PDF Open Parameters reported as broken links

I use the PDF Open Parameters in order to link to specific
pages/locations in PDF documents:
e.g. <a href="
http://www.site.com/pdffile.pdf#nameddest=signup">pdffile</a>
However these always get reported as broken link within
Dreamweaver (CS3) and as broken anchors when I run other link or
page quality scans against the site.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so is it normal
behaviour? If this is an agreed standard then I would have expected
it to be recognised as a valid link/anchor.

PDF Open Parameters (HAND)

In my application I open pdf in new window using PDF open parameters. In this when PDF document open in new window I want to set hand as default cursor. I have gone through all PDF open parameters but I haven't got any parameters for default cursor.
So can any body tell me is there any pdf open parameter or any way to set hand as default cursor?

PDF Open Parameters Inconsistent

Hi,
I am trying to use the PDF Open Paramaters to provide access to different sections of a PDF using URLs in a browser (as both HTML and XML links). For some reason, once the pdf has been accessed once, it no longer consistently opens to the specified parameters if attempting to access it from different links using different paramaters.
Help?

PDF Open parameters not working on windows

Hi,
I have been trying to use the PDF open parameters but have run into some issues:
1. http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/acrobat/PDFOpenParameters.pdf#search=collab& navpanes=0
The above URL should hide the left navigation pane, but it does not.
2. http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/acrobat/PDFOpenParameters.pdf#search=collab
The above URL shows the search results on the left nav pane, but it says 2 documents found and repeats all the results.
I am using Windows 7 with Adobe Reader 9.3.3 and the issue is present in both Firefox and IE. Both of the links above work as expected on Firefix on Ubuntu Linux with Adobe Reader 9.3.3
Did anybody else run into the same issue or knows what's going on?

FireFox 3.6 and Adobe Reader X. Reader X PDFs opened within the browser contain links, which do not work. Anyone got clues on why the links fail and how to fix?

When we rolled out ReaderX and AcrobatX we uncheck the Diaply PDF in Browser window. OK with IE, but ignored in FireFox (3.6.16). We can live with that except the PDFs have links to other URLs and clicking on them is ignored. Same PDF opened outside the browser the links work fine. FireFox with Reader 9.4.0 no problem. Reader X with IE no problem. I can fix the Display in Browser with a change to firefox.js, but have not figured out how to fix the links when the PDF is displayed within the browser.

1. Are you seeing this problem with all kinds of PDF's or some specific kinds like secure PDF's (with doc open password or printing restrcitions), reader extended PDF's or PDF forms.
This problem is with all kind's of PDF's.
2. Are you opening a locally saved PDF by doing a drag drop in the browser or right click and open with IE/FF or directly opening a PDF hosted on the internet?
It doesn't matter. However I do it, I see this problem in Firefox, IE & Google Chrome.
3. Can you also check the version of the Reader X browser plugin? you could find it at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll. Right click -> Properties -> Details
If version is 9.0.x then you could try a clean install of Reader X.
I have checked it. It's the latest plug-in (though at the moment, I have gone back to Adobe Reader 9.4.1, as I've mentioned before, because I need the reader to be working fine for my work and daily life. I am just waiting for a fix before I try Adobe Reader X again.
As I've mentioned before, I am seeing this issue ONLY on my Windows 7 Ultimate (Laptop). In the desktop's at work, with Windows XP / Vista, I don't see it. Adobe Reader is working fine, browser integration is fine, the floating tool bar works fine, the right click menu pop' up where the right click is done...I can also save PDF' from the main toolbar at the top and so on...
I really have run out of ideas.... and I am very surprised that no expert support personnel (if at all there is one) have dropped by or said anything or mentioned anything about this.

So, I wrote the following code.

In the 2nd line, I specified pag3 as described in 'PDF Open Parameters for Adobe Acrobat 7.0'.
But the Acrobat Reader X always shows the top page.
Could anyone help me?

PDF Open Parameters

Well, with the PDF open parameters I am now able to open a pdf document via HTML on a specific page number.
(http://example.org/doc.pdf#page=10)
However page numbers are changing so I want do define a special Article using the following command:
http://example.org/doc.pdf#nameddest=Article16
but the pdf opens always at the first page. Is there something to do in the pdf document with Article 16 first ?
By the way the Masterfile is in InDesign, if there ist something to do first can I do this already in InDesign befor I create the pdf ?

Sorry for posting it twice but it is very urgend

For the moment I did nothing in the pdf document but I think I have to do something like marking the word "Article 16" or another specific word as a destination for the url command.
(I use the Acrobat 9 Pro version)

How do you perform partial word search using PDF Open Parameters?

We are using the 'search=' open parameter in the URL string, which open a PDF and automatically searches for a word within the PDF. It works great for whole word searches. Unfortunately, it does not work for partial word, or phrases. In other words, if I'm searching on '123456' and there is a word in the document that is '1234567', it will not find the partial word, or first 6 characters of the 7 character word. You can perform a partial or phrased search using the advance search feature of Adobe Reader. So, currently after the PDF opens, and shows no hits on the automatic search for '123456', we are able to manually search again for a partial word search, and then see matches in the document. Is there any way to specify to use a whole or partial word search when using the 'search=' open parameter, so that we can automatically match on partial and whole words? Something like 'search=123456*'?

It never worked that way. Command-F shows the page search bar.

