Pdf's from word not working properly
Hi, I'm trying to print to acrobat printer and generate pdf's from word 2010. Unfortunately whenever I do it anything that is in the header or footer and any images on the page are completely missing when the pdf appears. Does anyone know how to stop this happening?!? It's driving me crazy.
Thanks a lot!
Hi there,
Just wanted to correct a possible misconception.
There is no PDFMaker ribbon available for the 64-bit version of Office 2010. However Acrobat is compatible with Office 2010 in that you can still create PDF files using Acrobat X by printing to the Adobe PDF printer.
To the original poster, could you upload a sample Word file?
Thanks,
David

I have created Editable PDF using itext(5.3.0) in java. I have used Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Reader X Pro. But in editable PDF combobox search is not working properly.
It's only search first character. My (admittedly old and slow) system did this too the first time I opened Reader 11, but it "unfroze" after about fifteen seconds, (an eternity in computing time, I know, but it did eventually open all the way) What you're seeing on the right is the "Tools" panel initializing. That's exactly where mine would freeze up on starting. Once it did finally open fully, I clicked the "Tools" link at the top to close the panel, and I opened and viewed a document that way, then closed reader. Now when I open Reader, the Tools panel doesn't initialize and it opens immediately.
Reboot and before you open anything else, open Reader. When you open it, DO NOT try to do anything with it until it fully opens, don't click anything, don't try to switch to another app. Give it time to open fully, and then click the Tools link to close it. Then, open and view a document, and close it. Close Reader and reopen it. the Tools panel should remain closed and Reader should open fully immediately. -
Save As PDF from Word not working
Hi all,
Getting a bit anxious here. I'm on a Mac and for years I've been creating PDFs from Word (Office X, 2003) by following the path: File > Print > PDF button > Save as PDF. It's always worked perfectly.
I bought my new iMac last week and could not create PDFs from Word. Thought it might be the version of Adobe Reader I was running (v9) so updated and am now running 10.0.3. No change. Some documents save fine, others don't.
Can someone please help? I'm quite dependent on this function for sending PDFs, and the backlog is growing...
Many thanks,
Andrew
My setup:
iMac 3.1G
12GB RAM
OS 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard)
Adobe Reader: v10.0.3Sorry but Reader has nothing to do with creating the PDF. It only views the end result. You'll probably want to take this up in either the Apple forums or a Microsoft forum since you are using one or the others technology to create the PDF.

Convert PDF to Word Doc; Troubles w/ word not working properly
Once I convert a PDF Doc to Word format I am only able to work on it for a few mins, then it shuts down saying there is a problem with Word .
Quest # 2 I down loaded Adobe Export onto my Desk top, how can I Xfer it over to my lap top should the problem be with my Word program on my desk top??
Thank You
Jim WatkinsHi Jim,
You are welcome to utilize your subscription on each of your computers. Since it is an online service all you need to do is login to your adobe.com account.
It sounds like you are correct and that it does have something to do with your word program.
Please let me know the outcome!

MS Word not working properly after Acrobat install
I installed Acrobat XI Pro a few days ago. Now when I open MS Word I get a constantly running "wait" icon. I can use the program minimally, but it is extremely sluggish. I tried disabling the Acrobat Addin - no difference. I tried repairing my Word program - no difference. I tried printing to Adobe PDF printer (which worked fine) and surprise, the constantly running wait icon disappeared and Word worked normally. But the next time I opened Word the problem returned. I tried removing Adobe PDF printer from my list of printers - no difference. I then went back to the original Acrobat installation. I can now use Word in a limited way if I select the Adobe PDF printer first, but my regular Canon printing program isn't functioning properly. Help please!!! (I'm using Office 2007.)

PDF export to word not working, conversion shows text as code.
I am working with Adobe acrobat pro, and cannot seem to export my PDf file without the text resulting in incomprehensible code. The images in the PDf convert beautifully, however.
I have followed the directions listed on the website, and have enable ORC, but it has not helped.

[Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t] Waking up from suspend not working properly
Hi,
I'm having some issues with getting suspend to work on my S10-3t. I tried pm-utils and the s2ram script (with about any combination of options as my machine is not on the whitelist) and always get the same behaviour: Suspending seems to succeed but waking up takes about 5 minutes.
I tried using pm-suspend under ubuntu 10.10, works flawlessly out of the box, so it *can* be done.. somehow.
Apparently this was a kernel related issue in older versions of ubuntu too, I couldn't quite figure out how they fixed it though (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/598664).
I tailed the pm-suspend.log and kernel.log through one suspend/wake up cycle, here's the output:
pm-suspend.log:

I have been trying to resolve the issue of suspend failing to resume on me Lenovo s10-3 (not the touch screen) for what seems an aeon.
A profound thank you to you all.
hpet=disable highres=off nohz=off
Works!
I now have no indication lights showing when the machine is suspended? But finally I can close the lid and reopen to resume - fantastic, this machine may finally see some more use.

Word not working properly after W7 upgrade
Word is acting exactly like it did on my old machine before I purchased my new PC three months ago....I use Office 2003.....the Thesaurus won't work, when I click Page Setup it says Not Responding for some time before it finally pops up the Page Setup box, and other things like that where it says not responding. I am getting frustrated. I bought a new computer and ever since the W7 upgrade, I've only had problems. The printer in QB won't work, and other annoying things. Everything takes longer than it used too....just opening My docs and clicking on a folder takes too long, etc.
Forgot to mention that now my Syncback back up won't work and when the computer goes to sleep, I have to click my mouse and enter button about 20 times before the monitor will show anything and then it says I entered the wrong PW for my login.
Outlook gives me problems too -- not opening sometimes, etc.Hi,
Thank you for your post! I would recommend that please post your question to one of the newsgroups "Discussions in microsoft.public.word.newusers"
located here: http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.word.newusers&cat=en_us_7e05d5c5-204c-4bd9-8987-921cc132cb4c&lang=en&cr=us

Interactive PDF show/hide button not working properly
I could use some help. I'm creating an interactive pdf using show hide buttons. A button is set to hidden and a second button controls it's visible on mouse enter and mouse exit. Sometimes these buttons which are set to visible turn to invisible in the general/form field propery window and stop working. I've tried replacing the buttons with new ones, but this hasn't helped. Is this a bug or do you think the document is corrupt. This is a large prototype file which has to be shown to a client and rebuilding it is not a welcome thought.
Is there a way to program this using java to create this function? (I'm a Java novice.)
ThanksHI PAUL, WE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SO, IF YOUR USING INDESIGN CS2 OR 3 WE HAVE FOUND THAT BY MAKING A NEW BUTTON WITH ALL THE ACTIONS YOU WANT IN A NEW DOCUMENT ON THE MASTER PAGE AND THEN COPYING AND PASTING THE NEW BUTTON INTO YOUR ORIGINAL FILE ONTO THE PAGE MASTER THIS USUALLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM.

Javascript called from actionscript not working properly
I have a flash file that I want to change the background of
an HTML frame when Scene2 begins. The code I have works fine in
Safari and gives the desired result. However, calling it from
firefox own Win IE, results in the javascript being placed in the
address bar, and the name of the bkg image placed in the upper left
corner.
Here is the code in the flash file...
getURL("javascript
ocument.body.background='fork.jpg'");
Here is the URL to the site
http://www.nealstudio.com/ametricstest/flashtest.html
Surely, it's something simple that I'm missing.MacManSC wrote:

yes that's quite correct although you'll find it's much more
robust to
put all your javascript into functions, which should be
stored in an
external .js file. That way, if you need to change anything
you mostly
won't need to go into flash at all, just edit the function in
the .js
file. Having the external .js then allow you to include the
same
functionality on different pages in your site whilst keeping
all
functions in one place.

PDF Report from internet not working in XP, works in Win7
I have a report that I'm generating from a website. If I try to generate the report in WinXP, I get either "Cannot display webpage", even though my ping to that website never goes down, or the page just sits there blank. If I nagivate away from the page, I get a "Navigation tot his page has been canceled" message. I have let it sit there upwards of an hour.
If I try the same steps in Win7, the report pulls up within seconds with no issues.
I have made sure the same add-ons are enabled/disabled. I have made sure to allow add-on's from the website. I have made sure that both machines have the same version of Adobe Reader with all of the available updates.
I am at a loss for what to try. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.Hi,
Could you please provide more information about this issue.
What is version for Reader you are using ?
What is version of IE ?
Can you please try with Reader version XI.

Hyperlinks not working properly in PDF, converted by Nuance PDF converter
I have encountered a problem with the pdf files which were converted by the Nuance PDF converter(v8.1).
When reviewing a pdf file in Adobe Reader X(v10.1.0) the hyperlinks are not working properly in the "fit to window width and enable scrolling" mode.
The second one, "fit one full page to window", is working without problems. In this mode all links can be used.
Attached is a screenshot about the two modes in Adobe Reader X.
This issue is just happening, if the file is converted by Nuance PDF converter.
Well, Nuance support was not helpful at all.
Regardsjust the "alias hyperlinks"(don't know the specific name) are not working.
if I write down www.hp.com it's just fine.
i've uploaded documents..
one is created with nuance pdf converter and the other with MS Office Word "save as pdf" function.
http://www.filedropper.com/linktestdocumentnuanceconverted
http://www.filedropper.com/linktestdocumentofficesafeas
so it seems like that nuance is not supporting "alias hyperlinks".. -
Hyperlinks in PDFs made from Word no longer work
PDFs made from Word documents containing hyperlinks used to be no problem. I can still make PDFs from Word (using the 'Save as PDF' in the print driver), and the links show up as underlined blue text, but they no longer work.
It's been several months since I last made a Word doc with links and successfully converted it to PDF in this manner, but I can't imagine what might have changed.
Any ideas?
Thanks!Try to redo the default browser (i.e make IE the default and then let Firefox do it again).
