Pdf refresh very slowly

I have a problem with the size of the pdf and the refresh time.
The size of the pdf is 300KB (2 pages) empty and with all the data loaded 2'5MB (6 pages).
When I make an action on the pdf the response time oscillates between 15 - 20 seconds. Is this normal? someone has the same problem?
The pdf is very complex, and has a lot of operations.
I'have changed the font, and now it's better (before, the response time was 20 - 40 seconds). But I need to reduce this time to 5 seconds (+ -).
Any idea? It could be the pdf structure (form, subform anidation? ), the use of the event calculate?, its better use dymanic or static load for a list?
I need help to improve the pdf speed!
Thanks a lot!

On my form I use this attribute, but I use it only on the load action. And all the actions takes +- the same time.
I would like to know what is better:
*Is better duplicate an instance dynamically? Or have two instances predefined?
*I make a lot of routes for all the form, and count many times the number of instances of one element.
I have 2 documents:
designer_performance_1_0.pdf
forms_performance.pdf
but I don't know exactly how to apply it!
Thanks!

  • After updating to Acrobat PRO 9.5.2 PDFs open VERY Slowly

I am using Acrobat PRO on a workstation (Windows 7 Ultimate - Service Pack 1)
After updating to Acrobat PRO 9.5.2, all pdf files open VERY slowly (30-60 secs). It does not appear to matter if the file is local to the workstation or on the network. Also the size of the file does not seem to matter or whether this is the first file opened or a subsequent file.
In addition just opening Adobe Acrobat is equally slow.
I have tried turning off the anti-virus software. No impact.
    Any suggestions appreciated...

Have you tried "Repair Acrobat Installation" to see if it makes any difference?  To do this try this:
    Help >> Repair Acrobat Installation.
Another option is to press the shift key while clicking or double clicking on the PDF file to open.  this stops loading all the useless fonts in the document and other useless plugins in acrobat.
The third option is to delete the registry key that appears to be corrupted . However, if you nothing about registry keys, then you can't do it unless your company systems people can help you.  The registry entries are:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Adobe \ Acrobat Reader
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Adobe \ Adobe Acrobat
It is a question of renaming them while you have exited from acrobat.  Once this is done, restart the system and start/launch the acrobat and the fresh keys will be generated.  PLEASE NOTE: DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE THE HELP OF YOUR SYSTEMS PEOPLE IN YOUR COMPANY.
    Hope this helps.

  • PeView open large pdf File very slowly!

I have a pdf file with 422M,On the OS 10.9 preview it very easy, very fast and no noise with fan.
when updated OS 10.10,preview it very slowly, the fan more fast and more noise, why? it's back!

Reader is a pretty good tool, but it isn't designed to check validity specifically; then again, nor is anything else.
Can you share the URL of the file?

  • Framemaker 10 prints very slowly to pdf

I am running win64 and do a lot of pdf generation in FrameMaker 10 using the Acrobat X printer driver. But printing to pdf is very slow. I have tried whatever suggestions I could find in groups. Setting the printer driver to  file did not help. Juggling PDF verision compatibility did not help either. I cannot change resolution because the results may become too low rez.
My  book files consists of some fifty pages with each an externally linked pdf file. The pdf file links are cad drawings and they can be pretty complex. I usually save the linked pdf files with pdf optimized in order to make the files lighter.
But still ... printing to pdf takes around 15 minutes. I was wondering wether there are any other ways of speeding up the process besides adjusting settings in the printing process. Is it possible to assign more processors or more ram for instance ?
    regards
    Bjørn

