  • I can not use the Acrobat DC Cloud. How do I get an Acrobat PDF Reader that does not use the Cloud?

The subject pretty much says it all.
I can not save sensitive corporate files on your Cloud.
Even for non-sensitive PDFs, I do not always have access to the cloud when I need to view or work with a PDF.
I need a non-cloud version of Acrobat Reader.
When Reader DC installed onto my system it must have blown away Reader XI.
After I uninstalled Reader DC, now I can't open/read PDFs anymore.
Also, I can't find a copy of Adobe Acrobat to install that isn't cloud dependent.
This is a problem for me.
Besides all that, NOW I get error messages every time I try to re-install Reader DC.
    See below.
So, today at work, I can no longer open PDFs.
    Thanks? NOT!
    HELP!

Here, I finally have a solution.
    Gotta love Google.
More helpful than Adobe so far.
Note: Clicking on the link below will immediately open the download dialogue box.
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.1/en_US/AdbeRdr1011_en_US.exe
I used this download to install, and the Installer was flawless.
Thanks everyone who contributed ideas and potential solutions.

That's a comment in the file. It has no effect at all.

  • Macbook Pro failing hard drive - visited Genius but haven't received follow-up support - details inside

I received my Macbook Pro a week ago, July 24th as a gift. Since then, I've been having prominent clicking noises and beeps coming from the right side of the laptop. I took the Macbook Pro to an appointment with a Genius at the Apple Store yesterday, July 30th, and he confirmed that the problem was a bad hard drive. He told me that he could just replace the hard drive right then and there, or I could just get a whole new replacement Macbook Pro since it was so recently bought. I chose the replacement and he informed me that an email would come soon in the form of a voucher, in which I would call Apple and also use the Apple Online Store to order the new one.
I still have not received an email about the replacement, or any email in general from Apple. The clicks and beeps are becoming more apparent, and I fear that the Macbook will fail soon, which would be inconvenient as I will be moving to a new residence quite soon. I know sooner or later this will be fixed, but I strongly hoped sooner than later.
Any advice, insights, comments? Thanks for your time.
TL;DR: Failing hard drive, taken to Genius, getting an email regarding a replacement, haven't gotten the email, laptop is dying as I am moving.

Thanks for the very quick reply,
I failed to mention that the gift Macbook Pro is a refurbished Late 2011 Macbook Pro 15". That's why the only two options was hard drive replacement or full replacement. I took the full replacement option both prevent any accidental and unneeded scuffs that might happen during a possibly rushed procedure and to in general take advantage of any replacement I can get.
Lastly, the largest problem in the end is that the nearest Apple Store (and only Apple Store) in my current state is two-and-a-half hours away from me (Iowa). Luckily I had other business to attend to and the Apple Store was nearby.
Again, thank you for your advice, if it does end up me having to go back there, I will be able to visit next Monday, as it is en route to my moving destination near Seattle.

  • Is the Up-To-Date Mountain Lion program down? I haven't received an email yet.

I submitted my form, and haven't gotten any confirmation or email code. Is the server down?

Try taking your question to the new Mountain Lion forum. As teach5 notes, the experts are saying that it will take up to 72 hours to receive an email with your redemption code. Sorry if that's true but it's not like you won't get what was promised - just a bit later than those who purchaed it.

  • Adobe Reader / Pro XI bug with PDF as embedded object in Microsoft Excel

We are using Adobe Reader and Adobe Pro version 11.0.06, Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, with a mixture of MS Office 2010 and 2013.
We have been able to reproduce a bug using Reader/Pro together with Excel, where Reader/Pro freezes when we preform the following tasks.
Open an Excel file where a PDF file is attached as an object in the spreadsheet
Double click and open the PDF file attached, PDF is opened in Adobe Reader/Pro
From Adobe Reader/Pro, click on the document on the Page Thumbnails, scroll the document up and down for a few times
Close the Adobe Reader/Pro, it freezes and the adobe process is starting to consume the system memory
This problem is happening on multiple machines with Adobe Reader/Pro 11.0.06 installed, regardless of the Office version and is reproducible. We did not see such issue on Adobe X.
Is there anyone reported the same?

    Hello,
I know this problem was reported many months ago, but I am also experiencing this exact same issue, and have found no resolution to it yet. My user has a simple PDF embedded into an Excel 2010 document. Double click the PDF and it opens properly in Acrobat. If I close Acrobat, Excel freezes in the background (not responding). I have to force quit Excel to get back to Excel.
Also, if I double click on Acrobat again to re-open the application, it won't open. If I check Task Manager after Excel crashes, I can see that Acrobat.exe is still running in memory, and I have to force-quit it before I can re-open Acorbat.
    Any progress on this issue?

  • Shouldn't a PDF reader on mobile devices by Adobe be the best?

