PDF Printing problems with networked HP Laserjet C5020N

Hello,
I'm having problems printing documents that I've created with the PDF creator of Office 2007. When I try to print only the first page, the printer correctly prints, but when I try any other job (printing the whole document, only the 2nd page, page 1 and 2, and so on) the printer refuses and prints one sheet that says:
Error Name: /undefined
Offending Command: --file--
Operand Stack:
I use Adobe Reader 8.1.0.

Also having other "permission" based problems as well. Other people cannot open my PDFs even though I have not used any security. I'm thinking about getting a previous version of Accrobat Pro and installing that.

  • Adobe reader XI: doule sided print problem with network printer (windows 8 pro)

Hi, I'm facing a problem with my old printer, the xerox phaser 3160n. It was connected to my notebook through network connection, and everything works well with Adobe X /Win 7 OS (including the double side print, of course) last month, I have upgraded my NB to windows 8 with clean install
clean install my printer driver for windows 8 too, and Adobe reader XI was also downloaded through official website.
However, since I was about to use double sided print in Adobe reader XI (11.00.02) it couldn't obey the order, but just print one side as usual
I have checked the "option" of my printer, and it was correctly set to "double-sided print". I have tried word 2013 to open the same pdf, and choose the same "double-sided print" and it works perfectly.
Is this problem a bug? and would it be corrected in the next update version??
(I remeber I've saw a similar issue too, with network printer, but I couldn't find it)
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
Meanwhile, after insatlling the latest driver for printer from the manufacture website, restart the spooler service as a test.
Start > Run > cmd and type "net stop spooler" after that "net start spooler" or start > run > service.msc and restart it over the GUI.
Run Printer Troubleshootor under Action Center\Troubleshooting\Programs\Printer, and check if it helps.
And yes, the manufacture should have more sence about the printer, it's recommended to contact them.

  • Problem with networking HP Laserjet 1100 with Leopard with new Intel iMac

I have an HP Laserjet 1100 that I have used with my old iMac running Panther. I had used the HPIJS drivers in the past with the HP Laserjet 5 driver selected. It worked flawlessly. I use IPP to connect to the printer via a printer server.
I have purchased a new iMac which is Intel based and runs Leopard. I am having a lot of trouble getting this printer to work with it. I went to the website referenced above and installed Ghostscript, Foomatic RIP and then finally HPIJS. As I add the printer, it gave me the option to select an HP Laserjet 1100 printer (from the HPIJS set). When I add the IP address, it says it is valid. When I try to print, there is no response; the job just times out. I had the same problem with the Gutenprint driver that was installed with Leopard.
Finally, I tried the HP Laserjet 6 from the HPIJS driver set. It had the word "recommended" next to it which was intriguing. It too did not work.
    I would appreciate any help.
    Steve Kirchner

I'm afraid that Ghostscript, etc. are PPC only applications and any printer plug-ins they install will not work on an Intel Mac. You should uninstall all the third-party stuff you've installed for the printer, then only use the included printer driver installed by OS X unless HP has a universal binary driver compatible with OS X and Intel Macs. You might try using LPD rather than IPP for the printer.

HP posted a workaround for this problem while they were working with Microsoft to get the root cause of the problem, many customers commented that the workaround helped them out and they were able to print. This workaround was not easy to use as the customer needed to add another printer manually and changed drivers.
We can now announce that the problem has been fixed, the problem involved a Microsoft Network component that HP was using to talk to and track the printers on the network. This fix is being rolled out by Microsoft via Windows Update and anyone who has Windows Update enabled and set to automatically install updates should have already received this update. For those that do not have Windows Update setup to automatically install fixes the fix is available now and should be installed.
The details of this fix and a manual method of installing it can be found here.

This fix is only designed for users that are using there printer on a Network (Wireless or Wired) and will not fix partial printing problems encountered with USB connections.

    @tenkeypro
First, I would suggest you uninstall the exsisting driver and reinstall following one of these documents to see if it will clear this error message:
Install HP print and scan software on a Windows 8 computer (32-bit and 64-bit)
    Universal Print Driver (no scan)
Driver support included in Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 or in Windows Update

  • PDF Print Problems with OS 10.6.7

Since installing the most recent OS update 10.6.7 on my Macbook, I have been having trouble printing PDF documents on two printers--a Brother HL-5370 DW and an HP PSC 1600. Black vertical lines print across the page. On another Mac with OS 10.5, PDFs still print fine. In all cases, print preview shows normal print output.

