Pdf or video

What is the better way to export a slidehow in lightroom 4, pdf or video?

Dave, everything you've stated is incorrect or misleading except for video file support. I'll grant you the Slideshow module is overdue for some useful updates, but at least video files are now supported in LR5.
Jim Hess has provided useful information concerning LR's Slideshow PDF and video output. If your intent is to use the LR Slideshow images in another application then simply choose 'Export JPEG Slideshow' from inside the Slideshow module. The images are properly color managed and exported with sRGB color profile assigned. This allows you to add captions and other information to each image from inside LR using  metadata. I use Cyberlink PowerDirector video software with LR 1080p slideshow JPEG exports, which I burn to a standard 4.7 DVD+R disc in AVCHD format for playback on any Blu-ray player. YES, it does work and a Blu-ray burner and Blu-ray discs are NOT required. You can fit up to 500 images with about 30 minutes of playback time. Who'd want a slideshow longer than that and the images look superb on my 52" HDTV.

  • How to play the pdf embedded video on firefox

    I embed video into pdf quite often, if I want everyone with Acrobat reader version earlier than 9 (6,7,8) can open it, I have to chose "Create legacy multimedia content..." when I embed the video. The problem is, when I make the pdf with Mac, usually I use mp4 video, but a lot of PC's can not open it because they don't have the codec (they have to install it first); but if I embed it with wmv, Mac users can not open it. Also the latest Firefox browser doesn't have the plug-ins for the new pdf, thus can not play the embedded video. Anyone can help? Many thanks...

    Hi Philips,
    Thanks for your input, but that's not the problem. I've got Flip4Mac  already installed, and I have quicktime pro, so no problem for my intel  based Mac running WMV under quicktime.
    The problem is, I can not play the PDF embedded video WITHIN FIREFOX /  SAFARI browser. Just found out that they only have plug-ins for viewing  pdf files, not with embedded video.
    Thanks anyway.
    Adobe has not had a PDFPlugin for Mozilla Products Since OS 9. I have put in a bug about it at least once every year.
    There is a PDF Browser Plugin by Shubert of Germany, that will view PDF's. Now Safari will work with the Acrobat PDFViewer Plugin and any other Browsers using Webkit including iCab. You can set SeaMonkey FireFox, Camino,  to use the Adobe Reader or even Acrobat rather than a plugin.
    It's sad and funny at the same time. Adobe until Acrobat came out was just a Font provider. And Adobe got started with other products on the Mac, because mac users were a little more bold and daring and would try out new technology. Acrobat on PC (Widows/DOS) wasn't accepted for another two years. Then when then got a foot in the door in the Windows world, they all but abandoned the Mac Platform.
    They refuse to fix crash and performance issues on Mac for Flash. One reason why Jobs has took the stance he has about Flash on the iPad/iPhone.
    But they are not the only ones. Intuit (Quicken) got started on Mac first. Then when they got toe hold in PC world they have been shafting Mac Users every since.

  • Still having problem with PDF document video - Text Blurred on Scaling Down

    Need to scale down a captured PDF document video (.mp4). but text become blurry after scale down. Any suggestions to keep the text clear and readable ?

    Those two things are not the same shape. If what I am about to say is too basic, please forgive me. It might help someone else later.
    The ratio of your captured image (1434 x 958) is calculated as:
    1434 / 958 = 1.496868475991649
    The ratio of your export is calculated as:
    640 / 480 = 1.333333333333333
    Just get the representation of them into one document, I created a Photoshop file big enough to hold them both. Then I scaled it down and took a screen shot to fit this forum's restrictions on file size.
    If you look at the first image, it is difficult to see that they are different shapes.
    In order to make them easier to see, I scaled down the larger layer, using the Shift key to ensure that the scale is perfectly proportional.
    Now you can easily tell that the ratio of 1434x958 is much wider than the ratio of 640 X 480.
    That means that you are changing the shape of the image when you export.
    If you are concerned about the long edge, you could divide 640 by 1.496868475991649 and export the image at 640X428 and get closer. It is not optimum, but should look better. Optimum would have been to size your PDF to where the longer edge was evenly divisible by 16. But, too late for that.
    Another choice would be to edit the video in a 640X480 sequence, and scale the PDF video down to fit that sequence - leaving a letterbox look (black bars on top and bottom). That might help the image stay sharp. Then export to 640X480 from there.

