Pdf printing gets a black screen, and unable to save
When saving a pdf (saving as), I get a message "unable to save as ...", when printing, it print all black pages...
The file is OK, as I am able to perform both operations from IE running in parallel...
Hi..
Open the Finder. From your Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Click Go
Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin (or just PDF Browser plugin) to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.

I use Safari as my browser. When on a site and I click on a PDF file I get a black screen and a notice that "Adobe Reader blocked for this website". However, this does not happen if I use Firefox.
Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 3 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari. -

All my downloaded (digital copies from dvds) won't play in itunes. I get a black screen and no sound, but the time keeps moving. How do i fix this?

I am running Mavericks on my MacAir. I developed a powerpoint presentaiton on my PC and transferred it to my Mac. In powerpoint on my MacAir, when I go to full screen, I get a black screen and then power point crashes. I am running the latest version of powerpoint 14.0. Can you help?

When I try to download software from the internet I only get a black screen and nothing downloads. I attempted mozilla firefox and software from a photobook site just to name a couple.
How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space. -
Pro won't start. Instead get a black screen and a beeping every 2 seconds. Light at front right corner of keyboard flashes in sequence with beeping.
If it is giving a single beep every two seconds, then it is not seeing any of the memory. You could try taking the back off, remove the memory module and reinsert to see if that corrects the problem. Or just take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs do that for you.

Newest version of firefox, and flash. Tried clearing cache. Been having this problem for a year or more.
No mater what I do, if I open a youtube video in firefox, my pc crashes. Black screen and I have to hit the manual reset button. No error report to send, no idea why this happens. It does not do it when using chrome.
Really irritating and going to cause me to give up on using firefox if I cannot find a solution soon.You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Can you check the Windows event log to see if that gives any clues about the Windows crashes if you get a BSOD? -
How do I bring up iPhoto after it seemed to crash while I was using it? All I get now is a black screen with a circle of rotating bars. I have closed it, and restarted after putting the machine to sleep and after shutting it off altogether; no luck. Everything else is working fine.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

20" imac gets random black screen and wont wake up.
O.K. this imac randomly goes to a black screen while your using it. It looks like it's asleep accept the light in the front doesn't pulse and it wont wake up.
If I hit the power button to put it to sleep I can then wake it up.
I tried resetting the SMU but have had no luck (not sure if it's even resetting seeing the date and time are still good) not sure why seeing resetting the SMU is a very simple processes.
It's a 20" intel imac 2GHz duo with system 10.4.11 (early 2006)
I was going to reinstall 10.4.11 to see if that helps and wanted to see if anyone else knows what to do. Its very random and seems to be getting worse, sometimes as soon as I get it fixed it goes black again. It usually only takes 15-30min after start up and doesn't matter if your using it or not.Hi all,

Tried all I could think of and then took it to an Apple Dealer here in Hamburg.
Turned it was the Power Supply Unit (both of them) and a repair (out of Applecare obviously) would have been in the range of about 500 Euros (material plus manhours).
So I decided to not get it repaired.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there? -

When I try to download something, I get a black screen, and can't download ANYTHING.
I tried to download a program from the internet using Firefox, and it gets to the .exe screen, goes black, and doesn't actually start the download....anyone know why?
The Adobe Add On is causing the problem. I have Adobe Reader on my system, so this solution allows me to use this fix:
1. Open Firefox.
2. Go to TOOLS.
3. Go to ADD-ONS.
4. Select the PLUGINGS icon at the top.
5. Disable the ADOBE ACROBAT plugin.
6. Close ADDONS windown.
7. Select PDF link; Firefox should download and allow Adobe Reader to open for you (no longer opens in Firefox).