Check your printer driver settings. The tips below were posted by Dov Isaacs, PDF expert at Adobe, many years ago, but some of them may still be valid.
    Printer driver instance:
    Properties => Advanced (tab)
Change "Print directly to the printer" to
"Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster"
with "Start printing after last page is spooled" (**)
Why? Speeds up spooling process dramatically!
Properties => Advanced (tab) => Printing Defaults ... (button) => Layout (tab) => Advanced (button)
Open trees and make sure that the following are set
(other options leave at original default settings):
                     Graphic => Print Quality => 600dpi
Why? Gets around known Windows 2000/XP GDI bug associated
with large point size & high resolution text being converted
to outlines. Also gets around FrameMaker bug associated with
higher resolution settings in combination with large page sizes
(similar bug in other applications as well). Using this setting
does not restrict the resolution at which the PDF file can
print and has no known bad effects.
Graphic => TrueType Font => Download as Softfont (*)
Why? Turns off damnable font substitution mechanism.
Document Options => PostScript Options =>
TrueType Font Download Option => Native TrueType (*)
Why? Assures that proper font type is selected, even if not
embedded in job stream at this point. "Automatic" should work,
                     but this is explicit.
Properties => Advanced (tab) => Printing Defaults ... (button) => Adobe PDF Settings (tab)
             Choose appropriate joboptions
             Check ALL the boxes.
Why? Best options for making sure that the correct fonts are
embedded properly in the PDF file, that you are properly prompted
for location of the PDF file being produced, that you are warned
if overwriting an existing PDF file, and to display the resultant
PDF file delete the log file if and only if the distillation is
             successful.
Properties => General (tab) => Printing Preferences ... (button) => Layout (tab) => Advanced (button)
Open trees and make sure that the following are set
(other options leave at original default settings):

    Properties => Device Settings (tab)
Open trees and make sure that the following are set
(other options leave at original default settings):
                     Output Protocol => Binary
Why? Much more efficient than ASCII, PostScript file size
reduced by up to 30 to 40% (your mileage may vary!).
Sent CTRL-D Before Each Job => No
Sent CTRL-D After Each Job => No
Why? CTRL-D is inconsistent with binary PostScript interpreters
even though Distiller has hackery to try getting around such
                     spurious characters.
Convert Gray Text to PostScript Gray => Yes (*)
Convert Gray Graphics to PostScript Gray => Yes (*)
Why? Normally, black and grayscale text and vector artwork
is output as RGB values. These options convert any R=G=B text
and vector artwork to PostScript grayscale. This is much more
efficient and can avoid improper "rich black" syndrome on
                     certain PostScript color output devices.
Add Euro Currency Symbol to PostScript Fonts => Yes (*)
                     Job Timeout => 0 (*)
                     Wait Timeout => 0 (*)
Why? This eliminates the possibility of jobs being prematurely
terminated if some other task on your computer hiccups too
                     badly for too long.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.1 loads pages very slowly with Windows XP 64 bit version

Our company has purchased Dell Precision T3500 workstations with Intel XEON processor and 6 Gb of RAM. The operating system is Windows XP 64-bit version. The systems came with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.1. Each one of these workstations load PDF files into Acrobat very slowly. Does anyone have a answer why?

    1.  Download the Windows AMD64 Drivers available here:
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?series=16&Software=True
    2.  Extract the files in the archive to somewhere like c:\win64drivers\ethernet
    3.  Once inside Win XP 64, do the following:
    a.  Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
    b.  Go down to the "Other Devices" section (they'll have yellow ?'s)
    c.  Right click on the ethernet controller and click "Update Driver"
    d.  Click "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
    e.  Click "Dont search.  I will choose the driver to install."
    f.  Double click the "Network Adapter" entry, and then click "Have Disk..."
    g.  Select the directory which you extracted the driver files to
    i.  You will get messages saying that Windows cannot verify that the driver matches your hardware, and that the driver is not WHQL certified.  Ignore these and click "Continue"/"Install Anyways" and your RealTek RTL8169/8110 ethernet adapter will spring to life
after i have done this the pc just stops. and if i reboot it stops at the loading screen :/ can you tell me whats wrong i got a k8t neo serie card and windows 64 bit edition
edit: i did it :D works now

  • Report is generating very slowly

Hi all, my crystal report is generating very very slowly my report is having many sub reports inside it as well,
see the time difference in the following lines that comes out while generating the report from my Application, please comment how can i solve this
    03/26/2014 06:03:47 PM ... Process({User I/F} Priority: 4, user interface)
a RDCReport is getting OLE property "SQLQueryString" with arguments: ()
    03/26/2014 06:07:38 PM ... Process({User I/F} Priority: 4, user interface)
Get OLE Property "SQLQueryString" returned: SELECT "TABLE"."COLUMNS" .................... long long query here
No functions or cursors have applied in crystal report but still it is taking too long to generate

    hi Muhammad,
what happens if you run the report in the report designer, i.e. crw32?
i would suggest looking at your subreports as running a lot of details level subs in a report is going to be slow. if you've got subs on the details level, one query will be run per subreport on each record, which will eat up a lot of processing.
sometimes subreports can be eliminated as well...for example, if your subreport contains the same tables as your main report, you can get rid of a subreport and substitute it for a cross-tab if you're only showing data in tabular format.
try suppressing all of your subreports as well, and then un-suppress them one at a time, refreshing the report each time a subreport is unsuppressed. perhaps there is one particular subreport that is a problem.
if you only find that your subreport is slow in your application, please post a new discussion to the crystal reports for visual studio forum.

