Apple TV mirroring issues even with Mac mini, airport extreme bought at the end of last year, and an iPad 2

I have the same issue with ATV3 and iPhone 4S. Everything works properly, no buffering issues when watching netflix, vimeo, youtube BUT when I try mirroring even a small 15sec iPhone movie it stutters and buffers and results to a choppy playback..same with larger mp4 files such as 1-1.5GB, buffers forever and never plays, I just re-encoded the same movie to 700MB and plays perfectly..
Why Apple, why?..so close..I can accept the bigger movie files issue, but not being able to playback properly an iPhone movie is funny..I recorded a movie with lower bitrate through Filmic Pro (Economy mode, up to 16Mbps)
    and plays properly.
Is there an upcoming software update going to solve the problem or is it hardware related and therefore not fixable.
Please don't reply with a network related answer, by 2012 we know how to set up our networks and everything else runs flawlessly.
I'll apreciate a fast answer, we love Apple, but if it can't play an iphone movie (or a high quality movie from iTunes) it's just not up to my standards.
    Thanks again.

  • I have an older apple keyboard, either a M2452 or a M7803.  Do these have compatibility issues with 2012 Mac Minis?

I have an older apple keyboard, either a M2452 or a M7803.  Do these have compatibility issues with 2012 Mac Minis?

I understand that you can connect any keyboard to a Mac Mini, my concern is that the modern Apple keyboards I have seen seem to have a layout much more similar to their PC counterparts. ie, they no longer have the "apple" key, etc.
Will I be missing functionality (using this older Apple keyboard)?

  • Can you use a Mac Mini to share documents between several devices? iPhones, MacBooks, iPads, etc...? We are a home based business with several locations across the state and are having Google Drive issues, looking into Mac Mini options.

We are having Google Drive issues (some files won't sync) and it's causing us trouble with our business communication. Is there any way to use a Mac Mini to share documents between two people in different areas similar to google drive? Would this just be done through iCloud?

If you use Numbers, Pages and KeyNote it si very easy to sync those document among all the Apple devices. You need montain Lion on the Mac  and at least iOS 5 on the mobile devices.
I show those document on my Mac, iPad 4 and iPhone 4S

  • Outlook PDF preview issue without adobe

I would like to preview PDF documents in outlook but I do not want to use the Adobe (or any other 3rd party)  suite to do so.
I can open the documents in Microsoft's 'Reader' but not in the preview pane. I have looked under trust center settings and have an Outlook message and items checked but no pdf preview to check
Running on Surface pro 3, Win 8.1, Office 2013

    Hi,
I'm using Office 2013 along with Windows 8.1, I can confirm there is no build-in PDF previewer in Outlook 2013. It seems we have to use some plug-ins to preview PDF in Outlook.

  • Quality issues with new Mac Mini 09?

I've been itching to hit the 'buy' button -- but in reading the many postings about the new Mac Mini, I'm seeing lots of issues with the bluetooth ... *wireless signal* ...
Is there anyone who's not experiencing any problems?
Sounds like it may be a hardware issue with connections... the last thing I want.
My other choice is the 2008 Mac Pro which seems trouble free.
    What do you think?
    Thanks.

There is a general issue/trend with the new Mini. There are plenty of reports in these forums and the news has begun to hit the wider press; I guess this is more important to a company with only 2-3% desktop share than posts to these forums. I went to the Genius Bar on Saturday and they have now lodged an official bug report with Apple. It looks like the Mini cannot pair with more than one HCI device. So if you pair with the mouse first the keyboard won't work and vice-versa. They don't think the Mini hardware is broken but that we will just have to wait for Apple to fix the firmware.
Where I do agree is that some issues are OS-X 10.5 related and can therefore affect all Macs. The WiFi has issues where it randomly drops, it doesn't seem able to re-connect at all to channels above 13 and only manually to channels below 12. The system resume function is unreliable. All these started when we moved from 10.4 to 10.5 and so far they have not been addressed. One issue is that there does not appear to be a way for users to log bug reports, except when software crashes. However, the bluetooth issues on the Mac do appear real and are either firmware or hardware related.