10.7.7 is causing problems with pdf and printing - please see http://db.tidbits.com/article/12078 for a better explanation. I have the same and can't print to either of our Canon office printers or print to pdfs any longer - but can you contact Apple to advise them they have a problem ... no!

  • PDF Printing Problem with HP UPD Printer

    Hi,
in our Company we use the HP UPD Driver PCL5 in Version 5.9.0.18326. The Printermodells are HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401, HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color M451, HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow M830z, HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 MFP M525dn, HP LaserJet Enterprise M630dn, HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow M680z and HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow M880z with newest Firmware.
If a PDF file is printed using Adobe Reader, it takes a long time until the file is printed on the printer. Partially individual pages are printed in one-minute intervals. But if I use another PDF viewer such as Foxit Reader, PDF documents can be printed at normal speed.
Other documents, such as Word or Excel files are printed normally. Only PDF documents that are printed with Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat are affected. We use the Acrobat Reader version 11.0.10. With version 11.0.6, the problem also occurs.
Sometimes it also happens that the PDF document fills up the memory of the printer when it was printed with Adobe Reader. With Foxit Reader this does not happen with the same document.
Does anyone know this problem and knows what to do?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ cups ▹ error_log
from the hierarchical list on the left side of the Console window. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the time of the last failed printing attempt. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

  • Printing problems with HP  Color Laserjet 1500L

Can anyone please help me with the following problem?
The printer will only do the first job. After that it refuses to print. The job stops, remains in the queue, and cannot be started.
Or…it looks as if it sends the print information to the printer – the green light of the printer flashes – but nothing further happens. The queue is empty and the job’s name even appears in the completed section.
The HP 1500L and the USB port are visible in the System Profiler. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver and did run Repair Disk Permissions.
I can only print again after I restarted or unplug and (re)plug the USB cable (not always). The cable is not faulty...but I'm going crazy.
I am new to the Mac world. The MacBook Pro being my first (and the way it looks definitely not the last--wonderful machine).
    Any suggestions?

To use the OS X standard network protocols (Windows/IP printing), you must have either a postscript printer (the driver in that case is just a ppd for the OS X postscript output) OR, a driver designed to work with CUPS (CUPS driver). HP doesn't provide CUPS drivers for OS X (who knows why, since they do for linux).
You need to install foomatic and ESP ghostscript:
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/foomatic/
    then, install the foo2oak driver:

  • PDF printing problems with Canon Color C3220

I'm having an issue with our Canon Color Imagerunner C3220.
When I send a PDF from Acrobat Professional 7.0 from a Mac to the

not sure. Canon did some troubleshooting and says the problem lies
with the way the Mac interprets the PDF output going to the Canon.
These PDFs were made from InDesign CS2 and Distiller 7.0. Other

  • Reader 9 PDF printing problem with Canon printers

If you get no job output but only a blinking LED on various Canon network printers this might help:
    1. Open Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
    2. Choose File > Print.
    3. Click the Advanced button.
    4. Check "let printer determine colors"
Additionally you might need to set the "Font and Resource Policy" dropdown to "Send for Each Page" as described in http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb408015&sliceId=1
    Good luck!

    Abhigyan,
The Java Script hasn't changed in 2 years. It was developed by an Adobe Partner. Adobe Reader and Acrobat have changed.
I'll try to step through the script but haven't had much luck in past.
Here are the lines that Reader likely is throwing the error:
    oDoc.print(pp);
    if ( bCloseNoSave )  oDoc.closeDoc({bNoSave:true});
As I stated, it works in previous versions of Reader (9.0 through version 9.3.2). The issue began when Adobe released version 9.3.3.

