PDF printing through WAD

Hi,
We have designed a template in WAD.
The template is having a print functionality(export to PDF). However, if my report is having 10 cloumns, the PDF version is showing 8 cloumns in the first page and the remaining 2 columns in the second page. This pattern is maintained throughout all the pages of the PDF
Is there any way to confine the entire report(all the columns to be precise) in a single page?
Regards,
Anjana.

Hi,
1. Either you can have a Link Web Item (Misc. Tab) or you can have a Button Group Web Item (Stand. Tab). Drag n drop any of these on the template.
2. In their properties, give the display name and length n height etc. For button group, you can add how many buttons you want.
Button Group: you have to name your buttons and then define what you want it to do. So, you have define a command. There is a small button corresponding to each button that you add under the button group. click that.
-->You will have the option of command via command (by default). And it will ask you what command you want to define. Click on the corresponding button again. A screen pops up. You have 2 options. select All commands and then Commands for Web temp (4th command in the list). In that select Export Web Template. In the next screen, give your data binding. By default it will be exported to PDF. You can change that to Excel or CSV. Give header n footer etc..
You can do the similar with the Link item.
Create a new post if you have more doubts.
Hope this helps.

  • Snow Leopard: can't use Adobe PDF printer through Distiller

I am on Quark 8.1.6.2 and Snow Leopard (10.6.4) and use Acrobat Pro 9.4.
To make a PDF file I am always used to going through the Quark print dialogue boxes, selecting Adobe PDF as the printer, setting up sizes, settings etc, saving to a .ps file then using Adobe Acrobat Pro (9.4) Distiller to make a high res PDF for press. Worked fine, before I got Snow Leopard.
I have now read that Adobe PDF Printer is not available on Snow Leopard and that all applications that used Adobe PDF Printer to print pdfs will not be able to print pdfs.
See this link: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html which only helps InDesign users, not Quark 8 users.
In the print dialogue box it no longer allows me to set up custom page sizes for a .ps file.
How do I now print to high res for print PDF (through a .ps file for Distiller). ie, I don't want to export to PDF through the Quark print dialogue, as it makes too big a file, that's why I need to go through Distiller first. Help!

PDF/X-3 is the best choice to use in those provided by Quark. You can read up on the PDF/X format here. For correct use, version 3 requires all fonts used to be embedded (which the Quark function does automatically). Version 3 also requires all images to be CMYK or spot color. That doesn't mean you can't use it for RGB, though. PDF/X-3 also allows calibrated RGB images and CIELAB.
I assume for pre-press output I should use ''Press - high quality/high resolution', but then Acrobat Distiller asks for settings too...
You don't go through Acrobat Pro or the Distiller at all when outputting a PDF from Quark. The function is built in. There are nice, short descriptions of the various PDF choices here.
When you select a style, the defaults are automatically applied. You will get center and trim marks and whatever else is in the default settings. After you have selected the PDF version you want to use, then click on the Options button. Turn off marks, downsampling of images, or whatever else you want to change. Click the Capture Settings button and Quark will then automatically use your last settings as the method to create PDF files. When clicking the option to capture, you'll be thrown back to the document the first time, so you'll have to go to the menu to choose Layout as PDF again. But you'll see the choice is on Captured Settings. So until you change it, all you have to do is choose a location and click Save.

  • PDF Printing in WAD

Hi Gurus, I have this custom template that I am using in WAD. I ran the report and I can see the 'PDF Print' button on the report. I click on it an I get a dialog box where i can shoose the margins and all other things. Now I click OK and I get this message "Adobe Acrobat could not open '****.PDF' becuase it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't corectly decoded).". While a user here can open the file just fine.
I tried searching this error msg on google and they all seems to refer to intallng previous verison of Adobe and which I did. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Sapbuddy, but here I am just tyring to run the report. Now the seems to have added/turned on Adobe Services in BWD, so I do not have this problem now.
But now I when ever I click on "Print PDF", I get Adobe window with the results skewed to one side. They are not what it should have been.
Any idea why? I coudn't even find any OSS note on this issue.

