PDF prints ok B&W wrong in Color

I have a simple greeting card pdf that prints fine in B&W but when I print in color, the elements are in the wrong places.  There should be a border at the Left of the page, and an image to the right with a wide white band between.  In B&W this is fine. In color, it's all pushed over to the right margin.  I've tried a new color cartridge and every setting known to man. I have a Deskjet 5940, running Windows XP.  Never had problems before. HELP.

I tried loading the Deskjet 990c driver, since that was mentioned in another topic as a solution for borders at bottom of page. This works...intermittently.  I am wasting tons of paper and ink trying to print a single card. It's hit or miss. I have to delete and reinstall the 990c driver...and if Im LUCKY it will work.  I am VERY annoyed; my next printer will NOT be an HP, that's for sure.

  • Printing to PDF: prints the wrong page size and orientation

I am trying to print a simple 60 page document composed of 8 x 11 inch pages to a pdf. I want the pdf in spreads, so that 2 8x11 inch pages in portrait orientation will be next to each other as a spread. Each time I try to print, the pdf comes out in the wrong orientation or the wrong size or both. When I export it to a pdf, it is the right orientation and page size, but the file size is way too large. So how do I fix this annoying problem? I have tried adjusting the print setup but it still won't print right. This seems like a simple operation, but indesign has been giving me trouble with this for weeks. I should mention I'm using CC. Thank you.

Go to the AdminUI ( http://<servername>:<port>/adminui ), and to Services, PDF Generator.  Pick File Type Settings, and click on the Standard entry.  If you pop open the HTML to PDF section, you can edit the size, margins, orientation, headings and footers, site recursion, and pdf initial view settings.  <br /><br />Save your settings as a new Filetype (you can make as many as you want), and pass the name the filetype as the second parameter to the call to the htmlToPDF method on the web service client.<br /><br />http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/es/sdkHelp/programmer/javadoc/com/adobe/livecycle/g eneratepdf/client/GeneratePdfServiceClient.html<br /><br />I am unfamiliar with interacting directly with the web services via SOAP, so if you are not using the pre-built GeneratePdfServiceClient supplied by Adobe and this information does not solve your issue you will need to see if anybody else can help.  I imagine that there is a similar String parameter where you place the Filetype name defined in the AdminUI.<br /><br />(edit: I should mention, the GeneratePdf service is a part of PDF Generator ES, not Output ES, so you may have better luck in the general Livecycle ES forum)

  • InDesign export to PDF Print color issues

    Hey there,
I'm working on a document in InDesign, have been for many hours now.  So far whenever exporting to PDF print there have been no problems.  Now all of a sudden, if I change a color in the InDesign file and export to PDF, nothing actually changes on the PDF anymore.
Any idea what's going on? Did I accidentally change a setting or something?
Example:  Say I have a shape that's Black. I export it, it's black.  Now, I go into the document and change the shape color to Yellow, export it; still black.
    Regards,
    SL

Chrome's built-in PDF browser does not even begin to conform to the PDF specification. It might be fine to read PDF files from the simplest of Word documents, but not output from any graphic arts source.
(The same is true for Apple's Preview application under MacOS and their PDF viewer under iOS!)

  • Black text/graphics in PDF print grey

    Hello,
what follows is completely beginners question. I'm not even sure I'm in a right place, so my apologies (if I'm not).
I have created a little flyer in Corel Draw. It is very simple and basically contains some black text, small black outlined object and dark blue frame. It prints from Corel to my B/W home laser as it should - black text and object are solid black when printed. However, when I convert to PDF (from Corel's publish PDF option) and try printing PDF file on same printer, black text and object come out dark grey on paper.
So I took my PDF file to a friend. He's office has decent equipment and software for some reason, but they are not into graphics business so hardly an experts as well. First we tried printing PDF file to Canon iR2270 B/W network laser and on Brother HL-4200CN colour network laser and result was same - black elements in PDF print dark grey. Then we opened PDF in Adobe Illustrator CS2 and tried printing from there - and everything printed fine, black was sharp, solid black. But when we re-created PDF from Illustrator and tried printing it from Acrobat, we had same problem.
We tried some other ideas - created new document in Illustrator, printed it fine (from Illustrator), converted to PDF (both saving it as PDF and "printing" it to PDF file as there is Acrobat 7 installed as well) and whatever we did, PDF printout had grey instead of solid black. We also tried different PDF print profiles - standard, HQ, press... same issue.
Document is created as CMYK, and both in Corel and Illustrator black elements are 100% black, with CMY values set to 0%.
As it was tried in different environments with same results, I'm sure there's nothing wrong with software/drivers/hardware, but I'm missing some simple option in settings/preferences.
Does any of this make any sence to you guys? Anyone has idea what am I doing wrong..?

