PDF password

I know i must be thick, but can anyone out there in the real world please tell my how on god's earth do i find a stupid PDF password so i can open a simple file that after 3 months of trying it MAY! be able to assist me in doing the most simplest of task's? I bought a Canon 5d II from a guy and he is registered as the author and HIS name comes up as copywrite of my work, and all i want to do is go on line and change it over into my name. So Canon has given me some info on what to download, but guess what? I can't open it because i need a PDF password. I did'nt get a disc with the camera, and adobe can't help me because there are no real people out there to talk to, and YES! i am VERY FRUSTRATED.
Can anyone PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP.

Eddy,
As this appears to be the same problem, posted in this Ps General Discussions thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/6151131#6151131
I will Lock this duplicate post, so that all discussion can continue in that other thread, to avoid much confusion. It is also a very good idea to ONLY post of a single problem once. You might have to be patient, until a user comes along with help, but that is the nature of the Adobe Forums - they are mostly user-to-user.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • I cannot open PDF files in Photoshop Elements as it is asking for a PDF Password?

    I cannot open PDF files in Photoshop Elements as it is asking for a PDF Password?

    Is it possible that the creator of the files set a password? That's usually the only time PSE asks for one, although you may be able to open the file just fine in a pdf program that isn't password-aware.

  • AirPrint and pdf password protected file issue

    Hello
    I'm facing issue while printing pdf password protected file via Airprint.
    From my iPhone /iPad I can print without any issue to my HP dj 2540 almost everything except pdf password protected file.
    The same pdf file (protected with password) can be printed without any issue form any PC/laptop.
    Do anyone have any idea on how to solve this issue, please?
    Thanks
    regards
    Michele

    It seems that everyone asking this question have links from Grand Canyon University which will soon have over a 100,000 online students that all use ebooks that open just fine in Adobe Acrobat on their PCs BUT NOT on the mobile versions of Adobe Acrobat. Whatever allows this on PCs needs to be added to the mobile version soon.  We rely on our etextbooks that can ONLY be opened on the PC version of Acrobat.  That is ridiculous.  I can't believe with all the posts regarding password protected ebooks on this forum....that it hasn't been resolved.  No one can give you a link because the ebooks are on a website that needs a password.  We can save the books to our harddrives/dropbox...  I could send you a copy, but thats it.  Surely someone at Adobe knows what the hell is going on and can test the problem out themselves?

  • What is a PDF password?

    What is  PDF password and  how do I generate one?  I try to open a PDF photo file in Elements 11 and it says I need a password.  I have no idea what this is.

    You don't need to generate one. The person who created the PDF set it up to require a password to open it. You will need to contact whoever created it to get the password in order to view it.

  • How robust is PDF-Password protection? Does it also work for PDF/A?

    Several sources say that PDF passwords can be removed with appropriate software. Is this true?
    Can I also protect a PDF/A with a password? If not, how can I be sure that I can still open a regular password protected PDF in 10 years from now?
    Many thanks.

    Actually PDF/A is specifically designed to guarantee that the documents can be read in the distant future (barring global destruction, end of reality as we know it, alien sheep invasions, etc.)
    While we cannot predict which vendor will be providing the software to do it, or how the data will be stored by then (holographic data mice are still in beta) the PDF/A standard is designed to do two very important things:
    The standard is open, so the structure of a PDF/A file can be interpreted by anyone who can open it and compare the contents to the standard (which itself is also published in PDF/A). It's basically a text file with lots of symbols in it.
    PDF/A forbids any encryption or licensed algorithms (e.g. H.264) that could be impossible or illegal for a future viewer to use, for example if a password is lost or the inventor of a proprietary algorithm goes crazy and cancels all the licenses.
    Combined, these points make PDF/A impossible not to be parsable. It may end up projected directly into your brain by the aforementioned holographic data mouse, but you'll be reading it all the same.

    As to your ability to open a secured password in 20 years from now? Heck there is no guarantee that your non-secured pdf file will be readable in 20 years. With PDF/A your chances are pretty good as it uses standards based file format, but there is no guarentee that Adobe or any other company doing business today will be in business 20 years from now.

  • How can I remove PDF password?

    Hi guys, recently I've got a really annoying problem at work. Some of my PDFs can not be copyed, edited or printed. I know that's because they're secured but how can I remove the password? Any idea to work out the problem?

    Hello,
    As there is no any C# solution ,I would like to psot some sample codes to achieve this.
    using Spire.Pdf;
    using Spire.Pdf.Security;
    namespace modify_PDF_passwords
    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    //load a encrypted file and decrypt it
    String encryptedPdf = @"..\Encrypt.pdf";
    PdfDocument doc = new PdfDocument(encryptedPdf, "e-iceblue");
    //reset PDF passwords and set user password permission
    doc.Security.OwnerPassword = "Spire.PDF";
    doc.Security.UserPassword = "pdfcomponent";
    doc.Security.Permissions = PdfPermissionsFlags.Print | PdfPermissionsFlags.FillFields;
    //Save pdf file.
    doc.SaveToFile("Encryption.pdf");
    doc.Close();
    //Launching the Pdf file.
    System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("Encryption.pdf");
    Anyway ,it is a PDF component based solution,which works pretty fine for me.

