PDF Preview: Making the Transition To Clustered Data ONTAP

NetApp has refined its tools and processes for a smooth transition to clustered Data ONTAP. The latest software release removes the remaining barriers to entry, so if you’ve been holding back it’s time to make the move from 7-Mode to take full advantage of nondisruptive operations, scale-out, and more. This article explains the transition framework and provides links to the latest resources and tools.

  • UNIFIED MANAGER ALERT : on EXPIRING SSL certificates in clustered Data ONTAP systems

The default ssl certificates on clustered Data ONTAP systems are valid for 1 year.
Since we have cDOT clusters monitored via Oncommand Unified Manager 6.2, we would like Unified Manager to alert on expiring Certificates.
Is this possible in OCUM 6.2?
    Thanks

Thanks Saravanan, Initially i had it on RHEL 6.6, and i see some of the existing packages were of a older version and created some issues while rrdtool and sql installation. but i managed to do the installation and faced the same issue. I Didnt know that this is a user account issue not a package dependency issue.and thats the reason i got my server upgraded to RHEL 7.1 and the installation went fine but the same issue. But its working for now, thanks again :-)

  • ICal not making the transition from Leopard to Snow Leopard....

....you can read the original post here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2226228&tstart=0
Anyone have any suggestions on how to make Snow Leopard cooperate where iCal is concerned?

Scanner drivers are the most likely to be broken. Check with the vendor if updates are available (less likely if more than a couple of years old - or even 1 year in the case of HP)
If not check Support Downloads for updates. Apple have issued updates for most makes in the last 6 months, in fact there's a new one for HP on the site now.
Otherwise (once you've checked the links BGreg supplied) installation is usually straightforward. There's only one install option and that replaces system files only, without affecting your data or applications or preference settings.
(always wise to back up first of course in case of surprises/finger trouble)
If you have PPC applications still (like AppleWorks), ensure you select Rosetta in the installations. It's there by default in Leopard, but you need to select it in SL.

  • Making the transition from Java to C++?

    Hi,
I am a Java programmer, who has never touched C or C++. I wish to apply for a student internship where one of the requirements is 'capable in C++'. The closing date for the internship is in February and I would love to get the job. How difficult would it be to learn C++ to a 'capable' level from a 'capable' level of Java before I would be tested (interviews are probably in late feb/march)?
    Cheers!
    Jack

If I were you I'd Google for a tutorial on C++ for Java programmers. If such exists, it will save you a lot of time (over slogging through an introductory C++ tutorial for non-programmers).
As I recall C++ (it's been a while) the biggest gotcha will be memory management.
Porting your existing Java game is a good idea.
I'd also suggest checking out which libraries and environments they use. If they only develop for Windows, for example, then you should probably get used to that. If they use some toolkit for developing games -- say a physics library -- you might want to fiddle with that if you have time. This is probably just icing on the cake.
For a student internship at a game company, seeming young and cool might weigh more than pure technical competence anyway (at least in comparison to other companies and non-internship programming jobs). Game programmers like to think of themselves as a breed apart so you might want to check out game industry sites (like gamasutra.com).
Find a C++ forum if you have questions.
There's nothing else to say really. Try to learn C++ and see how it goes. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. At your age, you should try either way! Youth is the time in life that you should push yourself and be willing to make mistakes. Just don't get a drug habit, a prison term, a disabling injury, or an STD, and you'll be fine.

  • Making The Transition

Alright well I'm looking at buying the MacBook in a couple of months. I'm wondering is it really a good idea to make the switch, and if it will work like I think it's going to. Here's a couple of things I'd like to know...
The Plug&Play feature for cameras. Is this only for MiniDV cameras? Because I have a Hi8(yes I know,it's ghetto) that I'm planning on using for filming, and I want to know if I can plug this in and go. Which brings me to my next topic...
iMovieHD. How good is this program for editing? Can you make parts of the video overlap words? Can you control the sound balance for each clip or is it just one way for the entire video? Or is this a cheapo editor like Windows Movie Maker.
MSN Messenger. I know you can get this for Macs,I used it on my friends MacBook Pro before. Can you use the iSight feature on MSN the same way you'd use a webcam? Or do you HAVE to have AIM?
Running Mac OS X and Windows XP at the same time. How hard is this to do? What programs do I need to do it?
Alright well that's pretty much all the questions I have about switching haha. Please try to answer as many as possible.
    Thanks alot by's,
    Christian

