PDF (print function)

Hi all
I have a question from client
"There seems to be confusion around the PDF function within SAP Business One.
According to legal requirements, when using the PDF icon to u201Cprintu201D an invoice, it is necessary to have the invoice status change to Open u2013 Printed, so as to ensure that next time the invoice will display that it is a Copy of the Tax Invoice. SAP Business One obviously u201Cseesu201D the PDF command as an export function and not a printing function, therefore the status remains open. "
Can anyone clarify this?
Thank you
Jerusha

Hi,
If you print directly from SAP clicking on Print button or Prom PLD print preview, only then SAP changes status of Invoice to be printed.
If you export invoice to PDF and then prints the invoice from PDF - SAP will not change the status of invoice as you are printing from PDF which is correct as printing is done from PDF/
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Neetu

  • PDF Printing Troubleshooting in ApEx 3.0

Hi, I'm trying to implement the PDF Printing functionality that was introduced in ApEx 3.0
I have an ApEx page that produces reports and I want to offer two options: exporting to excel and printing to PDF.
The exporting to excel seems to work fine by Enabling CSV Output under Report Attributes. However, when I try to print PDFs by enabling report printing and choosing the output format as PDF, I get an error. It seems to create a PDF file and when I choose to open it with Adobe 7.0, it says that the file is damaged and could not be repaired. When I enable report printing and choose the output format as HTML, however, it works beautifully.
What could be the problem? Thanks

I had to take all the double quotes out for the pdf to stop giving that error message. Then I had to manually set the column widths for the report to show properly. I didn't play with this much so it may not be the best solution. try select 'a','b','c' from dual and see if that works.

  • How to install just the Adobe 7 Writer PDF printer

In our environment we need to be able to print to PDF, but we also have a 3rd party formcreation software that needs Adobe 8 reader to capture digitized signagtures.
After testing we have found out that we need to have the PDF printer functionality of Writer 7, and the digitized signature capture ability from 8.  Problem is that the 7 install (no matter ther order of installation) take priority over the 8 install and does not let us use 8 to sign the document.
the ideal fix is being able to install just the pdf printer from 7 Writer.
Network is a mixed batch of XP and 7 machines

Nope, still using users HD space and bandwidth. The official June 17th release is still downloading and installing both 32-bit & 64-bit.

  • PDF Printing in NW2004s

    Hello all,
We are on 2004S and I have this question about the PDF funtionality.
We are planning to roll out the BI Web queries with out using the EP. I know that Java Stack must be running on the BI Server.
So, if the JAva stack is running on the server, Can I deliver the PDF print functionality without EP. Is there a default new web template available for 2004s with the "PDF Print" icon on it
    Thanks
    Gova

    Hi Prakash,
There a couple issues with the PDF. We are on SPS 7/ FEP 7
    ISSUES ARE:
    1. <b>The Print web dialogue <b>overrides</b> the printer settings. After exporting the report in PDF, you cannot change the printer setting.</b>
Eg: default paper size for print web dialog : Din A4
    default printer paper size : Letter ( 8.5 X 11")
if you keep the default settings then it will not give the printout.  Becuase in this case it is looking for paper size A4.
<b>2. There is some kind of threshold set for Page limit or Column limit for exporting the report in PDF.</b>
    Eg:
1 of 112 pages -> generates report in PDF
1 of 22 columns-> generates report in PDF
    1 of 112 pages, 1 of 22 columns ->error in generating PDF
1 of 718 pages -> error in generating PDF
It will be good if the thresholds are known.
    Thankyou,

  • Reinstall PDF Print Driver in Mac OS X 10.6.2

I just noticed that my PDF print function no longer works. I believe it happened after I installed Snow Leopard. I reset all my printers and now I need to reinstall it. How do I go about doing that? I have Adobe CS4 which includes Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
    Thanks,
    Grant

I am also having the same problem here.  We recently upgraded from CS 3 to CS 5.5 and now we cannot print to pdf anymore.  We are a small printshop and exporting to PDF is fine when we are creating PDF proofs for customers, however, when printing the jobs on our press you need a PDF with separations and the only way to print color separations is through the "Print to PDF" option.  You do not have the separations option when exporting to PDF.  Is there a different way of selecting separations now or are we just screwed?  Seems like Adobe really dropped the ball on this one and I hope they come up with a fix for this VERY SOON!  Right now this problem is costing us lots of money.