  • PDF Printing through concurrent fails

    Hi Friends,
I am using R12.1.1 (Fresh Instance with US7ASCII Character set) on Linux.
I set the Output type of Active Users to PDF and submit the request and see the output in PDF format.
But when i send the Active users Report to the Post Script Printer then i am getting blank pages (Junk).I configured PASTA also.
    My qusetion is :
Do i definitely need XML Configuration to print PDF reports directly through concurrent request?
If not then why Active users is not printing
    Regards,
    DB

Unless you have a printer that can print PDF directly, you need to convert PDF to Postscript prior to sending to postscript printer via lp command.
Use pdf2ps or pdftops or acroread to create .ps file then pass that to lp command.

  • How to create a PDF Printer

Hi, we need to create a system PDF printer.
I found many solution with a local printer but none with a system printer.
does it exist an how-to to create this kind of printer?
    thank you

    Hello Massimo,
this is possible by using the device type PDF1 (or ZPDF1). Please follow the instructions of the following notes in order to create a PDF printer in your system. These notes show different alternatives on how to achieve this:
#317851 Creating PDF format via spooler in 4.6C/4.6B/4.5B
#576973 Creating a file printer on a Windows PC
#323736 Restrictions with "PDF print" through spooler
The last note has the list of restrictions on this functionality.
Also, is your OS Windows? Then please check the following note:
#161516 Printing into a file or anywhere else in NT
    I hope this information helps.

  • Adobe PDF Printer No Longer Available After Acrobat X Install

I've been using Acrobat 8 Pro for several years. To generate PDFs, I use the Adobe PDF printer (through FrameMaker). I recently installed Acrobat X Pro. Now there's no Adobe PDF printer. Save as PDF doesn't work (no PDF generated). I need to get the Adobe PDF printer back but cannot find any information about how to install it. All the Acrobat Distiller help has to say is that you should use the Adobe PDF printer. Not helpful at all.

    Good day,
I'd like to see if I can help you.

Did the Adobe PDF Printer install with your trial?
What application did you author the file in that you'd like to convert to PDF?
Did you print your file from that application to the Adobe PDF Printer?
And to correct and continue to evaluate the "TRIAL" version I must delete the working version of software so that the "TRIAL" Version will be able to create a PDF!!!!(30 Min)
And if I don't like the "TRIAL" version I have to Reinstall the Original.
    (30 Min)
Do you mean that you had a previous version of Acrobat (such as Adobe Acrobat 8 or 9) installed?
If so, this is not surprising as we do not support multiple versions of Acrobat installed on the same computer.

  • Why does my PDF look so CRAPPY when I print through acrobat???

I have been having troubles with exporting a PDF from an Indesign file.. when I printed the exported PDF from acrobat, text was printing out very pixelated. I was exporting the file in indesign as a press quality pdf. The text looked fine when I viewed it in acrobat and zoomed in, but when I printed it out it looked very pixelated and not as black as it had when I had printed the file directly from indesign.
so this is what I've figured it out so far... I was exporting to PDF in indesign then opening it in adobe arobat pro and printing from there... for some reason when I went into my advanced print settings in acrobat, it was set to "print as image: 100 dpi." I changed it and it printed out better but not perfect. To double check it was adobe that was causing the issue, I opened and printed the pdf through mac preview. This looked perfect - - exactly like it did when I printed through INDD.
So my questions are, 1> WHY does it automatically printing as an image 100 dpi in adobe? and 2> how can I change this setting so when my client opens it up, they dont have to mess with any of the print settings to get it to look how it's supposed to? Is this a setting I can change when I save the file? I want to make sure it prints out correctly because one of the fonts used is ultralight and can look very very light if printed incorrecty. It looks perfect when I print through preview, but even printing as an image in 600 dpi through acrobat pro, the ultralight font looks lighter and more faded than it should (and than it does in the preview and INDD printed files). If i unselect the "print as image" checkbox, the ultralight text looks better but still not perfect. So that would make my second question >> WHY is the print quality worse when I print through adobe, and how can I remedy this? Any ideas??? Any help much appreciated!
**using acrobat pro 9.4.6 on mac osx 10.6.8

The PDF file itself does not control the "print as image" preference, which should always be turned OFF unless there's a specific need to rasterize the entire page, and is turned off by default in all Acrobat and Adobe Reader installations.
What's the filetype for the ultralight font and what export setting* are you using in ID? If you're exporting to earlier than PDF1.7, OpenType fonts will be converted and may experience some small changes in shape if their hint definitions aren't done right.
*As a side note, bear in mind that InDesign does not use any part of Acrobat when exporting PDFs, so questions specific to that stage in the process should be posted to the InDesign forums.

But PDF doc is still in 8.5X11. Read ADOBE support help info. Terls me to change size in application rather than printer. BUT ACROBAT Pro does not give me a page set up option in FILE. I can only find one in the printer dialog box. Help!

from the FAQs on Staples website:
I have a file that I know is a PDF, but the website claims it is not in a PDF format. What should I do?
Check to see that the file has the .PDF extension. Also, check that the filename does not have any special characters such as an ampersand (“&”).
Regarding your measurements set to centimeters rather than inches; is it just in MS Word?
Or does it occur in all other applications.
    Check your Work preferences first:
If it is happening in all your applications, check your Mac OS System Preferences.

Why have I lost PDF printing capability through the File>Print menu?  When will it be fixed?

What app are you using to view PDF files? Preview can be a poor choice for some PDF files - I recommend using Adobe Reader - http://get.adobe.com/reader/ - perhaps it will solve your printing problem.

  • WAD defaults for PDF printing?

    Hi There,
First of all I'm sorry if this is not the correct section but please correct me is that's the case.
Is there any way to change default margin values for PDF printing? I can change them on template but from where comes those default values and can I change those?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jari

    Hi,
Yes but if I don't set them in "EXPORT" I'll get for example default margins "25" from somewhere. Is there any way to set those defaults to something else?

  • Windows Server 2008R2 running Remote Desktop Services reports printer process does not exist when installing PDF printer

Windows Server 2008R2 running Remote Desktop Services reports printer process does not exist when installing PDF printer, And when Installing network printers from the domain controller it reports it cannot connect to printer.  I can ping all
network devices. I can connect to the internet.
On boot I get a netlogon 5719 error followed by service control manager errors 7023,7001 and a group policy error 1129.
Clients can connect to the remote application and RDP operates to connect to the server internally and externally.
The domain controller is another server 2008r2 box. I have scoured the internet but have not found any solutions that work yet.

    Hi,
After referring to your post, it can be identified that the issue which you are facing is mostly due to some network issue in your environment. Please recheck your network connection issue between computer and domain controller.
Can you able to ping with IP address and also with fully qualified name of a domain controller in the users' and computers' domain. If it fails states that name resolution issue with computer and domain controller. Are you using MS DHCP Relay agent then there’s
available Hotfix for the particular Event ID. Please go through this KB 2459530 to fix the error event ID.
As per the net logon error 5719 which you are facing states that the client component of Netlogon was unable to locate a DC for the domain it was trying to perform an operation against. Below is one of the reason. If this is being logged on a DC and the event
refers to the DC's own domain, something might be preventing the client component of Netlogon from starting a network session (to itself or to another DC in the domain). The following event 7001 & 7023 states start & stop operation service. Please
go through beneath article for more details.
    1.  Event ID 5719 is logged when you start a computer
    2.  Netlogon 5719 and the Disappearing Domain [Controller]
    3.  Event ID 1129 — Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy
    Hope it helps!
