Pdf printing in Elements 7

Adobe X will not print (pdf) from within Elements 7. It did in my old XP machine. I just switched to a W7 machine and it prints a blank page from any .extension.  It does work from within Adobe X but I have to save the Elements file then go get it with X.

You can Print any images or Text elements included in the export template. The option to add this to the header will only supported with SP 14.
See attached document for release info.

Why won't my printer (Brother HL2270DW) print out Elements bi-monthly magazine.  Screen says either printed not connected (not true) or PDF not supported of shows a blank document.  No problems printing on any other website.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • PDFs created by Adobe PDF print device do not display correctly in Illustrator

I generated a PDF from a PowerPoint file by printing to the Adobe PDF printer device. This step works correctly as the PDF appears normal in Acrobat. However, upon opening the PDF in Illustrator, none of the graphic (bitmap) elements are rendered correctly -- they appear as gray boxes with remnants of the correct image remaining as a single pixel border around the edge. This is clearly an error in the PDF importing in Illustrator. Any work-arounds or suggestions?

Update: OK, so it has something to do with whether an image in PPT was "cropped" before conversion to PDF, as an uncropped version of the same graphic is rendered accurately in Illustrator after conversion to and from PDF. For my part, I'm just going to recopy the images directly into Illustrator, but perhaps this might help someone else dealing with the same problem.

I understand this is no help, but Illustrator is not a pdf editor. This is why you can get unexpected results when importing a pdf in Illustrator.
If you really need to edit a pdf you could use Acrobat or Neo, and there are some more out there, just look around on the net:

  • PDF printing "Internal display" settings 'default'

    Hi All,
I'm having problems PDF printing web applications made in WAD 7.0.
We have created a button triggering the EXPORT command and left everything set to 'default'.
Internal display = 'default', Data binding = 'default'.
All our 7.0 web templates contain text elements (title, etc.), an INFO_FIELD_ITEM block (with tray), a FILTER_PANE_ITEM (with tray), CONDITIONS_LIST_ITEM (with tray), EXCEPTIONS_LIST_ITEM (with tray) and one or more ANALYSIS_ITEM and CHART_ITEM (all with tray).
Everything except the FILTER_PANE_ITEM end up in the PDF, however not all present the tray. Only the conditions and exceptions have a tray in the PDF. Since the tray contains the name of what the it represents underneath, especially the analysis and chart item need to have the tray displayed.
How can I switch this on generically (not for each report individually)?
I don't know which Internal Display webtemplate is chosen when it's set to 'default'. It's not 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN_EXPORT, because if I set the Internal Display to 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN_EXPORT, my output changes completely (and not for the better).
Can I find the 'default' Internal Display somewhere in the system? SPRO? I'd like to adjust the default value to always display a tray.
    Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eduard

Thanks Arun, but Excel export is not the issue.
All the info fields (title, user, date, webtemplate name, etc.) we can print and that's all fine. But... We need the tray of the ANALYSIS_ITEM and CHART_ITEM to be visible. The tray contains the name of the query (DP1, DP2, etc.) and we'd like to see it.
Now, if a webtemplate has more than one chart, the PDF will not tell you which chart is which. The title of the tray is automatically filled in the WAD (with the query name) and we don't want to manually add titles to all chart and graph items. We'd have to do this for all webtemplates, which should be necessary.
Besides, the conditions and exceptions items dó show a tray. Why not for the ANALYSIS_ITEM and CHART_ITEM?
So basically, what I'd like to know is: Where I can find which "Internal Display" webtemplate is used as 'default' and how I can edit it? I know that it isn't 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN_EXPORT, so which one is it then?

  • PDF Printing and preserving Control Breaks

I'm testing PDF printing with apache FOP. it works, but I've searched on here and am not finding a solution to preserve control breaks. Is there an easy way to set this up? I'm trying to replace reports with Apex, and one of my developer. we wrote these custom reports, that work very nicely, but are tedious... user has ability to control break, etc. I can achieve all this from interactive reports, but printing is the problem.
My thought if I can do this, is to generate the report on a printer friendly page, and just print from there.
    any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Scott

