PDF report hangs

Hi,
I installed the apex3.2 on oracle10gR2 database and configure the oracle HTTP server to run the apex application and it is running fine , now I downloaded the apache tomcat+cocoon+ fop_post and installed it, the sample pdf reports in cocoon directories are running fine but when I call the pdf report from the apex forms it shows the progress in the browser but it hangs for the undefinite time untill i have to cancel the report, no error is displayed in the browser but the progress stops in the half. so can somebody suggest me the solution for this so that i can run the pdf reports from apex.

Hi,
The report is returning the data in the web page, and in the Instance settings the Standard Report option is selected and IP,PORT & /cocoon/fop_post has been configured. In the Report Print Attributes the Report Printing is set to YES, Output format PDF. when we run the page the report is displayed on the webpage but when the print link is clicked the progress starts but no report or error is displayed.

Storing oracle-reports generated pdf-report onto a blob

Hey ppl,
I have this requirement:
I basically generate a report from Jdev using a remote servlet call to oracle reports, which very neatly generates the pdf document for me and stores it locally. The problem is immediately storing this onto the DB as a blob once the report is generated. I know how to store the pdf as a blob onto the DB. I know how to make the call to oracle-reports and generate my pdf. What I don't know is to sequentially first generate the local pdf report and only once that has been generated proceed to store it onto my DB.
I want it to be done within the scope of a single request. As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle. I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
As soon as the report has been requested by the user, I want the pdf file(which is generated by the reports) to also be stored onto the DB.
My problem (which i apologize has been repeated already 2wice above) is that I basically lose control once redirected through the servlet to the report call. There is no way i can instruct Jdev, from the reports side, that the pdf has been generated and now has to be stored onto the DB, as i have lost the session context by redirecting to a different servlet.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

its quite some time ago that I a looked Oracle Reports, however, I think that the event mechanism is quite complex to achieve
I want it to be done within the scope of a single request.
Which means that if Oracle Reports hangs, the user session follows.
As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle.
Unfortunately you don't control how long reports run, which means that there is no sense in stopping the page lifecycle for this
I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
Fair enough, but as far as I remember there is an eventing in Reports that would allow you to have the Oracle Reports Server triggering the upload
So I think, the architecture I would go for is:
- user requests report
- report generates PDF output
- reports uploads to DB
- reports_processing table holds user ID and reports ID plus flag to update when report is done
- If using JSF, you could use af:poll to check frequently for the report to be finished.

Crystal Reports Hangs on .Load event

Hi ,
We are using CR 2011 on Windows environment (2008 R2) and run the following workflow.
1. We have created a rpt with 9 sub reports.
2. We would like to print the port to a particular printer and hence have set the flag <NO Printer> on the report
3. The application is a windows based application and not a web based application.
4. We have tested the report by launching the report and printing it on the desired printer.
5. We have a windows service that executes the code of reading the report and printing it out as a pdf / printer.
6. Step 4 is an event based activity that occurs as frequently as every 2 minutes.
7. The database is Oracle 11g
PROBLEM:
1. Generally all runs well, however once / twice a day the report hangs.
2. We have created a dump file and observed that the hang occurs on .LOAD event.
3. We are using the .LOAD with a single parameter that of the report name.
4. We also observed that the spooler service hangs
5. We are disposing the report immediately after printing it.
After the problem occurs we are forced to start the windows service and the printer spooler service.
Solutions tried so far:
1. Changing the No Printer flag did not give any results.
2. We have created a job that restarts the windows service and the spooler service after a period of 30 mins. - This has minimized the occurances but not eliminated the problem.
Pseudo code:

Our customers are really suffering cause of this and any help would be really appreciated.

As we can see there is a OutOfMemory exception followed by a Stack Overflow exception and then we have the CrstalReports function calls.

Openscript is not recording Peoplesoft PDF Reports

    Hi i am using ATS 12.2.0.1 Build 288 for load testing of Peoplesoft 9.2. ATS is much improved in record, playback and correlation of peoplesoft scripts.
    But now i am facing a problem in recording of peoplesoft PDF reports, while recording it is not identifying the PDF report which is open up in a new window?
when i am clicking on the report tab it will navigate to the report window and there it will hang and won't show the report. but if i am doing these steps manually without
recording it is working.Can any one suggest me how to solve this?

