PDF's Background Transparent

I just imported a PDF and the white background is appearing transparent in Keynote.
How can I make the background show up as white?
-Kirk

You can put a white square behind it. In many cases PDFs intended for print don't have a background colour specified in the file, and thus to Keynote they appear without a background, which is generally the correct behaviour for PDF graphics, but can be a bit of a pain if it is a page from a document instead. Just adding a white object behind the PDF solves the problem.

  • How do I export a keynote slide to pdf with a transparent background?

I use Keynote for creating figures for a report I'm currently writing and layouting in Adobe InDesign.
Unfortunately I have run in to a quite annoying problem.
Because of the page-layout and background graphics in my main report, I need to be able to export the figures without the white background which comes as standard. I tried to remove the background in "Master & layout" (my Keynote is in Danish, not sure if it's called the same in English), which is suggested to bring background transparency when exporting to Quicktime movies. I doesn't seem to have any effect when exporting to pdf though.
When importing the pdf's into InDesign the figures comes up with a white background instead of the wanted transparent.
My choice of pdf over png is because of the vector graphics.
Is it possible to export to pdf's with a transparent background?

One option would be to export the slides as image files and bring them in Pages in that format.

    Thanks!!!

    Well, now I'm confused <g>.
    Following your directions:

--| selected the text string, right clicked for the context menu, selected "Font"
--| in the Font Dialog, used the "Font color" drop-down to change the font color

--| Word tab: first choice not selected; other two selected

  • Exporting to PDF with Vector/Transparency issues? (huge file)

    Hi folks
I have a 36 page magazine in Indesign which has a lot of illustrator images placed in, some of which have transparency applied.  The images are xmas icons and there are 10 or so on each illustrator file so there are only 3/4 illustrator files placed but they are done many times over within the Indesign file.
When I export to PDF the file size is huge.  154mb.  I am sure it is to do with the vectors/transparency, but dont know how to correct this to bring the PDF file size down.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

To echo Peter's response, 154 MB for a 36 page magazine is not necessarily all that large, especially if the content is graphically rich.
There is some information you are not providing us. For example, how are you bringing in the Illustrator artwork? And with what settings are you exporting PDF?
In the first case, the most efficient way to bring Illustrator content into InDesign is to save the Illustrator artwork as PDF/X-4 and place the resultant file into InDesign. InDesign is more likely to reuse the content for PDF export if the content is placed in that manner.
In the second case, content with transparency can yield very bloated PDF if you export PDF with flattened transparency such as you would get with the PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-3 export settings from InDesign (or for the Illustrator-based imported content, PDF saved from Illustrator with such settings). Again, we recommend PDF/X-4 for PDF export maintaining live transparency and original color spaces with ICC profiles and avoiding the bloat caused by transparency flattening and conversion of RGB to CMYK.

instead of html page, if i put any pdf  file. it is not in background. it comes to the foreground. i don't know how to set pdf as background. please help me

    1. Yes you can load SWF files using Loader and then order that SWF behind or above other display objects. (Although in Flex, I think you would use SWFLoader.) If you load a SWF in an HTML control, it will always be on top.
    2. I'm not sure what you mean by the background of the canvas. The flash display list is a tree. A parent object can have its own graphics (drawn with the graphics drawing API). Any children added to that object will display above these graphics. If you added that parent object to another display container, it (and its children) would display above any lower indexed children of that display container. Thus a canvas has a background rectangle that it draws with the graphics api. Any children you add to it are drawn in index order. The object at index 0 is drawn at the bottom of the visual stack.
    3. No.
    4. Technically you could load the PDF file into memory, parse the file structure and convert what you parsed into ActionScript objects. I suspect that is more work than you want to do.

  • How do I cut out imported objects and make background transparent?

    Illustrator CS3.
I have embedded a jpeg picture which I need to cut out and make the background transparent. How do I do this? An opacity mask? How do I create a mask the same shape as the object I need to cut out? The object needs central pieces cut out too. Please help!

Opacity mask of clipping path are the two ways to do this in Illustrator. Photoshop is the ideal program for this task.

  • Background Transparency?