I am having trouble, too, getting PDF reporting to users in a way that they're satisfied with.
    1. Example of vanilla PDF without BI publisher.
    https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B5IT1IH9Rb7NNzM2MjgyODQtOTEzMC00NDJiLTg4MzgtOTExYmQ2OTJlODA1&hl=en&authkey=CNKg9bkD
I have not found a way to change the margins or other column settings. So the reports will have minimal utility for our users, who are auditors and who like to save their analyses.
I welcom help on how to use and override the Print Attributes > Page Attributes settings for PDF? Paper Size , Orientation, and width/height seem to work, but have no impact on the actual body printing. E.g. setting tabloid landscape 17x11 " works, but the report is still the same size as with letter landscape 11x8.5 setting. There's no way to set the margin.
    2. Example of my best work around. Here, the user prints from browser - Google Chrome - to PDF. I use free Windows PDF utility Bullzip PDF Printer. The same look and feel goes to a physical paper printer.
    https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B5IT1IH9Rb7NMDBhM2NiOTEtZmUwOC00NDY2LWFmOGYtYjJiMTVkZjgyZmQy&hl=en&authkey=CPm818sC
Chrome however does not now have the option to print the background colors, so you can't get your tabs and other graphic elements to look identical to on-screen pages. You have to adjust the row count on the Apex page so all rows are displayed - if you do, the browser will print multiple pages until all rows have been put into the pdf. Another advantage for the users is that they can choose to display all the filter and grouping selections on screen and capture them in the PDF output, similar to what we do in one of our Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports applications.
Other browsers (Internet Explorer and Firefox) seem not to be able to print all the rows.

  • PDF printing capabilities

    Hi there
I have here in Apex3 a report that, using some CSS/HTML tricks (basically a div element with specific CSS classes), I managed to colour some of the cells based on their contents.
Now the user wants to export it to PDF format, what was easily achieved using Apache FOP. However, of course, the div trick does not work with PDF and a nbsp (which I put inside the div) is displayed instead of the colouring.
PDF generation is new to me, so I have a few questions regarding it... Is it possible to colour cells in a report and do fancy things like that, as you can do in HTML? Or is PDF printing only able to display simple reports, with plain text?
Can anyone provide a link to a sample application that shows all the capabilities of PDF printing? (ideally with Apache FOP)
If such functionality cannot be achieved because of Apache FOP limitations, if I use the Oracle printing suite product (sorry, can't remember its name) will those limitations be overcome?
    Thanks,
    Luis

    Hi Luis,
You can create some incredibly complex and rich reports using the BI Publisher (BIP) integration that APEX allows. In your report template (using the BIP plugins) you can use conditional logic to make colour columns/rows etc depending on certain criteria.
It is possible to do this yourself using the (free) Apache FOP solution, however it involves a great deal of hand-crafting the XSL-FO code yourself (not a task to be taken lightly, but entirely possible).
If you have the budget for it (or your requirement is urgent), then I highly recommend using BIP, if you don't have the budget then I recommend Apache FOP and a bottomless coffee pot and ready access to a local bakery (you're going to need the caffeine and sugar to get you through the manual XSL-FO coding).
Another possibility is to investigate PL/PDF (www.plpdf.com) which might suit your needs.
    Hope this helps,
    John.

  • Display Query Description in Header in PDF Print

    Hi all,
When using PDF Print option I would like to print the Query Description in the Header. From the dialog box I only see options for Data, Time, Pages and custom text. Can you please let me know how can I print the Query Description in the Header while using PDF Print.
    Thank you,
    Ram

Yes I understand but that is not what I mean.
    1. I have assigned a document to a certain query element in the BW metadata repository. This document contains a short report description and the purpose with it.
    2. Now I want to display this information within a "information field" under the information tab when running a report.
Is it possible to display this information with a standard sap text element web item?

  • PDF Printer fails to create document

I have Adobe Acrobat 8.1.2 Standard and today suddenly I cannot create a PDF file from Word 2007. It will create PDF files of up to 5-6 pages but when I try the file that contains 657 pages it will only go to page 90 before I get this error message: Adobe PDF printer failed to create the PDF file.
I have tried this a couple of times (shut down computer in between each try) and every time I get the same error at the same page. The last attempt was 2 1/2 hours ago and I still have the little Acrobat icon turning circles in my toolbar. Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem?
I am working on a Dell Inspiron E1505 running Windows XP SP2. I bought Acrobat back in May and this is the first time I've had a problem with it.