  • Printing Problems with PDF - Adobe Acrobat

    Printer - HP Deskjet 3070A
Laptop - Asus Zenbook running Windows 7 Home Premium
Issue: Printing problems with PDF (Adobe Acrobat Reader)
    Dear All,
    Please help!
My printer was working absolutely perfectly until my brother in law recently needed to borrow my printer. He plugged in his laptop running Windows 8 (awful thing that is). Since he did this to print his own PDF, I cannot print mine.
Although all the text will appear on the page perfectly both in the document view and on actual printing, it appears that some of the transparent formatting stuff on a PDF - such as boxes you have to fill in and transparent areas (such as you find on glorious tax forms) are omitted completely. In fact, in their place I was getting a single black dot. Now, after uninstalling and re-installing updates for the printer, windows 7, adobe acrobat reader, etc.etc. I get squat. Just all the text laid out but none of the shading or boxes.
I have tried fiddling with the printer settings; the  print as 'photo' option, dpi settings, greyscale - as much as I can think of and I am thoroughly stumped.
In a desperate attempt, I even installed the Universal Printer Drivers - thinking it might have been that. No. All I got was a page of gobbledygook. Consequently, I uninstalled and reinstalled the normal drivers again.
If there are any wonderful people out there with any fabulous ideas about how I can get my shading and boxes back; I'd  very much appreciate it. Sadly I have a tax return to fill out (which is already fabulously late) and need my printer to work!
    Much appreciation in advance x

    Hey there @Reverie!
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I can see that the printer is no longer printing in the correct format after it was plugged into the Windows 8 computer!  You mentioned you have run the updates and uninstalled/re-installed the printer software.  Have you uninstalled and re-installed the Adobe software? Are you getting the same issue from other programs as well? Are you getting the same issues if you are logged in as a different user on the computer?
I have located the HP Update Software Utility that may be able to help.  You can download an run the utility.  It may be able to locate any other updates for the printer.
I would also recommend running a disk cleanup on the computer to clear any temporary files and junk files that may be causing some performance or software issues. If you do not know how to run a disk cleanup on the computer please follow this document regarding Delete files using Disk Cleanup.  It is recommended to restart the computer after a disk cleanup. After the restart try the print job again!
Let me know if that helped and thanks again for posting on the HP Forums!

But there are printer. I can print via word, excel etc. But i cannot print pdfs.
It is similar with adobe professioal 6.0 and SP3
    Do you have an idea?
    thanks a lot

Since the issue occurs only when printing PDF files, you could try installing the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from adobe.com.

  • More PDF Printing Problems

There are lots of notes in this forum crying about PDF printing problems. For what it's worth, I'd like to add mine.
I'm using Jakarta FOP to generate a PDF on the fly from XML data. The PDFs it's producing are read and displayed nicely by Adobe Acrobat and print from Acrobat without a problem.
I've also written a simple desktop app that exercises the java.print package. (I won't bore anybody with a listing.) It uses the PrintServiceLookup to discover the two networked printers I have attached to my machine, using DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE. I have it discover all the supported document flavors. Here's the result:
    application/octet-stream
    application/x-java-jvm-local-objectref
    image/gif
    image/jpeg
    image/png
I can sent text documents to the printer without a problem. But when I try to send a PDF generated by FOP that renders and prints fine from Acrobat, I get gibberish text out. I'm using DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE as my DocFlavor when I create the doc.
I don't see application/pdf on my list of supported document flavors. Should I? If that's a requirement, what do I have to do to the printer to get it on the list? Why is Adobe Acrobat smart enough to print to a printer wo/ this flavor and javax.print not? TIA - MOD

Now I get it - I can't send PDFs from Java to a printer. A careful reading of forum threads and John Zukowski's note have driven a stake into the heart of the vampire.
I can bring them up just fine by creating the PDF using FOP and then sending the page back to the browser for rendering. If my client could just print the document from his machine, all would be well.
However, my app has a situation where some label printers will ONLY be attached to the server. They won't be visible from the client. I thought I had a solution with javax.print, but now that hope's gone.
The printers I have aren't Postscript, so suggestions to ask FOP to generate Postcript won't help me.
Adobe's site didn't offer any relief.
I haven't been able to find any for-fee or open source packages that might help. Plenty of stuff out there to convert to PDF, but nothing that helps to print it once you have it.
Is there any point in entering this as a bug in the database? It's less bug and more vaporware. After all, the docs never SAID they'd thrown an invalid flavor exception if you tried to print a PDF.
Sun, are you listening? - MOD