  • PDF with video doesn't work in iBooks

    When uploaded to iBooks the video in a PDF is invisible and doesn't play. The video format/codec is fine as the video plays when uploaded to iPad Video. Does iBooks disable video in PDFs, strange if it does as it works in ePubs when they are loaded into iBooks?

    If I remember correctly Adobe Acrobat loads a QuickTime plugin to play videos and to display graphics. iBooks doesn't load any plugins to display graphics and to play videos, HTML 5 doesn't use plugins either.

  • Export to interactive PDF with video

    Hello,
    i tried many times to create a simple white document with just a place of "flv" video in the middle.
    I set up the PDF export to interactive...but when i open the PDF i can't reproduce the video, just see the preview image.
    If i export to SWF it works.
    how can i export the content to a PDF and include the video in the pdf ??
    thank you

    Thank you for quick reply.
    unfortunatly it's not that problem.
    i noticed that the PDF file created is just 27 kb!! the video is like 100 Mbytes...so it seems that i haven't included it in the pdf files.
    when i configure the PDF preset in the "Include" frame i have just one choice:
    Interactive elements: "Include Appearance"
    i see that in the tutorial for export they all have a checkbox with "x Interactive documents" then "Embeed all".
    why i haven't this option? maybe cause of this i can't view and include video in pdf?
    thanks

  • Inserted QT Video does not export to PDF as video...why?

    An inserted QT video becomes a static picture after export to PDF. I know I can handle it and Acrobat Pro by manually inserting the video, but I was hoping Pages export to PDF would be intelligent enough to do this automatically.
    Is there a work around to get this to happen automatically?
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to show interactive pdf with video on an iPad 2 ?

    I have heard that it was not possible to display any interactive pdf file (action field that start a video clip when click or touch) on an iPad 2 ?
    I have an application in which I just want to display my interactive pdf file with action field that start a video clip when click.  It uses a hyperlink in acrobat.  Is it possible to display this on an iPad 2 and allow the user to touch the action field to start a video clip ??   It works in windows (of course).
    I was hoping it was possible using pdf because MS power point doesn't work on any applications in iPad2 that will handle the hyperlinking to a video.
    I appreciate any suggestions on this topic.
    Thank You,
    G

    Adobe Reader does not have this capability. I'm not aware of any other PDF viewers for iOS that do.

  • Creating a pdf with video

    Hi, could anyone please advise which version of acrobat allows you to take video from a digital camcorder and create a pdf from it?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    Perhaps I didn't word the question correctly.
    If I can expand upon my question:
    My customer wishes to include video from a digital camcorder in a pdf document. I understand that the video file needs to be either originally in/or converted to flash format. As there are three versions of Acrobat presently (Standard/Pro/Pro Extended), which of these is capable of converting the video to flash and then embedding into the pdf?
    I have looked on the product information, but can only see any mention of converting video to flash on the Pro Extended page!
    Thanks in advance.

  • .pdf doc videos don't work

    I have a .pdf document with videos but they aren't even showing up let alone playing. Everything is up to date and I'm using a Mac... Suggesions?

    Adding the read permissions to the registry key as noted above fixes the problem when the 'read' permissions for "USERS' is missing.
    In systems I have checked the key has the USERS permission ACE before 10.1.102.64 is installed and missing after the installation.
    On Windows Server 2003 the key inherits 'Authenticated Users' instead of 'Users' which should be true for all systems post-XP.  The inheritance seems to be removed and keys are not copied in correctly.
    I believe, and this should be checked with Microsoft, that the inheritance needs to be restored and the root of CLASSES/MIME.  This is what I have chosen to do as this is the way it is on all working systems.
    The error may be caused by one of the trojans that has attempted to exploit Adobe Flash as this would cause Power Users(this account is missing too) to install a new control.  They could then be redirected to another rogue site where malware could be installed.  All of my systems run as standard users and I only run as admin to do installs and repairs so this exploit would not easily work.
    This is a good warning to not run as a Power User.  As Administrator the exploit won't trigger as the administrator ACE has been copied to the key.
    I believe this may be a good example of an 'Elevation of Privileges' type of exploit.  This is the Find-A-Hole-And-Make-It-Bigger Exploit (FAHAMIBE) Say that three times fast.
    Kidding aside.  I hope this is useful to somebody but may not be the cause of all errors like this one so check very carefully.
    I don't think this is caused by the newest Adobe installer or release.