  • Can't create a pdf, or see preview, from print function in Filemaker

I recently bought a 24" imac with 10.5.6 installed. I transferred everything over from my old G5. Everything works well except one function that I really need.
I Filemaker (8.5), in the print function, if I click on "pdf", the "save as pdf" choice doesn't work. Nothing happens. Also the "preview" button doesn't work. Nothing happens.
I can create a pdf from the "save/send records as" function in the FILE menu, but it's a pain.
The "save as pdf" works in all my other programs except Filemaker.
I've deleted the plist file, reinstalled Filemaker, even called Apple. Nobody seems to have an answer.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

As far as the images are concerned, that may be a result of your choice of job settings. You may want to use the Press or Print option if the image quality is important. I assume you are talking about bit images in this case.
As to the hangup, have you checked to see if AcroTray is active on your system? It may not be running as needed. In the meantime, try checking print to file and then opening that file in Distiller to complete the conversion to PDF.
Before you ever try a reinstall, you need to do a repair first to see if that resolves the problem. There are a lot of unknowns about your exact process for the printing and your job settings that may be part of the problem. The rest of your system setup is useful in some cases, but did not help me see your problem.

  • Cannot print with a Samsung ML2160 printer (mono laser) and Pages. Print function doesn't work, only drag and drop in printer's queue

    Hello,
I just purchased a Samsung ML2160 printer and it doesn't work with nor my Pages program, nor the Preview (to print PDF). No matter the way I tried, the Print function doesn't work and I cannot neither print or even enter the printer preferrences menu! My MacBook Pro has worked before with other printers, but now with the Samsung it doesn't work at all... Though, if I drag and drop a document, jpg, pdf in the printer queue, it prints just fine, but that method gives me absolutely no freedom to the printing... Could it be something from the Computer -> Machintosh HD -> Library -> Printers? Because a friend of mine was recently trying to save me some disk space, and therefore erasing part of the HP printer (to remove the previous printer I owned)...
If anyone has any idea, that would be much appreciated
    Thank you in advance

Do the sensible thing, as you say neither Preview nor Pages print, try other programs eg TextEdit. If none of them print then it is a System problem and very likely the printer drivers are AWOL or were never installed.
Go to Samsung's website and download their software for the Mac:

  • Problem with pdf-printing in Adobe Acrobat Pro

    Hi,
I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.3.
PDF-printing has always worked great but suddenly there is some kind of problem.
After printing a excel-document from "Print to pdf" built-in function in MacOS OR Adobes Printer I have corruptet pdf-files when showing them in Adobe Reader/Acrobat, but the MacOS Preview-software shows them correct.
So, there cannot be any problem with the printing, but the local preview on my computer using Reader or Acrobat. I dont even use the Myriad font in the document, I use Verdana.

You say you're using Verdana but you're not. The error message clearly shows you're using MyriadPro Bold.
You probably recently installed the Mac OS X 10.6.7 update which has a bug with OpenType PostScript fonts like MyriadPro Bold. Either use Verdana or another TrueType or PostScript font, or revert to Mac OS X 10.6.6.

  • Why does my Acrobat Pro 9 PDF print driver either lock up or become confused as to where it should store a file when printing a document from within the Firefox browser?

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 for creating .pdf files on a Windows XP SP3 platform. Firefox 6.0.2 is my browser of choice. This question only applies to the .pdf printing process. All other printer drivers work fine with this version of Firefox.
In attempt to save paper, I choose to print most documents in an electronic .pdf format using the PDF print driver and save them to my USB drive. Before upgrading my Firefox version to 6.0.2 this process seemed to work fine but after upgrading the .pdf print process seems to be experiencing problems. This particular printing process will cause Firefox to lock up when the distiller tries to print the file to what I believe is a temporary folder under the Adobe folder. When it does this I am sometimes able to force it to complete the process but frequently it will only produce a log not a .pdf file. On other occasions the distiller will just lock up mid print without producing any kind of error message. In both cases I will frequently have to use Windows Task Manager to break out of the process which then shuts down the Firefox browser. I don't seem to have any problems when I use Internet Explorer to perform the same function. As far as I am aware I am running the most current drivers as Adobe automatically pushes down updates to me as they become available. Any ideas how I can overcome this issue or is it inherent to the new version of Firefox?

The PDF file itself does not control the "print as image" preference, which should always be turned OFF unless there's a specific need to rasterize the entire page, and is turned off by default in all Acrobat and Adobe Reader installations.
What's the filetype for the ultralight font and what export setting* are you using in ID? If you're exporting to earlier than PDF1.7, OpenType fonts will be converted and may experience some small changes in shape if their hint definitions aren't done right.
*As a side note, bear in mind that InDesign does not use any part of Acrobat when exporting PDFs, so questions specific to that stage in the process should be posted to the InDesign forums.