Hi DJ, what is on page 90 (or 91) that is keeping the PDF printer from completing? Any half tones in any graphics? Any intense tables? Graphs?
Have you tried just making a PDF from that one page? Drill down to the page that is causing the problem, try removing one element at a time, printing to PDF, until you discover what one element is creating this issue.
We had some snow flakes with gradient half tones in one of our documents that was causing an issue much like you are experiencing.

  • Black text/graphics in PDF print grey

    Hello,
what follows is completely beginners question. I'm not even sure I'm in a right place, so my apologies (if I'm not).
I have created a little flyer in Corel Draw. It is very simple and basically contains some black text, small black outlined object and dark blue frame. It prints from Corel to my B/W home laser as it should - black text and object are solid black when printed. However, when I convert to PDF (from Corel's publish PDF option) and try printing PDF file on same printer, black text and object come out dark grey on paper.
So I took my PDF file to a friend. He's office has decent equipment and software for some reason, but they are not into graphics business so hardly an experts as well. First we tried printing PDF file to Canon iR2270 B/W network laser and on Brother HL-4200CN colour network laser and result was same - black elements in PDF print dark grey. Then we opened PDF in Adobe Illustrator CS2 and tried printing from there - and everything printed fine, black was sharp, solid black. But when we re-created PDF from Illustrator and tried printing it from Acrobat, we had same problem.
We tried some other ideas - created new document in Illustrator, printed it fine (from Illustrator), converted to PDF (both saving it as PDF and "printing" it to PDF file as there is Acrobat 7 installed as well) and whatever we did, PDF printout had grey instead of solid black. We also tried different PDF print profiles - standard, HQ, press... same issue.
Document is created as CMYK, and both in Corel and Illustrator black elements are 100% black, with CMY values set to 0%.
As it was tried in different environments with same results, I'm sure there's nothing wrong with software/drivers/hardware, but I'm missing some simple option in settings/preferences.
Does any of this make any sence to you guys? Anyone has idea what am I doing wrong..?

Ruud S. has the solution that worked for me.
"To get nice black colors they create a black just to overlap all the other colors. C 100% M 100% Y 100% K 100%"
Make a new swatch of black with ALL of the colors set to 100%, not just the black.
I have been testing this on a Brother HL-2070N printer but I've also run into these documents causing problems on our work copier (Xerox Workcenter Pro 275), though less frequently with the Xerox copier. It seems like a lot of people are having this problem with Brother printers so it might be something they are especially prone to. I don't know what program they were created in originally since they're a customer's file but I edited all of the black colors in Illustrator and it's printing fine now.
The files were originally PDF files that were 5 pages long. I've been opening up each page in Illustrator to change the colors and to make the requested changes. After I've changed each page, I create a new PDF by combining the 5 individual pages to get my packet.

  • Startdoc fails on Adobe PDF printer

I am doing an hdc.startdoc on the Adobe PDF printer. It fails with a pop up message that asks me to repair the installation or not. Previously, I had several other adobe products (Acrobat Reader 7, Photoshop Elements 5.0, and Flash) on my system and I got the same error, but sometimes it would pop up a dialog box saying that it was "Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files." and that it could not find C:\Documents and Settings\bevo.CAGI\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\&^*^*&^.joboptions. I researched this and there seemed to be conflicts with other settings files in other directory trees with other Adobe products. So I uninstalled ALL of my Adobe products, deleted the directories in Program Files\Adobe and Program Files\Common\Adobe and reinstalled Acrobat Std 9. Same pop up requesting to repair the installation, though I haven't seen the joboptions message again.
    Help!

Just got off the phone with Adobe and found a cure.
    Open print dialog box.
    Go to Set up
the paper size: scroll to top and select defined by driver.
It worked for both the HP 8150 and Xerox Phaser 7700
    I'm running CS3 on Mac Intel G5 OS X 10.5.5.

  • PDF with XFA elements

how do i convert a pdf with XFA elements to word?

    Something to try.
    Open with LCD.
    Save as "static" PDF.
    Close out of LCD.
Launch Acrobat XI Pro - Open PDF - Save As Other to MS Word.
Or, having subscribed to Adobe's online service (PDF Pack or ExportPDF) sign in to your subscription and send the PDF through the pipe.
Or, print to paper. Scan then use Acrobat or the appropriate online service (perhaps PDF Pack) to get an OCR'd PDF.
Then export to a Word file via Acrobat or the online service.
    Be well...