Specifying PDF Open Parameters in Word Import Scenario

I have created a number of URLs in a Word document that open on a specific page no. in PDF files e.g. http://www.adhc.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/file/0008/228194/HomeModificationGuidelines.pdf#p age=4
The parameters function as expected when opened directly in the Word document, however after importing and publishing in RH v9, the parameterised URLs are ignored completely in the Browser (Internet Explorer).
If I add the URL's via RH directly, they are OK, however I've got to keep the source in Word format. Does anyone know if this is a limitation in the context of Word imports to RH or am I missing the point somewhere along the way? I've searched high and low for an answer and praying that there might be a solution or workaround!

Thanks for this Wilana. This behaviour appears to be across the board in IE, FF and Chrome I'm afraid. It also only does this is the PDF is located externally - i.e. outside the project. If the PDF is included as a baggage file, the #page=x parameter works OK.

I try to open a pdf with search as described at page 7. With English language wods work perfect, with greek language words not work.
Any Idea?

PDF Open Parameters: nameddest

Reading: http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/acrobat/PDFOpenParameters.pdf I found following parameter: nameddest=name
(Specifies a named destination in the PDF).
Such named destination seems not to be a bookmark. What is it? How can I add a named destination in my PDFs using Adobe Acrobat so I can open my PDFs later with Adobe Reader pointing directly to it?

Open Parameters not work

I have a javascript file, which allow users to browse a pdf file located at the local hard drive. How to open the pdf file to a bookmarked page?
I have tried to create bookmarks, named destinations and open the file as:
"c:\mypdf.pdf#nameddest=mydest-1"
It opens the file, but it doesn't jump to the bookmarked page.
The same result as:
http://mypage/mypdf.pdf#nameddest=mydest-1
only "AcroRd32.exe /a nameddest=mydest-1 "C:\mypdf.pdf" could works.....
How to link to the destinated page in the javascript file? I am using Acrobat 8.1.3 with Adobe Reader 8.1.4. Thanks a lot!

The broken link error

Please help me with this broken link error in Office Excel 2010. Thank you.
The problem is: a broken link cannot be removed from the file. The link was used in data validation, which refers to a list of values. After the path was corrected, it still shows there’s a broken link. Here are the details:
I have 4 files named “000TVA_Test – 3”, “000TVA_Test – 4”, “000TVA_Test – 5”, and “000TVA_Test – 6”. The posterior files were developed based on the previous files.
In Test-3, sheet “Template “, cell “L4”, “O4”, “R4”… were built as dropdown list using data validation. The list source is in the “Library” worksheet. There’s no problem so far.
Test-4 was firstly copied from Test-3. In this file I renamed the worksheet from “Library” to “Setting” and the link was broken from here. I can also fix the broken link in this file. (While I didn’t realize there was a broken link.)
In Test-5 I fixed the path, but every time when opening the file, the broken link still shows.
In Test-6 I’ve removed the data validations. The broken link is still there.
I tried to find solutions online. I tried common methods, cannot find anything in the files is still using links. I also tried the “findlink.xla” add-in, but it only worked for Test-4, and couldn’t find the link in other files.

Based on my tested the files downloaded, I found that Test-5 & Test-6 included the "A defined name that refers to an external workbook", Test-4 had not. (Please click Formula Tab>Name Manage, you'll see them.)
However, the Break Links command cannot break the following types of links:
A defined name that refers to an external workbook
A ListBox control with an input range that refers to an external workbook.
A DropDown control with an input range that refers to an external workbook.

Thus, we'd better try the workaround： re-build the Test-5 & Test 6.

Link checker does not seem to see some broken links-why?

I have a problem with the link checker, it does not seem to report some broken links. Here is the context in which it happens.
My site root folder contains (subset) :
index.php
Templates/child_userarea.dwt
user-area/downloads.html
(The file downloads.html is based on child_userarea.dwt.)
In the template, I have <a href="../../index.php" title="Home page">Home</a>.
In downloads.html, this link appears as <a href="file:///M|/Website/index.php" title="Home page">Home</a>.
According to this post http://forums.adobe.com/message/934203#934203 by Murray, this is because Dreamweaver (CS4 in my case) thinks that index.php is outside the site root folder. I understand it thinks so because indeed ../../index.php points to the folder parent of the root folder. What I don't get is why doesn't the link checker report that ../../index.php does not exist? (And I'm sure it doesn't, there is no file called index.php outside the root folder.)

That's the thing, it is correct! I have checked many times. Here is what is says:
and M:\Website\CERC15\ does exist.
For the time being, I have corrected the paths in the template, so for that particular file, it is now ok. However, I have no idea whether other paths are wrong since I am not sure any longer whether they are spotted by the link checker. I searched for other instances of file:///M|/Website and there is none left.
I suspect this is just one more problem due to another problem non-identified so far (see e.g.http://forums.adobe.com/thread/506149?tstart=30). Since I renamed a big batch of files, I have had problems after problems: the templates disappearing (see that other post); I also lost all the files in 4 other folders (files for download linked to the pages through <a> tags); and Dreamweaver has become particularly slow (but this seems to have been fixed with erasing the cache and the personal preferences).
I'd like to start from scratch again (and why not reinstall Dreamweaver), but I don't know how to recreate the site from zero without loosing anything (e.g. links to templates).

Download latest full install 7.0.7. Error during installation: "Error - Unable to detect Microsoft Powerpoint", which is odd, since I have PP installed.