  • PDF password security greyed out while saving a PDF MP Navigator

    Hello,
    I am unable to set a password for pdf's that I scan with MP Navigator. I have been doing it for years, but now it has greyed out. It is not selectable. I recently upgraded my mobo and did a clean reinstall. The problem occurred before the upgrade and now remains despite full reinstalls of everything. The preferences button provides no way to turn passwords on or off. The Set... button shows password security also greyed out.
    Win 7 Home premium 64 bit, 8GB, 250GB SSD root drive, Core i7. MP navigator EX 5.1. Pixma MP 895.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    A simple way is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript or PDF Optimizer (Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Discard Objects > Flatten form fields). A very nice script that adds a custom menu item can be found here: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/

  • Preview/Adobe PDF password protection issue

    I have a pdf file that is password protected to be able to view the content. The protection works as it should in Adobe Reader. However, when I open the file in Preview I can see the first page, but the rest are unviewable. The page thumbnail on the right is just a placeholder, not an actual thumbnail and when you navigate to those pages the actual page appears as a ? in a box.
    Any suggestions as to what is going on or how to make this work properly?

    Just to register that it seems to be really a problem with Preview. I had a similar problem too. I had a secure PDF (no doc assembly, no page extraction, no commenting, no filling form, no signing, no creation of template pages) and it opens as expected in Acrobat Reader 9, but in Preview, all pages ate blank, and the thumbs are absent, with only the first page being seen as a blank one. I tried to open it in Acrobat Reader 8 and it says that it couldn't open the document because it couldn't decrypt it. I guess that Acrobat 9 has some new encryption scheme that is incompatible with previous versions, including Apple's Preview.
    I'd like to know if a fix for this is planned.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Authenticate PDF passwords remotely

    When user enters password for a PDF file can those password be authenticated remotely, by calling some web service ?

    This can be accomplished with Digital Rights Management. This is quite costly are requires a server. Think 5 to 6 figures and per use fees. You can check out The LiveCycle Suite of Products if you want more information.

  • PDF password problem

    Hi,
    I am developing a application in which I am creating PDF files using PDF specifications given in PDF 1.3. All things are working, for data encryption I am using FlateDecode. Now I have to implement password protection in PDF. I read complete specification regarding this. I want to use standard security handler for this. I implemented this also. I am giving both user and owner password to PDF, but still I am not able to open this file.
    For owner password I am using following steps if anyone implemented this please check it and let me know.
    For owner password:
    1) I gave "jain"
    2)after padding it is
    jain(¿N^NuŠAd.NVÿú.....¶Ðh>€/.©þ
    for padding I used
    0x28, 0xBF, 0x4E, 0x5E, 0x4E, 0x75, 0x8A, 0x41,
    0x64, 0x00, 0x4E, 0x56, 0xFF, 0xFA, 0x01, 0x08,
    0x2E, 0x2E, 0x00, 0xB6, 0xD0, 0x68, 0x3E, 0x80,
    0x2F, 0x0C, 0xA9, 0xFE, 0x64, 0x53, 0x69, 0x7A
    3)MD5 hash this
    output is Qåý†ÜzùÀù 7 Õ¹Î`
    4)Get the 5 byte key for rc4 algo
    it is Qåý†Ü
    5)get the user password "atul"
    6) after padding it is atul(¿N^NuŠAd.NVÿú.....¶Ðh>€/.©þ
    7)call the rc4 algo as
    CryptAcquireContext (&vCryptProv, NULL, MS_ENHANCED_PROV, PROV_RSA_FULL, CRYPT_VERIFYCONTEXT);
    CryptCreateHash (vCryptProv, CALG_MD5, 0, 0, &vHashObj);
    CryptHashData (vHashObj, (unsigned char*)pEncKey, 5, 0);
    CryptDeriveKey (vCryptProv, CALG_RC4, vHashObj, CRYPT_EXPORTABLE, &vSessionKey);
    CryptEncrypt (vSessionKey, 0, TRUE, 0, (unsigned char*)rawdata, pEncMsgLen, rawdatalen);
    8) so final owner entry is
    õ¶hÈHWVtMº|émÊöó^g(æO¨&LÔMYûÜý—
    but I don't know whether it is correct or not, If u can please verify these steps and let me know.

    but I think the process for getting owner password is same. then how does it matter ?

  • Mountain lion pdf password?

    i recieved an e-mail from with pdf but it is locked

    The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. Apple is not here. Apple does not answer questions here. You will need to contact Apple directly for a solution.

  • Redeem Code PDF password

    I just received the email with the redeem code PDF for mountain lion.  What password are they referring to when I go to open it?

    You should have received a second email containing the password you will need to unlock the PDF containing the redemption code. If you can't find that email, you will have to get in touch with Apple and get them to send it again. Once you have unlocked the pdf and copied the code, you can launch the App Store, then select "Redeem" under Quick Links.

  • Why unable to sign PDF with certificate after applying Nitro PDF password protection? (despite it explicitly allowing signing with certificates)

    I used Adobe Reader XI to sign PDFs with certificate, which worked perfectly. Except that the PDF could still be edited by other programs (for example, Nitro PDF) after the signing (but not the fill out fields and the signature). To apply password protection makes sense to avoid changes in the PDF being made after it has been signed. So I applied password protection via Nitro PDF that allows only enter fill-out fields and signing. But when I open it with Adobe Reader, the filling out works fine, but the signing part is not available to click on it (all of the buttons under "Sign" tab are grey). When I go on the Security properties with Adobe Reader, I can explicitly see that signing of this PDF is allowed and yet the option is not open to use for me anymore.
    Any ideas on why it is the case and what I could do about that?
    Many thanks!
    O.

    Actually yes, I just asked my colleague to assist me with this, he password-protected the PDF with Acrobat 8, explicitly allowing for signing and fill-out functions, it also appears in Adobe Reader under security properties as "allowed", but it is not open to use in the Reader for me anymore (grey buttons).

  • PDF password security rights enabling

    Hi all,
    We have Reader Extension ES & PDF Generator ES with us.
    Throught PDF Generator ES we have already configured password security for PS to PDF.
    Is this possible in pdf alone through PDF generator ES.
    I have "watermarked" pdf with me I need to incorporate password security right to PDF alone not through PS.
