PDF printing in Landscape, but shown rotated 90 deg. clockwise on screen.

Hello all,
I need to send a considerable amount of images. My best shot is to print them in PDF (landscape mode). I myself test-printed, and it works very well.
The only thing is that those pdf-printed images are needed to be presented on computer screen as well. On the screen, landscape-pdf-printed images are displayed rotated 90 degrees. It is painful to change the view orientation one by one.
Is there any setting mode to change that?
I know that I can export images to JPEG for computer screen presentation. However, I don't want to do the same job twice, especially when printing in PDF and exporting to JPEG in high res take as much as time I need for having a meal, taking a walk, and lastly taking a shower.
If my question is too vague, or not specific enough, please tell me. I'd happy to explain further.

^^Bump due to added information that may help with the specifics of the problem.

  • How to set the orientation in Adobe X and does this affect whether PDF prints in landscape/portrait

How do I set the orientation for a PDF document in Adobe X?  Also if I set the orientation in Adobe X then does that mean the printer will automatically print it in either portrait or landscape or would that have to be configured on the printer?

Under Document (or TOOLS in AAX) you use Rotate Pages. When saved, the document should retain the rotation. As for the print, I think it will still print OK, but am not sure. Bottom line, just try it (that is exactly what I would do) on a page or two.

  • InDesign PDF printing with errors but only in browser

    Hello,
I've created a PDF poster and uploaded it to dropbox and put a link to it on my website. I want people to be able to open the PDF in the browser and print it immediately without having to download it. Unfortunately when the link to the PDF is clicked on and the poster printed, some of the objects within the PDF have moved - some items near the top seem to have shifted downwards while others have stayed where they are. However when I print the file direct from Adobe reader, this doesn't happen, it prints normally.
This is what the poster should look like, and what it looks like when printed from Adobe reader:
This is what the poster looks like when its printed from a browser:
As you can see something strange has happened to some of the objects near the top of the page, they appear to have been 'pushed down' in some way. We've tried saving the PDF as various different versions and with a variety of different settings, and although occasionally this might change the look of the printed document - the errant objects may move to different locations, this never solves the problem.
N.B. I've had the same problem when printing from some PDF readers other than Adobe reader.
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you for your time.

    Thank you for responding!
The browser doesn't open the reader, it just opens the PDF in a new window. This is the case in all browsers i've tried. But I should add that when the PDF first opens in this new window, it appears error free. It is only when print is clicked, and the print preview appears that the errors show up.
In response to your points about transparency (which I don't know about) and an interactive button, the PDF was created in InDesign just using what I assume where the default settings. So if I were to recreate the PDF in InDesign, with these complex functions disable would this solve the problem? If so could you tell me how to do that?
Thanks very much for your help,

  • CS6 in combination with FileMaker - Pictures are printed to big but shown on screen correct size

I'm using FileMaker since more than 10 years together with pictures made in PS (since version CS2) saved as .jpg / 100dpi
    it always worked perfect!
Now I got CS6 and any new picture is shown in the correct size but when I print it out of FM it gets much to large

when I print it out of FM it gets much to large
If the parameters are correct in Photoshop then the problem would seem to lie with FileMaker and thus not necessarily be a rewarding subject for a Photoshop Forum.
Do the files output correctly from other applications (Indesign, Preview, …)?

  • What could cause a printer to print in Landscape but not in Portrait mode?

    Hello gurus,
We recently migrated our application from windows to linux. Specs are as follows
    OS: RHEL 6
    DB: 11.2.0.3
    App: 12.1.3
Upon testing it was noticed that Oracle Applications successfully prints output files if they are in landscape mode but no output is received at the printer if the output is of portrait type.
The request ids show status 'Completed Normal' in both the cases.
Also printing directly from linux results in successful prints for both landscape and portrait.
The same issue exists when defining type as '--PASTA Universal Printer Type' or 'HPLJ4'
Any idea what files or settings could be causing this behaviour?

  • Cannot print in landscape mode?

