Pdf paper size incorrect

I receive my fax's electronically and when I get a legal size (8.5x14) fax Acrobat Reader 9 detects the paper size as letter size. Needless to say this causes my fax to be shrunk when I print. When I look at the properties of the fax it shows the paper size to be 8.64x13.6. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get it to read correctly? My system is windows xp service pack 3 and I am using Adobe Reader ver. 9.0.0. I am printing to a Kyocera KM-C4035E colour printer, but have tried multiple printers (ie HP, Canon) with the same result. The issue seems to be how Reader detects the paper size of the document.
I can go into the print setup and select legal, but this is a real pain, as I then have to switch back when I want to print a letter size document.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think this may help. I had a different problem, but similar.
There is a setting in the OS X print dialog box (under Copies & Pages) called "Paper Handling". By default it is set to "Scale to fit paper size: Letter" This has taken me weeks to figure out. We were trying to print large format (30" x 42") PDFs and they were alway coming out 8.5 x 11. I hope this helps you out.

  • Distorted PDF paper size with Qt5

    Hi,
after updating qpdfview in AUR to 0.4.5-2, files are displayed with an all-wrong paper size. Here's what should show my timetable in qpdfview. I also installed texmaker-qt5 with similar results, leading me to believe that the problem lies with poppler-qt5 - error messages were not shown anywhere. Qpdfview 0.4.4-2 (which used qt4) displays the files without problems. Can anybody confirm this?
    Thanks in advance

  • Exported PDF paper size

    Hi!
I just finished a book but the paper format turned out to be few millimeters different wider and few millimeters shorter than A4 and printer said it would be best for me to print the book in A4.
Is there a way for me to just choose A4 paper size while exporting a PDF?

When you change the document size, the relationships and shapes of objects on the page may need to change. It's likely that you'll need to change the margins, and when you do that your text may reflow and change the page breaks and pagination.
Best way to see what's going to happen, and how much work you'll need to do after, is to make a copy of the document in ID, then go to Layout > Layout Adjustment... and enable Layout Adjustment. Now go to File > Document Setup and change the page dimensions. Finally, visit each master page you've set up and move any master items that need to be adjusted, and  go back to Layout > Margins and Columns... to adjust margins if you need to.
You can't change the page size during export to PDF, though you can print a PDF on any size paper you like and scale to fit. This is not the same as making the PDF the correct size for your printer to impose on his press.

  • Solaris 9 postscript printing paper size incorrect

I'm trying to setup a number of remote printers that are by default A4 printers.
Printing a text test page works correctly.
When the Oracle Application produced a postscript report, the printer asks for US Letter paper.
I have tried forcing the media type to be A4 and force printing to the A4 tray, but since the printers are postscript enabled, I think the forcing has no effect as the printer interprets the postscript and sees that it's US letter format.
So, without changing the printer or the paper, or the format of the Oracle Report, is there a way to have the solaris printing system (not CUPS) change or force the paper format to be A4 ?
Also, is there any GOOD documentation on Solaris printing?
    Cheers

  • Paper Sizes in Acrobat XI Standard/ Win7

    Hi,
Our firm recently upgraded from Acrobat 7 Pro. I researched online prior to making this switch, and identified the following differences between Standard and Pro based on the published Product Comparison chart:
limits to batch actions and automation
    conversion from PDF to Powerpoint
    creating PDF Portfolios
    inserting interactive content (incl Flash)
    FormsCentral
    File comparison and highlighting
    Redaction tools
    Accessibility verification tools
I specifically noted that Standard and Pro both advertised the exact same ability to "Create PDF files from virtually any desktop application that prints." I didn't need the Pro features, so we purchased Acrobat XI Standard.
We are an architectural firm, and we plot to large PDF paper sizes. We are on 64-bit AutoCAD, and thus the PDFMaker plug-in is not compatible (Adobe has still not updated their plug-ins to be 64-bit compliant), so we have to use the PDF Printer. This should not be a problem, because that's the way we always did it before; but after installing Acrobat XI standard, the large paper sizes we need are not available. So, technical support issue, right? After several long (and friendly) chats with Adobe Support, I received conflicting information about whether this feature should be available or if it is supposed to be limited to Pro; we were finally able to hack a solution by using a paper size name that did not conflict with the system sizes that were already installed (but which the PDF printer refused to see).
I see a lot of "MVPs" on this site stating as a fact that large paper sizes are limited to the Pro version. I asked Adobe during our support chat for documentation of this limitation of Acrobat Standard, and they could not provide such documentation. As noted above, Acrobat Standard IS able to print to large formats, if you create the paper size yourself and name it something other than the system-installed size.
So... for the sake of anyone else who is researching this issue:
If you have a solution to make Acobat Standard recognize all the system-installed paper sizes, I'd love to hear it
Don't trust MVPs on this forum
    Don't trust Adobe's marketing materials
Needless to say, this was a disappointing hacked-together solution after spending thousands on new software. I hope it saves someone else the headaches that I've gone through to make this work for us.