  • Reader 9 Acrobat PDF Printer Driver Continuously Installs

Since I have installed Reader 9, the Acrobat PDF Printer Driver Continuously Installs in the background degrading system performance. Does anyone else have this problem? It auto created a System Restore point, so check that. I am running XP with all patches applies.

    Hi Mike,
I have exactly the same problem that you describe. At first I thought it might be malicious software that was installing a fake driver, but after running Malware, Spybot and some other programs, I'm still left with the problem. I have a lot of Adobe software installed (Adobe Premiere Elements 7, Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, Adobe Audition 3, Adobe PhotoShop 7 and of course Adobe Reader 9, plus as you indicate Adobe Air and Acrobat.com I'm not sure when my problem started, since I only recognized it when I went to do a system restore. It appears to install the driver about once a minute. This leaves me with about 3 days worth of useless restore points.
The only advice that I have received is to un-install all my Adobe stuff, then check the System Restore, then one by one re-install the packages checking each time what happens in the system restore.
Have you found any solution since your original post?

  • Adobe PDF printer and "Start printing after last page is spooled"

    Hi,
After calling the Belgian Support for Adobe Product, I'm trying to have some information here.
    Hope to get some help.
We use acrobat pro XI on windows 7 client and when we print a test page with the "adobe pdf" print queue on network share, we get a printing error when the "start printing after last page is spooled" is selected in the advanced tab of the printer queue. (document is not generated, and stay in the spooler with an error).
This problem is not present if printed localy or when we use the "start printing immediately" or "print directly to the printer".
The support agent from adobe Belgium told me that the reason is generating adobe pdf on network share is not a supported operation. We have to save the document localy all the time.
Is it really an answer from Adobe ?
Do you have an other explanation ?
    Thanks for your help,

Thanks for your very good explanation Dov.
We use Adobe livecycle for this kind of purpose.
The situation described is diffrent, but you completely repond and I will be able to have some element to find a solution.
In fact, I'm implementing a softwate called DeviceLock, used to control connected devices (usb, network, drive). But this software, once installed, change the local printer parameters from "print directly to the printer" to ""start printing after last page is spooled".
As we use redirected folder in our environment and users cannot use local drive (for user's data backup) you will understand the problem.
Of course, we should be able to force the correct settings back, But Devicelock seem to change this settings after policy refresh.
I have contact with Devicelock about this problem of course as their software modify the settings, but was looking for a reason why we were not able to use the "start printing after last page is spooled" parameters with adobe Printer.
    Thanks for your explanation,
PS:The driver's dialog won't prevent you from setting “Start printing after last page is spooled” or “Print directly to the printer” but setting either of those options will cause the operations to fail as you note.
note that only "Start printing after last page is spooled" cause an error and this, only for network share location. The "print directly to the printer" or the "start printing immediately" work fine either on a local drive and a network share

  • Custom resizing images when printing in Elements 11

Hi friends .... I could use some help ... When I was using an older Photoshop version ...I could select "print with preview" and there I could adjust the size and proportion of the image to the paper size - I would see the paper in a preview box and could adjust the image by sliding the box at the corner points and size the image any way I wanted ... and could see the actual preview of how the image could fit on the paper .... in Elements 11 - even if I do a PDF and print in Preview- there's no way I can see to do that ... I only see options for set sizes- even under the custom sizing menu ... I'm using exactly the same printer that I used with Photoshop - so I'm assuming this is a limitation with Elements ... I don't even see the option in Elements printing to change the image percentage as I've been used to with any other page setup before .... Please give any advice - this is making printing exactly what I want pure guesswork and is very difficult for me ...there must be something I'm missing when I print with Elements 11 .... thanks for any help ...
    David

Oh yes it has Barbara.  David is right.  Have a look at Elements 5.  I got that free and would still be using it if I hadn't had to upgraded to Windows 7.  I've now had to buy Elements 11 because Elements 5 wouldn't load and Elements 11 does not have that fascility that David laments.  I used that printing option almost exclusively for printing cards and I bitterly regret not having it now.  I'm very disappointed with these printing options in Elements 11.  The problem is that Photoshop eminates from the one country in 180 that seems manacled to its imperial measurements that the rest of the world has to keep wading through. I expect that to acquire my favourite printing fascility I shall have to get the full verson.  I have seen it in screenshots, so I know that it is there.  It's all very well for Barbara to say resize before entering the print window but this is just trial and error and takes forever.  In the meantime I shall continue to spend ages working round this cumbersome resizing problem each time I print my cards.
