PDF previewer is not installed

Hi guys,
I have a user who has Outlook 2010 installed (running from exchange server) on Win8, who cannot view PDF previews. Acrobat reader XI is installed (and recently acrobat XI pro) and she still cannot view previews, gets the error "PDF previewer is not
installed"
Steps I have taken:
Uninstall/reinstall acrobat reader.
Open reader and accept user license.
Enable previews in the trust center.
So far I have not used the reg edit fix that has been floating around, just because that fix is for the "pdf handler for vista" error, and this user has Win8, not sure if it will fix it.
And ideas or suggestions? I know this topic has been beaten to death but I can't find anything that works.
-Steve

Hi,
Please go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Attachment Handling, click the button "Attachment and Document Previewers" and check if the "PDF Preview Handle" is listed there.
If it's not listed there and you are using a 64-bit Windows, you can try the following steps:
Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. For added protection,
back up the registry before you modify it.
1. Open the Registry Editor.
2. Navigate to the following registry path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\CLSID\{DC6EFB56-9CFA-464D-8880-44885D7DC193}
3. Add a String Value under the key:
Value name: AppID
Value type: REG_SZ
Value: {534A1E02-D58F-44f0-B58B-36CBED287C7C}
Please let me know the result.
Thanks,
Steve Fan

In installation process of Acrobat Professional 7 , its showing that Adobe Pdf printer is not Installed...need help to install the software completely

If it is Win 7 or later, the Adobe PDF printer for AA 7 will not install and AcroTray will not function. You will have to install a PS driver from Adobe or maybe an HP color PS printer driver. Then edit the driver properties and change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to FILE. You will always have to do an extra step in creating PDFs by opening the file that is created in Distiller to get the PDF.
If you are talking about Win 8, you may not be successful at all. If you got Acrobat and Distiller to install, then there is a chance.

  • Again after last patch: Windows 64 - PDF preview handler not working

Adobe's PDF preview handler doesn't work unter Windows XP/Vista/7 64 bit. Because of that PDF preview e.g. in Windows explorer or MS Outlook isn't displaying PDF preview.
This issue has been discussed in this forum some months ago, and this page gives a solution that has helped:
    http://www.pretentiousname.com/adobe_pdf_x64_fix/index.html#fixer
Instead of fixing this well-known issue with the last patch Adobe decided again not to fix. And after installing the patch you have to repair PDF preview handler again...

    Hi Sree,
According to your description, your case related to Adobe PDF Preview Handler. This is third-party product. I am afraid this is out of our support. Please ask in their special forum
    https://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_reader_forums
By the way, after do some search, it seems not working for 64bit machine,
    >> It is working fine in Windows 7 and Vista
Also work fine in win7/vista 64bit????
If your scenario is not working in 64bit machine, try to put "adobe pdf preview handler 64-bit fix" in search engine. Good luck.
    Have a nice day!

  • PDF Preview Handler Not Working in Outlook 2010

I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Outlook 2010.
Everything was working fine, until a few months ago when the PDF Preview Handler stopped working. I got the typical message that others were having with the issue with Adobe Reader 9. I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro and have also used Adobe Reader X. I have tried the little registry fix app that is supposed to fix this issue, but it states that my registry is already correct. Has anyone found a resolution for this issue with Acrobat X and Outlook 2010? As a workaround I am using the Foxit PDF Preview Handler, but I have to reinstall it everytime Adobe Reader or Acrobat is udpated as for some reason Outlook then reverts back to the PDF Preview Handler, which is not working.
    Thanks,
    Merg

Nope, using 32-bit. And I recently uninstalled Acrobat Pro completely and reinstalled it due to an issue with it not updating due to having the "Error Applying Transforms" issue. After I reinstalled, I updated it completely. I suppose I can try uninstalling and reinstalling again, but that seems like overkill.

  • Adobe Reader "Adobe PDF Reader" Addon not installing when Using MSI Installer.

I'm trying to do a silent install of Adobe Reader - and I notice that when I use the EXE installer, with no manual configuration, I have the "Adobe PDF Reader" Addon in Internet Explorer (IE11).
When Installing the MSI - With or without a transform, I do not get the addon. I get a "PDF Link Helper" but no PDF Reader addon. Has anyone experienced this?

    Hi geoffubazi,
The 'Adobe PDF Reader' Addon should install even if you run the .msi file.
Check under the Add on option- 'Run without permission' as shown in the screen shot below and it will list the 'Adobe PDF Reader' Add on

  • Hyperlinks in PDF preview do not work

Hyperlinks in the preview PDF files that people first see when they click a Send link do not work. Can this possibly be fixed? Some users may not want to go through the hassle of downloading the document and want to be able to use the full document from the preview screen.

You have to create one or more Character Styles to populate that menu.
Format some text the way you want your hyperlinks to look, (color, underline, etc.). With your newly formatted text selected, go to the Character Styles panel (if it's not visible, press Shift+F11), and choose New Character Style from the panel menu. Give it a name like "hyperlink" and click OK.
Now, when you create or edit hyperlinked text, your Character Styles menu will include the character style you created, in addition to [None].