Hi - I made the switch a couple of weeks ago and, after some intense initial frustration, I'm really happy with the Mac OS, the macbook, and parallels, which I bought specifically so that I could have windows and mac on at the same time.
As for messenger -- messenger for mac is a scaled-down version of messenger-live, which I have on the windows side of my macbook. Messenger for mac has no camera feature, and isight doesn't work in windows. I did download AIM, but discovered yesterday that Yahoo messenger for mac works with isight. On the mac side now I have ichat hooked up to aim, yahoo, skype, and messenger for mac, but I suspect that in a while I'll find a way to use only one or two of them and will be able to drop the rest.
If you want windows and mac apps running at the same time, as I do, parallels is the only way to go. You can download it online for 80 dollars. The good part: when I am working in windows and mac at the same time I can move my mac pointer into the lower left corner of my screen and see EVERY program, mac and windows, that is open and running, point and click on one, and it comes to the fore -- in other words, switching back and forth takes only a second or two.
I have seen some users say they can't get used to having no right click, but in parallels and in mac you can set up your trackpad so that tapping with two fingers is a right click. I use that and have had no problem getting used to it in place of the right click.
The bad part -- when parallels is open, my macbook does slow down noticeably and it runs a bit hotter -- not great on an already hot machine. I have 1 gig of memory and a 1.83 gHz processor and I wonder if the better processor and/or 2 gigs of memory would help with this.
As far as how hard it is to run both at the same time -- it just isn't. Installing parallels, getting it to work, and traveling back and forth between windows and mac are all exceptionally easy and a lot of fun.
And, unlike most users here, I think, I really enjoy BOTH operating systems, and want to use programs in both. The macbook has been PERFECT for this and I already can't see ever going back to a single OS machine.

  • Need snapshot names of clustered Data ONTAP volumes in WFA3.1 for use in user input fields

Hi, I want the operator of workflows choose from a list of snapshot of volumes (e. g. to use it as a base for a cloning operation). For this I need the snapshots of cDOT volumes in a table (e. g. cm_storage.snapshot) in order to use sql statements to select them. I am aware of the discussions in thread1 or in thread2. But the solution in thread2 cannot be imported in WFA3.1 (see my comments in both threads). Meanwhile the creator of the solution in thread2 has left NetApp and may not update it. NetApp itself seems not to be able or willing to solve this issue (either in  filling this table in WFA by default or porting the solution of thread2 to WFA3.1). I would create this table, datasource and OCUM/cluster connection by myself, if someone can tell me the steps how to do this. Is there somebody who can describe/share what to do to get such a table filled with snapshot names from clustered DataONTAP volumes? Thanks in advance. Walter

Hello, I like to know your requirement first.I can see, there is a table namely 'Snapshot' under cm_storage_smsv from which you can pick the snapshots. So I think, below query will suffice the same: SELECT    Snapshot.name AS 'name',    Snapshot.volume AS 'volume',    Snapshot.vserver AS 'vserver',    Snapshot.cluster AS 'cluster',    Snapshot.snapmirror_label AS 'snapmirror_label',    Snapshot.timestamp AS 'timestamp'FROM    cm_storage_smsv.Snapshot SnapshotWHERE          Snapshot.volume = '${VolumeName}'          AND Snapshot.cluster = '${ClusterIP}'          AND Snapshot.vserver = '${VServerName}' Let me know if I misunderstood something. Thanks                --Gaurab

  • PDF preview of iPhoto book shows image degradation

For years I have made iPhoto books first designing pages with text and color imagery in InDesign, then exporting PDFs of the pages to iPhoto via Automator, and then placing the designed pages into blank pages of the iPhoto book. Prior to printing I preview the book by going to Preview in the print dialog box. The preview images have always been spot on regarding what the image quality of the finished book would be. Now I'm trying to make a large book incorporating both color and black and white images. These are elegant, black and white images that have been lovingly restored in Photoshop and feature full tonal ranges. They are TIFF images. Subsequent to making a small, trial run book, I discovered that if I kept the images as grayscale images, they printed too dark. AS a result of phone conversations with Apple and trying the Adobe discussion site, I found that if I resaved the BW images as RGB, the page PDFs I generated when exporting the pages out of InDesign reproduced the BW images perfectly. Likewise, throughout the process of assembling the new iPhoto book, when I placed the pages, the BW images looked gorgeous. However, just prior to uploading the book, I decided to preview the pages and generated a PDF preview in the print dialog box. Lo and behold, all the images show up noticeably different; the BW images lack good blacks--the dark areas seem distinctly muddy compared to the originals. Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening and how I might regain the original look? Thanks. I'm using iPhoto 11 with Snow Leopard on a new iMac.