     OATS 12.3 is available now. You can use apache pdfbox packages. Using pdfbox jar files you can save pdf shown in web page to local machine and read/extract contents of pdf with the help of same packages.

9i Reports hangs

We've successfully installed 9iAS Release 2 and Report 9i Server on Solaris 8. Then I called :

3. When I call test.rdf, I dont get any mistakes, but report hangs.
We figure out the problem is : Oracle 9iASR2 doesn't have a built-in
that was in 9iASR1 - vncserver.Uur production environment is built on SunFire v880 servers (over $250k) that do not have any video adapters natively. They require a product like vncserver or exceed to
redirect the DISPLAY into. Even if we use the exceed to start the reports server, if the exceed session closes, any reports return an Oracle-Toolkit error.
We heard, Solaris 9 is supporting vncserver.
Does anybody solved this problem ?

2) If it is already so, then remove PC Anywhere related PATH elements from SYSTEM PATH and try

Why my pdf is hanged to my mouse

Good evening,
I have trange issue, Two colleague told me, some time when they move a pdf to an adob application (to open it), the pdf stay hanged to the mouse.
It does not open but follow the mouse. It's trange. It does not happen all the time and I am not each day to her office, si I could not see the problem. But they reported it to me several time.
I have no idea why it happen. Did you have an experience with this?

It sounds like they somehow accidentally activated some feature of the Accessibility (Universal Access) System Preference. Have them open the Accessibilty System Preferences and check the Mouse & Trackpad section to see if Mouse Keys is checked, or Switch Control, or Keyboard's Sticky Keys or Slow Keys.

Oracle Reports - PDF report

I have a PDF report designed using oracle report builder 6i. This report has a margin that prints the total of all the quantities to be ordered via a QUOTE. If this report prints beyond one page, then the total will print on all the pages. Users do not want to see the total on all the pages but only on the last page. I really need to keep these total fields on the MARGIN section of the layout. Is there any way, i can still keep these fields on the margin and print them only on the last page of the report? The report builder do not let me set the 'print condition' as the 'last page' because it is in the margin section. Any idea on this issue??

I would create a trigger for your MARGIN totals so they print only on the last page.
Have the trigger return TRUE if current page = total pages, else return FALSE.
This will make sure your margin totals are only visible on the last page.

The above code executes well with no problem at all!
As you can see the file to which i create and save and open my pdf report is
AssignedDialyzer.pdf.
The column headers of table in pdf report from c# windows forms using iTextSharp are
"Reprocessing Date","Patient Name","Dialyzer(Manufacturer,Size)","No.of Reuse","Verification" and
"DialyzerID".
However the problem i am facing is after execution and opening of document is my
column headers in table in pdf report from
c# and datas in it all appear in bold.
I have browsed through net regarding to solve this problem but with no success.
What i want is my pdf report from c# should be similar to following format which i was able to accomplish in vb6,adodb with MS access using iTextSharp.:

I have Adobe Forms Central and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installed on my machine.
I would like to know if its possible to make a pdf report.

Report Logo - Displays on HTML, not on PDF report

Hello once again Gurus.
We have a system environment setup where we have BI Publisher Enterprise and Apex 3.1.2 talking together to create PDF reports on a Oracle 10g database (R2 I think, I'm uncertain). As part of a business requirement, depending on what project you are looking at within our apex application, when printing a report you see a logo specific to the project. We have already developed this using a RTF template with a dummy image embedded, and +url:{concat(.//URL,.//PROJECT_ID)}+ in the Alternative Text field of the Web tab of the Format Picture dialogue.
This worked fine when using the RTF templates as Report Layouts within Apex and as templates within a BI Publisher report.
However, now logos aren't appearing.
I am not sure if we have upgraded the version of BI Publisher, but we are running Apex 3.1.2.00.02 on Dev and Apex 3.1.1.00.09 on test and prod, however none of these environments are outputting logos in the PDF reports.
Curiously, if I go into the BI Publisher interface and ask for the report to be outputted as HTML, the image shows. Running the HTML version of the report from Apex also shows the logo -- but the logo isn't showing in the PDF reports.
As I continue trouble shooting, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone could give us any insight on this, it would be appriciated.
I'm unsure if its a permissions problem with the PDF seeing the image, or something related to server setup. We currently have a redirect in place to production that doesn't include the :7777 in the URL, and for some reason, if the G_URL for the image is changed to this portless URL, the image is embedded. However, this redirect was in place for another application, and will soon be locked down, so is not available for a long term solution to this problem

