PDF printer feature

My version 7 standard was just retored to a new computer but the PDF printer feature would not load. Any ideas?

I am assuming you are using Win7, possibly the 64-bit version. If the latter, you may be totally out of luck with AA7. It might be possible to run it as the 32-bit process that it is. You may also have to set a compatibility mode. In 32-bit windows, the Adobe PDF printer should appear in the printer list, but it may fail. If it fails, it is due to AcroTray not being compatible with Win7.
So giving some more information about your new OS and such might help us help you. The answer may be to simply upgrade while you still qualify (AA7 qualifies for the upgrade price to AA X).

  • Pdf printing of an image stored in database?

    Hi,
I am using pdf printing option, but stuck in a case where I need to retrieve a image from the database table stored as a blob content.
Is it possible to create a report review of this sort?
    Is this even possible?

    Yes, absolutely.

  • PDF printing in the Builder

I haven't yet installed APEX 3.0 in my own environment, but I was just curious about something.
I see that almost all the report regions in the APEX development environment itself (the Builder app) have a new "Print" link that launches a PDF version of the report.
Since the PDF printing feature requires a BI Publisher installation, would the APEX 3.0 installation automatically install that product? Or would those links be hidden if PDF printing is not properly configured? After I install BI Publisher or Apache XSL-FO, would those Print links magically appear?
    Thanks

There could be any number of reasons, based on the information provided, it's hard to diagnose what exactly went wrong with the installation. Please check the forum for a situation that applies to your case. Given your file name 'Calificaciones.pdf' I take it you're not running this in English, so one possible issue could be the default paper size A4, and the issue we found with decimal separators. If not running this in English, please go to the print attributes page and check your page size. Change the units to "Points" and make sure you have whole numbers for page width and height. Should this be the issue, please use this work-around in other cases as well. We'll provide a patch to fix this soon.

  • Print to PDF; Print to Compressed PDF; Print to Web Receipts menu, MISSING

I have been trying for several days now to restore printer prefs for a HP Officejet 7410.
Under Mac OS 10.5, and after reinstalling HP software and drivers from www.hp.com, the drop down menu for PDF option is missing entirely! As a work around... have tried 'file > save as', then choose pdf option. (This option only works in a very limited number of programs! I have gotten accustomed to 'printing to pdf' for archiving and password protecting key docs, and emails, et al; and therefore would like to regain this essential feature.
Question is, are others having this same problem with other printers, or have I missed some critical step in setting up my printer? (I already deleted all printers , then created a new printer profile from the print&fax menu under system preferences).
Any thoughts or useful observations, are Greatly Appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Geoff

    John.
    +Thanks for reply.+
Re: +What steps have you taken to restore printer prefs?+
Originally installed Leopard (OS 10.5) using the *'UPGRADE to MAC OS'* selection.
Went to system preferences > deleted all printers. Clicked "+" button to add HP 7400 Series printer via bonjour. Added other virtual printers (FaxSTF). HP 7410 Printer dialog box was still missing "print to PDF" feature, and other features, so downloaded and installed current software and drivers for HP Officejet 7410. Again deleted all printers from 'Print & Fax' dialog box of System Preferences. Added printers Officejet 7400 Series ; and Officejet 7400 Series FAX.
Still have no "print to pdf" functions; can not use HP color rendering technology, only colorsync is available. Control over ink density, color temperature, and other previous print dialog choices are all MISSING IN ACTION.
I have rebooted from a cloned external HD using prior OS (10.4.10) all printer features function properly. So have concluded that Leopard is not 'prime-time' ready as far as many third party printers. Don't know when either HP will update it's drivers, or when Apple will create a update for devise drivers. Imagine there'll be some finger pointing for source of problem between HP & Apple. Guess will be returning to OS 10.4.10 until these bugs are ironed out.
If you have any other thoughts or suggestions, please drop me a note.
    Thanks,
    Geoff

  • Adobe PDF Printer (Acrobat Pro 9.3.2) causes Print Spooler crash on Windows 7 64-bit

