PDF's not loading in browser - Internet Explorer 9, Adobe Reader X, Win 7 x64

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed and have a site that uses forms that need to be filled and submitted.  The problem is that when I open the form, they are opening in a seperate Window.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader
I've done 'detect' and repair several times.
I have checked and unchecked "Display PDF in browser" under EDIT -> PREFERENCES -> Internet
What I CAN tell is that when I go into Internet Explorer and look at the addons I do NOT see any of the acrobat add-ons that I see on my other computers (that work).
I've looked in the program files/common files/adobe/acrobat/active x folder and all the files are there but I don't see a way to make Internet Explorer force loading those or getting them in there manually.
Any help would be appreciated, I'm at my wits end!

Thank you for this.
One you said this I checked and it was running IE 64bit.
For some reason IE*64 was the default browser (which shouldn't happen).  Since IE*32 wouldn't allow me to set it as default (greyed out) I installed Chrome, set it as default browser then fired IE*32 back up, set it as default and vioila it's fixed.
I'm embarrased I didn't think of that first....
Thank you!

  • How to have PDF open in Internet Explorer 7 (Adobe reader version XI)

    Hello,
we would like to know how to open PDF in internet browser. Our browser version is IE7, Adobe Reader version is XI.
    Thanks,
    Jason

XI Pro contains all of the capabilities of Reader and a lot more. If you can't see the PDF, you may have the view in browser unchecked in Acrobat, or more likely your Acrobat is not updated to be compatible with the version of IE you are using (You did not mention). There may also be an issue with the OS you are running that could vary between computers (also not mentioned). First thing to do is to go to Help>Updates and be sure you are running 11.0.09. Then check the preferences (check the Internet tab).

  • Firefox will not load pages but Internet Explorer (IE) will.

When tethered to my Android phone, Firefox (ver. 8.0) will not open most webpages, but Internet Explorer (ver. 9.0) will. I say Firefox will not open "most" pages because, oddly enough, it WILL open https pages, but NOT regular http pages. When I try to open any regular http webpage in FF, I see in the status bar the usual "looking up..." and "connecting to..." messages, but then all I get is a completely blank white screen. I get no error messages whatsoever, only this blank white browser screen.
When NOT tethered, FF works as normal when browsing to both https and regular http webpages.
Why would Firefox open secured https pages but not unsecured http pages?
As part of my attempts to diagnose/resolve this issue, I completely wiped/reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and both FF8 and IE9.
Also, the issue arises regardless of which tethering method I use on my Android phone. That is, it happens whether I connect my computer wirelessly or via USB.
Lastly, the issue arises even when all add-ons are disabled and even uninstalled. I made sure to try the tether capability as I was reinstalling FF, before installing any add-ons and the issue persisted.

The problems are getting worse. I think I will have to give up on Firefox and go with the Google browser. No problems with IE just firefox and I can't take it anymore.

  • Can't save PDF from Internet Explorer embedded Adobe Reader

One of our clients use an application to digitally distribute and
approve incoming invoices.  The scanned invoices (PDF's) are
visualised in the webbased application by using the embedded Adober Reader 9.0 in Internet Explorer 8.0.
While there is no problem printing PDF's, on some pc's it is impossible to save a PDF.  When you click on the save icon, nothing happens.
This issue has been resolved on some pc's by reinstalling Adobe Reader, but not on others.
Does anyone know what causes this problem and how it can be resolved?
    Thanks in advance!
    Thomas

    Hi Guys,
I have Win 7 64bit as well, and I have the same problem.
A pain when you're doing research and opening lots of browser windows
    with PDFs in em.
What I've found is that this is an Internet explorer issue.
Everything works perfectly fine in Firefox.
You can save, print, the works, with no problems.
Looks like Microsoft have to do something with IE.

  • When using Internet Explorer and Adobe Reader xi, I cannot find how to keep the Page thumbnails from hiding. We want them open.  Please help!

In Internet Explorer, when opening a PDF using the IE addon Adobe Reader XI, the Page Thumbnail toolbar is shrunk to the left (hidden).  Our users access the thumbnails constantly and we need this to remain open by default but I cannot find anywhere that this option is set.  I would expect there to be a pin icon to click to keep it open.  In the stand alone product Adobe Reader, we found that you can click "Restore last view settings when reopening documents." in Documents prefs but this doesn't work for new documents (only previously opened docs) AND doesn't work in Internet Explorer at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Marc

That would be something you could set at document level in document properties but would require Acrobat to make permanent.

  • PDF will not load in Browser

    Hello,
I looked for something similar to what I'm experiencing but couldn't find it here. I also didn't know where best to put this on these forums. Thank you for reading in advance.
I have a client that is experiencing issues opening pdf files from the web. She has Windows 7 64bit using acrobat 9. She can open pdfs locally or on the server share. She can save pdfs to the pc and then open them just fine however if she tries to open them in a browser (mainly IE but also happens in FF) she gets a pop up saying to close Acrobat/Reader and try again. (1:1). I've tried disabling all security on browser and acrobat and unchecking the open in browser option under internet but nothing is resolving the issue. It is up to date and I've tried repairing the install.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

There are two potential problems up front. First, be sure you have updated AA9. It is at 9.5.3 currently. Since you did not mention the subversions, I assume this is a 9.0.0 installation. That is particularly an issue on a 64-bit system.
To the best of my knowledge, AA9 does not work with 64-bit versions of OFFICE. I suspect you are running IE as a 64-bit process and that may be the issue. Unfortunately, I was never clear on the PDF plugins to the browsers, but at least this gives you something to consider.

  • PDFs will not load in browser

    Hi,
I have a problem with a few of my pdfs. They are not always fully loading in the browser (sometimes they do, but more often they don't). They get stuck at various points and quit loading. The one i have been experimenting with is 2.01 MB, so I don't think size is an issue. It doesn't matter what browser, FF, IE, Chrome, it just gets to a certain point and then stops. Sometimes it will even crash the browser. Created in Acrobat and compressed to reader 8 and above, if that makes any difference.
    Any ideas?
My first post here... if there is a way to privately send a message, I can send a link to the pdf that I have been experimenting with.
    Thanks!

Maybe it's the toolbar conflict, if possible try to uninstall them as a try !

  • Website template created in PS not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer. Any ideas?

    Hi there
I was wondering if anyone could help me with creating templates in photoshop.
I have cut up my site, centred the table it produces in Dreamweaver and added a background and made the banners rotate but the site does not load correctly in Internet Explorer (even before I did all this stuff). The cells are not correctly aligned.
I have also tired validating the code but it says it is not valid HTML.
Has anyone else had this problem?
My website can be viewed at: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4966582/intranet/index.html
    Thanks in advance

Photoshop is for images only.  Don't attempt to use the exported code on real web sites.  It won't work in the wild.  Why?  Because the code isn't good & the tables are too rigid to hold anything other than the image slices.  When you attempt to edit this layout in DW or any HTML editor, the whole thing falls apart and produces unsightly gaps between slices.
The reason it doesn't look right in IE is because the code lacks a valid document type declaration on the first line.  This causes IE to render the page in Quirks Mode.
The export HTML feature in Photoshop is really only for quick comps to show a client before you begin building the actual web site with HTML and CSS code.
Although written for Fireworks, the 3-part tutorial below describes the procedure for bringing your design comp into a CSS Layout in DW.  If you get stuck on anything, feel free to post specific questions in the DW general discussion forum.

See if you can find a NPPDF32.DLL files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\)
You can see the installed plugins on the about:plugins page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aplugins
You can set the pref plugin.expose_full_path to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can open about:plugins and about:config via the location bar, like you open a website (about: is a special protocol to access some build-in pages).
If you get a warning when opening the about:config page then you can confirm that you want to continue.

  • Adobe products are not recognized in my Internet Explorer 10 on my Win 7 64B professional

Adobe products are not recognized with my Internet Explorer. I cannot open PDF documents on websites and I cannot play MSN games since Flash Player is not found. I have tried manage add-ons and enable status without success. Can anyone supply detailed information on how to fix this problem?
    C-adobe

Are you running IE10 in 64-bit mode?  The Adobe Reader plugin is 32-bit, and can only run on a 32-bit browser.
Regarding Flash Player, do you have ActiveX Filtering enabled?  Disable it.

  • Adobe Reader X 10.1.1: PDF does not display in browser

    Hello,
If I click on a link to a PDF-file, this PDF-file does not display in browser eventhough I have checked "Display PDF in browser" (Preferences ==> Internet ==> Web Browser Options) but instead Adobe Reader X opens the PDF-file outside browser. What is wrong?
    Thank you for your help.

I solved the problem. I used Internet Explorer, 64-bit. If I use Internet Explorer 32-bit the PDF-file displays in browser. If I use Internet Explorer 64-bit Adobe Reader X opens the PDF-file outside browser.

  • Problems with page not showing up in Internet Explorer

I uploaded my page. All was fine. Looked good in all
    browsers.
    home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/index.htm
Now all of a sudden my index.htm page (also have default.htm
page) shows up as a black screen only no pictures. No words.
All of the sub pages show up fine if you add that to the
address. Just the Index. is not showing up in Internet Explorer.
Looks good in Firefox, Netscape and Safari.
    example home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/index3.htm
    Anybody have any suggestions?
    J Whedbee

I'm seeing the entry page at:
    http://home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/
    with no problems.
    I'm also seeing
    http://home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/index.htm
    with no
    problems... pics, black background.
    http://home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/default.htm
    is just the same as
    index.htm
    http://home.gci.net/~larry-and-jackie/Index.htm
    (note the capital "I" )
can't be seen .... no such file.
Not sure why you would have an index.htm and a default.htm
    both really
    aren't needed.
Have you tried clearing your browser cache?

  • PDFs will not open in Browser with Adobe Reader 9

I am using Vista Ultimate x64 (SP1) using IE7. I am using the 32-bit version of the browser. I have selected "Display PDF in browser" on the Internet settings tab of the Adobe Reader 9.
Every time I select a PDF document, it forces me to save the document to the hard drive and open it from the hard drive. It will not open the PDF in the browser. How do I fix this problem??
The above procedure did work in Windows XP (32-bit), but does not appear to work in Vista (64-bit).

I have a similar problem using Adobe Reader 9 with Vista 64. I am also using the 32 bit version of IE7. Every time I click on a pdf to open in IE7 the screen remains white without starting Adobe Reader 9 in IE7 browser window.
Using Adobe Reader independantly works without any problem. Only the IE7 plugin does not seem to work. I reinstalled Adobe Reader 9 but without any effect. Adobe Reader 8 works. How comes?