  • PDF Size jumps when printing to Adobe PDF printer redirected vs. locally installed

I have a Server 2008 R2 setup to run Sage Peachtree as a RemoteApp.  RemoteApp is configured to pass local drives and printers through to the server for end user ease.  When you print an invoice (or any file from Peachtree) to the Adobe Acrobat
X "Adobe PDF" printer that has been redirected, a single page pdf will save at about 1.1mb.  If I print the exact same invoice to a local install of Adobe Acrobat X "Adobe PDF" printer on the Server 2008 R2 install, it will save to
about 8kb (which is the expected size for a single page pdf of lines and txt).
If you then try and print the 1.1mb pdf file to a normal HP printer PS (postscript) driver, it will expand in the print spooler several magnitudes to about 10-15mb, giving the impression that it sees the pdf data as an image instead of txt.
My guess is that the data being sent over the remote desktop connection to the redirected "Adobe PDF" printer is coming out of the pipe in a form that Adobe can only interpret as a graphic and thus compresses it as though it was one.
Anyone have any ideas on how to the local printer and the redirected printers to receive the same type of data and thus create pdf files of similiar size?

I suspected as much.  I was hopeful it was something like a setting that needed to be changed or a reg hack that needed a bit changed from 0 to 1 to make the printing work as expected.  I only installed the local printer to see if the RDP session
tunnel was in fact causing the print size to balloon so I will continue to instruct users to use that instead of the local redirected printer.  I am disappointed but not surprised.
    Edit:
Additionally I have tested the functionality of setting the GPO settings for Easy Print to use the redirected printer's drivers instead of the ones used by easy print, by setting “Computer
Configuration -> Administrative templates -Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host -> Printer Redirection”.
    to “Disabled” but
with no luck.  In fact the printer received the proper Adobe PDF driver, but the job went out into print spool hell and was lost to the ether.  I have concluded that this approach will not bear any fruit.

  • Disable Purchase Order (PO) PDF Print button

    Hi,
    We are using SRM 550.
When a user views/changes a PO in the browser they can use the Preview Purchase Order button to view the PO as a PDF  document.
This is OK, but we want to disable users from printing the form using the Adobe PDF  print button as there is no print log recorded for this action and so the audit trail is compromised.
I have heard that this can be disabled by SAP when the PDF  is generated does anyone know how this is acheived.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Allen
field control you can do either via below badi or templates.
    BBP_UI_CONTROL_BADI BAdI
BBP_PO_UI_CTRL - field control in Purchase order
you must control the output preview button to disable . if you still finding problem then only this note is applicable . got it.
You do not want to provide the output preview button in the purchase order using the BBP_UI_CONTROL_BADI BAdI, however, this appears as soon as you go to the output area in the header data of the purchase order. However, the button no longer has the label "Output preview", instead it just has the label "Preview".
This problem is caused by a program error: The display area contains a hidden "preview" button (the button is invisible but nevertheless it exists in the GUI) (Function group BBP_OUTPUT, screen 1100). This has the same name as the button for the "output preview" that exists separately in the button area of the purchase order (Function group BBP_PO_UI_ITS screen 2200). In the described case, the data of the output button is used for the purchase order button.
    Solution
This note ensures that the output button does not exist (that is, not even in the GUI) if a calling application (in this case, purchase order) requires the generic output screen using the BBPS_OUTPUT_PUT_PBO function module without the preview button (IV_WITH_PREVIEW = ' '). Therefore, the data of the output button cannot be used for the purchase order button. This correction is available with Support Package 04 (SAPKIBKT04). For an advance correction, use Transaction SNOTE to implement the correction instructions attached to this note.

  • AcroPDF ActiveX print functions are not working with Adobe Reader 9.2 / Actobat Reader 9.3

AcroPDF ActiveX print functions are not working with Reader 9.2/9.3. Tried ActiveX print functions like printPages(), printAll(), printWithDialog(), none of them is working. Tried on platforms: XP 32 bit and Win7 32 bit. These print functions all work fine with Adobe Reader 9.1.0. or 8.2.0 or 8.1.0 on XP 32 bit or Win7 32 bit.
The way I have my setup: I have created a C/C++ project with AcroPDF MFC ActiveX classes. I have created an AcroPDF object in there, and then calling it's LoadFile() function passing a pdf file in the parameter. Then calling the printPages() or printAll() function. With Adobe Reader 9.1.0. or 8.2.0 or 8.1.0, printing is starting through the default printer without any problem. As soon as I update the reader version to 9.2 or more, the same code stops working.
Is anybody noticing any similar issue? Any info on this will be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Unfortunately printWithDialog() is also not working. Actually none of the print functions like Print(), printWithDialog(), printPages(), printPagesFit(), printAll(), printAllFit() are working. All of them works fine though with older reader.
BTW, what security related changes are there for printPages() and printAll()? Can you please elaborate on that? Is there any workaround?