We have recently upgraded our office to Windows 7 64-bit. This upgrade has been very smooth with the exception of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. We are running Acrobat 9.3.2, I know there are a couple of additional updates available but they do not fix this issue if installed.
The problem occurs when users create documents using the Adobe PDF printer. The Print Spooler will crash, causing the application they are printing from to stop responding and they are forced to close the program. From this point onwards the user will be unable to print to any printer whatsoever, until they restart their computer. Stopping and starting the print spooler (clearing temp files as well) sometimes corrects the issue, but by the time they have found an admin to do this they may as well just restart.
I should note that this problem is not very consistent. It occurs sometimes after one PDF has been created, sometimes after they have created many PDFs, and sometimes not at all. It doesn't seem to matter which application they create the PDF from either. It's very irritating because I can't pin it down to anything in particular.
I've Googled a lot around this subject and I can see that I am not the only one with this issue, however there don't seem to be any solutions out there. This issue is widespread across our organisation and I would greatly appreciate any constructive suggestions on finding a resolution.
    Many thanks, Steve.

Several months ago, I started working on this issue and thought that I had it resolved by uninstalling the "Internet Printing Client" from "Windows Features" (Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > expand Print and Document Services > uncheck Internet Printing Client). This change seemed to help at the time, as I was then unable to reproduce the issue and the end-user was unable to reproduce the issue for two weeks after (thus I closed the help desk case). But now it looks like the issue is back. Maybe the above setting will help someone else, but I'm now looking for a permanent fix.
PS: I have instructed our users on the "Save as PDF" option provided in Office 2010, but I don't think that is used all the time, and the PDF printer is there only option in other applications (IE for example).
Anybody had this issue and found a fix?
    Thanks,
    Justin

  • Quark / PDF Printing Problems (Save as PDF in OS X)

I upgraded from Quark 4.1 to 6.5 about a year ago, and ever since then the files I create and print don't look as good. The primary issue seems to be color -- colors don't come out as deep, there seems to be less color saturation, sometimes colors are just pretty far off. I'm working in Mac OS 10.4.8.
For many years my method has been to design documents and output as PDFs to be professionally printed. These days my PDFs don't print as well. I suspect that the problem has to do with the process of creating the PDF. In Quark 6.5 I create PDFs by selecting "Save as PDF" from Quark's Print menu. Back when I was using 4.1, since Quark didn't have a built-in PDF-creator, I would go into the Chooser, select AdobePS as my printer, and then just choose Print in Quark and it would "print" to a PDF.
One other problem I've had since the upgrade is that the PDFs Quark creates are HUGE files -- tens or hundreds of megs -- often too large to email. When I used to create PDFs from the identical Quark files using 4.1, the resulting PDFs printed much better and were much smaller files (often far less than 1 meg). Solving the color problem is a higher priority for me than solving the file size issue, though.
I've spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot this with our local printer here in Albany, NY (the same guy who printed my stuff in the old days, when it came out looking a lot better). Things we've tried that haven't seemed to solve the problem:
    - Increasing the LPI to 300
    - Checking the box for Full Resolution Tiff Output
    - Experimenting with OPI active and not
    - Experimenting with different PDF options like "Save as PDF," "Compress PDF," "PDF-X," etc. (Compress PDF does result in smaller PDFs, but the quality of the resulting prints is even worse)
Also, if anyone has suggestions about Quark-specific forums I could post this to, let me know. I tried creating an account on the discussion forms on Quark's website, but I don't receive their confirmation email to confirm my account.
Any advice greatly appreciated -- thanks so much!