Ruud S. has the solution that worked for me.
"To get nice black colors they create a black just to overlap all the other colors. C 100% M 100% Y 100% K 100%"
Make a new swatch of black with ALL of the colors set to 100%, not just the black.
I have been testing this on a Brother HL-2070N printer but I've also run into these documents causing problems on our work copier (Xerox Workcenter Pro 275), though less frequently with the Xerox copier. It seems like a lot of people are having this problem with Brother printers so it might be something they are especially prone to. I don't know what program they were created in originally since they're a customer's file but I edited all of the black colors in Illustrator and it's printing fine now.
The files were originally PDF files that were 5 pages long. I've been opening up each page in Illustrator to change the colors and to make the requested changes. After I've changed each page, I create a new PDF by combining the 5 individual pages to get my packet.

  • PDF printer: RGB 220dpi scale to 150,845

Since I use the Adobe PDF printer 7, all my RGB grayscale TIF photos from MS
WordXP files are changed from 220dpi to 150dpi.
The settings in the used profiles are "don't change color photos / grayscale

  • Printer regonizes Black/white page as color page

When we print a Word document to a PDF file with the Acrobat printer, pages that contain only Black/White information but with an image that looks as if it is Black/White, the printer recognizes the page as a color page. When we print this page with Word directly to the printer, the page is recognized as a Black/White page.
Are there color setting available which control the setting for gray scale images to be printed Black/White?

    Leo,
choose for default settings a joboption set which
    contains for output
    Settingsfile: None
Color Management: Leave Color Unchanged (!)
    Results:
Source sRGB (color): PDF color 3x8 bits
    OK
Source Grayscale: PDF gray 1x8 bits (Indexed)
    OK
Source sRGB (gray) with R=G=B: PDF gray 1x8bits (Indexed)

  • Using PDF Printer TO Print Multiple Word Docs At Once.

I Have Just upgraded from acrobat to acrobat 3d. In Acrobat 5 i was able to select a batch of word document (150+ usually) and use the send to command to send them to the acrobat distiller and each document would open one at a time print and then close. I have now been upgraded to Acroabat 3D and if i use the same Send to Command to send a batch of word docs to the pdf printer it tries to open all the selected files at once and i get an error message "the command cannot be performened because a dialog box is open..." this is because the 1st document is open and printing so the secound document that opened at the same time cannot operate the print command. Can Anyone help?

    Thanks for the suggestion but...
    1. I can't get these scripts to run in 10.4.8
What if you save the script as a stand alone app? Does that make a difference?
    2. I haven't spent much timr trying since it looks
like thy only convert "JPEG", "GIFf", "PICT", "TIFF",
"PDF" & "TEXT". Am I wrong?
That's what it looks like from the "extension-list" - what type of files are you trying to convert?

  • PDF printer has a problem with Safari in "Reader" mode in Windows7

As shown in the image above. When I try to use the PDF printer to print out a web page in Safari "Reader" mode, the lines near the bottom of each page get squeezed like this. There is no problem with XPS printer. I guess this problem is because of some incorrect settings in Safari or the PDF printer?
My system is Windows 7 Pro. I am using Acrobat X Pro. The page I am trying to print is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_band_structure. This problem only happens when the webpage is adjusted into "Reader" mode in Safari.

    Many thanks for your reply!
I am sorry, I did not make my question clear. I would like to save some web pages only in "Reader" mode, because in this mode all the advertisements are filtered out and the pages look much nicer than the origional layout.
I first let Safari to active "Reader" by clicking "Reader" button.
Then I click "Print" button and select Adobe PDF as the printer.
The problem is the PDF file has something wrong (shown above), and I would like to know how to avoid this problem.

  • How can I convert Pdf from RGB to CMYK, keeping font color 100% K while working in Illustrator?

How can I convert Pdf from RGB to CMYK, keeping font color 100% K while working in Illustrator?
When I try to open the document in Illustrator and I convert to CMYK the black font converts to rich black, but to set up for Offset printintg I need the text to be only in Black (100%K).
The original source of the document is a Microsoft Word file, I have converted the Word file to Pdf in order to setup for OFfset Printing.
    Thanks

I have tried that way, but the downside is that the fonts are set in gray not in a 100%K, also I have to deal with other fonts that are composites and meant to stay Full Color. I could select text by text and convert to gray but, its a 64 page document and I wouldn't want to make a expensive mistake.

