PDF Preview Handler Windows 2012 R2 Terminalserver

Hallo Commuity,

Yeah... been there, done that... I took up beating my head against the wall shortly afterward... got the same result.
For the people forced to use Outlook this is a real problem, but I have made the choice NOT to use IE (other than testing web pages for compatibility), Outlook (I use Thunderbird), Most ALL of Office (OpenOffice is free and every bit as productive), Windows Media Player, or anything that Microsoft produces other than Windows and now that I've got a Mac again... that's changing too.

  • Acrobat Preview Handler Windows Server 2012

We have installed a Windows 2012 server standard virtual terminal server for a client. It has now had both Acrobat X and Acrobat XI installed to attempt to rectify the preview handler issue.
When selecting a PDF file to preview, Windows will display an error message on the taskbar stating:
    "An internal error occurred"
This error will also occur when attempting to preview a PDF from Outlook 2013 or MYOB.
I have looked at the registry fixes for previous versions of Windows/Acrobat to repair the handler, but as the relevant registry chages were made to the Acrobat X installer, they are not applicable to this situation. Using a third party PDF preview handler is not an option for the client.
The preview handler appears to work fine in a Server 2012 environment that is not running terminal services.

The registry entry for Preview Handler, Image handler and Thumbnail handler is :

    Hi Guys ,
We are facing a serious issue with Windows 8 and Adobe PDF Preview Handler . We are using the PDFPrevHndlr.dll from Adobe to show PDF Previews in our application. It is working fine in Windows 7 and Vista and for some reason it is not working in Windows 8.1 64 bit machines after upgrading to Adobe Pro 10.0.10 .  Please help us figure out what is the root cause of this issue .
During a close analysis we have found that the PrevHost.exe( Windows component ) is failing soon after it is being invoked . Any help in this is much appreciated.

  • Again after last patch: Windows 64 - PDF preview handler not working

Adobe's PDF preview handler doesn't work unter Windows XP/Vista/7 64 bit. Because of that PDF preview e.g. in Windows explorer or MS Outlook isn't displaying PDF preview.
This issue has been discussed in this forum some months ago, and this page gives a solution that has helped:
    http://www.pretentiousname.com/adobe_pdf_x64_fix/index.html#fixer
Instead of fixing this well-known issue with the last patch Adobe decided again not to fix. And after installing the patch you have to repair PDF preview handler again...

  • Error in PDF preview Handler in Windows Explorer x32

I'm running Windows 7, 32 bit. and I get this error when trying to view a pdf in the preview pane "Error in PDF Preview Handler". I have Adobe Reader X installed, and have re-installed it with no  help.
I've read many problems about this, but everyone else is running 64 bit. I'm running 32.
    Any help please. Thank you

    Yes - sorry !
I solved my problem with the exchange of the UNC path against drive letters for the folders in
Administration - System initialisation - General settings - Tab Path
    Before:
    sbo-data\ruk\attachemnts
After: E:\ruk\attachements (E: is a local drive of the server and we run B1 via Windows Terminal Client on the same machine)
Before I did this, I checked the user rights on the paths, checked the DNS, hosts file, etc.

Pdf Preview Handler Error in outlook 2010 32.bit and Server 2008 64.bit. Using Adobe X. Registry app id correct. Turned on previewer in outlook in trust center. Repaired adobe installation. All to no avail. Any thoughts or fixes. Please Help

Hello i got nearly the same problem. Selecting the .pdf attachment in outlook. error code says that no preview can be showed, because the needed preview isn't installed.
Server 2012 R2 as Terminalserver, Outlook 2013, newest version of adobe reader XI.
    I've already checked the following:
    - outlook>options>trustcenter>trustcenter settings>attachment handling .. the box disable preview is clear .. furthermore outlook>options>trustcenter>trustcenter settings>attachment handling>attachment and documentpreview .. all
boxes including pdf preview handler are filled.
    - adobe reader XI>edit>presettings?>e-mail-account ... outlook is standart.
    - Registryentry: "Change the AppID value to {534A1E02-D58F-44f0-B58B-36CBED287C7C}"
    - also i repaired the adobe installation and i reinstalled it a few times.
    - even checked the access-rights on the temp. directorys outlook uses for attachments and the users have full access.
i have no more clue what it can be..
so may you have the solution for me or at least some tips.