    Marshall,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
colin clarke1’s info is spot on. I will add a bit more. Acrobat Professional includes Distiller in addition to a print driver called Adobe PDF 7.0 (version number matches version of Acrobat). I think the print driver installs automatically, but if not, you should choose to install it and then it will show in your list of printers. This will allow you to make PDFs from Quark XPress much as you did with Quark 4.1.
Distiller comes with some pre-defined Settings (formerly know as Job Options) for different types of printing, i.e., Smallest file (low-resolution like online viewing), Standard, High Quality, Press Quality and others. These Settings are general standards in the industry in terms amount and type of image compression, font embedding, color management, compatibility with previous Acrobat versions and etc.
colin clarke1’s method of saving a Quark doc as a PostScript and then distilling it is one method. (You can set this in your Quark Preferences.) Alternatively, you could do the following within Quark XPress…
    (a) Select Print, which brings up the Print window. At the bottom of the window are some buttons. Click on Page Setup and in its window, for Format for: select the Adobe PDF 7/8, the appropriate Paper size and then OK.
    (b) Returning to the Quark print window, make all the necessary choices for Layout, Setup, Output, Options, Layers, Bleed, OPI and Profiles.
    (c) Next, click on the button Printer (at the bottom) which brings up a Mac OS print window. Click to the right of Printer and select Adobe PDF 7/8. Next, click and hold on Copies & Pages for a drop-down list of options and select PDF Options. Click on the bar to the right of Adobe PDF Settings and a list of Distiller Settings will pop up and select the one that best fit the type of printing you are doing, e.g., Press Quality. If you want to see the PDF version afterwards, then select Acrobat for After PDF Creation. Click Ok.
    (d) Returning to the Quark print window, click Print button (lower right). A Save window appears for you to name your document and select where you wish to save in on your computer. (If you choose to see the PDF afterwards, then Acobat will launch and the PDF will then appear in Acrobat.)
You could learn more about the latest version of Acrobat 8.0 (released November 2006) by Adobe’s “tour” at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/productinfo/features/
    Hope this helps.

  • Acrobat X Pro v10.1.9: Cannot print to Adobe PDF Printer (access is denied)

    Hello.
Suddenly I was not able to print Office 2013 files / Autocad files / Internet Explorer pages directly to Adobe PDF Printer anymore on my WINDOWS 7 Ultimate x64 sp1 computer.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat X Pro, but the issue was not resolved.
Neither after updating to the latest version (10.1.9).
When I try to print from any software (Office 2013 / AutoCAD 2012 / Others), are displayed two windows:
    a) the first one named "Printing (not responding)", with the information: "now printing the file..."
    b) the second one named "Save PDF File As", to where I do not have access to the filename fied to insert it neither to click the "cancel" button to abort the print dialog. It seems that this window is not active.
I have to click on the red "X" button on the first window to shutdown the application. Here is the error dialog I got:

When I try to print a webpage in Internet Explorer using the same printer, I get an "Adobe PDF" window stating "Access is denied".
Can anyone help me restoring this feature?

The reinstall is typically the last ditch effort to do. The first step is Help>Repair and Help>Updates. As far as Office 2013, the PDF Maker of AA X is not compatible and you can only print. In your list of errors it showed a problem with AcroTray.exe. As a first step, go to the print and select print-to-file. The file will be a PS file (maybe with a PRN extension). Once the printer if finished, open the file in Distiller to complete the process. If that is successful, then the problem is with AcroTray. Check your running tasks to be sure AcroTray is indeed running. If not, that is likely the problem. If it is, then restart it (it is located in the Acrobat folder). AcroTray provides the interface between the PS creation and Distiller to automate the process of creating the PDF.

  • Install Just Adobe Pdf Printer 9.0. I already have acrobat 9 pro configured

I just installed acrobat 9 pro but declined to install the adobe Pdf printer 9 when the installer asked.
I now find I will need Adobe Pdf printer 9.0.
How can I install just this Adobe printer from the DVD?
I cannot access any custom install features from the dvd as this is a braindead drag and drop into the applications folder type of installer.

I found this and it worked.

