  • Removing PDF options in print dialog box

When I bring up the print dialog box and click on "PDF" to go to the options for saving the document as PDF, how do I remove some of the options from that list? I installed software that put an option in that list, but I don't use the software so I want to remove that PDF option from the list but don't know where to go to remove it.

    ~/Library/PDF Services or /Library/PDF Services

  • Edit the PDF menu in print dialog

    Hi,
The PDF menu in the print dialog is easily expanded. I can add new destinations to it, I can even add shortcuts to applications which will open the created PDF in that application, etc. I can rename those by going to ~/Library/PDF Services and renaming the aliases.
But here is my problem ...
How do I edit the other options in this drop-down menu? They do not appear in aforementioned Library folder.
If I'm going to "Send PDF via Messages", I also want to "Send PDF via Mail".
And I want to "Save PDF to iBooks" instead of adding it.
And I want to disable the saving the PDF to Web Receipts Folder as I won't use that.
Does anybody know how to edit these?
    cheers,
    Rob

    Try this:
    tell application "Microsoft Word"
        activate
    end tell
    tell application "System Events"
        tell application process "Microsoft Word"
click menu item "Print..." of menu "File" of menu bar item "File" of menu bar 1
            delay 1
tell menu button "PDF" of window "Print"
                click
-- add a delay here if necessary
click menu item "Create Booklet" of menu 1
            end tell
        end tell
    end tell

If you just want to view the file as a spread, Open the file in Acrobat and from File>Properties>Initial View (second dropdown) choose Two-Up (CoverPage)

  • Opening a saved printer friendly version of a web page (PDF) opens a print dialog.

On the web I asked to view a printer friendly version of the page which opened a PDF which I saved.  When I attempt to open the saved PDF it automatically brings up the print dialog. If I cancel the print it opens in Adobe Reader.  What can I do to open the file without the print dialog popping up

    Hi Stanley Trela,
If you are on Windows, open up your application preferences, then go to the "Security (Enhanced)" category and deselect "Protected View". If you are on a Mac, unfortunately, the only workaround is to "print as image" - you can select that after clicking on the "Advanced" button on the print dialog.

  • Auto printing a PDF document without Print Dialog, in a web application

    Hello,
We are developing a web application (target browsers: IE and Firefox). One of the requirement is to open a PDF document and print it without any user intervention(no print dialogs). Is there a way to achieve this? Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Prasanth

Yes, if you install a special application folder level script with a trusted function on the end user's client computer. Adobe has made this feature only available under very specific conditions to prevent atomically printing without the end users knowledge of the print action or allowing it by adding a the special folder level file.

  • Why is Save As PDF not in print dialog

  • No pdf option under "Print"

I recently had my PC computer wiped clean of viruses and had to reinstall the software. I reinstalled Photoshop Elements 2.0 but now cannot create a pdf file because the option doesn't come up under "Print," as it did before. Suggestions appreciated.

I would look at using a program that can produce a PDF from a digital image like Irfanview 4.27.

  • What is the corresponding DOM property to control the "Simulate Paper Color" option on Print dialog

I want to simulate the following manual steps in script:
    Manual steps:
    1. File->Print->Color Management
    2. Click "Proof" radio button
    3. Uncheck "Simulate Paper Color"
    Script:
    2. app.documents[0].printPreferences.sourceSpace = SourceSpaces.PROOF_SPACE;
    3. ??? here I can't find the corresponding property or method to uncheck "Simulate Paper Color"

I think I have figure out the corresponding property, it is PrinterPreset.intent
Assigning PrinterPreset.intent to RenderingIntent.absoluteColorimetric equals to checking "Simulate Paper Color", assigning it to RenderingIntent.relativeColorimetric equals to unchecking the box.

  • "Save to Adobe PDF" missing in Mac print dialog

I've just upgraded to a new machine, and the "Save to Adobe PDF" option is missing from the PDF drop-down menu in the print dialogue.  I'm running Mac OS 10.8.3 and CS 6.  I believe that Acrobat X is supposed to automatically install this option into the main print dialog; what can I do to get it installed if it got left out of the initial CS6 installaion?