  • All PDF print as completely black pages.  I can read the PDF fine.  This is true on any printer.

All PDF print as completely black pages.  I can read the PDF fine.  This is true on any printer.
A google search shows others have had this problem, but I have not seen a solution posted.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat, without help.  I'm wondering if this is a registry problem.
I saw some post that referred to a stuck switch of print colors as black, but I know nothing about this.
    Please help!

I am using a Mac (all software latest version - Mt. Lion and Safari as web browser).  I see this exact problem but NOT with all PDFs.  As you might not know, PDF creation is built-into all Macs and I do NOT have a problem with any of those, nor has anyone complained to me about those.  Also, Macs have a bulit-in PDF viewer ("Preview") which also can NOT view the file correctly.  If I try to open the file once it has been stored on the desktop, Acrobat gives me an "incorrectly formatted PDF file" error.
My AMEX statement is unprintable and some other stuff that comes from our local school board, and other online sources.  (My suspicion is that these files are not perfectly formatted).
    Here was my work-around:
I use FIREFOX browser to retrieve the same PDF and it prints fine.
I, too, would LOVE to know why this is happening because it is annoying.

  • Email printed to PDF, PDF appears accurate in Acrobat XI Pro, when PDF printed to paper text missing

    HELP!!!
I have text disappear from Outlook emails printed to PDF when I print the PDF files from Acrobat XI Pro to a printer.
Here is a sample png from the PDF file printed out of Outlook - all the text is showing.
However when I print the PDF from Acrobat to a printer, the document comes out of the printer with text missing as shown:
The Acrobat print window shows all of the text that should be there as does Acrobat's view of the document.
Also, if I save the file to an image, all of the text is there.
I have tried different emails as well as different printers and the paper printed copies of the PDF emails are always missing text.
Additionally I have tried coverting the PDF file to a PDF/A file and printing that and the same problems occur.
Please send some tips as to how I can fix this!

    Hello Atul -
i am having similar printing issues with Acrobat 10.1.4.
in my case both PDFs made by me (from InDesign files) and other PDFs made elsewhere and sent to me are missing text when printed to paper -though they look fine both on-screen and in the preview pane, as Katy noted above.
these PDFs print fine when i open and print from an older version of Acrobat (9.5.2).
they will also print fine from 10.1.4 if i send them to another printer in the office, (a Dell Color Laser 3110cn), the printer i have a problem with is a Kyocera Mita KM-5053 - which leads me to believe that this is some kind of communication error between Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.4 and this printer, or perhaps a driver issue. ?
I don't believe it's merely a preferences/print settings problem as i've gone pretty carefully through all the dialog boxes that seem relevant and have had no luck in solving the problem. Also, the text that's missing seems arbitraty - meaning, it's not merely hyperlinks or certain layers or text in specific type faces that won't print -it's content in the same text box, where other text does print, and it's blacks and colors and various point sizes - in short there are no easily discernable unifying circumstances among the text that does not print.
obvioulsy an easy work around is to just print to the other printer or use the older version of Acrobat, but my concern is more that other people may be experiencing the same issues with PDFs i send them. so if it is a problem in the way i'm generating PDFs (although, as i said, text is also missing from PDFs i have received from other people and printed) i'd like to fix it quickly, so that people trying to print my PDFs don't end up with critical content missing.
i'm on a 2008 MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5, and using the Acrobat (X Pro v 10.1.4) that came with the CS6 Design & Web Premium package - although i'm looking at it online now and it's listed as Acrobat XI Pro..
any input you have would be much appreciated.
    thank you,
    bethany

  • Quark / PDF Printing Problems (Save as PDF in OS X)

I upgraded from Quark 4.1 to 6.5 about a year ago, and ever since then the files I create and print don't look as good. The primary issue seems to be color -- colors don't come out as deep, there seems to be less color saturation, sometimes colors are just pretty far off. I'm working in Mac OS 10.4.8.
For many years my method has been to design documents and output as PDFs to be professionally printed. These days my PDFs don't print as well. I suspect that the problem has to do with the process of creating the PDF. In Quark 6.5 I create PDFs by selecting "Save as PDF" from Quark's Print menu. Back when I was using 4.1, since Quark didn't have a built-in PDF-creator, I would go into the Chooser, select AdobePS as my printer, and then just choose Print in Quark and it would "print" to a PDF.
One other problem I've had since the upgrade is that the PDFs Quark creates are HUGE files -- tens or hundreds of megs -- often too large to email. When I used to create PDFs from the identical Quark files using 4.1, the resulting PDFs printed much better and were much smaller files (often far less than 1 meg). Solving the color problem is a higher priority for me than solving the file size issue, though.
I've spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot this with our local printer here in Albany, NY (the same guy who printed my stuff in the old days, when it came out looking a lot better). Things we've tried that haven't seemed to solve the problem:
    - Increasing the LPI to 300
    - Checking the box for Full Resolution Tiff Output
    - Experimenting with OPI active and not
    - Experimenting with different PDF options like "Save as PDF," "Compress PDF," "PDF-X," etc. (Compress PDF does result in smaller PDFs, but the quality of the resulting prints is even worse)
Also, if anyone has suggestions about Quark-specific forums I could post this to, let me know. I tried creating an account on the discussion forms on Quark's website, but I don't receive their confirmation email to confirm my account.
Any advice greatly appreciated -- thanks so much!