  • Loading PDF and Video Files in BLOB Column

    Hi,
    Below is my database version
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    The Requirment is
    In a web page ( developed using Java Spring ) end user has the funtionality to upload a pdf/video file by browse the required file from his/her local computer.
    Once the webuser clicks the SAVE button then the selected file needs to be inserted in Oracle BLOB column.
    Front end needs to call an Oracle Package to achive this.
    Please suggest me how to create oracle code(Procedure) for this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Check BFILENAME + DBMS_LOB. Something like:
    DECLARE
        v_file BFILE;
        v_blob BLOB;
        v_size NUMBER;
    BEGIN
        v_file := BFILENAME(<ORACLE DIR OBJECT POINTING TO OS DIR WHERE FILE RESIDES>,<FILE NAME>);
        DBMS_LOB.OPEN (v_file, DBMS_LOB.lob_readonly); --Read the file
        DBMS_LOB.createtemporary(v_blob,TRUE);
        v_size := DBMS_LOB.getlength(v_file);
        DBMS_LOB.loadfromfile(v_blob,v_file,v_size);
    END;

  • PDF and video links

    I just upgraded to RoboHelp 7 so I could fix the active x
    popup issue when running program by selecting Add Mark of the Web
    checkbox. But now my links to pdf files and video don't work inless
    you save first. How can I fix this issue?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kurt
    You could probably work past this by using a program called
    Server2Go.
    Here are the steps you would need to follow:
    Download the Server2Go software from
    http://www.server2go-web.de/download/download.html
    Choose the Micro package
    This should result in receiving a zip file named
    distribute_apache1.3_micro.zip
    Unzip the contents of the zip file to the root of your hard
    drive ( C:\ )
    This should create a folder named distribute_apache1.3_micro
    Open this folder and delete the following files and folders
    inside:
    Files:
    splash.bmp
    logo.ico
    readme.txt
    Folders:
    dlls
    dbdir
    cgi-bin
    Open the htdocs folder and delete all files and folders
    inside.
    Copy all of your WebHelp output files and folders to the
    htdocs folder
    Rename the WebHelp start page to index.htm
    Copy the contents of the distribute_apache1.3_micro folder to
    the CD-ROM and test!
    Cheers... Rick

  • PDF Embedded Video

    Hi,
    I have window desktop application develop in Visual Studio.NET 2010 (C#.NET). The video is saved in *.MP4 or *.AVI format with high definition.
    The desktop application record the Live Web Cam Video, as soon the video is saved in need to export the video or embedded in PDF .
    The Video type ( Media Type)
    1. MP4
    2. AVI
    3. WMI
    Any media type format, but not flash file (.swf)
    Your idea is highly appreciate

    Hi SYEDHANIF,
    Unfortunately there isnt much that can be done. Swf is the only format that you can import into a PDF document.

  • Interactive PDF increases video size

    Hello,
    I recorded some video tutorials on my Mac and scaled them down to 800 x 500 px in Premiere Pro CS5. The videos are looking good.
    After placing them in InDesign CS5 and exporting them as an interactive PDF, settings for original size, the quality of the video is unbearable, because the size increased to 1190 x 716 px at 100 % magnification. I have no idea why that happens.
    Exporting them at 75 % gives a better result, but how do I explain to my students, that 800 px at 100 % are 1190 px at 100 % in Acrobat Pro?
    Any help is highly appreciated!

    I tested your file, and created one of my own with an MP3 file.
    Your complaint is that the Preview panel only requires a single click while in the PDF, activating the button requires a double-click. The Preview panel is Flash-driven using InDesign CS5's Flash run-time implementation. So what it really previews accurately are SWF files. While much of it will also apply to PDF previewing, there are many kinds of interactivity (e.g., multi-state objects or animations) that preview fine but don't work at all in PDF. There are other things like this work "similarly" but not exactly. It's really NOT a PDF previewer though you can use it to some extent.
    I hadn't encountered this problem in CS5 because I hadn't used buttons to activate sounds in Acrobat 9 or Acrobat X. If you create a button to play a video (I used F4V) a single click plays it. For MP3's, a single click seems to "select" the sound, but it requires a double-click to play it. I have no reason why that should be.
    Notice also that you can pause over the sound or video itself, and a tooltip tells you "Click to activate."