    Hi all,
I'm working on a game project just now and I'm trying to get
thought bubbles come out of characters' heads. I could do this via
code and drawing a circle at runtime, but I want to be able to
'tart it up' by creating proper nice bubbles using the normal
    drawing tools in flash.
The problem I'm having though is that the stage is always
rectangular and I can't see how to make the background transparent.
Meaning that when I load my thoughtBubbles.swf into my main
movie clips, it comes in with ugly white corners and the whole
    thing just looks daft!
Can anyone help me here? Surely this problem has to have been
    solved a million times?
    Cheers,
    David

  • Setting image background transparent

I want to know how can I set the background of an existing images to transparent. I am a web desginer and currently i want's to change background color of one of my site http://twxdroid.com but here the problem arises that some of my used images background won't match up site background, so someone plz tell me how to change existing image background transparent. I heard about using magic wand selection tool or quick selection tool to make transparent but still can't figure out how to use them.

    • if the Layer is a Background Layer change it to a regular one by double-clicking it
    • make a Selection with whatever Selection Tool is appropriate
    • if you selected the background use Select > Inverse to invert the Selection
    • Layer > Layer Mask > From Transparency
    • if further corrections are needed paint on the Layer Mask – black to hide, white to show the Layer’s content
    • save the layered file as psd, psb or tif
    • File > Save for Web … to save a copy a format that fits your needs (png-24 for example)

  • How can I keep logo background transparent when flattening for web?

Hi, I have a logo designed in Illustrator which I'm bringing into Photoshop to save it for the web. It comes into Photoshop with a transparent background, but when I save it for the web or flatten it, it gets a white background. Can you tell me how to keep the background transparent?

File > save for web (& devices). That will give you the best and smallest web-ready graphics. With save as you're embedding all kinds of info that doesn't need to be in the image. File size can bloat ten-fold quickly. Use save for web.

  • Making the background transparent in export from cinema 4d to AE CC

I'm using Cinema 4D to create a 3d object and then import it into AE CC.  When I import it in, the grey grid in the background is visible. I want to make the background transparent, so that all you can see is the object in AE.  How can I do this?

This is not a matter of transparency. You are seeing what you are seeing because you are looking at the draft software rendering result.
Choose Standard (Final) from the Renderer menu in the Cineware effect.

  • Export and re-import in to project keeping background transparent.

    Hi guys...
I have had some joy and some no so joy... maybe I am doing something wrong..
I have been using a smoke emmitter and "flattened" this and re-imported back into project to save ram or to duplicate the layer (for more smoke) and also again save ram. But sometimes the new import has a transparent background layer sometimes it is black. (Always I set all the other layers to not viewable) I have tried using keying to get rid of the black. But possibly there is a setting to keep any export/import back into project background transparent, if in a group above the bottom one. I am using QT animation setting for exports. DVC PRO HD 1080p
    Thanks.
Cheers for all this great help... invaluable for neubie..

Set your background to transparent (press apple+J to open the window you need) as it may currently be set to "solid" and render the movie out using Animation, as this preset will support transparency. That should do it.

  • Title Background Transparency Doesn't Work

    Hello,
I can't get the title background transparency to work. I'm running Premiere CS6 6.04. Clicking on the background button does nothing. Sometimes, I can randomly change the background settings to get it to become transparent, but that is not working now. Very frustrating.

This is me setting up a title. The cursor is on the spot on the timeline that has a red christmas background. Everything appears normal.
When I close this window, and move the title onto the timeline this happens. I haven't touched anything else (including the cursor location)

  • How to turn logo background transparent?

I need to change the logo background transparent so this logo integrates seamlessly on my website instead of looking like a big black box with a logo in it.
Is it possible to remove the black background from every where except behind the lettering?
    Here is another similar variation:
I dont mind the white letters, but I would want the green glow to be more apparent like the 1st one.
    Ideas?

Is this the look you're going for?
A sample layered psd file with your logo (as pixels; I didn't take the time to redraw it) and Outer Glow layer style, along with several test backgrounds, and the logo itself saved as a .png with transparency can be found here:

  • Background Transparency of a W3D

OK, I have a program where I need the background of my W3D to
be transparent. When I set the DTS to false to make it transparent,
it lags enough to worry me. So, I thought since my W3D object
contains absolutely no animation, I could just use a bitmap in it's

member("3DWorld")). Plan is all good and dandy aside from the fact
that once the bitmap is set to the member of the 3D world, the
beckground reappears. I have the image set to background
transparent too...it must be something to do with the export in

that when I set the bitmap image too, the background remains
transparent. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi. In my old site you´ll find source code for creating
    a backdrop in
the camera so you don´t have to remove the direct to
    stage property and
    lose performance.