Your computer requires a special update that it's not available. Wait until Apple releases it

  • Issues with my Mac Mini & a Linksys Wireless Network

I have Linksys WRT54GS router hooked up to a Sprint DSL modem. Attached to the router is my homemade PC a Pentium 4 3.06 GHz HT with a Linksys wireless card installed, another homemade AMD computer connected via Ethernet, and I am attempting to get my Mac Mini on board too. The network is set to 128 Bit WEP security with a password. Both of the PCs are connected fine getting good speeds. My issue is that on the Mac when I attempt to connect it does one of the following things: (1) deems my password as invalid, (2) says there is "an error joining (network name)", (3) when I change the WEP Personal to WEP 40/128-bit hex will not allow me to type more than one character, or (4) when I change the WEP Personal to WEP 40/128-bit ACSII it either allows me to type the password and doesn't allow me to press OK or won't allow me to type a password at all. I did not attempt the LEAP because I don't know of a User name, just a password. Any suggestions on this dilema? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to the Forum
I found my Macs prefer using WPA encryption and they do this with ease. I had loads of issues when I first set up the LinkSys and attempted to use WEP, besides WPA is a lot more secure.

  • Monitor Issues after upgrading Mac Mini OS to Mavericks

I upgraded my older Mac Mini OS to Mavericks.  The monitor always worked fine on Snow Leopard (10.6.8 I think), but now my Hanns G monitor takes fifteen minutes to display anything.  Until then it is blank and makes clicking, popping noises every 3-5 seconds.  After it comes up, it works fine and all the settings seem to be correct.  Any ideas? Many thanks for any help you can provide.

Some more info: the monitor is a Hanns G HC194D and is set for 1280 x 1024 with a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB graphics.  My Mac Mini has a 2.26 GHz Intel Core Duo processor and has 2 GB 1067 Mhz DDR4 memory. The monitor display profile says it was created two weeks ago which strikes me as a bit odd, but I updated the OS well before then and this has been an issue since I updated to OS 10.9.3.  I have played around with the cables and the connections are tight, and once the monitor finally displays after 15 minutes or so on start-up or deep sleep, the monitor looks and runs fine.
It seems too coincidental that this problem only surfaced after upgrading the OS for it to be a monitor hardware issue, but I haven't seen any other reports of this type of problem. This is a very frustrating problem, so thanks for reading this far.

  • Sleeping issue with new mac mini

i have a new c2d 2.0 mac mini all software is up to date. the first night i was able to put it to sleep without any problems but since then when i try to put it to sleep by eithre the apple menu or hitting (eject, apple, option) the dvd drive clicks and the mini wakes up all in 5 seconds.
another sleep problem is with both mac mini's (the c2d and g4 1.42) neither will go to sleep with an external harddrive connected (mounted or not and still powered on) I have looked for an answer to this problem for a while and have found nothing. i thought i saw a thread on this very subject but have yet to find it again
    thanks for help
    Nick

    Hello,
It's nothing to really start worrying about, it's most likely down to a communication error between your hardware and your software. The simple solution is:
    1) Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord.
    2) Wait 15-20 seconds.
    3) Press and hold the power button on the back of the computer
    4) Whilst holding the power button, plug the power cord back into the machine
    5) Release the power button
    6) Press the power button once more to start up your Mac mini.
Everything should be sorted! (if not, call back here)
    Good luck

  • Anyone having Audio Issues with new Mac Mini, new Thunderbolt Display and new Pegasus R4?

I can't listen to the built-in speakers on my brand new Apple thunderbolt monitor to the terrible audio quality.  I'm running Mac Lion on a new Mac Mini with a brand new Promise Pegasus R4 - all purchased in January 2012.   The entire setup is connected via Thunderbust errh, I mean Thunderbolt.

    Hi,
I'm also having an audio problem, which I suspect now is caused by my Thunderbolt display.
See https://discussions.apple.com/message/21499606#21499606 for the small thread.

  • PDF Preview Issue

I am not sure where to post this, so feel free to tell me if there is a better spot.
I have a simple issue, I was sent a .pdf file that has text boxes where I can input information. After filling them out, I obviously want to save. When I save however, Preview informs me that I need to Save As a copy or .pdf information will be lost. It gives me no other option, so when I do this and reopen the document all the text I have input disappears. Is there a way to save the text that I input? I understand that normally text can't be saved in a .pdf, but for the file I need to fill out, there are obvious text boxes that look like I can input text and save it.
Simple issue, but I can't figure it out. Really appreciate any help.