  • PDF preview in windows 8.1

I am facing a problem previewing PDF file from my application.
It was working find in windows xp and windows 7 machines, but showing error line "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component" in windows 8.1 machine.
my application using "Adobe PDF preview for Vista" for PDF preivew.
i think my previewer is causing the problem, but dont know which preview handler me to use instead of "Adobe PDF preview Handler for vista"
please help me to solve this
ps: from my windows explorer i can see pdf preview.
    Thanks
    Rosh

After a close debug, i found that "doPreview" is crashing my application. Also the previewer assembly "PDFPrevHndlr.dll" is modified in Adobe Acrobat XI.
the modified "DoPreview" method now expecting 2 parameter (int, out int), after giving some values in it, it stops crashing, still my PDF preview not shown up.

  • Adobe PDF preview handler error after install Reader XI

I have received a notification that an update to Reader XI is available.  After the installation M/S outlook could not preview all PDF files with the error:

  • Outlook 2007 PDF preview on Windows Server 2003?

Simple question. Does the new (Reader 8.1) PDF Preview feature for Outlook 2007 work in Windows Server 2003? Or is it only for XP and Vista? The patch notes strongly suggest the latter, but in other places (such as a blog on this site) there are notes explicitly stating that the feature should work in server operating systems.
We happen to be running Citrix (PS4.5) on this server as well, but I'm not convinced that's material: the feature doesn't work running Outlook on the server's own console.
When I attempt to preview a PDF in Outlook 2007, I am told, "This file cannot be previewed because of an error with the following previewer: Adobe PDF Preview Handler".
Before I go much farther with troubleshooting this, can anyone confirm firsthand that PDF previewing works in Outlook 2007 on Server 2003?

I was using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 and Outlook 2007 on Server 2003 SP2 and the Adobe PDF Preview Handler worked.
Unfortunately, it stopped working after some time and I'm pretty sure I did not make any changes to the system. However, I did try to uninstall, reinstall and update Adobe Acrobat but still, it does not work.
Any ideas why this is happening how to resolve it?
    Many thanks.

  • PDF Preview Handler Not Working in Outlook 2010

I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Outlook 2010.
Everything was working fine, until a few months ago when the PDF Preview Handler stopped working. I got the typical message that others were having with the issue with Adobe Reader 9. I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro and have also used Adobe Reader X. I have tried the little registry fix app that is supposed to fix this issue, but it states that my registry is already correct. Has anyone found a resolution for this issue with Acrobat X and Outlook 2010? As a workaround I am using the Foxit PDF Preview Handler, but I have to reinstall it everytime Adobe Reader or Acrobat is udpated as for some reason Outlook then reverts back to the PDF Preview Handler, which is not working.
    Thanks,
    Merg

Nope, using 32-bit. And I recently uninstalled Acrobat Pro completely and reinstalled it due to an issue with it not updating due to having the "Error Applying Transforms" issue. After I reinstalled, I updated it completely. I suppose I can try uninstalling and reinstalling again, but that seems like overkill.

No. Reader will not damage files. It is only meant to read pdf files. PDF files are frequently damaged when sent as email due to encoding issues.

  • PDF Preview Handler Issue

    Hi
I have a Windows 7 (64-bit) / Outlook 2007 / Adobe Reader XI setup where I can view PDF files via web browsing (IE) but not through Outlook attachments or Windows Explorer.

    Uninstalled & re-installed
    Installed iFilter 9 for 64-bit
    Cleared the Outlook temp folders
...and still can't get it to work.
    Any suggestions please ?????