  • Sharing PDF Printer Security Settings

    Hi
We are rolling out Acrobat Pro XI to a group of people; we want all pdfs to be created with the same security settings.  I've created a security policy with the required settings (no ability to print, copy contents etc) and it shows up as the required DSA_Security policy within the Tools-Protection menu.  I believe I can copy that to all the machines so everyone has access to it.
My question is can I do the same with the PDF Printer, so if someone choses print - adobe pdf is it possible to have this security policy appear in the drop down list of the security setting in the print settings?  At the min all I see is Reconfirm security for each job or use last configuration.
I'd like to cover all areas so people can create their pdfs anyway they prefer.  Appreciate any pointers in the right direction.
    Thanks
    gR

The assumption is that you are using a certificate to limit the access to the features of the PDF file?  Or are you trying to take the registry settings?
    If it's using certificates then....
Do you want them to use/sign with the certificate or just be able to "trust" and validate it?
    - If it's the former then you need to export it via the Certificate Viewer and the users will need to have the password.
    - If it's the latter then you need to export it via the Digital ID and and Trusted Certificate Settings "Export" button.
Test both scenarios thoroughly before doing either operation and make sure it's REALLY what you want to do.
If it's the using registry settings then you will need to use something like RegShot to find the registry settings that you want then populate them across other machines with a reg file.

  • Acrobat 6.0 and Windows 7 - is there a PDF printer driver available?

    Hi,
I have been using Acrobat 6.0 with Windows XP fine. However, I just got a new computer that has Windows 7.
I installed Acrobat 6.0 but cannot now convert any documents to PDF on this new computer. I get this error--
"The PDF maker cannot find the Adobe PDF printer driver and to reinstall Adobe Acrobat 6.0"
However, reinstalling Acrobat 6.0 does not help, nor does the repair feature.
Is There a patch for this product? Can I download a driver for the PDF printer so that it is compatible with Windows 7?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have Acrobat 6 as well and just upgraded to windows 7. Can't afford Acrobat Version 9 either. From what I understand, only Windows 7 PROFESSIONAL, ULTIMATE or ENTERPRISE editions can you run most Windows XP productivity programs in Windows XP Mode(separate download). At least that's what I read here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/windows-xp-modeI wonder if that will help you. I unfortunately only have STARTER edition.
*The following text is copied and pasted from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/windows-xp-mode
Windows 7 Feature has a Windows XP Mode
It's the best of both worlds: The new Windows XP Mode lets you run older Windows XP business software right on your Windows 7 desktop.
Designed primarily with small- and medium-sized businesses in mind, Windows XP Mode comes as a separate download and works only with Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise. Windows XPMode also requires virtualization software such as WindowsVirtual PC. Both are available free on the Microsoft website.
To download Windows XP Mode or learn about its system requirements, visit the Windows Virtual PCwebsite.
Windows XP Mode, available for the Professional and Ultimate editions of Windows 7, helps prevent older business programs from becoming obsolete.

  • 10.6.3, Acrobat 9.3.2 Pro update broke my PDF printer how to

    Hi,
I updated my CS4 Acrobat Pro to 9.3.2 and now my Acrobat Printer errors in the Que when I FIle> Print and select my Adobe PDF Printer.
I deleted the Acrobat Printer from my Print & Fax control panel.
Now I can't figure how to Add my Acrobat printer back.
    Is 9.3.2 broken?
I use this all the time, but now it's broke

    I just found this article
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html
The Adobe PDF Printer is not available or is unusable in Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6). This situation is due to security features in Snow Leopard that disable the Adobe PDF Printer. Adobe Acrobat 9.1 Pro removes the Adobe PDF Printer and adds a new Save As Adobe PDF command. Customers using earlier versions of Adobe Acrobat in Snow Leopard cannot use the Adobe PDF Printer.
    SOLUTION
To add and use the Save As Adobe PDF command:
If you are using Acrobat 9 Pro, update to Acrobat 9.1 Pro. The Updater removes the Adobe PDF Printer from the Printer list and adds the Save As Adobe PDF command to the PDF menu.
In the PDF menu, choose Save As Adobe PDF, and follow the onscreen instructions.
To remove the Adobe PDF Printer manually:
If you upgrade from Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) to Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6), the Adobe PDF Printer is not removed
    Choose Apple > System Preferences.
Open the Print & Fax preference panel.
Select the Printing tab to see the printers list.
    Select Adobe PDF 9.0.
    Click the minus (-) button.
The Save As Adobe PDF command appears in the PDF menu.