    Marshall,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
colin clarke1’s info is spot on. I will add a bit more. Acrobat Professional includes Distiller in addition to a print driver called Adobe PDF 7.0 (version number matches version of Acrobat). I think the print driver installs automatically, but if not, you should choose to install it and then it will show in your list of printers. This will allow you to make PDFs from Quark XPress much as you did with Quark 4.1.
Distiller comes with some pre-defined Settings (formerly know as Job Options) for different types of printing, i.e., Smallest file (low-resolution like online viewing), Standard, High Quality, Press Quality and others. These Settings are general standards in the industry in terms amount and type of image compression, font embedding, color management, compatibility with previous Acrobat versions and etc.
colin clarke1’s method of saving a Quark doc as a PostScript and then distilling it is one method. (You can set this in your Quark Preferences.) Alternatively, you could do the following within Quark XPress…
    (a) Select Print, which brings up the Print window. At the bottom of the window are some buttons. Click on Page Setup and in its window, for Format for: select the Adobe PDF 7/8, the appropriate Paper size and then OK.
    (b) Returning to the Quark print window, make all the necessary choices for Layout, Setup, Output, Options, Layers, Bleed, OPI and Profiles.
    (c) Next, click on the button Printer (at the bottom) which brings up a Mac OS print window. Click to the right of Printer and select Adobe PDF 7/8. Next, click and hold on Copies & Pages for a drop-down list of options and select PDF Options. Click on the bar to the right of Adobe PDF Settings and a list of Distiller Settings will pop up and select the one that best fit the type of printing you are doing, e.g., Press Quality. If you want to see the PDF version afterwards, then select Acrobat for After PDF Creation. Click Ok.
    (d) Returning to the Quark print window, click Print button (lower right). A Save window appears for you to name your document and select where you wish to save in on your computer. (If you choose to see the PDF afterwards, then Acobat will launch and the PDF will then appear in Acrobat.)
You could learn more about the latest version of Acrobat 8.0 (released November 2006) by Adobe’s “tour” at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/productinfo/features/
    Hope this helps.

  • Printing from the Word to the pdf printer,

Printing from the Word to the pdf printer,
I wanted to print a Word document using the pdf printer but sounds this printer doesn’t provide a dialogue box to choose where to save the printed pdf file. It prints the document but couldn’t know where does the acrobat stick it!
    What might be the problem?
Is there some option that controls this behaviour?
    Thank you for the help,

If you select the properties (or preferences) when right clicking on the Adobe PDF printer, there is a Settings tab (if not select the Advanced button on the general tab) and select the settings tab. There are selections there for requestion the file name and other items related to PDF creation. Sorry if my selections are not clear, I am on the wrong computer to check the correct selections for you, so give it a shot and try various selections until you find the settings.

  • Acrobat 7.0 Pro pdf printer does not populate? Error says printer port.

I got a new computer and was installing Creative Suite & Acrobat pro and the Adobe PDF printer does not show up in the Printers. I downloaded the upgrade and Windows says it cannot install.
I am running Windows 7 Pro

Two parts of AA 7 will not install on Win 7 (32 or 64-bit): the Adobe PDF printer and AcroTray.exe. You can install a separate color PS printer (either one from Adobe or possibly one for an HP color PS printer), change the name to Adobe PDF and change the port to FILE. That should do the job, but you will ALWAYS have an extra step in the creation of a PDF. You will have to print to the printer and a PS file will be created (probably with a PRN extension). You then have to open that file in Distiller to create a PDF. From my brief testing, this process will work and the rest of Acrobat and Distiller seem to work (though I did not test extensively). If this is unacceptable to you, then purchase AA XI (upgrade not available from AA 7).