I would have thought that of all the apps on mobile devices that can read and display PDF documents a PDF Reader by Adobe would be the best one out there. Instead it seems little better than average. It is still the best one I have found but... As I have looked through the list of discussions on this forum it looks like many topics have gone unanswered. And those that have been answered only a few responses are given. What is going on with the development?
Tagged PDF documents work okay on my Samsung Galaxy tab but I want to be able to do more with PDF documents than just open and read them.
Use bookmarks to navigate easily through a document
Use hyperlinks to navigate easily through a document
When I'm prepareing to teach a lesson I typically add notes in the margins and highlight text in the hard copy of the lesson manual. I would like to do the same in the PDF version of the manual.
One small advantage of a PDF document over epub is when when I tell someone or someone tells me to go to a certain page in book or manual or lesson book to follow along nothing work better than a PDF.
I was told recently that folks in another country use an iOS or Android device to view our PDFs more so than desktop units. So where is the development going with Adobe Reader for Android for example? At the rate technology changes these days it doesn't seem like anything is really moving forward.

This new version is much better. Thanks to the everyone working on the best PDF reader out there. So far as I have tested it on my Galaxy Tab it works fine except for one freeze up. I even installed it on my wife's iPad and she seems to be impressed. This is a big and for me long awaited improvement. Thanks Dov for giveing my patience level a boost. Now I just have to play around with it some more and see what needs to be tweeked and added.

  • The current 19.0.2 update says it contains a built-in pdf reader. I have one I like. How do I get the update w/o the pdf reader?

The title says it all. I do not need a different or another pdf reader. I would like the rest of the 19.0.2 update though. Is there anyway not to have to DL the Mozilla pdf reader? If not, if one downloads it, is it possible to use an uninstall of some sort to remove it?
And the next Q I have is, if there is no way to do the above and I skip 19.0.2, will the next upgrade force the pdf reader on me as well? Or will waiting help in that respect?

Current Firefox versions have enabled a new build-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all the features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have.
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.

You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options > Applications".

  • Scam email: Adobe-Reader-Pro

A variation on an old scam was received this morning by the company that I work for.  At first glance it looks genuine by its simplicity but has anyone ever heard of Adobe Reader Pro?  There is the official looking logo and even an address in California but simple checks can confirm the scam. I am told that clicking on the links will result in a bunch of malware being installed into your computer.  Below is the text from the message received this morning:
ADOBE PDF READER  SOFTWARE UPGRADE NOTIFICATION
This is to remind that a  new version of Adobe Acrobat Reader with enhanced features for viewing,  creating, editing, printing and internet-sharing PDF documents has been  released.

  • Disappointed: Empower E-mail Reader PRO Tech Support

I just wanted to say how disappointed I am with Empower's Technical Support for their E-mail Reader "PRO" (and I use the term loosely) software. I downloaded the trial version, really liked it and immediately purchased the full version for $29.99. I received no key, no SN, no PW. But they took my $$$. Now I can't upgrade from the trial to the full version and Tech support has been totally worthless on the issue. It's obvious I don't have their attention. I purchased their software after reading many posts which rated the software highly as well as the tech support. Unfortunately, that didn't happen for me. As soon as the trial version expires (and who knows when that will be) I'm going to delete it and purchase BBSmart like I should have done in the first place! Really, really disappointed but that's just my opinion.

Update: Everyone is always quick to say when they're not happy. We also need to be just as quick to congratulate when we ARE happy. Empower's Tech Team did come through.  They found a way for me to manually register the software and inside of 30 seconds it was done.  So Kudos to the Team and thank you.

  • Anytime I click on a .pdf I am asked to save the document rather than allowing me to just view it.

Anytime I click on a link to a .pdf I am asked to save the document. I would like to simply view most. I have been unable to determine how to change this. I am not sure whether it is a setting in Firefox, Acrobat, or my system. In the dialogue box that asks whether I would like to open or save the file, I had checked the box indicating that the files should always be opened, but this did not happen. It kept asking whether to "open file" or "save file." Then I had a file I wanted to save, so I clicked that radio button and saved that file. Now, it will no longer allow me to open files.
    Thanks for your help...

Please update to the most recent version of Firefox:
*[[Update Firefox to the latest version]]

    Or set it as default:
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and click Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac).
#In the Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac) window, select the ''Applications'' panel.

  • Hi , Is there a PDF Reader provided for QNX RTOS.

    Hi ,
Is there a PDF Acrobat Reader avilable  for QNX RTOS .

Adobe does not provide custom software.
Any third-party developer with sufficient skill can develop their own PDF reading application in compliance with the ISO PDF standard, but Adobe will not provide any support.

I am using Firefox 34.0 and Foxit PDF Reader 7.0.6.1126.