Try "Print to PDF" from the "PDF" button at the bottom-left of the "Print" dialog window. If that won't work, you can install a virtual printer using CUPS-PDF

  • PDF Preview Issues since 10.6.5 Update

I've noted posts of similar PDF issues since the 10.6.5 update, though not exactly like mine. Since the update some PDF's are not rendering properly.
Specifically no text shows up (though the headers / graphics, underlines and text boxes were there). I forwarded the email to iMac running 10.6.4, and no issues, it reads fine. My iPhone also reads it fine.
Anyone having similar issue? Trying to understand whether this is some over-zealous security thing in the new update (note: I trust source of the PDF in question), since other PDF's can be read with no problems.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Thanks LD. Did the repair, reinstall, repair as suggested however the PDF's in question still do not show the written (font) part of the doc. So I investigated further asking the authors how they created their PDF and both were on a cheap (free?) version of Nitro.
So, I think I'll put this issue as solved, since I'm guessing that 10.6.5 just won't play nicely with all PDF creators until the 3rd parties do their own updates.

  • Lion "Option" boot issue on 2010 Mac Mini?

Last night I came across an odd problem.  I wanted to
boot into my Window7 partition so I could watch a new
BluRay I just purchased and doing the "Option" key
power on, it just sat at the gray screen for more than
a minute.  Thinking I may have encountered a "freeze"
issue I let go of the "option' key and in a few seconds
    started to boot to Lion.
I realized I had a Firewire drive attached that I use for
various temporary storage of videos, software, etc.  I
ejected it, shut down and tried the process all over.
This time, the "option" boot brought up the usual selections.
Well booted into Win7 and watched my BluRay.
Afterward, I shut down and did some tests.  Plugged in
my clone drive and did the "option" boot and all was normal
getting the display of all the bootable volumes.
I then repeated the original process that I had the problem
with and got the same result of sitting for ever on the gray
    screen.
I then tried plugging the drive in via USB and the "option"
    boot worked properly.
Okay, so I thought maybe that even though the drive in question
showed no faults with various tests may have been flakey in
some way, I tried another drive that I use for photo backup
and plugged into Mini via Firewire and tried the "option" boot.
Low and behold, I had the same gray screen forever until
released the option key and booting proceeded to Lion.
So, question is, has anyone else seen an issue like this
where if a Firewire drive is attached without an OS the
boot process hangs when doing the "option" boot?
Also, this behavior did not start until after Lion
    was installed.

THanks ds store for the links.  I had previoulsy seen those but was confused as I've seen some other postings saying that yes you can use Time Machine and go back to a previous back up when Snow Leopard was installed and it will reinstall Snow Leopard and all files at that time and remove Mountain Lion.  Other posting such as the ones you linked say that I have to use the Snow Leopard Install Disks- erase my hard drive and basiclly start from scratch reinstalling all applications and user files/documents that I've saved etc....  If the time machine option will work - I'd really like to go that route.

  • Performance Issues with Mac Mini (Late 2014)

    Dear All,
We have few Mac Minis with below mentioned configuration in our organization.
    Mac Mini (Late 2014)
    Processor : 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz) with 3MB on-chip shared L3 cache
    Storage : 500GB (5400-rpm) hard drive
    Memory : 4GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3 memory
Graphics : Intel HD Graphics 5000
Mac OS Version : 10.10.2 Yosemite
We are using these Mac Minis for iOS application development using Xcode, but now we are facing lots of performance related issues. We are sharing issue related details with you & want to get some help to improve our system performance.
    1) System is running very slow & take a lot of time to Boot.
    2) Some time it never boots & we need to press start button several time.
    3) When system goes in Sleep mode, then it takes much time to come to display screen to type Password.
    4) Sometimes the whole screen moves Downwards.
    5) Sometimes while during coding using Xcode in Simulator it shows some kind of Error “Unexpectedly quit”
    6) Xcode runs very slow & it take lots of time in switching between files.
    7) While closing any open application it take lots of time & show activity indicator for very long time.
    8) Sometimes it doesn’t support iPad when we connect it using USB cable.
Our development team is facing lots of issues using these Mac Minis, so please can anyone suggest us that how can we improve our system performance & is this configuration is ideal to run Mac OSx 10.10 Yosemite Series and to use it for iOS application development.
Please try to help us to solve these issues & try to share some valuable comments on it.
    Thanks

    Dear woodmeister50,
Here i am sharing required screenshots which you have suggested to share.
    1.  Open up activity monitor and select CPU.  Post the top 5 procersses
and their percentage of CPU usage.
    2.  Then select Memory.  Post the values listed in the box at the bottom
or you can post a screen shot that area.
Please analyze these Activity monitor logs & let us know if you want to share some feedback on that. We will also try to boot & run our system in safe mode.
    Thanks