I don't think you're doing anything incorrectly. I think that the inside page is automatic in the printing process and is not included in the pdf file that is created. Only the cover and pages 1-20 or whatever are added to the pdf file.

  • Urgent help needed with iPhoto/pdf preview for book order - mysterious pixelated areas show on PDF but not in iPhoto

Hello. I ordered an iPhoto book last week to give to my parents for their 50th wedding anniversary. Tonight, I just checked on the order status and found that my book is cancelled. I received no notification about it, and all I could do was fill out the online form, so customer service will get back to me on Monday via email (if I'm lucky...). There is no telephone number for me to call about this. I decided I'd best do some searching to try to figure out what had happened.
I had thought that the preview I saw in iPhoto was the preview of the book. I found out I was wrong. So I created a PDF preview of the book and found some craziness that I don't understand. In iPhoto (and any other program, i.e. PhotoShop), my photos are fine. They are mostly TIFF format and high resolution with a few high res JPEGs. However, when I view the PDF, there is a band of black and white pixelation about 1/2-inch across the bottom of some pages - not all. The photos in that area are messed up in that band zone. The other photos are totally unaffected. This affects both TIFF and JPEG photos, and both black and white and color.
Has anyone else had this problem, and what was your solution? I would be extremely grateful to anyone for advice or information about this! The anniversary party is less than a week away and I'm beyond my limit of stress right now...

Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new library.  Import enough photos for a book (use some of those in the current book) create a new book and preview as a PDF.  If you don't see the problem then it's limited to your library which may be damaged.  If that's the case make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot and the option to rebuild the small thumbnails.
If you get the same problem in the test library then log into another user account on your Mac, create a test library and try it there.  If the problem shows up there a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated.  To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
If you don't encounter the problem in the other user account then it's something in your account that's the culprit. Post back with the results.

  • Multiple master pages, But only first master page is printed or is shown in pdf preview.

    Hi,
I have 8 master pages in my adobe form, But when I see the PDF preview or print only the first master page is shown or printed. Can anyone please tell me how to print or pdf preview all the master pages. The contents in the master pages are different.
    Thanks in advance.

Master pages are used a background for body pages (similar to a background image).
You should put all your contents on separate body pages instead master pages.

  • PDF Preview function disabled

After about a month of using Designer 7, the "PDF Preview" item under the "View..." menu is now disabled? Anybody have this problem before or know what might cause it?

    Jason,
I think you can turn it back on by right click on the "Body Page" tab and select "PDF Preview" from the pop-up menu.

  • Adobe Layout PDF preview

    Hello,
I am getting problems when I try to do PDF Preview in the layout of the adobe live cycle designer.
This is custom Form which I copied from ISR_HRASR_SHU1. The error I get is "Failed To Save The File" and further message is "Runtime Error" Program : C:\Progra1\adobe\Design1.0\formde~1.exe. This Application has requested runtime to terminate in unusual way.
I tried re-installing the Adobe live cycle designer but still get the same message.
    Any Ideas what happening here?
    Thanks
    Prasad

I tried on my colleague's PC and was able to do PDF preview on custom layouts. Basically it needs 7.1 GUI and 7.1 Adobe LC Designer. But there's other problem there. It does not load the Menu and get message Loading Custom menu. Please wait. No Idea what this is?
On my PC I Did install 7.1 gui and 7.1 Adobe LC Designer but Adobe gives problem with the loading the form itself.  Message is Adobe Livecycle designer encountered problem and need to close.

  • Preview deletes info when saving a pdf form from the IRS

This is driving me CRAZY. I have been working on my tax forms which have all been saved from the internet as a pdf through preview. When I go into the file to update numbers and try to save the file  with the updated information, it won't let me. It will only let me do a "save as". If I do a "save as" and name the file the same as before (replaces original) or if I rename it, the pdf will save, but any data that I did not type in in the most recent session is deleted. So, when I open up my taxes and change a few numbers, the new numbers are saved, but all the rest of my data from before is deleted. It is making me want to scream. It does this repeatedly to different forms saved from the IRS' website and my local state's revenue website and on different days and with a shutdown in between. It isn't the websites, it is preview!
Oh, and just for info, sometimes preview will let me save the data I have updated and I don't lose anything, but then I can make a couple of more changes, go to save and the ability to "update" my current file with "save" isn't highlighted, only the "save as".
This is a brand new macbook pro, only a couple of months old. It has Preview version 5.0.3. I have done all updates that the computer has downloaded.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks,
    Kristie

Preview suck!!! Please for your own sanity use acrobat to edit PDF. Get it from adobe.com

  • How to determine the page count of the front document (pdf-Preview) with applescript?

