.pdf's reappearing after syncing

I use a lot of .pdf's (about 700 permanently stored), and often after I get them I combine them (sync to iTunes, open in preview, thumbnail view, move them over, save, rename the master, delete the others).  Recently, I've found I can't get rid of some of the one page .pdf's.  I delete them on iTunes, sync with "sync books" off to delete them from my iPad, sync with "all books" checked to restore the iTunes library to the iPad (checked they aren't there), and presto--somehow the deleted files are being restored.  Granted I'd rather they reappear than mysteriously disappear, but this is making it very hard to stay organized.  Please help.

Hi there,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:

It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on. Let us know the results.
Best of Luck!

  • Songs i deleted on the iPhone reappear after syncing

I thought the thing could work like apps: after you deleted an App from the iPhone it will not reappear after the sync with iTunes.
Instead today i deleted 4 songs from my iPhone 4 and after the sync they reappeard.
Have to say that i sync only the checked songs of all the iTunes songs i have, so i thought those i deleted from iPhone would be unchecked after the sync... it didn't work this way...
    By now i think it's a useless function ^_^

I agree that it's a useless function. I spent so much time deleting 100+ songs directly from the iphone, then I synced and there they were back in there. I can obvoiusly delete them directly from itunes but what's the point of being able to delete them from the iphone if they are going to be back after the next sync.  I hope the next update fixes this problem.

  • Deleting apps reappearing after sync

    Greetings!
I'm having an issue where when I delete apps on my 3G, when I sync back up with iTunes, the apps are put BACK onto the phone. Anyone else experiencing this or know why it's happening?
    Thanks in advance!
    Bob

On the Applications page of your device when connected to iTunes, check synch "Selected applications", not "All", When you delete an app from your phone, the app should automatically uncheck itself on the page, but sometimes this doesn't happen. Review the selected apps before synching.
If you're sure you don't want to use the app again, you can delete if from your iTunes library.

  • Empty "Links__1" and "Links__2" folders in Safari after syncing my Internet Explorer Bookmarks with iTunes.

I use Firefox and Internet Explorer on my desktop and sync the bookmarks between them using XMarks.  I then sync my Internet Eplorer bookmarks to my iPad using iTunes.  On top of all of my bookmarks, which sync fine, I have 2 extra empty folders called "Links__1" and "Links__2".  I can delete them but they eventually reappear after syncing (though not always on the next sync).
Any ideas on what is causing this and how to prevent this would be appreciated.

    Solved.
    I think.
I had 2 hidden "Favorites Bar" folders in my Favorites folder.  Deleted them and the pronlem seems to have gone away.
    Fingers crossed.

  • IBooks deleted books after sync

    Okay, this one's bizarre.
I have a fairly large ebook collection, about 300, consisting of purchases from the iBookstore as well as other free epubs, non-DRM epubs purchases from places like Fictionwise plus various pdfs. Yesterday after syncing my iPad (which included about 30 app updates and 2 new books from the iBookstore) I opened iBooks to witness the following: while the little "working" icon was spinning in the menu bar, about 80% of my books just winked out one at a time and disappeared, one after the other, until most of my shelves were empty.
iTunes was set to sync all books, as always.
When I went back into iTunes to re-sync them, they did load back onto my iPad but all jumbled up out of order.
Further examination revealed that all my videos had disappeared too, even though nothing had been changed on the iTunes settings.
Latest version of iOS, latest version of OS X, latest version of iTunes.
Has anyone else had this happen, and can anyone offer any clues?  This was a royal pain in the butt, and if possible I want to take whatever steps to ensure it won't happen again.
    Cheers,
    Chuck

If you haven't gone back in and reordered or reloaded what you thought were lost books, try rebooting your iPad.  It cures many "odd" ills.  Hold the power and home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds (hold past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  Check and see if your Library is back and in order.  This has happened to a few people and rebooting seemed to solve it for them.......

    Hi asims01,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

  • Entire library of music erased off ipod after sync

Ipod touch 5th gen 32 gb running IOS 8.2
For the 4th time since updating to IOS 8.2, whenever i try to add new music to my ipod through itunes, when the ipod syncs with itunes, ALL of my music is erased off the ipod.
Manually manage music and videos is selected. I do not have itunes/ipod automatically sync music. I have "prevent devices from syncing automatically" enabled.
So heres the basic rundown of what happens.
    1-upload music to ipod
    2-let music copy over
    3-upload more music to ipod
    4-ipod/itunes begin sync
5-syncing stops without copying music over
6-all music vanishes off ipod after sync "completes"
looking at my ipod music list in itunes, it shows all my music. when you click on them to play them, ! shows up next to ALL songs.
when you look at the music on the ipod itself, nothing is there.
this is what it looks like for the music that has be synced before, that has suddenly disappeared

from my experience, the music is still there. the database is screwed up when itunes recognizes the music, but the ipod doesnt see it.
what ive discovered, after the database crashes and everything is gone, see if you can find this info out. anytime ive had this issue, there are normally a few songs that wont copy over and itunes says "could not convert"(i have itunes setup to convert songs of high bitrate to aac 128kbps). when i go to delete those songs(because they show up on the ipod, but are greyed out), thats when the database crashes, and everything vanishes.
my fix for this issue is this:
unplug ipod from computer and turn off
    close itunes
    restart ipod
    open itunes
    plug in ipod
    sync ipod with itunes
copy over one or two of failed songs
watch itunes start to sync, sit at "waiting for changes to be applied" for a few minutes
watch all my missing music reappear(over the course of about 10 hours, takes a few minutes to recopy 4000 songs)
annoying and frustrating, but until apple can recognize this issue and put a fix in, this is the best solution i can think of besides throwing my ipod at the wall and fix the solution permanently. but that wont get me very far because of my lifeproof case.

