PDF's Defaulting to Photoshop

I cannot create PDF's from InDesign - when exporting, they all default to Photoshop. Even my previous files are defaulting to Photoshop. Why? (I never had this problem until I downloaded updates yesterday)

Claudio,
Thanks for getting back with me. The files are defaulting there - and I have figured out that I just need to go in and manually check that I want to save files as PDF each time before I export (never had to do that before).
My problem now is that I lost my ability to export PDF's with pages flow nicely, one from another. I have to go back in to Adobe Reader to View>Display>and then adjust from there, and it still doesn't look nice.
I'd like to be able to send samples (often booklets) to customer with it all packed, looking nice and easy to follow. Not send out a bunch of tedious instructions - and then the samples still not that great.

  • Error 1324 + PDF's are defaulting to Photoshop CS2

I recently installed a trial version of Photoshop CS2 which was on a disc lent to me. I am now regretting this action because when I go to open a PDF file it defaults to Photoshop instead of Acrobat Reader.
When attempting to un-install this trial version of CS2 I get an error message  "Error 1324. The path 'My Pictures' cantains an invalid character"
Sure would like some help out of this situation.

    Dear John,
Many thanks for your reply to my problem which is occurring when attempting
to open PDF files emailed to me. The email program is MS Outlook 2003 (on
Windows XP) and this is my work computer.
Perhaps the Photoshop CS2 disc may have been corrupted as I have no idea of
its history however I have managed to un-install it and can do without it.
But now I am having difficulty opening PDF files even though I have Acrobat
Reader v8. I am unable to update this to the current v9.0.1 because when I
do, I get this same error message
"Error 1324 The path My Pictures or the volume is invalid. Please enter it
    and try again"
Do I continue to try the fix you suggested or something different. If yes,
can you please explain where I might find 'Folder Options' and 'File Types'
in a drop down menu in Windows Explorer as I cannot find them in mine?
    Best regards
    Simon

It's probably the fields highlight color of the application, which you can change via Edit - Preferences - Forms.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Extended: Enable commenting in Save As-ed PDFs by default

    For Acrobat 9 Pro Extended:
When using Save As to save a PDF, is it possible to have Commenting and Analysis enabled for that saved PDF by default?
What I currently must do: Open the PDF, choose Comments > Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader, at which point Acrobat 9 Pro Extended prompts me to save the file.
What I would like to do: Have Save As automatically enable commenting & analysis by default.
I can't find any controls for that, so suspect it's a manual process each time...(?)
Note, too, that this question was asked for Acrobat 8 Pro but went unanswered, which further leads me to believe enabling comments may well be a one-by-each process. Sigh...

    No.

  • Invalid signature when trying to install Photoshop CC extension using the Adobe Extension Manager CC and default installed Photoshop CC extensions won't load

I have a Creative Cloud subscription for Photoshop CC. All Creative Clouds products are updated to the latest versions. When I tried to install Tony Kuyper's TKActionv3 Photoshop extension using the Adobe Extension Manager CC on my PC desktop, I received an error message that the extension contained an invalid signature and wouldn't be installed. I had previously installed the extension on my laptop without any problems. At the same time, I also noticed the default installed Photoshop CC extensions (e.g., Adobe Exchange, Kuler, Mini Bridge, Behance) could not be loaded using the Windows/Extension command. I receive an error message that the command could not be completed because the extension could not be loaded. After contacting Tony Kuyper, he suggested that I try the steps mentioned in the following weblink: https://forums.adobe.com/message/6029768. The steps basically consist of uninstalling and reinstalling all the Creative Cloud apps associated with Photoshop CC. I tried the steps multiple times, but I am still having the same problems. I can find the default installed Photoshop CC extensions on my machine, so I don't know why they can't be loaded.
    Thanks for your assistance,
    Mark Curtis

