlogic to Qlogic works seamlessly.
    Prposed topology is here-in
    Please advised.
    Regards,
    Leerish

Hi Leerish, I can't find the Qlogic SFP anywhere searching for 31980-00 B.
I found an optic support Matrix
    http://www.qlogic.com/Resources/Documents/LineCards/Optics_Support_Matrix.pdf
Another way to approach this may be. MGBSX1 is the equivalant of the Cisco Catalyst SFPS GLC-SX-MM. If Qlogic has a matrix for interoperability, you may want to find which of their optics match the GLC-SX-MM and it should work with the MGBSX1.

  • Nokia 5800 and word files

How do I view word, exel and pdf files on the 5800.
    Chris

These are the two that I know of, but they do not work with the 5800 YET!
OfficeSuite5 is available as a free 30-day trial and then you have to buy. Viewing is difficult and editing is not available at all in this version.
QuickOffice free version is great for viewing. Quickoffice Premier 6 will allow you to edit but is NOT compatible with the 5800 (just other S60 devices).
I have not paid or tried to edit with either mentioned product.