  • IBooks Author: in exported file, one page loads very slowly...

iBooks Author: in exported file, one page loads very slowly and drags when scrolling through pages, almost stopping the scroll.  I have never seen this problem before with photo pages.  Normally they scroll just as smoothly as text pages.
I have tried rebuilding the page with more compressed files to no avail.  The image files used on the page are not any bigger than others I have used previously without any problem.
I have tried restarting my iBook.
I am using a template that I have modified quite a bit.  The templates currently offered by Apple and third parties are not even close to what I am looking for in terms of layout, so I have to rip almost everything out of the page and start with a blank page, most of the time.  I tried modyfying the layouts to save time and then saved as a new template.  Apple really needs to add a module to create your own template at the beginning of a project.  Or they need to create one very open template, without much on the pages.

I finally solved the problem by using an unmodified template. I would still like to know how my modifications to the other template caused the problem, but for now it remains a mystery.  Thanks for your ideas.
Next I will try modifying the template without saving it as a template (merely saving it as a file) to see if I can get away with my modifications.  Also I will make fewer modifications.
Slowly but surely I am learning this program by trial and error.  Each time I try a few formatting variations, output an iBooks file, and open it on my iPad.  I have probably done 20 of these tests, so far.  Once I work out every detail of the design and structure, I will build the final book.  I am lucky to have a beautiful PDF of the hardcover version, generously provided by my publisher.  This not only sets a high bar for me, but also allows me to use some of their design elements via screen capture.
iBooks Author has great potential, but I along way to go to get there. One feature I would really like to see in the next update: the ability to add a hidden caption to a photo.  The reader would tap the image and the caption would appear. Tap again and it disappears.

  • IPhoto 6.06 Update running very slowly

I updated my iPhoto to the latest version and now it is running very slowly. Imports of 20 photos take in excess of 1/2 hour. I'm also using backup and I noticed that my iLife backup is also running very slowly since my update of iPhoto. I also noticed that when I browse my photos, the latest photos imported show up as dashed lines with titles, but no photos. If I double click the dashed outline, my photo shows up in single browse mode. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to revert back to the older version and still save my photos? Thanks in advance for any insight.

    Steve:
The gray background with dotted lines are due to iPhoto losing the link to the large files. Try rebuilding the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three option.
Also download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administartive name in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Ical runs very slowly

iCal 3.0.7, MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.7 — Recently iCal runs very slowly, like 20 to 30 times slower than it used to. Can get coffee and donut from downstairs before it will change to another month, enter an event, etc. Ran disk repair and permissions repair, but it still runs slowly. Is there a way to reinstall iCal or some other way to get it running as fast as it used to?

    Jon,
Try moving the "Calendar Cache" file to your Desktop. Quit iCal, and find the "Calendar Cache" file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars. Move that file to your Desktop, and log out/in or restart.
If that is unsuccessful, "refresh" the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the .plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.
Are you syncing any data? If so, what method(s) are you using?
    ;~)

  • IPhoto working very slowly

iPhoto is now working very slowly. Any editing move, keyword, or any other action, starts the ball moving and takes quite a while before the action is done. And often the program stalls and I have to force a close.
I have rebuilt (command - option) and I had previously used iPhoto Library Manager to make a new library.
Is it possible that the actual iPhoto program has a corruption in it? If so, how can I fix it?
    Any other suggestions?
    Asuch

When iPLM is finished go to your User/Library/Caches folder and empty the folder named "com.apple.iPhoto". Then reboot and try iPhoto again.
How much free space do you have on your boot drive? It's recommended that a minimum of 10 GB is maintained for optimal system and application performance. If you use iDVD regularly 25 GB free space is recommended.
Also I'd delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and then reset the various iPhoto preferences when you next relaunch iPhoto.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.