    Bernd,
The paper sizes are pre-defined in the Windows 7 Print Server, but the Adobe PDF printer will not recognize them. In fact, when I try to add one, it says "Not allowed to modify system or printer defined paper size." That's why, as noted above, we had to name it something else and effectively duplicate the system sizes to get the PDF printer to recognize them. I went through this with Adobe Support already. Please don't confuse the issue with non-answers; there are plenty of threads on this forum already that have similarly unhelpful or misleading information.

  • How do I print multiple PDFs AND fit them to my paper size?

    Hi,
I'm using a 24 inch wide plotter with roll paper. I want to be able to print multiple PDFs  AND fit them to a specified paper size. I can print one page and fit it to the paper, but I can't do it with multiple PDFs.
For example, I have two PDFs that are only 8x8 inches. I want to print them side by side on a 24 inch x 12 inch page size and fit them to size and then FIT them to the page size so the end result will be 2 PDFs printing at 12 x 12 side by side.
I can't seem to be able to do this. I'm sure I was able to do this using earlier versions. As it is, I have to print one at a time and waste half of my roll paper size.
    Any help?

  • Adobe Reader 11 "choose paper source by pdf page size" does not work

    Hello,
I have a user that utilizes the "choose paper source by pdf page size" option when printing a PDFs. He has a PDF that has a letter sized page and a legal sized page.
I recently upgraded his Adobe Reader from 10 to 11 and now that option isn't working for him. The printer is an HP LaserJet M2727nf MFP.
Are their any bugs regarding that feature in the new Adobe Reader?
    Thanks!

If you have not updated Acrobat, try that before you go further. Currently AA9 is at 9.5.1.

    Any help much appreciated

    Hey there @SMFTEDDY ,
I saw your thread and messages and wanted to add to it. I have checked the Copy Menu on the printer itself (below), and it does not contain the option to copy in A4 size. You might just have to use the work around scanning method recommended above to get to use the A4 size you wish to use with the Photosmart 7520.
    Good luck

  • Selecting "choose paper source by pdf page size" causes page to print as mirror image thumbnail

Printing from acrobat reader 9.3.4 to a bizhub C220 printer/copier using the postscript driver in XP sp3. when you select "choose paper source by pdf page size" the document prints mirror image as a tiny thumbnail in the corner of the page? We have replicated the problem with different computers and other copier/printers. This does not occur when using the PCL driver. Any ideas?

Do you not get any options after you have selected print
then select Print using System dialogue
which then opend another box , where I select Layout
and can select how I want the document printed.
As you can see I do use an Epson Printer though, but this is the way when using Mac OSX

  • Booklet .pdf with crop marks, booklet doesn't fit the current paper size warning

Hello. I am on XP using CS4 InDesign.
I have the document set up as 4 pages, each 8.5 x 11, however, when creating a booklet .pdf, I mean it to be 2 pages 11x17.
When I add in the crop marks they do not appear on the .pdf when it is created. I receive a warning in the booklet diaglog that the booklet doesn't fit the current paper size and it says to specify a larger paper size.
What can I do to have the crop marks on my file? I understand the .pdf will be a little larger than 11x17 in order to fit the crop marks.
Thanks for any help in advance.

    Hi Peter,
Thank you. I did try that first, but now I figured out what I did wrong. When the .pdf was made and opened, I cropoped the page according to the marks, but the page remained 12 x 18 instead of 11x17. I made sure that the "automatically adjust to fit marks and bleeds" and "use document bleed settings" was checked in the booklet dialog and print InDesign dialog.
When I cropped the page again to make sure I sized it correctly, it was 11x17.
    Thank you!!!

  • Acrobat 9 "Choose paper Source by PDF page size" prints as thumbnail

I have a customer who is trying to print a document that has different page sizes, eg. p.1 is 8 x 11, p.2 is 11 x 17. He can select the page size manually and everything works as expected. If you put a check mark in "Choose paper Source by PDF page size" it prints as backward thumbnails on 8 x 11. Selecting "print as image" makes it fill the page, but only prints on 8 x 11. Changing the printer driver to PCL did not fix, nor did installing an updated PS driver. All updates have been installed. I called tech support and they basically just gave me link to the script they use during troubleshooting. I also did a google search, but haven't come up with a valid answer. It is Acrobat 9 Standard on Win XP. Any advice is good advice.

    It's a Windows only feature: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/332/332720.html#main_Mixed_sizes

  • Xerox 7830 fails to obey "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro -- Adobe issue or Xerox issue? Workaround?

Our former office printer (Xerox 7345) had no problem with this. But the new Xerox 7830 fails to obey the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro. Even the "Page Setup" is overridden by the Xerox printer driver. It is extremely annoying to have to go into the Xerox driver dialog every time, regardless of that check in the box and the correct dimensions being displayed in the picture.....

Unfortunately, not only does this not solve the problem with multi-page-size documents, but it's begun happening on files which are all one size as well, where that box isn't even checked.
It appears that what's happening is the newer versions of Adobe Acrobat don't play nicely with emulated postscript support past a certain date. We're replacing our Canon with a newer model that has actual postscript support, and if that resolves the issue I'll be certain to post confirmation here. Copies of Adobe Acrobat 7 and 8 in our office haven't seen this problem at all; it's simply everyone who has upgraded past that point that can't print reliably.
More news next week, after we get the new copier.