  • Events after syncing with Palm

After syncing with my Palm, iCal has spread many but not all one-day events over two days. For instance, Halloween in iCal is now a two day holiday from October 30 through October 31. My cousin's birthday is now two days long as well. BUT, Easter is still just one day, as is my father's birthday. It's really weird. The two day spread does not happen on my Palm.

Other users have reported this very same issue after updating to iOS 5.
If you are using iCloud, try changing a contact in your iCloud.com. Then see if the Edit button reappears in the Contacts App.
I can no longer designate a custom title for additional email addresses within a contact. I can edit contacts and add new ones, I just cannot designate an additional email address for a particular contact as home, or work, or any of the other titles that should be available. iOS 5 has caused some weird glitches for some of us.

  • HT201272 I purchased songs from iTunes Radio on my iPhone, but now the only place they will show up is in the iTunes Store app on my phone, even after syncing to my computer a million times, the songs do not show up in my library or anywhere else.

I purchased songs from iTunes Radio on my iPhone, but now the only place they will show up is in the iTunes Store app on my phone, even after syncing to my computer a million times, the songs do not show up in my library or anywhere else. My phone is not syncing properly, I wanted to add another playlist to it that I created on my Mac. I pluged in my phone and made sure the playlist I wanted to add was checked to be on my phone when I synced.
The playlist I wanted to add was "Country." It is clearly checked. I also wanted to add the "Recently Added" playlist, which I also checked before sycing. Currently, my phone only has the "Purchased" playlist and my "All Songs" playlist on it. When I hit sync, iTunes added another playlist automatically added another playlist to the list above and checked it. It was titled "ALL SONGS 1" and had ten fewer songs in it than the playlist I had created, "ALL SONGS" had. This playlist, however does not show up on my phone after syncing, nor does "Country" or "Recently Added." (Every time I sync, another playlist is created as "ALL SONGS 2, 3, 4, etc.") One of the songs (I have not, yet checked the other songs) that I purchased from within iTunes Radio shows up in the "ALL SONGS 1" on this screen:
But does not show up anywhere else. This playlist does not show up anywhere but the two screens above. The ALL SONGS 1 or 2 playlists do not show up here:
When I search for those song in my library, it shows that I do not have them:
But if I go to the iTunes store, I get the play button and not the price of the song:
This is what things look like from my phone's side of things:
"Summertime Sadness," one of the songs I bought from iTunes Radio, does not show up in the iTunes store under purchased "All" or "Not on This iPhone"
But, it does show up under "Recent Purchases"
Also, this is what playlists are on my phone after syncing a million times:
Only what was on there before I started any of this. "Summertime Sadness" and the other songs I bought from inside iTunes Radio, do not show up in either of these playlists. Please, help me.

caller id not working after syncing my iphone to my pc?

Syncing with iTunes has nothing to do with this, especially when not syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer which very few Windows users seem to be inclined to do.

There are songs in my library that do not show up on my ipod after syncing.

Are they from a different source or format that the ones that do sync?

  • Songs purchased on iPhone through iTunes Store will not show up on iPhone after syncing with iTunes

I recently purchased iTunes Match (about a month ago).  Since purchasing Match, any songs that I have bought on my iPhone 4S (32GB, Sprint) through the iTunes Store app will not sync back to my iPhone after syncing with iTunes on my computer.  I have iOS 7.1.2 and iTunes 11.3.0.54.  The only way I can get them to show back up in my iPhone music library so I can play them is by re-downloading the songs through the iTunes Store app.  Which is super annoying because now it is about 10 songs that keep doing this, and they are in multiple playlists.  Is anyone else having this problem and have you found any fixes?  Really regretting purchasing the iTunes Match (which is not enabled on my iPhone, just on my computer).

How to create custom ringtones ...
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Find the song that you want to make into a ringtone.
    3. Listen to the song and find the part of it you want to use. The chorus may be a good place to start.
    4. Write down the start and stop times of the clip.
    5. Right-click the song and select "Get Info."
    6. Click the "Options" tab.
    7. Type in the start time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Start Time" in the minutes:seconds (i.e., 2:01) format.
    8. Type in the end time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Stop Time." Make sure the ringtone is no more than 30 seconds long.
    9. Click "OK."
    10. Right-click your song again and select "Convert Selection to AAC." Wait for iTunes to convert your song. It will create a duplicate version.
    11. Right-click the ringtone and select "Delete."
    12. Click on the "Keep Files" button.
    13. Find the file. It's usually in your User folder under "Music > iTunes > iTunes Music" and under the band's name. It will have an extension of m4a.
    14. Replace the m4a extension of your ringtone with m4r. You can either double-click slowly to rename your file, or right-click and select "Get Info" on a Mac or "Rename" on a Windows PC.
    15. Click "Use .m4r" or the PC equivalent when the system warns you that the change may affect the use of your file.
    16. Double-click the ringtone file. ITunes will automatically add it to your ringtones folder in your iTunes Music Library.
    17. Connect your iPhone and sync your ringtones.
Oh, also to change a file extension. (not sure on Mac), but in Windows you need to go to "control panel" select "folder options". You need to uncheck the box "hide file extension for known file types". This will allow you to view and change the files extensions.
    Hope this is useful ...

When selecting "update all," it says "Cannot Download.  There is not enough available local storage to download these items.  You can manage your local device storage usage in Settings."
How can this be the case when I haven't changed any apps from before updrading to iOS6, and I don't have any music yet on the phone?  Why is it telling me there is not enough local space?

    Hi RileyAvaCadenRiver,
If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:
