PDF's from websites will not download. I get a grey screen.

How can I get my Macbook Pro to download PDFS from a website?
It seems to think about it but once complete I get a grey screen.
It worked in the past.
I have adobe .
I have re-downloaded it.

Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • HP printer stopped printing wirelessly, available driver from apple will not download. Now What? No printer at all!

HP 6500A Plus wireless printer quit printing wirelessly but still printed wired. The printer connects to the wireless router (linksys EA6100),  I am running OS X Lion. Decided to see if needed updated software for printer. Went to HP website and downloaded full version driver for this printer/fax/scanner. I set up the printer for wireless printing, it connected to wireless network, but the macbook does not find the printer on the network. Discovered that if I setup wireless connection again from printer touchscreen and re-added printer to the printer list on my macbook pro, then I could print one document. To print again I had to go through that process again. Have downloaded and installed this driver several times now over course of a week.
Today I decided to download just printer driver. Went to HP website, driver is available and HP actually has you use the apple software update to pull this one. Apple Software Update says software is available for this printer, I also confirmed that on a list of available software on apple website, but while it is downloading it stops and gives me a message that software is not available. Now I can not even print wired. I have tried process several times. What do I do now?  I have a scanner and fax, but no printer!!

I am sorry for the delay in answering.  TWC email sometimes takes several days to get to me.
I am embarrassed to say that I did not read closely the message that was provided when I clicked on Control Clicked / Open.  I did go back and continue the process and thought I had installed the update.  The end message stated that the installation was successful, but I could not find the scanner anywhere, even with intense searching.  I have reinstalled it twice again with no scanner installed.  I did find files in the Saved Application State but they take only a few KBs of space and the software should have taken 22.4 MBs.
I have messages now posted in two different HP Communities and will continue to try that route to help, but right now it looks dismal.  If you have any more explanations or advice I would love hearing from you.  Could the Trovi component cause this problem?  I thought I was rid of it but I don't really know what to look for other than not having it take over my home page - which it has not done recently.
I really appreciate your help, and I take your advice to heart about not using the older CD and I will not attempt to revert to Snow Leopard.  I am really afraid it would mess up iPhoto  and that would be devastating.

  • Apps will not download just gets stuck on that waiting thing. started when i redeemed an itune card

one day i decided to to buy an itunes card. i was so happy that i had finally bothered to get one. the guy in the store looked like he was having abit of trouble activating it but he managed. as soon as i got home i redeemed it the when out. then when i got back i picked up my ipod went onto the app store and tried to down load this app that i had wanted for ages (the emoji app). but when i tried to download the app it just got stuck on that grey waiting thing so i tried again but this time it said that it could not purches it then the nex time it said that it could not conect to the store. i tried to download a free app as a test but that did exactly the same. iv tried resetting it to, did noting. plz help
                                             xxxxxxxx <(")

I have the exact same problem for the past 2 hours, and now I figure out how to solve it.
Go to iTunes then go to downloads, you will see something is stucked there which is not downloading, delete it, you don't have to delete all of them, only the one is not downloading.
The problem of my iPhone 4S iOS 5.01 came from iTunes U, just right after I started downloading some video clips or podcasts  from iTunes U. I could not find any video clips in there, after 2 hours, I found the problem, it was in iTunes, downloads is happening in iTunes, not in iTunes U.
You don't need to restore your iPhone any more.

  • PDF created from AutoCAD will not print

    This one has me baffled.
I'm working with AutoCAD 2009 and Adobe Acrobat 8.  I printed 3 layouts from AutoCAD to Acrobat as a C-size sheet.  I usually merge them into one multi-page file using Acrobat.  All 3 .PDFs were created with no errors and can be viewed on the screen.
I went to print this 3 page file to an HP DesignJet 500.  The first 2 pages printed fine, but page 3 would not print.
So I went to the original individual file for the missing page, opened it in Acrobat - it also would not print to the HP 500.  BUT - it WOULD print to my HP 2800 on an A-size (letter) sheet.
All three pages came from the same AutoCAD file.  All 3 .PDFs were created using the same settings.  Individually, only the first 2 will print to the HP 500.
I tired recreating the third file with a different file name.  Looks fine on the screen, yet when I try to print it, it does not get to the printer driver.
Yes, I have re-booted my system.  No difference.  Rebooted again and recreated the document - no change.
I figure there has to be some quirky character or entity in my AutoCAD layout that is tripping up the printer driver for the HP 500.  This is my first encounter with this kind of problem.  And yes, I do have the latest HP 500 driver installed and have created and printed 100s of AutoCAD drawings in this manner.
BTW, I'm running WIndows XP Pro.

    Michael,
I have about 19GB of free space on drive C: - your tip about "print as image" did permit the file to print to the HP 500.  This DesignJet is not a PS or PCL printer.
I've never encountered this kind of problem before.  This particular AutoCAD layout has a fair amount (but not a lot) of text that would no doubt be converted to a raster image (as it is not a system font) when processed by Acrobat during .PDF creation.
My drive D: has much more free space - is there a way of directing the printer driver to store its output to that drive?
Thanks for the tip - at least I know what to do the next time I'm up against the clock trying to get the work out.

Hi, i have a first generation Macbook Pro. As i was browsing the web, my computer all the sudden froze and the "grey screen of death" appeared and shut of my computer. After, it tried to restart, but it wont get past the CD rom  or hard drive noise it makes once you press the power button. I hear the noise fully cycle once, then it restarts the noise and keeps skipping. Once its done, the computer IS on, but the screen is black and I cannot do anything. Please help! Ive never dealt with thins kind of problem and Im sort of a noob with computers. Is the computer fried? It is after all 7 years old, and I use it daily.

After the startup sound (be precise) after the sound press the shift Key until the apple appear.
If that wont work. Try an SMC reset
    Then try a PRAM reset
This procedures are on apple webpage

    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
You need to provide more information about what happened when you tried to download it. Please provide a full description since "all grayed out" doesn't tell me anything really helpful.

  • I upload the interactive pdf to my website, but it will not download off my website.

I made a simple interactive form in Livecycle Designer.  I upload it to my company's website, but it WILL NOT DOWNLOAD off of my website.  Someone else in my office has a different version of Adobe Acrobat and when he makes interactive pdfs and uploads them to the website, they download just fine.  Why!?  Any help will be much appreciated.

This doesn't sound like a LC Designer issue, but more of a broken link issue. Try right clicking and copy the link location. Then drop it in an email and send it to your web admin to see if the link is correct. More than anything else, it's most likely a problem with the link.

  • Unable to download pdf files from websites

For a month now I have been unable to dowload PDF Files from websites.
I have un-installed Adobe Software & re-installed hoping this would solve
this on going problem. But I am afraid it has not this problem seems to
have accured since the latest up date of Sarfari I trust Apple are coming up with
some sort of solution to this current problem ??

Far as I know the problem isn't on Apple's end. I'm download PDF files with no problem. But I've experienced what you are in the past and I think you were on the right track when you suspected Adobe. In the main Library folder (not the one in your personal directory) there's a folder called Internet Plugins. Look inside for a file called AdobePDFViewer and delete it. If I remember properly, you force Adobe Reader to install a new one by just starting Reader and it will ask if you want to install the PDF reader. Or, you might want to look at this plugin which, in my opinion, beats Adobe's plugin hands down.

  • Not opening pdf docs from websites

We recently installed Adobe Acrobat (full version) 7 onto our computers.  For some reason it will now not open any docs that are pdf's from websites/webpages which has rendered my computer virutally useless as I'm an insurance agent and 90% of what I print are pdf's from carrier websites.  Thoughts?  I've messed with my restricted sites options and some of my security features and am not having luck.

    Thanks Tim,
I am using IE, so I did the instructions, but the box was already marked.  It so weird, whenever I go to open the PDF's from online it just errors out and says IE isn’t responding.  I'm sure it has to do w/ the Adobe b/c that is the only change that was made to my PC between the time it worked and stopped working...

Latest version of Lightroom will not download RAW files from my D750. How does one get around this? Bought Lightroom for it's ability to manage RAW files and now very disappointed.

Here is the contents of a batch file which will convert whatever raws you drop on it:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe DNG Converter" -cr7.1 -dng1.4 -p0 %*
Once you download the latest converter (release candidate from adobe labs, if necessary), and save the appropriate contents of the batch file (change path to match your system, and parameters to match your druthers, if applicable), the procedure is:
    1. Drop raw files on bat file.
    2. Import as usual (the DNGs).
Not too bad once you're set up (if DNG converter supports your raws).
    Documentation:
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/photoshop/pdfs/dng_commandline.pd f
Note: on Mac, you may need to use "$@" (with the double-quotes) instead of %* (which is dos batch syntax), and you will need to use the full path to the converter executable file, e.g.
    “/Applications/Adobe DNG Converter.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe DNG Converter”
If too much, just use the GUI instead of the bat file.