    Hi Mark
You say everything is up to date?  And you have tried reinstalling all the CC apps?  Is Windows also fully up to date?  Hmmm...  That could be tricky.
What version of Windows are you using?  Have a look in Task Manager > Processes and see if 'CEPServiceManager.exe *32' is listed as running?
If not, I don't know where it would be installed from, and we'd need someone like Chris Cox to join the thread to tell us, but my guess is that it would install along with the CC Desktop Application Manager.  Windows 8.1 can be problematic, and a bit fussy about the order of things, and it is definitely worth adopting best practice when installing your CC apps.  That means restarting your computer, and right clicking the Desktop Application manager and running as Administrator.
How many CC apps are you running?  If just Photoshop, Bridge, Expansion manager etc. then - and I hate to say this - perhaps have another go at reinstalling, but run the Cleaning tool after uninstalling.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Try some other Extensions before the Tony Kuyper's TKActionv3.  GuideGuide is a favourite of mine, as well as Dmonzon tools, and maybe Russell Brown's Flypaper Textures.
I have to say that I have had problems with the CC Extension Manager a while back, but simply reinstalling just the Extension Manager fixed it.  Perhaps CEPServiceManager.exe *32 installs with Extension Manager?  Heck, maybe start with just trying that before reinstalling all your CC apps.
If you are still stuck, I'd risk sending Chris Cox a PM, but not until you triple check that your video card driver is up to date from the card maker's website.
Good luck, and be sure to let us know how you get on.

  • PDF as default selection for Select printing cotrol (for Web)

    Hi
Can someone point me to righ direction? What we are trying to do is, in Infoview, set PDF as default selection for "Select printing Control (for Web)", so that each user does not have to do this in preferences in infoview.
Is it possible to do so? If yes, how?
    Thank you
    Regards
    IMS

Take a look for a .vbs sample that synchs the ADMINISTRATOR preferences to all users on the BOE platform.
You can schedule this as a PROGRAM OBJECT in InfoView so that it runs on a regular schedule to apply the change to new users.

  • Preview: In a group of PDF files in the same window, going to the next or a previous PDF file displays the bottom of PDF by default, not the top. How do you change this?

Preview: In a group of PDF files in the same window, going to the next or a previous PDF file displays the bottom of PDF page by default, not the top of the PDF page. How do you change this? In Mac OS 10.9 and previous, going to the next or previous PDF file displays the top of the PDF by default. Is there a way to change this back? When I go to the next or previous PDF file, I want to first view the top of the page, not the bottom. This really doesn't make any sense. Any help? Thanks!

  • How to open PDFs by default with Adobe Reader?

    Hi everybody!!
I used to have Adobe Acrobat but I don't have it any more.
When I had Acrobat the PDFs in my sistem and the PDFs in the web were opened without problems by Acrobat but now I just have Adobe Reader (not Acrobat) and the PDFs in my sistem and on the web are not opened and can't read them...
Even the PDFs in my sistem don't show the PDF icon as when I had Acrobat installed.
What could I do to be able to open PDFs by default with my Adobe Reader?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Right click on a PDF file and select Open with, then select the Always open with button. Search for Adobe Reader and go from there. This is an OS feature, not a Reader feature. For further questions about Reader, check the Reader forum.

  • Word 2007 published as pdf opens by default in Photoshop

I'm running XP SP2. When I "Save As" a Word 2007 document as "PDF", and then click "Publish", (the file name has an extension of .pdf, and the file type is .pdf), Photoshop opens automatically. What I want to have happen is for the the .pdf document I have created to automatically open in Acrobat Reader, in .pdf format.
I also note that I do have a .pdf printer installed when I go to print from Word.
The Adobe products I have installed are Distiller 4.0 (Acrobat 4.0), and Acrobat Reader 8.1.2. Also, Pagemaker 7.0.2 and Photoshop 6.0.1.
    I am totally befuddled.

It is likely that you have file associations messed up in Windows. If you double click a PDF in Explorer, does the file open in Reader or Photoshop? If the latter, you need to fix the file associations. Keep in mind that saving as a PDF from WORD is not the same as creating a PDF using Acrobat (which apparently do not have). For questions about Reader, you should go to the Reader forum in the future. Maybe my guess has answered your current problem.

I need to make a pdf document, already made in photoshop, 'page turn' and then add it to my website as an e-brochure. I know I can do this in indesign but indesign will not open pdf files for some inexplicable reason. Any ideas how I can do it without completely starting again?

    Hello waitingone,
please try this (all terms are translated from my German programs to my best knowledge):
    1. Did the creator of the pdf file enable the import options?
    2. See import options: choose an other visibility option for your layer.
    3. Let you show the import options and click into one with a black background and try these out (often a gray is selected).
    4. See trimming: try the different modes there. Often works: "Media".
    5. Is the pdf file (eg from Word) correctly created?
    6. Is the PDF file protected? >>> no import possible.
    7. If that does not help, store the pdf file in Acrobat, repair possible errors, run the PDF Optimizer before placing in InDesign.
    Good luck!
    Hans-Günter