Using Firefox 31.1.0 on CentOS 6
    various HP Laserjet printers
Cant print in Landscape mode. Firefox is on the server and users connect to the server via LTSP thin clients and we prefer to use Firefox for this. One of our users needs to print in Landscape mode several times a day. We used to have Firefox 10 and this was not an issue.
Have tried multiple drivers from CUPS and none have let me print in Landscape. When printing in Landscape, it acutally prints out in Portrait mode but the right side of the page is cut-off. In terminal, as root, we went to system-config-printer, right click on printer, properties, and orientation is set to automatic rotation. When changing to landscape here, it prints in landscape but the top of the page is cutoff now, and that means that all the users connected to the server are going to print by default like this, because all using same CUPS.
I have centos 6 on my stand-alone desktop (not connected to desktop LTSP server) and Landscape printing does not work on Firefox either. It works on Chrome flawlessly, but we much prefer Firefox for work use.
    Please help!

  • PDF Printing on 11G

    Hi,
I have recently had Oracle 11g database installed locally (Apex 3.0.1). Everything else is working fine apart from PDF printing (exact error is shown below). Does anyone have any ideas as to what i need to do to get the standard printing set up and working correctly?
"Adobe Reader could not open 'Filename.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attacment and wasnt correctly decoded)."
All help will be greatfully appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi Marc,
I installed standalone oc4j and it appears to be working fine (can log onto EM). I deployed the fop.war supplied with 11g DB and again it looks like it has deployed correctly..... I have checked the log and it does say there is a Servlet error, but as i am no expert in these matters i am not too sure what the error actually means(i have pasted the log below). If you can spot any mistakes i am making then highlighting those mistakes would be most gratefully recieved.
Thank you for your replies so far and any future assistance.

Within APEX i have followed the settings shown online and these are:
<hostname>.corp.net (have also tried just the hostname)
8888 (this is the port number i use to access the EM)

  • I can not print an PDF using the Adobe PDF-Printer with Acrobat DC

    Hi all,
i installed the Trial of Acrobat DC but it dont let me use the Adobe PDF-Printer well, because i cannot print from any third-party-application using Adobe PDF.
I tryed to print from within Word, Editor and Browser and selected the Adobe PDF-Printer as target, but at 75% both, the Application from which i print and the PDF-Creating-Wizzard are freezing (for hours) and i need to kill the procesed. No PDF-File is created. Same Problem with trying to print a Testfile from within the Windows-Printer-Dialogs.
Only Adobe DC cause this issue, if i use freeware like Bullzip PDF the files get created successfully, so i assume its not a generally problem with PDF on my system.
What could be the problem? (pls dont say its because of the trial, a trail should allow to test all features and Why should i buy a programm if it cannot do what a freeware can do?)

    Hey Daniel,
Have you tried repair Adobe Acrobat DC?
If no, then please repair the installation under Help menu.
This could also happen due to an Adobe Acrobat DC installation file corruption. To resolve this issue :-
Uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC using the Acrobat cleaner utility.
    Restart your computer.
Re-install Acrobat Acrobat DC  Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC.
Let me know if the issue persist.

  • PDF Printing with XSL-FO and Apache FOP

Can anyone show me in the right direction for this? I've been hitting a wall for the past 2 weeks or so and it's really starting to infuriate me. How am I supposed to work this out? Where do I start? Let's say I create a layout file with a WYSIWYG XSL editor, in what format do I export it? XSL, XSLT or XSL-FO? I figured it was XSL-FO, but who knows. I tried them all anyways, but nothing seems to work. I seem to be missing a step or something, 'cause something's definitely not right.
I created a report query (which actually contains two queries):

    Best regards,
    Mathieu

    Hello Mathieu
i assume that the default PDF printing is working, but that you want to create some better looking reports and therefore use a different non-generic XSL-FO.
You can do several things in Apex but you can use the Apache-Fop conversion also indepent from Apex.
    What you need is:
    1) An XML (Data) File. You can get it from your report query when you say export it to XML.
    2) The XSL-FO (Layout) file. THis is the processing instruction that says how convert the XML Data into an XML-FO. You can create it manually or with some tool.
    3) The next step is to render the XML-FO into any output format (pdf, rtf, html)
The creation of the XML-FO and of the PDF are done by the apache fop converter (cocoon or Batik framework if I remember correctly) in a single process but you can influence it so that both steps are done separately. See also: http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/0.95/running.html
The advantage is that you usually get much better error messages from the single steps.
My recommendation would be to do all the steps with a very basic report first.
Then gradually improve the complexity of the report, the data and the layout.

Any ideas or workarounds how to have preview pdf's or jpg's of the single paged 3D PDF files, keeping relevant file names?

I suspected as much.  I was hopeful it was something like a setting that needed to be changed or a reg hack that needed a bit changed from 0 to 1 to make the printing work as expected.  I only installed the local printer to see if the RDP session
tunnel was in fact causing the print size to balloon so I will continue to instruct users to use that instead of the local redirected printer.  I am disappointed but not surprised.
    Edit:
Additionally I have tested the functionality of setting the GPO settings for Easy Print to use the redirected printer's drivers instead of the ones used by easy print, by setting “Computer
Configuration -> Administrative templates -Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host -> Printer Redirection”.
    to “Disabled” but
with no luck.  In fact the printer received the proper Adobe PDF driver, but the job went out into print spool hell and was lost to the ether.  I have concluded that this approach will not bear any fruit.

  • Cannot print to PDF printer in Acrobat 9 Std

Hi, I've been able to print to PDF printer before.  But lately it stopped working each time I output something to the PDF printer.  It would not generate a PDF document.  I even unistalled the entire Acrobat 9 Standard and re-install a clean copy.  I still had the same problem.  My config is as follows:
         Adobe Acrobat Std 9.4.6
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) with latest release and updates.
    Thanks.

That was what I did by printing to PDF printer as a PDF file.  I provided a file name and location where to save the file, it started to generate the PDF file but then it quitted with the following log message which I do not understand:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
    82ypbdbl not found, using Courier.
%%[ Error: typecheck; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%
    Stack:
    [184 184 185 184 0]

    0.0
    10.0
    1

    1.0
    false
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
    End of log message.
It looks like what there was some problem with the wrong font type not found so something.  Thanks.

  • Pro upgrade removes PDF printer port

I recently purchased and installed AA8 Pro upgrade from AA8 Std. During the installation, it required automatically uninstalling AA8 Std before continuing and, during it's AA8 Pro install, gave an error about creating the PDF printer port. After the install completed, the PDF printer is there, but the port is set to LPT1:. As a result, every time I create a PDF from within Word or such, I get a "document failed to print" message from the printer queue. I have to open the queue and delete the jobs. However, the PDF file does get created and opens in acrobat? Does anyone know how to re-create the Documents/*.PDF port and associate it back with the printer to eliminate the issue?

  • Firefox 19 Beta and the Latest Acobat updates Broke PDF Printer

Details at Bugzilla:  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=837369  (Not Responding Error)
In a netshell, in FF 19 beta I can only now create PDF's if I do it from the Print Preview Pane.
In the previous FF update prior to FF 19, PDF printing was sporatic, BUT I could usually print to PDF if after choosing the fiename to print to, and minimizing Firefox.
It appears that the Dialog "Creating Adobe PDF" is being blocked and hidden.

Yea, I know it does appear to be a hit or miss situation and, for me, mostly miss.  The "Creating Adobe PDF" window gets really burried.
Sometimes it never, ever completes, but the document does.  Other times it will appear just as you Kill Firefox.  Somtimes the docuament names are even wrong.
In short, it's really messed up.
There is Firefox doing things, Windows doing things, Distiller doing things and they really all need to be on top, but not on top of each other.  I think Firefox is monopolizing the desktop.
It's painfully obvious that the PDF prnter file dialog should come to the front automatically and it doesn;t.  It hasn't for a while.  Again, Firefox wins.
Notice that when you move some of the Adobe dialogs, the Firefox screen underneath leaves holes.

  • CSS to print in landscape

I currently have an grid that i need to print from a form. When i try to print the grid it is too wide to be printed in portrait. I have made a CSS that forces the page to print in landscape, but when added to the style sheet that uix uses the grid does not print in landscape. If someone could provide an alternative to this problem or a solution i would appreciate it.

Please somebody help me out. Thanks

  • Why is my PDF printing off center when I have the landscape box checked?

I am having some trouble with printing my pdf's. I have several PDF's that are oriented in landscape orientation. In the past, they printed normally in landscape mode or autoportrait/landscape mode. Now they print fine in autoportrait/landscape mode, but print off center when printed in landscape mode. The reason this is a problem, is I have given instructions to 100's of my buyers for printing in "landscape mode"....have heard from one buyer already today with this printing problem. I  was then able to reproduce the problem on my own printer.  Is this a recent Adobe update and if so will it be fixed any time soon? Or is there something I have unknowingly done to my printer setting and this buyer has done the same? Thank you in advance for your help.

This is happening when I have the "actual size" box checked  (the scaling box is not checked). Also, the printable area is centered on the page in the original documents. I have printed all of these pdf's in the past with the landscape box checked and have never had this happen.