Hello, I'm a beinnger apple scripter, and I have 2 questions. First, im trying to find the code to generate a page count for the front document of preview. I tried something like this:
choose file with prompt "Count the number of pages in this PDF file:" without invisibles
    do shell script "/usr/bin/mdls -name kMDItemNumberOfPages " & quoted form of POSIX path of result & " | /usr/bin/grep -o '[0-9]\\+$'"
But I dont want to have to choose a file with the prompt, and Im not sure how to get the path or POSIX path of an open pdf that is the front document in prievew to then use that directory to select the file to run the shell script on. This is one step in a much larger sequence of automator/apple script commands for large print jobs.
    The large scale view is:
    1. seleting a group .musx Finale 2014 files and creating pdfs of all the documents
-Achieved with Automator stuff: [Get selected finder items] [open finder items with Finale 2014] [run applescript to convert to pdf all the open files] (which I have working but without a proper repeat condition)
    2. sorting those those exports into even/odd groups
    3. making the even pages 2 up with a create booklet plugin
    3. combinging even/odd group pdfs in their respective folders
    4. sending the 2 up evens to 1 printer, and the singes to another printer.
but at this stage in the code/automator this is what i'll need to be doing:
    1. Several pdf documents will be open and I need to determine the page count of the front document.
    2. With that result I need to determine if the pagecount is even or odd.
    3. If its even, I need to save as pdf in a file folder /desktop/PDF Export/Doubles
         - if its odd, I need to save as pdf pages from 1 to (pageCount -1) to /desktop/PDF Export/Doubles, and pages (pageCount) to (pageCount) to desktop/PDF Export/Singles. (example: A 5 page pdf will send pages 1-4 to folder "Doubles", and pages from 5 to 5 to Singles, A 1 page pdf will only send a copy to the folder "Singles." A 2 page pdf will send both pages to "doubles"
    4. once the even/odd pages have had pdfs made in the either or both of the folders, Im going to close the document and repeat for all other open pdfs.
Which also brings me to my 2nd repeat condition question: how can I repeat (print, save as pdf, close) commands for open files and end the script once all files are closed? This can help me both at this stage, as well the coding stage before in creating the pdfs from open Finale/sibelius .sib/.musx files
would it be something like this?:
    If front document exists
    try
    tell application "preview"
    <bla bla>
    end try
    end tell
At stage 1 of the large scale i've gotten the files to export pdfs and close multiple files, but if i say "repeat 4 times" and i have 3 files it can do those commands but it gets stuck trying to repeat the code one more time. I need the repeat amount x to be the # of items in selection from the the original finder window.
    Thanks for the help!

The following AppleScript will get the POSIX path and filename of the current PDF file. It will just return the integer value for page count. Note: The path retrieved is the actual path to the PDF file, unless it is on the Desktop. In the latter case, the path will be ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Preview/Data/Desktop/filename.pdf.
The script assumes that the following folders exist, otherwise you will need a try block to test for their presence.
The AppleScript dictionary for Preview does not provide a page dictionary entry, that would make a repeat loop and page range possible for saving individual page ranges.
set pdfDoubles to POSIX path of ((path to desktop) & "PDF Export" & Doubles)
set pdfSingles to POSIX path of ((path to desktop) & "PDF Export" & Singles)
    tell application "Preview"
-- gets quoted POSIX path and filename
set pdfFile to (get path of front document)
set pdfName to (get name of front document)
      log pdfName
set cmdArg to "/usr/bin/mdls -name kMDItemNumberOfPages " & pdfFile ¬
                        & " | egrep -o \"(\\d+)\""
set pageCnt to do shell script cmdArg
      display dialog pageCnt
if pageCnt mod 2 is 0 then
      -- even
      -- save pdfName in pdfDoubles
              else
      -- save pdfName in pdfDoubles
-- save individual pages in pdfSingles
              end if
    end tell
