PDF's some will open some won't

I am having a problem opening some of my PDF's this started about 2 month's ago.
Now some PDF's will open, I can tell the ones that won't because I get a small
blue box with a question mark in it. But I can open it on my Laptops running
Vista, but I can also open them on my Iphone4.
I am wondering if a resent apple update or an update to an app has caused this
change. Most of my PDF's that I can not open our from my office, and they have not changed anything. I don't understand why it won't open on the Ipad, but it
will open on the Iphone4. I do not have Stanza loaded either.
If I scan paper in and put on PDF it will open, but like I said 2 months ago
everything opened automatically in my emails 1, 2 pages or more.
Anyone have any Ideas other than opening in ITunes which I did not have to do
before.

If you view the image in your email you can click and hold on it and get the window that asks you which application you would like to use to open the .PDF file.
Solved me problem.

I have checked other forums, and the only answer I found was to make sure Firefox is up to date, and mine is. What else can I do to fix this?

Solution 1: Refresh Firefox

Solution 2: Delete Firefox preference files
Click the menu button New Fx Menu , click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. The Troubleshooting Information tab will open.
Under the Application Basics section, click on Show Folder. A window with your profile files will open.
Note: If you are unable to open or use Firefox, follow the instructions in Finding your profile without opening Firefox.
Click the menu button New Fx Menu and then click Exit Close 29
Locate and delete the file prefs.js (or rename it, for example, to prefs.jsOLD, to keep the old file as a backup). If you find more than one, a prefs.js.moztmp file or a user.js file, delete (or rename) these as well.
You can close the profile folder and open Firefox now.

Sending PDF files that will open exclusively in "full screen mode"

Flash has this capability with Projector's files. I wonder if Acrobat has the same capability. I've tried unsuccessfully.

If you embed a document script with the following code, the file will open in full-screen mode:
app.fs.isFullScreen = true;
However, the user will always be able to switch back to the regular viewing mode, and it will probably not work if the file is opened in a browser.
Also, it won't work if JavaScript is turned off.

PDF link that will open in a new window.

Is there a way to link to a PDF file so that it will open in a new window. The same way that a link to an external page can do. Can I put it in iDisk and do it that way.

1. Create a folder in your iDisk/Web/Sites folder.
2. Name it something like 'files' or whatever
3. Copy your .pdf or any other file to that folder
4. web.mac.com/username/nameofthefolder/nameofthefile.extension is the address at which the file will be stored on the web
Example: http://web.mac.com/username/files/nameofthefile.pdf
Put this url as Link to: an external page (changing username and name of the file).
It should work with open in a new window.

Thoughts are to allow groups of individuals mobile numbers to be shared across larger organizations, from within a PDF document, that the mobile numbers would be clickable, and open up a Text or instant messaging application on either the computer, tablet, or smart phone, for instant communication.

Pdf's that will open in XP will not in Vista?

So I am thoroughly confused. I recently purchased an interactive CD that contains scannned in aoutomotvie user manuals and cannot open the Pdf's contained on it using Vista 64-Bit.
My cousin has XP home premium and they open up fine. We both have Reader 9 installed. I can open up all other Pdf's just fine. In fact I have never not been been able too on my Vista machine.
Doe anyone have any idea why Reader 9 on XP would work with these pdfs but not on Vista?
ps. the Vista error I get when I try to open them says that "..it's not a supported file type or becasue the file has been damaged" Obvioulsy it is and hasn't if the XP machine can view it.

a) Do both machines have the exact same dot version of Reader? This can be seen on Adobe Reader>Help>About dialog. The latest today is 9.3.1
b) How are you opening the file - by double clicking or using the file open menu? Or does it fail either for case.

Drag and Drop an Attached AutoCad File in a PDF Portfolio to and Open Drawing in AutoCad

I currently Printed all my Details to PDF and combined them all into a catalog to view them. I them attached all the AutoCad files to the PDF. I can open the AutoCad file in the pdf, but it will open it as a new drawing int AutoCad. I would like to Drag and drop from the PDF file to a drawing that is already opened in AutoCad. Any suggestions?

Pages does not run on Windows.
Word cannot open a Pages file.
If you want someone without pages to be able to open your attachment, you will have to send it in a format openable on the recipient's computer.
If the recipient needs only to read the document, the most universal format is pdf. To send a pdf copy of your file, press command-P to open the Print dialogue, then click the PDF button and choose email PDF. This will open a new message in your default email client and attach the pdf file to that message.
If the recipient needs to be able to edit/change your document, and has MS Word, then either Save a copy as a Word file or go File > Export and choose Word as the file format for the export.
Be aware that MS Word does not support all features of Pages (and vice versa), and that formatting of the document may be affected by font substitution if you use fonts that are not available on the recipient's machine.

PDF file cannot be opened

I cannot open pdf, I get an error: "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
Please help with opening .pdf file.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Why won't my downloads open? Some will and some won't.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to download images that I intend to use for an upcoming website. However, after downloading them, they won't open when I double-click on the download(s). Some will, and some from other websites will open. This occurs with other downloads that I have from other sites occasionally as well. It is very frustrating and I'm just not knowledgeable to be able to go in and try and find, or fix, the problem(s). They've been downloaded as .jpg files and I have imported the ones I could open into their own folder. What's my issue?

What is the file extension? Does that type file have a program associated

Some emails blank when opened in yahoo but will open from trash

Most emails open but maybe once or twice a day when I open an email it is blank. These are just emails from friends that have messages that have been typed and sent. I can delete the email and then go to trash and they will open.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Why does reader freeze while opening some pdf files and others open instantaneously?

I use pdf files created from CamScanner and shared from DropBox. In DropBox, many times (over 50%) while opening the PDF the process freezes and the error message is Adobe Reader is not responding. If you close the program, and re-open the file, it opens fine. I have saved these files to my computer and the same issue occurs. The files are 100-500kb, so I do not think size is the issue. I have reinstalled Reader (11.1.10) and there is no improvement.