OK thank you.  I feel like I'm still not quite getting my question across.  I don't think that PDF Maker is what I was using last week before I got a new machine; wasn't that the thing that showed up in the upper portion of the Print dialog, in amongst your physical printers?  That is not what I was using.  I was using the Save to Adobe PDF.app (an Automator app) that stays in the PDF Services folder in the Library.  You access it via the PDF button in the bottom left of the Print dialog.  This was using Acrobat 9 and OS 10.6.
Your description above makes it sound like when I go to that button I would get a contextual menu that lets me choose the quality of the PDF.  I don't have that choice.  This is the contextual menu I get under PDF in the Print dialog:
I used to have an additional entry there in the middle section called Save to Adobe PDF.  That brought up a dialog with a drop down menu that showed all of the preset settings I have made for PDF creation, and I could choose my quality there, choose a location, and save.  I had full control over all the settings.  I just need a choice that brings up that dialog, and Save as PDF doesn't do it (it just uses the native OS PDF generator).
The second method does not work on my machine either.  If I try to drag a Word doc into Acrobat it tells me it is not a supported file type, and says "To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF."  this indicates to me that somewhere I should still have the ability to choose Adobe PDF rather than Mac OS PDF.
I can save to PostScript and drop the file onto Distiller -- as long as the Distiller settings are set correctly already, because it starts creating the PDF immediately with no dialog in between to make choices.  I can live with that, but I would rather have my Automator workflow back to do it in one step.  (sadly I don't know enough about Automator right now to easily do this myself, but maybe this is a good chance to learn.)
I know that I have seen this workflow mentioned as something that is installed along with Acrobat X but maybe people are mistaken about that and it was just left over from a previous install.  I know for sure that the workflow that was working on the old machines was outdated; it was 32-bit and can't even be opened in the current version of Automator.  So the old one clearly won't work any more.  For now I'm going to set up a Distill folder on my desktop with the settings I use most often, and direct my PS files there.
Thanks for the detailed reply even though I can't quite make it all work!

  • Save as PDF from printer dialog requires two tries

When trying to save a file as a PDF from the printer dialog it takes two tries. When the save dialog appears I hit return and it immediately returns with nothing saved. The second time the file is saved normally. According to Adobe this is being caused by Apple PDF Creator; however my selected printer is Adobe PDF 9.0. I have retried resetting the printer using the System Preferences panel with no change. This is really annoying, any suggestions?

Thank you. I would go back to Adobe and reiterate that this doesn't happen when a non-Adobe printer is active. They are probably not setting something up correctly the first time through. Also, unless AdobePDF offers something crucial when creating PDFs, you could switch the printer as a workaround.

  • How to access Print Dialog boxe's "Pages" property

    Hi,
I am using the following line to populate the Print dialog box.
    xfa.host.print(1, "0", (xfa.host.numPages-1).toString(), 0, 1, 0, 0, 0)
Is there any way that I can access Pages option using JavaScript with Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 where I can show the page range to print?
I want to print 3 copies of 1st Page and then the one copy of full PDF. So in the Pages option of Print dialog box I want to display 1,1,1,1-9. Is there any way to accomplish this programmatically?
Or is there any better way to print 3 copies of 1st page and then 1 copy of whole pdf?

    Hello,
Thanks for response. I am not asking about (Print Screen List) properties.
After  (Print Screen List), one more Pop ups screen will come. On that screen one Properties is there. I am asking about that.

  • Printing multiple screen objects (ALV+GFW) with only 1 print dialog pop-up?

    All,
This is related to my previous post at:
Re: How to print multiple ALV Grids with only one print dialog?
but there is still one open question...
My requirement is to create reports that will be called through portals; those reports are a combination of charts and the associated list output describing the data of each chart.
In my first report (4 charts), I created a screen with 8 custom containers: 4 on the left hand side for the charts and 4 to the right for the list output.
To create the charts I am using the Graphical Framework (GFW) and for the ALVs the new CL_SALV* classes.
Everything works fine on the screen, but the users also want to print the report. I got them to the point where they will accept a separate printout (page) for every object (e.g. chart and ALV) of the report.
I put a print button through the GUI status on the screen and trigger the associated print events in the program; this works fine as well, but the problem is that for every output (in this case 8) a print dialog appears and prompts the user for a printer selection. This the users won't accept and - quite frankly - I wouldn't either ;).
Now, in my previous post someone pointed me to the use of the REUSE* function modules to append the ALVs and then print them together; this works and reduces the print dialog to only one for the ALVs.
Even though this is an option, I am still kind of hesitant: why using all the great new OO stuff via the CL_SALV* classes to bring the ALVs on the screen, just to go back to the old approach for the printouts???
Especially since I still can’t figure out how to combine the GFW objects in one print – or even better – how to suppress the dialog by passing the information behind the scenes either.
As of now, I have 2 options:
    - 8 print dialogs (OO only)
    - 5 print dialogs (using the REUSE approach for the ALVs and triggering the chart prints individually)
Does anyone see a way to bring it down to ONE?
    Thanks,
    Guenther

Update: I found the solution for the ALVs!
Even though I am using the
"new-page print on parameters G_S_PRINT_PARAMETERS no dialog" statement, the dialogs still appeared; reason for this was that I also set:
    "L_O_PRINT->SET_PRINT_ONLY( IF_SALV_C_BOOL_SAP=>TRUE )" before I output the ALV table.
After removing this, the ALVs are printing without pop-up!!!
Unfortunately the GFWs still prompt for the printer selection

    Hi,
Mine is also same requirement and i could not even generate multiple print dialogs. Can i have your code to compare with my code please.
I am displaying container information on 200 screen PBO. I have added one custom print button to the grid tool bar(remaing container toolbar print buttons i have disabled). Once i click on custom print button a popup is coming and when i click on continue(one container informtion print is coming) and  it is coming to 100 screen(in this, i am calling selection screen as a subscree) and subsequent print dialog is not coming.
    Thanks & Regards