I thought I'd report this here, as we are having a BI Publisher error, and I'm not getting any help on the Apex subforum.
+We have a system environment setup where we have BI Publisher Enterprise and Apex 3.1.2 talking together to create PDF reports on a Oracle 10g database (R2 I think, I'm uncertain). As part of a business requirement, depending on what project you are looking at within our apex application, when printing a report you see a logo specific to the project. We have already developed this using a RTF template with a dummy image embedded, and url:{concat(.//URL,.//PROJECT_ID)} in the Alternative Text field of the Web tab of the Format Picture dialogue.+
This worked fine when using the RTF templates as Report Layouts within Apex and as templates within a BI Publisher report.
However, now logos aren't appearing.
We are on BIP 10.1.3.2 according to the Help File, and we are running Apex 3.1.2.00.02 on Dev and Apex 3.1.1.00.09 on test and prod, however none of these environments are outputting logos in the PDF reports.
Curiously, if I go into the BI Publisher interface and ask for the report to be outputted as HTML, the image shows. Running the HTML version of the report from Apex also shows the logo -- but the logo isn't showing in the PDF reports.
As I continue trouble shooting, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone could give us any insight on this, it would be appriciated.
I'm unsure if its a permissions problem with the PDF seeing the image, or something related to server setup. We currently have a redirect in place to production that doesn't include the :7777 in the URL, and for some reason, if the G_URL for the image is changed to this portless URL, the image is embedded. However, this redirect was in place for another application, and will soon be locked down, so is not available for a long term solution to this problem

Custom Filename for PDF Report

Hi,
I have a requirement to download pdf for a report. I provided the download action as a column link on the report. Clicking the link I direct to the URL for the custom report I created (f?p=&APP_ID.:0:&SESSION.:PRINT_REPORT= MyReport). Pdf gets downloaded with the name MyReport.pdf. But I need to provide a custom name for the downloaded pdf, it should be based on the Id value of the report column something like this Emp123.pdf where 123 is the employee Id (selected row's employee id value in my report).
I searched in the forums and came across this thread APEX 3 PDF Report Export Custom Filename? but here its mentioned that
" In this case there's no separate attribute for the file name. And we don't do substitutions on the report query name, so setting the name dynamically as you described in your sample, won't be possible. "
Since the thread is a old one so posting a new one. Any pointers is highly appreciated.

1. Call the report with utl_http.
2. Store the output as a BLOB. Either local variable or store it in a table.
3. Print the blob.

Displaying both Hindi and Arabic numerals in Oracle 10g PDF report

Oracle experts told us to ask “In how many ways we can do it in oracle?” instead of asking “Can we do it in Oracle?” , I need ONE way to solve the following problem, it toke to much time and I don’t know if it can be solved !
The problem:
Can we print in - Oracle 10g reports - a PDF report with BOTH Hindi and Arabic numerals?
Well, at design time everything is fine, you can use right-to-left, left-to-right and the print preview is showing BOTH Hindi/Arabic numerals fine, but when I tried to produce it as a PDF, unfortunately its not, means its either all Hindi or all Arabic numerals !
I tried everything possible, environment variables: NLS_LANG, REPORTS_BIDI_ALGORITHM, and REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERLS, setting Digit substitution to Context in windows regional settings, uifont.ali is modified properly according to metalink note, but nothing solved this issue!
I noticed something, when I used the DESTYPE=printer and DESNAME=PDF995 (one of the PDF printers) , it worked fine , means the problem could be in the generic PDF generator of the Oracle reports server,
But even with PDF995 you still need to feed the file name, which is not suitable for multi-user environment that need the report to be displayed via web browser.
Does anybody face this before?

R12 - How to customize the seeded Purchase Order PDF report

Hi,
We need to customize the layout AND the data of the seeded Purchase Order pdf report that is generated in PO Summary form when user picks drop-down menu Inquire->View Document. I know how to set up the Document Type with a customized layout but I do not know how to update the XML data that feeds the layout.