  • I can not print an PDF using the Adobe PDF-Printer with Acrobat DC

    Hi all,
i installed the Trial of Acrobat DC but it dont let me use the Adobe PDF-Printer well, because i cannot print from any third-party-application using Adobe PDF.
I tryed to print from within Word, Editor and Browser and selected the Adobe PDF-Printer as target, but at 75% both, the Application from which i print and the PDF-Creating-Wizzard are freezing (for hours) and i need to kill the procesed. No PDF-File is created. Same Problem with trying to print a Testfile from within the Windows-Printer-Dialogs.
Only Adobe DC cause this issue, if i use freeware like Bullzip PDF the files get created successfully, so i assume its not a generally problem with PDF on my system.
What could be the problem? (pls dont say its because of the trial, a trail should allow to test all features and Why should i buy a programm if it cannot do what a freeware can do?)

    Hey Daniel,
Have you tried repair Adobe Acrobat DC?
If no, then please repair the installation under Help menu.
This could also happen due to an Adobe Acrobat DC installation file corruption. To resolve this issue :-
Uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC using the Acrobat cleaner utility.
    Restart your computer.
Re-install Acrobat Acrobat DC  Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC.
Let me know if the issue persist.

  • Desktop PDF printer in online trial version?

The Create Adobe PDF Online signup page says you can add a desktop PDF printer option with the subscription to online PDF creation.  Does this option work with the trial version?  If so, how?

    Hi there,
Thanks for your post. Acrobat.com allows you to convert multiple files to PDF online, but unfortunately does not include a corollary desktop feature. We hope to see this feature in a future release, but for now Acrobat desktop software is the thing to use for desktop PDF creation.
    Thanks again! Take care.

  • Adobe PDF printer stopped working

    Hello!
    Windows XP Pro
    Acrobat Standard 8.1.3
    Office XP
    InDesign CS3
Problem with Adobe PDF printer. It used to work fine, but it stopped working last week, whatever application I use to print. The "PDF Creation" window appears, the process seems to start, but suddenly stops in the middle, with with the word "stopped" in the progress box. I tried the repair feature of Acrobat, with no change, then completely uninstalled Acrobat (and deleted the Acrobat 8 folder), but again no luck...
Any hint as to what I can do to fix this?
    Thanks in advance
    François

I just did the following, in sequence:
I printed-to-file a document to Adobe PDF printer from Word, and opened the resulting .prn file. The conversion worked. In Distiller, I get this:
    Source : extendedloan.prn
    Destination : I:\Texte\extendedloan.pdf
    Options Adobe PDF : H:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\Standard.joboptions
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
    %%[Page: 1]%%
    %%[Page: 2]%%
    %%[Page: 3]%%
    %%[Page: 4]%%
    %%[LastPage]%%
    Durée de conversion : 00 heure(s) : 00 minute(s) : 04.750 seconde(s)
    **** Fin du travail ****
I then tried to print the document (.doc) from Word to Adobe PDF Printer, and got this in Distiller:
    Adobe PostScript :3016.102
    CID support library initialization completed.
    Error in PDFX4 2007.joboptions:
    /CheckCompliance out of range
I then tried to print a test file from Printer Properties, and got this from Distiller:
    Adobe PostScript :3016.102
    CID support library initialization completed.
    Error in PDFX4 2007.joboptions:
    /CheckCompliance out of range
Thank you guys for trying to help,
    François

  • PDF printing and APEX Listener.

    Hi,
I noticed in the Application Express statement of direction, dated February 2, 2010, the section regarding the Application Express Listener stated "improved PDF printing". I construed (possibly misconstrued) this to mean the APEX Listener might include its own FOP processor, thus simplifying the setup and use of simple PDF printing in APEX.
As I can't find any mention of PDF printing in the Listener Installation Guide, I was wondering if this was a misinterpretation on my part or has this functionality simply not been implemented? If it has not been implemented, are there plans to do so in a later release?
    Regards
    Andre

This feature slipped out for this release. We will revisit for a future version.