  • PDF Preview does not look like original

I'm trying to get a preview of my book for a client. Normally I PDF the file, send it to them and they approve or change the book how they want. The problem is when I pdf my extra large book, some of the files, especially ones I've zoomed in on, are distorted, and look very strange. Many have their heads cut off. But when I pull them up in Aperture, they look just fine. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a solution. My client doesn't live near me and needs to be able to see the final product as close to what will be printed as possible.

I tried changing my settings to the proper page size and still no luck. It's not distorted/cut off for every photo, it's only select photos. In particular, ones that I zoomed in on or modified within Aperture. I can post a link to a jpeg of one of the pages if that would maybe help or I can send you the link to the actual album. • Dropbox PDF Preview - Whites not White

    Hello all,
I've created an inDesign document which showcases many images with an object on a white background. All of the images have a true white background (both RGB and CMYK), and when I look at the inDesign document or the PDF I export to my computer, the images stay white. However, when I upload the PDF to Dropbox and you preview it on the website, some images (only on certain pages) no longer have a white background. It's all of the images on the page, including the Master Page template items. If you download the PDF from Dropbox, however, it's not a problem and all the images appear correctly. Any idea what the problem is? I can't figure out why it would only be on some pages, not all of them.
    Thanks in advance.
PS - I'm using inDesign CS6, I've tried a ton of different export settings and none seem to make a difference. I'm open to trying whatever you suggest!

Yeh - different browsers and applications try to build their own PDF readers and they just don't address all the modules of Adobes PDFs.
You should write a message to Dropbox https://www.google.ie/search?q=dropbox+twitter&oq=dropbox+twitter&aqs=chrome.0.69i57j0l3j6 9i62l2.2474j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
I had a similar issue with an update to Firefox where it wouldn't let me Drag and Drop from the Firefox Library - I wrote to Mozilla on Twitter and it was sorted in a few days.

I have already done a repair of Acrobat 8... how do I get the PDF PReview back? This is absurd!

If you install Acrobat to a directory with a path that contains extended ASCII or double-byte
characters, then English installations will display the error message. Install to a path that does
not contain extended ASCII or double-byte characters.

    a. Right-click the Print Spooler.
    b. Choose Properties.
    c. Choose the General tab.
    d. Choose Automatic in the Startup Type menu.
    e. Click OK.

    OK.
Imporatnt: Remote Procedure Call is a system service and should not be removed.
    6. Temporarily remove associated programs for the listed services.
    7. Contact the service vendor for removal information if removal of associated software does
    not remove the service.
    8. Start Acrobat, and choose Help > Detect And Repair.
To disable all services listed under "The following system components depend on this
    service":
    1. Choose Start > Set

I am having similar problems. After years of successful use, about a year ago, my printer (Epson stylus Photo R300) stopped working. After much investigation, it appears my computer no longer recognizes my printer. I've followed resets, safe boots, uninstalls, reinstalls, etc. This happened so long ago, I don't recall what I was doing when it happened. I'm figuring it happened shortly after a Software Update... So far none of the fixes recommended to me have solved the problem. I've been using Epson customer support, but they've stopped responding. None of their suggestions have seemed to work either.

  • Create PDF not installed

I am upgrading my laptop from Vista to Windows 7, 32 bit.  Because of driver problems I had to do a full install of Windows 7 operating system, and reinstall Acrobat 8.  The Acrobat Create PDF links were not installed in Outlook and Word, and a PDF printer was not installed.  I haven't checked the other applications.  These links were available in Vista and have been installed with another laptop with Windows 7, 64 bit,  installed.  I customized the installation, but only omitted some of the language support.
I have reinstalled Acrobat 8 and restarted the computer.  Any suggestions.

In addition to what Michael said, keep in mind that different versions of Office also require different Acrobat versions/ add-ins. Office 2007 will require Acrobat 9, Office 2010 and above Acrobat X even.

  • What Would Cause Acrobat PDF Toolbar To NOT Be Installed

I have an Acrobat 9 AIP. When I install Acrobat 9 the PDF Toolbar is NOT installed in IE 7 (or 8). Is this a switch in the Customization Wizard? Thank you. - DPW

I'll bet the lightbulb for execution highlighting isn't visable either is it? The problem is that someone turned off debugging for the VI in question. Debugging code does cost a little time so people who typically run their applications in the development system will sometimes turn off debugging. (Building a standalone application forces debugging off automatically).
To be able to probe your routine, right click on the vi's icon in the title bar and select "VI Properties..." and go to the "Execution" catagory and make sure the box labled "Allow Debugging" is checked.
    This should put things right...

  • PDF previews for FBA users

    Hi,
I have an extended web app for FBA users in SharePoint 2013 site. I configured the PDF previews according to following article:
    http://stevemannspath.blogspot.com/2012/10/sharepoint-2013-pdf-preview-in-search.html
it is working but not for FBA users. I opened the extended web app in SharePoint designer and the code explained in step 6 in above article was there. Unable to figure out if there is any additional step for FBA users.
Any help would be really appreciated.

unfortunately, PDF previews will not work for FBA users according to above mentioned method. So, i followed another method explained here
